TL;DR
Circular Ring
The Circular Ring is frequently mentioned as a promising alternative to the Oura Ring. It offers similar features, such as health monitoring without the monthly subscription fee, making it an attractive option for those who wish to avoid ongoing costs [1:1]. The ring is expected to be cheaper than the Oura Gen 3, and users are hopeful it will deliver on its promises.
Ultrahuman Ring Air
Another popular alternative is the Ultrahuman Ring Air, which also does not require a subscription. Users have reported that it provides more data than the Oura Ring, including caffeine window suggestions and circadian rhythm tracking [3:1]. However, some users have noted issues with accuracy and app bugs
[4:4].
Fitbit Sense and Garmin Venu
For those considering alternatives outside of rings, the Fitbit Sense and Garmin Venu are recommended options. The Fitbit Sense offers ECG, smart alarms, voice reply, and Google Assistant, providing a comprehensive set of features similar to the Oura Ring [1:2]. The Garmin Venu is praised for its accurate sleep tracking and cycle tracking, although it may be less thorough than some rings
[3:7].
Subscription Concerns
A common concern among users is the subscription model of the Oura Ring. Many feel that the subscription detracts from the overall value of the device [5:1]. If avoiding subscriptions is a priority, exploring alternatives like the Circular Ring or Ultrahuman Ring Air might be beneficial.
Additional Considerations
When choosing a smart ring, consider what features are most important to you, such as sleep tracking, activity monitoring, or integration with other apps like Apple Health [5:1]. Additionally, comfort, battery life, and durability are key factors to evaluate when selecting the best wearable for your needs
[4:2].
I am tempted to get the Gen 3 ring. The reviews about customer service make me look for alternatives. I want something that monitors blood oxygen, heart rate, body temperature. There is a new ring at Walmart for $299 calledCircul+
Fitbit Versa 1,2 or 3 or Fitbit Sense.
I have Fitbit Sense. Same metrics as Oura. More or less - same accuracy. Sure, my Fitbit Sense have ECG, Smart Alarm (very good), Voice Reply, Google Assistant and more.
But, the Oura has the form factor... I think they compliment each other.
I have the original Circul and it is not as good as Oura. The app can’t even detect when you automatically fall asleep and it’s horrible. Didn’t know there’s a new ring from them, but I’d watch as many YouTube videos and shift between the laid promotions.
Wait a few weeks for the Circular Ring.
Cheaper than Oura 3, slightly better features and most importantly no monthly subscription. Lets hope they can deliver what they promised. I guess it was one of the reasons v3 was rushed.
Pls :) or is Oura seriously worth it for the subscription?
What features are important to you?

Female health would be a nice metric to have!
Working on it (Oura, Ultrahuman, RingConn) :)

Any suggestions/experience with fitness rings? I’ve been wanting to ditch my Apple Watch, and one of the fitness rings seems like a better option for me currently. I don’t like that oura’s app has a monthly subscription, but I like the data it collects
I have an Oura ring and it’s been really great for monitoring my sleep and my menstrual cycle. It does have an activity tracker that I use daily for tracking walking, dancing, yoga, etc. Some people say it’s not very accurate but it’s seemed pretty good to me. Also I don’t like to wear it while lifting because it hurts my finger.
I was going to say this. Working out with them is really annoying
I don't exercise with jewelry on, so a ring seems impractical for lifting weights. I won't even pay for Apple Music or Spotify, so a monthly subscription made me immediately say no to Oura even though I had leftover FSA money to buy one. My sister has something similar to a garmin and I'm debating buying that one. I'll edit this comment with the name when I get it from her!
i have the garmin venu. i absolutely love it. everything is quite accurate minus maybe the rep/set trackers while weighlifting, it can be a little finnicky with leg movements but the upper body tracking is pretty good. sleep tracker is fantastic, and it tracks my cycle as well (may not be as thorough as the rings, though) i love the battery life, i only have to charge it for about an hour every couple of weeks. i've had mine for about 9 months now and it has been worth every penny. it is quite expensive but i got mine on fb marketplace for less as it was used as a display one in a tech shop.
Hello, 4 month Oura owner with major buyer’s remorse here 👋
As you mentioned the subscription is bullshit but it gets worse from there. It’s really not an activity tracker, which is something I’d be wary of for all rings but I didn’t do enough research so idk.
I think it’s more for someone who is maybe on stage 1 of their fitness/wellbeing journey. It’s primarily a sleep tracker. It is not a sub for Apple Watch in that it doesn’t accurately track steps and it’s pretty useless for tracking any kind of outdoor activity.
I was wearing my Apple Watch for any exercise and then the oura for the rest of the day but at this point the stupidity of the oura has cured me of my addiction to tracking, so that’s a plus I guess? I just put it on at night to track bbt bc I’m trying to get pregnant but other than that if you have literally any awareness of your body I think it’s a waste of money.
Felt good to get that off my chest, thank you 🤣
i have both an apple watch and an oura ring and my oura ring is nowhere near as accurate as my apple watch for actual workouts, but it's still decent for other things (sleep, cycle tracking, stress levels, walking/steps). my biggest problem with it is there is no lifting option, and the calories are pretty off with workouts.
I have a weird ? - I am thinking about getting an Oura but I use a walking pad at work and stick my watch on my ankle to count steps. Could I get away with an Oura on a shoelace during my work day?
i mean maybe it would track your steps but probably not your calorie burn because it won't track your heart rate? i also wear my watch on my ankle for my walking pad and my heart rate comes up as shockingly similar as when it's on my wrist, but if it's not on you at all it'll have no idea!
I just switched from Oura to the UltraHuman + i LOVE it. The ring itself is cheaper than the Oura + there’s no monthly subscription. It has a lot more data than Oura- caffeine window suggestions, circadian rhythm, etc. You should definitely look into it!
Been seeing a lot more buzz lately around smart rings like the Oura and Ultrahuman Ring Air. With people wanting fewer distractions and cutting down on screen time, these low-key wearables are starting to trend. Anyone here made the switch from a smartwatch or thinking about it? How’s the battery life, comfort, and accuracy?
I’ve been using the Oura Ring for a few months now and honestly love it. Super comfortable, I forget it’s even on. Battery lasts about 5-6 days, and the sleep tracking feels way more accurate than my old smartwatch. Feels good not having a screen buzzing on my wrist all day. 😅
Good to hear it's working out. How useful do you find the daily insights or readiness score?
Yeah I switched to an Oura super comfy,no constant buzzing and battery lasts almost a week..Feels way more chill than a smartwatch..
That sounds legit I’ve been thinking about switching too. How’s the tracking been for sleep and activity? Any quirks with the sensors or app?
I didn't bought one, but I’ve heard people say that the Oura Ring is accurate and polished, especially for sleep tracking and that it lasts long but needs a subscription. The Ultrahuman Ring Air is lighter, cheaper, and has no subscription, but some users reported low accuracy and app bugs. Both looks comfy, so it depends on whether you prioritize accuracy or saving on ongoing costs
Appreciate the insight, that’s super helpful. Didn’t know about the subscription trade off. Good to know comfort’s solid on both. Thanks!
i never had a watch i thought they were dumb.
I have an Aura, its life changing, literally.
I almost dropped my Fitbit for Oura but I have too much data with Fitbit and want the 7+ years of history.
I wear both and I like to compare data. Sometimes they are dead on for night time tracking.
If I was forced to pick between the two, I think the Oura ring is less obtrusive and durable.
Hey all! I’m in the market for a smart ring and could really use some advice.
My Apple Watch died, and I’m hoping to replace it with a smart ring (or maybe a smart watch again) — ideally one that can cover the following:
My priorities: • Tracks calories burned throughout the day (especially interested in total daily burn, not just workouts) • Syncs with Apple Health • Ideally works with Lose It! and Peloton (even indirectly through Apple Health is fine) • I don’t want a subscription, but I’m open to it if it’s the only good option • I’m okay logging workouts manually if needed — I don’t need deep stats, just calorie burn accuracy • I really prefer the form factor of a ring over a watch
I’ve been looking at:
🔘 RingConn
🔵 Oura Ring Gen 3
🟢 Ultrahuman Ring Air
Would love to hear from anyone who’s tried more than one of these, or made a similar switch from an Apple Watch.
What would you recommend for someone like me? And how happy are you with your pick 6+ months in?
Thanks in advance! 🙏
Hard to find non-biased advice in a product specific sub.
That said, I have an Ōura ring and wear it daily for years (not the same ring, but the same account and I really do enjoy wearing it). Because I am happy with my purchase, I have not sought options and know nothing about competing rings.
I have an Oura ring, I use Lose It and I have a peloton. Lose it and the Peloton do not connect directly with Oura but it does work via Apple Health so you’ll be able to see all of that within the Oura app. Oura also tracks calories burned throughout the day in addition to active calories. I like the Oura ring however I DO NOT like the subscription… I don’t see the purpose of it. Without the subscription the ring, in my opinion, is junk. Oura ring was a gift and if I had a choice I would have gone with a different brand that didn’t include a subscription. I don’t love the ring because of that and because of how the ring looks over time. I got the silver one and it has a bunch of small scratches from daily wear.
It's only an "alternative" if it can go on my finger. There's a reason I chose not to wear anything on my wrists.
^ this right here. I actively chose oura since it's discreet, tiny form factor and it looks good.
If i wanted a smartwatch or whatever i would've went that route.
hi, i’m looking at potentially getting a smart ring to track workouts, recovery, sleep, and just general wellness. i had an apple watch for 6 years but not a huge fan of the look with my outfits and i don’t like wearing a watch to bed for sleep.
i was looking at getting an ultrahuman ring but have recently seen multiple negative reviews regarding its long term battery life. now i’m looking at either ringconn or oura. i’m not a fan of oura’s subscription but if it’s the best option for me, i can make it work. i’ve seen that some people have said that ringconn doesn’t provide as much data/insights as oura.
which ring would be best for my situation? thank u for reading!!
I would buy the Oura
I did a lot of research which started as definitely not getting an oura out of principle with the whole subscription thing.... Well. My Oura is arriving in the next couple of days so, there's that.
While I appreciate the perspective, u/BroadcastNW, the linked "review" has inaccurate specs and comparison charts, hidden affiliate links (breaks rule #5), as well as recommendations for alternate rings that are on SmartRings' "Do Not Buy" list. It does not serve the community well to do this.
Remove the unapproved hyperlink, and I will let your post stand. Otherwise...
I got a Qalo QRNT. Sent it back within two days.

If you want a ring with an app that keeps guiding you and actively tells you to exercise or do other things then Oura is probably better suited for you.
If you can read the metrics yourself and change your behaviour accordingly then Ringconn will give you better hardware. It’s super convenient to have a portable charging case, makes travelling so much easier. The battery life itself is also nearly double.
I am looking at a smart ring. I’ve had an apple watch for years and I’m kind of over it. I was all set to pull the plug on an Oura gen 3 but the size I want is sold out. I don’t know if I want to pay $500 for the gen 4. I’m looking for health data, sickness predictability and sleep tracking the most. I also want it in gold. What suggestions would you have for these two main features? Thanks!
Im hesitating between ringconn and ultrahuman too. Dont want Oura because of the subscription unless its so much better but apparently its not.
Main issue for me is that I cant get the ringconn size kit from amazon.
Go to buy any of these rings from their respective website. They will ask you if you know your ring size and if you don’t, then they will send you a free ring size kit. Go through that and then just refund the ring if you really don’t want it. I did that with ringconn.
I got the Ultrahuman ring and I absolutely love it. For a matter fact, I bought four of them for my family.
What made you choose UH over ringconn? I like the caffeine and vitamine D data but I heard the rings die super quickly.
Don’t even THINK about getting an Ultrahuman. Clap out after 2 or 3 months. Have to be recharged every 3 days. Not even accurate. When they quit retrieving data, the support email line ghosts you. Need I go on??
Thank you for that information. It’s a lot of money to spend on something with poor customer service
I have heard the UH Air has good customer service. I have purchased the UH Air ring, yet to receive.
If I had a dollar for every time this question is asked weekly in this sub I'd have enough to buy every brand of fitness ring, lol.
I’m just hoping Apple makes a ring
atm ringcoon gen 2
I have the newest oura ring but honestly its getting too big and i dont even feel like the information is that accurate and its kind of bulky and i just feel like theres other options out there so lmk
Check out wuzutech they have a “smart” ring that is surprisingly good. And the price is very reasonable. I have been wearing it and one from QALO with similar readings as far as step and sleep timing for about 2-3 months. 5-7 day battery life at less than $100.
You might want to check out our ring The Ultrahuman Ring AIR. It’s a solid alternative,no subscription, and it gives you detailed, reliable data across sleep, movement, recovery, metabolic health, etc. Plus, it’s a lot more discreet and lightweight, which sounds like something you’d really appreciate.
I really wish Ultrahuman was accurate. I tried 3 different ones and the accuracy to other devices, just isn't there. But the powerplugs are awesome. They aren't much help though if the ring way undercuts sleep and steps. Please make better sensors on next ring, I really want to use Ultrahuman because the app is so good.
RingConn Gen 2 (not Gen 2 Air) is the thinnest and lightest smart ring available right now. Overall it is the most accurate (in my experience) and has the longest battery life.
What size are you with Oura? What finger are you wearing it on?
Isn’t the air thinner and lighter?
No. Air is slightly thicker, and is slightly heavier because the outer shell in the Air is made of titanium-steel alloy instead of pure titanium.
The "Air" nomenclature was intended to indicate the budget option...not lighter and thinner as it would seem to indicate.
I know gen 2 is made of titanium and air is steel. Titanium is lighter
Hello, I'm a very sporty guy, I'm very interested in data regarding sleep and heart rate, Oura seemed like the ideal candidate, but I personally don't like paying for a subscription. Are there great alternatives without a monthly subscription?
Yeah after my research I’ve decided to try RingConn. It’s the same like the UH and cost a lot less. Also I think the heart rate tracking is more accurate than the UH ring.
I'm sporty as well, and even though I've had some software issues in the initial couple of weeks with UH, my research indicated the UH without subscription was a great option. I'm giving the company a last opportunity, but when things work, the ring works quite well and provides interesting insights and tips to improve several aspects of your health that impacts how you do sports as well.
Find out which ones have the features you want. Get the cheapest.
I saw a Ringconn in a shop a few weeks ago and bought it on a whim. It does the job.
The only problem with rings is if you do exercises involving your hands. The ring presses into your fingers when you get metal bars.
Something on your wrist is better in this situation.
Much prefer RingConn over UltraHuman for the UI of the app alone.
I've seen a few screenshots of the two apps and you're right, this is also something not to be underestimated
I have had Oura, RingConn and Ultrahuman and RingConn is the best for me. Best app hands down
Yes the application is another aspect that I have not considered, this will make me think longer before buying
