I feel like this is the only correct answer in terms of action especially with how absurd and brutal some of the fights got especially in DBZ

If you can get through the slow beginning of black clover, it’s all action all the time.

Fairy tail also has some pretty good action and dragon ball z is THE fighting anime

Don't watch Fairy Tail.

Read the manga if you really want to, but it's a crappy shounen.

Black Clover improves a lot over the course of the show/manga.

violent/action anime?

Posted by Muscularweeeb · in r/Animesuggest · 6 months ago

I hardcore study 24/7 so I like to detox and smoke / watch anime with a lot of action/violence and a bad ass main character. Some romance would be preferable but no teases. Need it to make me want to procrastinate 😂

Regarding gory/violence, I’m in my lab majority of my days so the more gore the better, Invincible is the perfect example. Other shows I can think of that I’ve seen like this are blade of the immortal, black lagoon, afro samurai, dororo, 86, undead unluck, AOT, tokyo ghoul, elfen leid, deadman wonderland, etc. Edo period is typically my favorite but it’s tough to find shows I haven’t seen, and with a somewhat decent romance and “cool character”.

I’ve seen pretty much everything mainstream honestly. Think MAL is at 300+ now. I’m currently out of shows to watch so I’d appreciate any recommendations! Thank you!

Check out {Baccano!}, its about 1930s immortal gangsters. The plot a bit confusing at first, but once you realize it is telling the story from 3 different points in time and jumping between them, it makes a lot more sense.

Plenty of violence and one of my favorite OPs

Any recommendations based off what I’ve watched? My favorites being attack on titan & Deathnote. I love battle style anime, great animation, and little to no comedy. Please read description for my hot takes!

Currently still watching Windbreaker (love the fighting animations), eminence in shadow, and JJK. Eminence in shadow and JJK haven’t struck me enough to keep watching but they have high respect so I’m holding on.

I really LOVED demon slayer and solo leveling. Kaiju #8 caught my attention even with all the comedy. Blue lock was just PEAK.

Nothing will ever top AOT tho in my opinion. From the animation, to the intricate storyline, just a masterpiece!

Please give me good recs! Thank you in advance!

If you liked Death note and AOT, you'll love Code geass, as AOT got really inspired by Code geass for making it's show (no hatinf I love both, but it's true hahaha) and Light and Lelouch (code geass 's mc) have some things in common. It's one of the best series out there, I hope you'll like it :D

Shows with the Best Action Choreography

Posted by Future-Ad-1116 · in r/Tokusatsu · 1 month ago

So I've been watching King-Ohger and while I love the story and characters, dang that action is kinda poor. Flashy effects and not much substance. Then I switch over to Kamen Rider Gavv and the fights look so good. So I wanted to get y'all's thoughts, what are the shows with the best action? (Shout out to anything Kiyotaka Taguchi has worked on, his Ultraman stuff is second to none for action)

From the top of my head, for sentai I'd say Shinkenger, Go-busters, Kyoryuger, Lupinranger Vs Patranger and Ryusoulger are all a blast in the action department.

I haven't watched that many Kamenr Rider shows, but I like the action in Kuuga,. Agito, W and Drive (not the only ones I've watched, but again, from the top of my head). Very distinc styles, but they all are really good.

Also Garo is just the coolest in the fighting coreography and overall action direction department.

PS: Damn, King-ohger is indeed lackluster in that area.

Thanks for the recs!

(and yeah, I love the everything else in King-Ohger but the kid in me who grew up with martial arts films is just kinda depressed when they do the same slashing motion with the same effect every episode)

>...but the kid in me who grew up with martial arts films is just kinda depressed when they do the same slashing motion with the same effect every episode)

Exactly! I feel the same! The kid toku fan in me need that cool fighting choreography and classic toku feel. Those slo-mo slashing moves are just boring. And, like, I know they were experimenting with something new, but after decades of experience with toku action, that's what they came up with for such a grand show? Definitely a disappointment.

Geats iirc has the same action director as Gavv, the choreography there is top tier as well

Blazar and Arc also have some great choreo on the Ultraman side of things

for Sentai, Gozyuger and Boonboomger have some amazing choreo as well

If you like Gavv action check out Geats. Zero-One was also slick but not as much as those two. Gozyuger and Lupat on Sentai side are up there for me too.

Funnily enough i was actually bored so i rewatched the first 4 episodes today and was unimpressed compared to when i was younger, the show definitely picks up though and carries some deep themes, it just suffered from tonal shifting due to bad reviews about the dark and serious tone they initially went with while it was airing.

I’m really into action and fighting and shooting and sword fighting and all that kinda stuff. Stuff from the 90s and 2000s are kinda dull to me, tho there still are some greats. I’m just tryna watch some of the newer stuff for now.

I’ve see dorohedoro, solo leveling, and wind breaker which were all greats.

I also don’t really want see the characters hold back in any way, or have some kind of code against killing or harming.

One Piece (I don't like this one but everyone else loves it)

Pokémon

My Hero Academia

Jujutsu Kaisen

Inuyasha

The Rising of the Shield Hero

Mob Psycho 100

Overlord

Tokyo Ghoul (another one I don't like but people seems to like it)

Macross (the "continuation" Robotech is not good, though)

best action anime

Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Action Anime:

 1. Storyline: Look for anime with engaging plots that keep you invested. A strong narrative often enhances the action sequences.

 2. Animation Quality: High-quality animation can significantly elevate the viewing experience, especially during fight scenes.

 3. Character Development: Well-developed characters add depth to the action, making you care about their journeys and struggles.

 4. Genre Blend: Some of the best action anime blend other genres (like fantasy, sci-fi, or horror) to create a richer experience.

 5. Popularity and Reviews: Consider critically acclaimed series or those with a strong fan following, as they often indicate quality.

Top Recommendations:

 1. Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin): Known for its intense action, deep storyline, and character development. The animation quality is exceptional, especially in battle scenes.

 2. My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia): A blend of action and superhero themes, it features a diverse cast of characters and a compelling story about heroism and growth.

 3. Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba): Praised for its stunning animation and emotional depth, it follows a young boy fighting demons to save his sister.

 4. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: A mix of action, adventure, and philosophy, it has a rich storyline and well-developed characters, making it a must-watch.

 5. Jujutsu Kaisen: A newer series that has quickly gained popularity for its dynamic fight scenes, engaging characters, and a mix of horror and action elements.

Takeaway: Each of these series offers a unique blend of action, storytelling, and character development, making them stand out in the genre. Consider your personal preferences in themes and styles when choosing which to watch!
