What Redditors are Saying

Best Budget Gaming PC

TL;DR For a budget gaming PC, aim for a build around $500-$1000 for 1080p gaming. Key components include a Ryzen 5600 CPU or Intel 12400F, AMD 6600 or RX Vega 56 GPU, and DDR4 RAM. Consider used parts to save money.

Budget Range and Performance Expectations

The discussions suggest that a budget gaming PC can be built for anywhere between $500 to $1500, depending on the desired performance level. A $500-$700 build will comfortably handle 1080p gaming [3:1], while a $1000-$1500 budget can achieve high settings at 1440p resolution [2:1]. For those with a tighter budget, using second-hand components can significantly reduce costs [1:4].

Recommended Components

Several users have recommended specific components for building an effective budget gaming PC. A popular choice is the Intel Core i5-12400F paired with a B660 motherboard [2:1][2:3], or alternatively, a Ryzen 5600 CPU [3:1]. For graphics, the AMD 6600 or RX Vega 56 are suggested for their good price-to-performance ratio [3:1][3:3]. Memory recommendations include DDR4 RAM with speeds of 3000MHz or higher [5:5][5:8].

Build Examples

Some users shared complete build lists to provide concrete examples of budget gaming PCs. One example includes a Xeon 2697 v3 processor, X99 board, RX Vega 56 GPU, and DDR4 RAM, totaling around $350 [3:3]. Another list suggests saving more for a better GPU and upgrading other components as needed [5:3].

Sales and Discounts

Timing your purchase around sales events like Black Friday or Cyber Monday can help maximize savings [5:7]. Prices for GPUs and other components fluctuate, so waiting for these discounts could allow you to upgrade certain parts within your budget [2:4].

Additional Tips

Consider pairing your CPU with faster RAM if opting for Ryzen [5:4], and ensure you have both SSD and HDD for storage efficiency [5:4]. If you're new to building PCs, resources like detailed posts on subreddits such as r/buildapc can offer valuable guidance [5:1].

Hello I was planning on buying some Pc parts to build my own gaming pc but I’m not sure what parts I should buy since I need each part to cost less than $2000 since I’m on SSI?

"I need each part to cost less than $2000"

That's a zero too many or are you just trolling?

A budget gaming PC won't have to cost you more than 1000 including everything, and that's all new stuff. Look into second hand and you can save hundreds.

It because I’m on SSI disability and I can’t any money or property that totals to $2,000 or more

K
KingOfCotadiellu · 1 year ago

so the total PC can't cost more than 2000, not each part.

But like I said, 1000 buys you good gaming PC that will last you years, 2000 is not a 'budget PC' but a 4K gaming monster.

EACH part less than $2000?

you can build a 4090 + 7800x3d build then

If you just wanted a list handed to you, then r/buildapcforme is the sub you're looking for

For $2,000 (USD) you're more into upper-mid (borderline top) tier than budget PC.

Actually don't do that, get intel 12400(F) or 12700(F), if you have the budget for 5800X, get 12700 instead because it's much faster.

B660 or H670 motherboard would work well, pick one with DDR4, and pair that with 2x8 or 2x16GB DDR4-3600 RAM.

$1500? Save 700-800 for everything else and the rest for GPU only. You can get a good 1440p gaming PC, or a really great 1080p PC

Start with a 12400F, B660 motherboard, 2x8GB 3600 CL16 RAM, 1TB SSD and a 650 to 750w PSU. It would be around $600-700 for everything but the GPU.

If you need to fit a monitor in the budget i would be a bit closer to $800-900 for part's (could be lower)

I don't know shit about computers but I'd love to have a computer to play multiplayer games, mod the shit out of games, play the og Fallouts and other pc only games. I just graduated high school so I don't have Adult Money yet, I just want a number/estimate of what to save up to once I get a job and all that.

Made a budget build here. Will do 1080p high refresh rate and 1440p 60hz fine. If you have a bigger budget you can upgrade the GPU, buy better ram, or get more storage.

Just wanted to give a second opinion.

I have a similar setup for my upstairs PC (was a Ryzen 5 5500 paired with a 6650 XT, which I upgraded to a 6750 XT)

This is an excellent build and I'd recommend spending a bit extra on a case that you like.

1 upvotes on reddit
AlternativeAngle2699 · 2 years ago

A beginner level gaming PC in my opinion would be around 500-1000$. This build will run any games at 1080p fine, if you are targeting this resolution.

You can do a quick search on YouTube for the gaming performance of the Ryzen 5600 and the AMD 6600 GPU. If you are satisfied with the frame rate it offers, then this build will give you great performance/price ratio.

Aggravating_Bowl_141 · 2 years ago

Hey I've just made a budget build for a friend I will post it later today

It is a great 1080p build and the price is:

Components are xeon 2697 v3 20$ X99 board 45 dollar Rx Vega 56 around 90
DDR 4 16 Gig 2133 20 Deep cool ch case 60 Some noctua redux fans 30 A fan hub 10 A used noctua cooler 90mm 25 New PSU 50

Ending up at 350 dollar !!

The 2697 is undervolted and Turbo unlocked So it has gaming performance comparable to a 5600 And render performance is amazing too Scores about 11900-12k in cinebench Rx Vega performance is like a 1080 Maybe a tiny bit less

So for the price this is the bang for the buck build It does not get cheaper than this

The case is amazing too I forgot the full name but it's the best budget case that there is

Of course the CPU ram and GPU are used prices Edit for those who don't know you don't need a Chinese x99 board necessarily you can do the same thing with an hp Board too

If you live in the USA you could be able to buy a hp z440 of ebay for like 100 -160 dollar (depending on your bidder luck)and just put the Vega in Would put you at 250 dollar total !!!

Then turbo unlock on the HP board is also possible.

One thing of course you would need too is investing some money into an SSD where you can use an m2 on a china board I used a 512gb that was 20dollar kioxia brand

If you bought a used z440 sellers often include SSD

You can also go for a lesser GPU like an rx580, new from AliExpress for 50

I would recommend the white elsa brand since those are new and not used

So either you can build the strong build I did for 370 dollar including the SSD now lol Or you can do it with an Rx 580 for 330

Or the z 440 build at 190 to 250 or 150 to 210 dollar respectively. In case you don't wanna do any modification to the bios and stay clear of chinese mobos. You could just use the hp z440 motherboard and take an e5 2667v3 instead. Since it has decent clocks already.

Even the weakest combination will suffice fully for the usecase you mentioned and beyond it.

$3000+ will get you god tier, $1500 will net you a solid PC. If you're willing to sacrifice and play fast and loose with used parts, you can do a reasonable 1080p rig for $500-700.

Looking for Budget Gaming PC Advice

Posted by Goldheart27 · in r/buildapc · 6 years ago

Hello!

I think I've finally put together a PC list that I'm happy with. My goal is 1080p 60+fps AAA gaming at high+ settings on games like Destiny 2 and Fallout 76. I'm completely new to all of this, so I was wondering if there is anything I should change.

I've put together this list before Black Friday/Cyber Monday in order to have a starting price point.

Thank you for any feedback! :)

Budget gaming pc

Just wanted to share my budget gaming pc gave it a few upgrades today and finally did a bit of cable management (as opposed to none). Nothing too exciting - no fancy lights or anything but it runs great and does the job no matter what I throw at it

Next upgrades will be mobo, cpu and more ram. Probably some better cooling along with that.

Any tips on what to look for for a decent semi budget motorcycle, cpu + ram and cooling would be much appreciated too!

Specs:

Ryzen 5 2600

Gigabyte B450M S2H

2x 8gb T-force Vulcan ddr4

Kingston A400 250gb ssd Toshiba 1TB HDD Samsung 970 evo plus 500gb SSD

It's overkill for what you want to do, but at least you're investing in parts that won't be obsolete anytime soon. If you wanted to go cheaper, you could find a used 3600 for around 190$, pick up a budget B450 motherboard, and find a used gtx 980 for 250$. Prices are all over the place right now, finding a video card that's worth the investment is difficult.

Best Budget Gaming PC

Key Considerations for a Budget Gaming PC:

  1. Budget Range: Define your budget. A good entry-level gaming PC typically ranges from $600 to $1,000.

  2. CPU: Look for a solid processor like the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel Core i5-11400. These provide good performance for gaming without breaking the bank.

  3. GPU: The graphics card is crucial for gaming. Aim for options like the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 6600, which offer good performance for 1080p gaming.

  4. RAM: At least 16GB of RAM is recommended for gaming to ensure smooth performance.

  5. Storage: Consider an SSD (at least 500GB) for faster load times. A combination of SSD for the OS and a larger HDD for games can also be a cost-effective solution.

  6. Upgradability: Choose a PC that allows for future upgrades. This can extend the life of your system as gaming demands increase.

Recommendations:

  • SkyTech Archangel: This pre-built gaming PC often comes with a Ryzen 5 5600X, GTX 1660 Super, and 16GB RAM, making it a great option for budget-conscious gamers.

  • iBUYPOWER Element Mini 9300: Another solid choice, featuring an Intel Core i5, GTX 1650, and 8GB RAM, which can be upgraded later.

  • DIY Build: If you're comfortable building your own PC, consider sourcing parts like the Ryzen 5 5600G, GTX 1660 Super, and a 500GB SSD. This can often save you money and allow for customization.

Takeaway: Prioritize a good balance of CPU and GPU for gaming performance, and ensure you have enough RAM and storage for a smooth experience. Building your own PC can often yield better value for your budget.
