TL;DR
Affordable Options Near Subway Stations
For travelers seeking affordable accommodations with easy access to subway stations, several options stand out. The L7 Myeongdong LOTTE is a four-star hotel located close to the subway, providing convenience for exploring the city [2:1]. Similarly, Travelodge Myeongdong Euljiro offers rooms priced between $40-$70 per night and is situated near Euljiro-3 station, making it a practical choice for budget-conscious visitors
[2:2].
Budget-Friendly Choices
Seoul N Hotel Dongdaemun is another cost-effective option, priced at approximately 40,000 KRW per night. Although the surrounding alleys may not be the most appealing, the hotel itself offers a comfortable stay and is about a ten-minute walk from the subway station [2:3]. DW Hongdae is also recommended for its affordability and proximity to Hongik University Station, though guests have noted that the walls are somewhat thin
[2:5].
Central Locations for Solo Travelers
For solo travelers, ZaZa Backpackers in Myeongdong provides private rooms with amenities like air conditioning, refrigerators, and washing machines for around €50 per night. It's conveniently located near a subway station, although transfers may be necessary [5:1]. Another option is Tommy's Place in Jongno, which is within walking distance of both the subway and Insadong
[5:3].
Recommendations Beyond the Discussions
While these discussions offer valuable insights, it's important to consider additional factors such as reviews on booking platforms, proximity to attractions you plan to visit, and any specific amenities you might need during your stay. Checking recent reviews can provide updated information on service quality and guest experiences.
Hello everyone,
We are travelling to Seoul as 3 adults in June and are looking for hotel recommendations preferably 5 star or comfortable 4 stars with a budget of around 220 USD per night.
Would appreciate any recommendations that is clean, and is close to the tourstic spots or has easy transport access.
Thanks
I booked at Lotte City Hotel for 8 nights at 90 dollars a night via Expedia. It was actually a really great experience. Usually the rooms are closer to 220 a night, if not more. It’s in Myeongdong and we were able to walk or metro or bus or taxi anywhere relatively quickly and inexpensively. I like having a centralized location that lets me have a little comfort when I retreat while being able to push my language and cultural (I am half Korean, but not perfectly fluent by any means with language or culture) boundaries during the day while I explore, and this was a super sweet spot for me.
I also recently stayed here and it was also a great experience!
I also recently stayed here and it was also a great experience!
Every time….. https://seoul.intercontinental.com/grandicparnas/eng/
I just booked The Plaza Autograph Collection in Myeongdong. Hoping I made a good choice!
Sounds good. It’s the boutique hotel arm part of Marriott!
The Shilla Seoul
Four Seasons. Always my favorite in Seoul.
I’ll be traveling to Seoul in October with my girlfriend, both in our 20s. Can anyone recommend affordable hotels (30$-60$ a night) ideally with easy access to the subway
I went to Travelodge Myeongdong Euljiro. It was good, about 40-70$ a night, and was right next to the subway station Euljiro-3 with Line 1 and 3. Very convenient.
Hi! Thinking of staying at the same travelodge too. Did you find the rooms small? Also by any chance do you know if they store luggage past checkout? Thanks!
Imo I didn't find the room small. I had enough place to put my carry-on and the bathroom was good. And yes you can. I didn't in my case, but I think it was feasible. You can always contact them by email to be sure.
Seoul N Hotel Dondaemun is nice. Have to walk through a few less nice looking alleys to get there but hotel itself was quite good and only 40,000 krw a night. About 10 min walk from the subway station.
On our way home from South Korea today, the rooftop is still accessible as of writing. Enjoy your trip!
I stayed in DW Hongdae recently- it was a nice area and very near Hongik University Station. The rooms are quite small and I wore earplugs because the walls were a bit thin, but overall no problems and totally affordable. They also have some industrial sized washers and a dryer you can use, which was also nice!
I stayed here recently as well and it's super no frills, good for the price would recommend it as well.
That’s a love motel budget in Seoul. Sorry.
I’m seeing prices <$60 a night at places like Hotel Skypark Dongdaemun, Toyoko Inn Seoul Gangnam, Hotel Skypark Myeongdong 2. To my foreign eyes these look legit, but are they love hotels? Thank you
I went last month and I stayed at the L7 Myeongdong LOTTE, it was quite affordable 4 star hotel and the subway station was located super close to the hotel entrance.
>L7 Myeongdong LOTTE
This is the one with a rooftop bar and footbath right? I think. A friend of mine was staying there and I was at another hotel down the street. The rooftop footbath has an excellent evening view of the Seoul tower.
I don't know. I took Korean Air when I went to Korea, but it was because I had to transit through the US with Delta. I can only recommend to not transit through the states. Did not had any problem, but Atlanta airport is a shitty airport.
It was the first, and last time that I will fly in the US.
Korean Air was nice, but also I never personally had any issue with Air Canada. But I would say it's worth to pay more to stay within Canada, no matter the carrier, and to not transit through the US if this applies to you.
Planning to go to Korea in early April pero wala pa kaming (2 pax) booked na accommodation. What's your best budget hotel reco? Preferably near a train station sana. Thank you!
We stayed at Travelodge Myeongdong City Hall and even got a free night from using MasterCard.
T Mark Hotel Myeongdong ☺️ literally right infront is a night market where you can buy trinkets for pasalubong and also lots of street food. few steps away lng yung train station :)

hi
Seoulite Inn Myeongdong (also appears as Step Inn Myeongdong 2 in Google)
Really nice location in Myeongdong - next door to Olive Young, on the central street where the street food stalls are, and near the cathedral. The rooms are small but offer free breakfast and a shared kitchen. They also have laundry machines.
I am looking for a hotel to stay in Seoul in mid-April. The Hotel Firststay myeongdong caught my eye. Has anyone stayed in it? What was your experience? Also, do you have any other hotel recommendations that are close to Seoul station? I’ve heard is very convenient to stay near Seoul station since it takes you everywhere. Thank you in advance!
There are >500 reviews of just that hotel on Agoda.
Is that a good sign? Bad sign?
It means go read them.
We stay at President Hotel(4 star hotel).
The perks:
Walkable distance to Myeongdong station and Lotte World Hotel and other malls.
Hotel was clean with great staff(the cleaning staff gave us a bag to store our takeaway food as we couldn't find a plastic bag or anything to throw our food away.
We could see the Seoul tower from our hotel and also the monitor the traffic in the morning/night from our hotel view.
First time visitor and I'm overwelmed with how many hotels there are, any suggestions for budjet solo travelers?
Btw Okay with up to 40 min travel time to the city
You do not want to travel into the city every day for tourist sites - it is crowded, stressful, and not worth it.
Book a HOSTEL either dorm or private room - that’s about as cheap as you’re going to get and be comfortable.
And Hongdae will have the most of these and you are in a great location to enjoy your time.
Do NOT stay outside of central Seoul, you will hate yourself everyday lol
Staying in Seongsu area, not exactly central Seoul. Takes about 45 mins by subway to get to Hongdae, 30 to Myeongdong, 30 to Itaewon, 45 to Gyeongbokgung Palace. IME it’s not the worst getting there, but it does suck if you want to stay out a little later but you have to get back to the subway if you want to make the last train, otherwise you’ll have to take a bus which could easily turn into an hour+ because of wait times/slower commute. And you can’t just easily walk home. Also spending subway fares every single day can add up if you’re going from area to area.
Seongsu is absolutely central Seoul for people that live here haha
But also it even depends on where exactly in Seongsu because of transit and subway
What I mean is areas like yeongdeungpo and nowon etc that are technically Seoul
Check out Tommy's Place. It's in Jongno. Walking distance to subway and also Insadong.
hotel dm is in the dongdaemun area. 5 mins walk from hotel to dongmyo station and very central to all the tourist sites imo. about 70 a night for a single room
Idk what you consider budget but the Namsan Wecostay is on airbnb for 85-100 a night, I can't remember exactly. It's right above chungmuro station. Absolutely the most convenient place we stayed.
I booked a private room at ZaZa backpackers (on Airbnb). It’s in Myeongdong & it was around €50 for a night. Big room, seperate big bathroom, aircon, refrigerator & washing machine. Also common rooms with a lot of amenities! Subway station is couple of minutes walk from there, it’s not a big one tho so you’ll have to transfer at least once. But I 1000% recommend!
I'll definitely check it out
Yeah it looks like it's 41 for a single bed
Hi everyone! A friend and I are heading to Seoul soon and we’ll be staying for 4 nights. We’re looking for recommendations for a great place to stay – ideally a hotel or Airbnb that’s super clean, in a well-connected area, and preferably central or walkable to some fun spots.
We’d love something a little unique or with a cool vibe – it doesn’t have to be super budget, but nothing too fancy either. Something that feels like a little experience on its own would be amazing!
Our budget is up to around €100 per night (for both of us) – so about ₩145,000 per night.
If anyone has stayed somewhere they loved (or has tips on neighborhoods to look in), we’d really appreciate your advice!
What are your ages? Are you into nightlife? Do you prefer to be close to tourist attractions even if it’s more touristy, or do you prefer something more off the beaten path?
Generally Myeongdong, Hongdae, Insadong, and Dongdaemun are the most popular areas with tourists, each with it own charms.
Hi I'm going in early November to Seoul for 4 nights. First time! and me and my partner want recommendations on an Hotel that is well located and affordable.
We don't know if breakfast included is worth it. We wish to avoid if possible, those shower sink situations and rooms with no windows. We have found some options but reviews are very variable
Our budget is around 400 usd for all 4 nights.
We have seen the
I booked one for 2026 called The Spashir (myeong-dong) that has super high reviews, it is a Japanese chain but it is at the very upper end of your budget (it's about £85-90 gbp a night). It looks really good (to me anyways)
Out of the 4 I would pick the Dormy Inn, if it's as good as they are in Japan they are very decent for the money.
We stayed at the Splaisir last year! We really enjoyed it, it can feel a bit cramped as the beds take up a lot of room and the windows didn't open in our room, but it was clean, quiet, and the location was perfect. Close to City Hall subway station, which is on Line 2 and connects to all the tourist spots. Myeongdong was a short walk to get to, there are underground walkways connecting to Myeongdong by the hotel. Namdaemun was right across the street.
Hey thanks! I like the suggestion and other Dormy but I worry about location, are these well located?
Insadong is a good location, lots of food places and near the cultural sites
I'm sure there's a lot of great hotel breakfasts out there but also some pretty bad ones - maybe ask the hotel what's offered, and mix it up with having breakfast at some nice cafes or korean restaurants?
I recommend Dormy Inn. They have free ramen every night and Free ice cream too. They give welcome desserts in your room. It differs per branch. They have an onsen similar to their branches in Japan. If you ever decide on dormy Inn, book at their website as it's cheaper than booking sites.
I won't comment on hotels within your budget. FYI it's not always easy to find a place open for breakfast or even coffee depending on where you stay, what you like to eat and how early you wake up. I'm an early riser and so hotel breakfasts/buffets were just easier for me
I heard that we are not early birds usually but it's traveling so we totally will wake up early early
Maybe try Hotel Gracery Seoul, it could be over the Budget but it would be totally worth it (20, 21 floor with View over the palace)
Hi! Will be staying in korea for 3 weeks. Can anyone recommend me a good place OR A GOOD WAY to spend the most minimum or even nothing in terms of accommodation? If there’s somewhere that would cost less than 10,000krw that would be great.
Or somewhere I could sleep for free (or any hacks about it lol) thank you!!
10,000 for an accommodation? Not happening. I’m sorry
Save up and come when you can afford it.
I never said I am not able to afford it, 10,000krw or up to ten times the price it doesn’t matter. I just wanted to know if its possible for me to spend with the cheapest option in Korea as I am not picky on accommodations.
But I appreciate your honesty though, thanks!
You won’t find free accommodation nor any for 10,000 a night. The average low quality motel or love hotel is going to run you 50-70,000 per night. An Airbnb will be about that too.
When traveling to Korea it’s recommended you budget 70-100,000 won per day. Excluding accommodation costs and airfare.
Hongdae hostel - largest selection of them are there and they’ll have more competitive prices. You won’t be able to sleep anywhere for free. Jjimjilbangs are not places to sleep for visitors - they don’t offer bag storage and are not designed for travelers like that.
What’s your total accommodation budget? A goshiwon is the best bet. But like stated above, it’s a very small private room. They are very loud. Most likely a shared bathroom for men only. But it depends on the part of town you’re looking at. 10,000 won a night is extremely low for the budget. And unfortunately, three weeks might be too short to get a discount for an extended stay. It might depend on the place.
For context, I am a woman and I stayed the month of May and a female only goshiwon. Because I stayed for 30 days the fee was 25USD (booked they Airbnb) a night so around 550 for the month. It was my homebase. I traveled a lot, and I knew my stuff would be safe in this place. If I had to sleep there every night I would have went insane. It was loud. But doable. Make sure you have noise canceling earbuds and sleep buds and headphones and earplugs. Lol.
Otherwise, there is a shared kitchen. You can save a lot of money by finding a grocery store and buying food to cook. Otherwise the triangle kimbap at Convenient stores is pretty decent.
This is very helpful. Thank you! I’m currently considering a goshiwon priced 15K KRW a night, its near SKKU and my friend goes there. Thank you!
Awesome. Makes sense they’re cheaper near the uni. Good luck and have fun!
A goshiwon is probably the cheapest you’ll find, there’s some on Airbnb and booking.com. Not always the most pleasant place to stay, and the rooms are tiny, but it’s cheap. You can also find them on other sites like goshipages, but they usually want at least a month’s stay.
But not for 10,000w a night!
Thanks!! Will definitely check it out
Try on Hostelworld for some cheap accomodation. Some of them offer free breakfast and are on good locations! Hope you can find something according to your budget!

What is “affordable”. You should always budget 80 usd per day, for travel accommodation at a minimum. If you can’t then save until you can and travel when you can actually afford to do so.
What is an affordable price range to you? Hongdae has more guesthouses and hostels that are generally cheaper. You might have to look at other neighborhoods if you can't find something in your price range. A lot more people are travelling these days and there are many tourists arriving every day so (good value for money) hotels sell out kinda quickly in advance especially on weekends.
I’m staying at the Four points Seoul station next month, anyone know if it is comparable?
I’m going to Seoul in a few months and was considering FP but their room size was half of other places! It was 248 sq ft! Can you confirm this?
That sounds about right - think Tokyo kind of room size. I’d only choose that hotel if you want to be walking distance to Seoul station by covered/underground route - important for rainy season or when it’s crazy hot.
Depending on your schedule I’d recommend staying the night before you fly out of Incheon at Nest hotel. Very different and fun design with coach to the airport although no free breakfast for elites.
Very similar.
Welcome to Korea! I am from there and travel across Asia. Platinum members are treated way better in this part of the world. China and Indonesia made me feel like a queen 👑
I always laugh at the posts here complaining how shit Marriott is in the states. Im traveling internationally 95% of the time and am always treated like a king. The breakfasts in China are even better and more expansive. I stayed at the Westin in Chongqing a few weeks ago and the breakfast buffet was probably 10x the size of this complete with 2 fresh made to order noodle stations
100% this. I do a fair amount of US travel but that just supports the points accumulation for the trips to Asia and Europe.
Hospitality in Asia, even without status, is leaps and bounds better than the US with top status. Go to Asia as a platinum or titanium and be prepared to be amazed.
One of the best breakfasts I've ever had was at the Four Points by Sheraton Penang back in 2017, about a year before what became Bonvoy was launched and not longer after Marriott platinum (now titanium) and Starwood platinum were made equivalent with reciprocal benefits. The property subsequently left Marriott after the acquisition of Starwood was complete.
Just stayed at a non-US four points and can confirm, the “select” range is actually great outside the US
