I’m looking for a smart toaster oven with WiFi. But like, not just for the gimmick-I want it to actually do something useful. Any recommendations?

I feel you. Some of them just have WiFi for the sake of it, but if you want a solid one, check out the Breville Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro. It’s got smart cooking presets, a crazy good air fryer function, and the app actually helps instead of just existing.

That sounds solid. How’s the app tho? Some of these apps are just there to send updates like “your toast is done” 🤦‍♂️

Oh, easy. Get the Ninja Foodi Smart XL Pro. It does everything—toast, bake, broil, air fry, dehydrate, and even has a smart thermometer so your food doesn’t come out dry as a rock.

I would recommend the KitchenAid KCO211BM. It’s a great toaster oven that can toast, bake, broil, and warm up your food. It has a large capacity, a digital display, and a non-stick interior. It also comes with a baking pan and a rack. It’s easy to use and clean, and it looks nice on the countertop. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s worth it if you want a quality toaster oven that can handle any task.

Best toaster oven?

Posted by [deleted] · in r/toasterovenmasterrace · 4 years ago

I've been searching for quite some time for a good toaster oven and I've found 3 models come up pretty consistently but coverage and comparisons online seem very lacking.

Breville BOV800XL Oster XL Digital Convection Oven w/ French Doors Ninja® Foodi™ 10-in-1 XL Pro Air Fry Oven, Large Countertop Convection Oven

Some have an air fryer, some don't. It'd be nice but I don't care about it all that much. Bigger is better but not at the expense of quality. Breville does make a model with an air sryer but it's crazy expensive and I'm at the end of my rope with this toaster oven thing so I'd appreciate genuine knowledge on the subject.

I have this one and regret nothing: https://smile.amazon.com/Breville-BOV900BSS-Convection-Brushed-Stainless/dp/B01N5UPTZS

The only small downside is that it's not the greatest at making toast (ironic, I know) but I'm not a big toast eater so it's nbd.

I was considering that one but it's more money, only slightly larger and I really never air fry. I got the one step down model instead.

I've got the Breville BOV450XL and I love it.

It's been about 8 years now and it's still going strong. The start button occasionally changes the temperature from F to C instead of starting, but that's a very recent development. Even if that ends up killing the machine, that's lasted about 7 years longer than any other toaster oven I've owned.

It browns toast beautifully and does a great job as a small oven as well.

I haven't used that Oster, nor any in the past 8 years, but I had one before my Breville and it broke after a few months. It had good ratings on Amazon, so I might have just been unlucky.

Should the best toaster oven Cuisinart TOB-260N1 be your next upgrade?

Posted by 2Equivalent2 · in r/EverydayTechTried · 1 month ago

Testing out the Cuisinart TOB-260N1 has been quite an experience for me, as someone who spends a lot of time cooking and baking at home. I’ve had my fair share of toaster ovens in the past, and this one piqued my interest with its array of features. Its design, capacity, and performance made me eager to put it through the paces. While this product has been a great addition to my kitchen, there are certainly some things you should be aware of before committing to it.

Sturdy Design with Thoughtful Features

Right off the bat, the brushed stainless steel construction gives this toaster oven a sleek and professional appearance. It fits surprisingly well into my somewhat cramped kitchen, though it’s definitely a larger appliance. I found the layout of the controls intuitive, and the large blue backlit digital display is easy to read, even when I’m half-asleep making breakfast. The auto-slide rack is a neat touch, sparing me from the occasional hand burns I’m prone to while removing hot trays. The attention to detail continues with the non-stick interior, which makes cleaning a breeze.

Versatile Functions That Cover Everything

What really sold me on this convection toaster oven is the insane versatility it offers. With 1800 watts of power, I’ve been able to use it for an endless list of tasks—baking cookies, broiling salmon, toasting bread, reheating leftover lasagna, and even cooking a decent pizza on its included pizza stone. The dual-cook feature has seriously changed the way I approach making layered dishes. The Exact Heat sensor does an admirable job of maintaining consistent temperatures, and the "Always Even" toast shade control has been reliable for getting the perfect level of browning. I didn’t expect to enjoy the "keep-warm" option as much as I have, but it’s a lifesaver during busy evenings when my dinner companions are perpetually late.

Check Cuisinart TOB-260N1 price on Amazon.

Surprising Capacity for Its Size

Another highlight is its capacity. I’ve managed to fit a 13-inch pizza and a full 9x13-inch baking pan inside without any awkward rearranging, which is impressive for a toaster oven. Being able to toast up to nine slices of bread at once seems excessive for my small household but has been a game-changer for family brunches and lazy Sunday mornings. For those who like entertaining or have a bigger family, the spacious interior will undoubtedly prove useful.

Cooking Accessories and Bonus Features

Alongside the pizza stone, the package includes an enamel baking pan, broiling pan, and two cooking racks. While I haven’t used every accessory yet, the pizza stone won my heart instantly by delivering crisp yet chewy pizza bases. There’s even an interior light that helps in monitoring food—something I didn’t appreciate until I realized how much I used it. The timer and clock are straightforward to adjust, and the front pull-out crumb tray has saved me a ton of cleanup after toast-heavy breakfasts.

Upsides

  • Sleek, durable stainless-steel design fits most modern kitchens
  • Wide variety of cooking modes, including dual cook and convection
  • Spacious interior accommodating pizzas, large pans, and more
  • Added convenience with auto-slide rack and interior light
  • Non-stick interior significantly eases cleanup
  • Includes several high-quality accessories such as pizza stone and pans

Areas of Improvement

  • The size of the oven might not suit everyone, especially those with small counter spaces.
  • Preheat time is a bit longer compared to simpler toaster ovens.
  • Although the oven feels sturdy, the buttons have a slightly less premium feel than I expected for its price range.
  • It does tend to heat up the surrounding area, which could be a drawback in warmer climates.

Product Alternatives

While this product has exceeded my expectations in many ways, it’s not the only quality toaster oven on the market. Brands like Breville and Ninja offer competitive models. For instance, Breville’s Smart Oven Air is a strong contender, with its excellent air-frying capabilities and faster preheat times, though it comes at a higher cost. On the other hand, Ninja’s Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven provides similar cooking versatility with the bonus of being more compact, which might be better for smaller kitchens. However, neither quite matches the Cuisinart model’s spacious interior and solid all-around performance for various cooking tasks.

Worth Every Penny

In terms of value for its features, this toaster oven strikes a decent balance. Admittedly, it sits on the pricier side for toaster ovens, but the wide functionality, thoughtful design, and build quality make it a worthy investment for avid home cooks. Instead of having several small appliances cluttering your kitchen, this product combines various capabilities into one flexible machine. If you’re on a tight budget, there are less expensive options, but they likely won’t offer the same level of cooking precision or spacious capacity. This is one of those cases where you truly get what you pay for.

Which toaster oven should I buy?

Posted by Finnabe-amilli · in r/Cooking · 2 years ago

I need help to decide on what toaster oven I should get, please help with suggestions. My main things are: -should preheat in the “bake” setting in a couple of minutes -should make a sound or notify when preheat is done -will mainly use it to make salmon, chicken or brownies/cookies

  • preferably a medium sized one, not too big not too small. -good quality and easy to clean, I really want this to last and not blow out in a few months to a year.

Additions: I hear the Ninja SP351 also has a thermostat option where it turns off once the chicken reaches desired temp, that would be really nice. So if I could find something like that as well, would be amazing.

Maybe not what you’re looking for but wanted to add my 2 cents. Get an air fryer. They have them in the shape of toaster ovens or the “simple” (and I use that term loosely) drawer ones. I got mine from Costco for $40 a year ago, it’s now $50. It’s amazing. And as for toast for toasting toast you can get a good quality inexpensive one from Walmart for like $15-20 if you don’t do a lot of actual toasting. Ours bit the dust last year and we splurged on a cuisinart 4 slot toaster, also from Costco, also “only” $50. It’s amazing and I absolutely love it :) and I can bake shit in my air fryer while toasting bread and not have to worry about overlapping times 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you only want a fast preheat phase with audio cue, I recommend the Cosori CO130-AO. It actually preheats to the exact input temperature and it's very affordable as well.
If you further want a built-in meat thermometer (so that it turns off on the food's desired internal temperature), I recommend the Ninja DT251. It's a great family-size and doesn't break the bank.

I have the Ninja 10 in 1 XL, not one of the flipping models. It's been in use for almost a full year now, I'd say average use of 10-12 uses per week in a variety of ways. Most recently I made some burritos - baked them for 12 min and then put the air fry on for 2 min to crisp up the tortillas without adding oil.

I've had to clean it thoroughly after the first time making bacon in it and decided I'd continue to only buy cooked bacon afterward. It's big enough that it's not difficult to clean, but it still sucked. Most of what I make in it doesn't spatter or pop and wiping off crumbs and burnt cheese bits isn't terrible.

What's the current best toaster oven BIFL favorite?

Posted by DinglerBerries · in r/BuyItForLife · 1 year ago

I posted this on another smaller sub and didnt get any responses. This is why I should just stick to asking questions here...

I have a few of my top choices in mind here... what is typically regarded as the best BIFL toaster oven? It looks like the Cosari air fryer/oven combo is good, if not the best. Wondering what people use, how long they have owned it for, and how they like it? Im also looking at the black and decker brand, but to me black and decker symbolizes middle tier equipment, so probably going to go with the cosari

Main things Id use for:

-Chicken :D

-Chicken wings

-more f'in chicken

-toast

We've had the Brevelle smart oven Pro since 2019 it gets used daily and we love it and use it to cook so many things...we roast veggies in it, cook frozen pizzas, make toast, reheat pizza in it etc. We use it more often than our regular oven as it's great for cooking smaller amounts of things and saves energy instead of turning on the gas oven.

I would buy another one and recommend Brevelle to others.

The only thing I really hate about toaster ovens in general is you cannot really clean the insides of them. If someone has a solution for this that actually works, I am all ears. I haven't found any good ways to do this and searched high and low online for solutions.

Breville toaster ovens are quality products while they’re working, but they’re not known to last as long as most others.

I have had 4 breville toaster ovens (each one gifted to someone when I or they move) with the oldest being nearly 15 years old. they all still work with minimal maitinence (just normal cleaning) and the only real complaint being how hard it can be to clean the smell out of the air fry fan.

Agreed. We’ve had our Breville for 15 years and have had nothing break. I can’t speak to more recent models but we love ours

We’ve used our Breville daily for years nine years. For four years it was our only oven. Roasted holiday meals, literally everything. Best appliance I’ve ever owned.

I go to a shop in Brooklyn that is a specialty grocery and cookbook store; they do toasted sandwiches for food and use this toaster. When I was considering, I asked the shopkeeper if they like it and she said “that thing is a beast”.

I ordered it as I left the shop and it’s been phenomenal ever since. It’s a little funky because the temperature increments are in Celsius, and you can’t modify your settings once it’s started, but otherwise it’s great. The hash brown setting is by far the most underrated toaster oven feature.

Best toaster oven ever! I've had mine for a decade. It's the perfect size.

I am such a huge fan of the Ninja Foodi toaster oven. Have had zero issues in 2 years and use it multiple times a day. They also came out with a double rack style so you can cook things at different temps at the same time.

My wife bought the 11 in 1 with the air fryer and as much as I wanted to hate it (I think toaster ovens are redundant) I love the damn thing. It preheats in seconds and works great.

In 20 years we've lost a couple but they still make a solid oven with good electronics.

Got a Cuisinart air fryer/toaster oven - worked great for about a year when suddenly half the dial functions (used the most) like toast and air fry stopped working...a couple weeks later they all stopped working. Read reviews on Amazon on this model and there were dozens of reviews with the same complaint. It is, at this moment, at the bottom of my driveway awaiting a ride in the trash truck

Check out Cuisiniart from this article. It seems to be the best toaster oven air fryer. It's not that expensive and has good reviews on amazon.

Cuisinart, from my experience, must be French for 'expensive garbage'. Coffee maker broke w/in a year, air fryer stopped working after a year. Never again. NOTE: the Cuisinart air fryer/toaster oven I bought on Amazon was purchased based mostly on glowing reviews - so I got it. A year later - when it broke - I went back and looked at the reviews - dozens of 1-stars with the same problem where functions stop working. Amazon's 'reviews' are complete BS, I've been burned by them before.

A tip for Amazon reviews is to switch the setting from Top Reviews to Most Recent. It's generally a lot more helpful.

Yeah, there are definitely good ones out there, but a lot of cheaper models don’t hold up long-term. When I was looking, I came across this AF product database sheet that lets you filter by type, features, and build quality, which made it easier to compare combo options. I ended up going with the VAL CUCINA brand, and it’s been great - spacious, heats evenly, and feels well-built overall.

I've used the Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven for air frying, toasting, and baking, and so far, it has performed well in all three functions.

I want a simple, 2-slice toaster that I won't have to replace every few years

Posted by cspawn · in r/BuyItForLife · 2 years ago

Can anyone recommend a high quality toaster that will last? I don't need any fancy controls, in fact, the fewer the better. Just a toasty level dial and nothing more ideally.

I don't need Bluetooth & wifi, I don't need a special setting for gluten free bread. I just want a simple box that I put bread into and get toast out of. And I want it to outlive me. Is this too much to ask?

Edit: now y'all have sent me down a rabbit hole. I've definitely gone through a few of the super cheap Walmart ones, they do last a surprisingly long time. I'd like to upgrade in overall quality to be honest.

It seems like Dualit might be worth it in the long run. Or just saving and grabbing a proper toaster oven. Oooor a vintage Sunbeam... I thought this would make things easier, hahaha! Thank you for the recommendations.

We have a Breville that's been giving us good toast for over a decade. I like it because it has a button for frozen bread that is like voodoo.

Our Breville went wonky a month after the one-year warranty ran out. Over the next couple of years it started fading to the point where it couldn’t brown the toast even if run through two full cycles on its highest setting.

Wirecutter says you can’t buy a good toaster any more.

Comedian Tim Heidecker recently made a video complaining that his Breville toaster broke after 7 - 8 years, with an “E05” error code that won’t disappear. Hopefully yours will continue to last and Tim just got a bad one.

I have a Cuisinart 2 slice toaster that still works great after 17 years...

We got a 4 slice Cuisinart from Costco - maybe 18 years ago? It always toasts one side darker than the other, so we have to flip the bread halfway through. So annoying. But the upside is I would love to replace it, and it just will not die!

I thrifted a 2 slice Cuisinart about 15 years ago so I don’t know how old it is but it works great. Everyday.

Best Smart Toaster Oven

Key Considerations for Choosing a Smart Toaster Oven:

  1. Cooking Functions: Look for a toaster oven that offers multiple cooking functions such as baking, broiling, toasting, air frying, and dehydrating. This versatility allows you to prepare a variety of meals.

  2. Smart Features: Consider models with smart features like Wi-Fi connectivity, app control, and voice assistant compatibility (e.g., Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant) for convenience and ease of use.

  3. Capacity: Ensure the toaster oven has enough interior space to accommodate your cooking needs, whether it's for a small family or larger meals. A capacity of around 0.5 to 1 cubic feet is common.

  4. Temperature Control: Look for precise temperature settings and even heating to ensure your food is cooked thoroughly and evenly.

  5. Ease of Cleaning: A removable crumb tray and non-stick interior can make cleaning much easier. Some models also have self-cleaning features.

Recommendation: The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is highly regarded for its versatility and smart features. It offers 13 cooking functions, a large capacity, and excellent temperature control. It also includes an air frying function, which is a great addition for healthier cooking.

If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, consider the Hamilton Beach Smart Toaster Oven, which offers essential smart features and good performance at a lower price point.
