TodayTix
TodayTix is a popular app for finding Broadway ticket deals, offering digital rush tickets and lotteries for certain shows. While it might not always provide the cheapest options unless there's a promotion, it's useful for checking what's playing on and off-Broadway [1:1]
[1:3]. Users have found success with rush tickets and lotteries through TodayTix, making it a go-to app for last-minute deals
[1:5].
TKTS
The TKTS app and booth are excellent resources for same-day discounted tickets. The app provides real-time availability when booths are open, or recent availability otherwise [4:1]. Visiting the TKTS booth at Lincoln Center is recommended for snagging tickets on the day of the show
[2:3].
Theatr
The Theatr app is another option for finding Broadway ticket deals. It allows users to buy tickets at face value plus fees, ensuring no profit is made by sellers [3:1]. The app has been praised for its peer-to-peer model, which eliminates additional fees
[3:8].
TickPick
TickPick is noted for its no-fee policy, making it a reliable choice for purchasing Broadway tickets without hidden costs [4:2]. It's primarily used for resale tickets but is appreciated for its straightforward pricing
[1:6].
Other Notable Mentions
These apps provide various ways to find deals on Broadway tickets, whether you're looking for last-minute options or planning ahead. Each app has its unique features, so exploring multiple platforms may yield the best results for your specific needs.
For lotteries, cheap tickets, rush, news, etc. Thanks!
TodayTix is the only app I use. Websites I use also is BroadwayDirect, Telecharge, LuckySeat, and Broadway Roulette which I haven’t used in a longtime lol
TodayTix has digital rush tickets and lotteries for certain shows. You can buy almost anything there, but it’s not necessarily cheaper unless they’re running some kind of promotion.
It’s good to scroll through every once in a while to see what’s playing on and off-Broadway as well as some other activities in the city.
I managed to snag some Sweeney tix for cheap on there. The only problem with them is seats you just pick for a section, and they decide. Got around that with Sweeney by looking at availability from the official site, and deciding that any of those seats would be perfect.
But that's the only time I've bought regular seats. I use it all the time for rush though, and lotto.
This is the pro move for TodayTix. You can usually guess which seats they’re selling by looking at the official box office site and pricing.
I also like TodayTix for the function of looking up what’s playing on a certain date. As in, I know when I’m going to be there and have another show spot to fill- what could I see?
Outside of what's been mentioned (Mezz for keeping track, todaytix for rush), I've used TickPick. It's for resale, but no fees-got my final Beetlejuice tix on there for the same base price as ticketmaster, without any of the extra fees.
I haven’t heard of this one; do they have an anti-fraud guarantee like StubHub? I’ve been watching the Theatr app but I’m wary of getting scammed.
I use Tickpick for baseball not Broadway but they generally have good anti fraud policies and I have never been scammed or had a problem.
I've used them for Broadway and concerts, so far no scams. I almost lost my Beetlejuice tickets, I think. They contacted me saying there was an issue, like maybe the seller thought they could get a higher price and wanted to back out? But I was driving and didn't respond, and tickpick said never mind, the sale in still good. So I don't know what that was about.
In addition to the others mentioned, I also use Mezzanine (ios) to keep track of shows I’ve seen and see other people’s ratings. It’s great!
Seconded. I love this app.
I find it easier to enter the Broadway Direct / Telecharge lottos on my desktop.
Best way to snag some Broadway tickets for tonight? I’m open to a lot of shows
Gametime app. Shows, concerts, sports. You can filter by “all in price” to display the cost after fees and tax. It’s always the cheapest option, been using it for years
TKTS booth Lincoln Center https://www.tdf.org/discount-ticket-programs/tkts-by-tdf/tkts-live/?tab=LincolnCenter
Download the Theatr app.
Look on r/broadway. They know all the best apps and sites.
they need to come to android!
seems like it has
amazing! that must be a recent development.
How do u verify tickets are real ?
The seller uploads screenshots of their purchase within the app or a picture of the physical ticket, also within the app. They’re only supposed to sell it for face value + fees at the most and not at a profit, so I wouldn’t recommend buying from anyone who doesn’t provide the full screenshot of their original purchase price + fees and the date and time of the show they’re selling for.
edit: Okay, I was correct for the most part but I fixed a bunch of grammatical errors and clarified stuff. I guess my brain is tired today.
d buying from anyone who doesn’t provide the full screenshot of their original purchase price + fees and the date and time of the show they’re selling for.
Thank you
Shhh don’t tell any more people or I’ll never get a ticket!
Seriously…
The app is actually really bad. No need to look into it further.
It’s a good platform I’ve sold there several times and swapped dates with another user. Best of all bc it’s peer to peer, no fees!
shhhhhhhhhhh!
I’m hoping to catch a matinee show on Wednesday and was wondering if anyone has tips for getting same-day tickets—ideally at a good price. Is it best to go directly to the box office, or are there apps/sites you recommend that work well for last-minute purchases? Thank you
Honestly, the best way often depends on the show, but for last-minute, I've found going directly to the box office can sometimes work for good prices if you're lucky. For apps/sites, I've been exploring this through a product we're building, TickPick, which is a no-fee ticket site that aims to help with these exact situations. It might be worth checking out for any available same-day options too!
Go to the TKTS booth.
the theatr app is great!
I go straight to the box office. Hasn’t failed me yet.
Lottery and rush are good options, although lottery or digital rush can be hard to win, and in-person rush requires you to get there pretty early, depending on what show it is. TKTS can be a good option too, and going to the box office is always a good idea.
My personal routine - if I don’t win lottery or digital rush, I first go to the box office to see if they have any deals. If not, then I head to TKTS. The TKTS app shows real time availability when the booths are open, or recent availability if they’re not.
The Wednesday matinee is actually pretty popular, because shows only have one weekday matinee. Plenty of people don’t like weekend crowds or being out late, so the one weekday matinee tends to be more popular than weeknight shows.
I'm assuming it's better to buy in advance but I am seeing a lot of websites and I don't know which is trustworthy to buy from.
TDF.org offers some good deals on less popular shows. $40 annual membership fee but the tickets come out to $30-$50. You don't get to pick the seats, but I got some pretty nice ones for Beetlejuice a while back. Looking now, I see offers for Be More Chill, Beautiful, The Cher Show, King Kong, and Tootsie.
Thanks I will check that out. I'm only planning to see one due to time constraints so I'm not sure if it will end up cheaper but it's good info to know!
Then I'd go to one of the TKTS booths run by TDF the day of the show to get a ticket: https://www.tdf.org/nyc/7/TKTS
There's also an app, but because I'm a TDF member and can purchase in advance, I never use it.
Avoid Broadway.com. If you search the name here you'll see a ton of explanations as to why not, but they're a glorified ticket reseller and their fees are astronomical. Check playbill.com or Broadway box for codes to use on the legit ticket sites like Telecharge or ticketmaster, also look into Today Tix.
Thanks! The discount code on playbill doesn't specify how much discount they're giving, just the price range. Do you know how it works? It seems I will be saving more if I chose the more expensive one?
Straight from the shows official site or Broadway Roulette if I don’t have a set agenda
Since I live in NYC I try to go to the box office in person whenever possible and avoid some of the extra fees.
Otherwise I would advise most strongly for using the official ticketing system. Except for a few exceptions (like TDF) the insane fees on the reseller websites like Broadway.com are, well, insane.
Todaytix sometimes for tickets not too far in advance, or else yeah entering lotteries or the show’s official website. Tkts a few times when the show I specifically wanted to see was popping up there
The show’s website / official box office.
Go through the show’s official site and whatever ticketing service they link to (Telecharge, SeatGeek, or Ticketmaster). Avoid sites like Broadway.com.
Someone posted this idea, so I can’t take credit, but I wanted to see if it worked and I was amazed! Basically you just wait until right before the show you want to see is going to start (I started about 15 mins before curtain) and look for last minute tickets on a resale app like StubHub or SeatGeek. I found stubhub was better.
This doesn’t work if you have your heart set on something specific, but I was amazed at the deal you can get otherwise! I’ve seen Wicked a few times but am always up for seeing it again, so I watched tix today for the 2PM show to see how great the deals might be, here’s what I found:
About 15 mins before the show started there were 2 front row mezzanine seats together for $65 each! Already an amazing deal and enough time to get in if you’re outside the theater already. These tickets go for over $200 each normally.
5 mins before the show, the same tix dropped to $50 each!
Then right at show start they dropped to $40 each (see image) INSANE! of course you may miss the opening but if you’re seeing a show for the second time, I think that’s worth a trade off.
Anyway fun experiment so thought I’d share. Will definitely be using this trick in the future when behave flexibility!
Useful warning: for resale tickets, StubHub & SeatGeek only accept credit cards from US & Canada.
I’m from Europe and tried this the last time I was in NYC, but it kept failing, and then I saw this in the FAQ :(
I did this in 2018 with Hadestown - sat outside the theater and waited and watched prices. Bought my ticket just before showtime (and thankfully received the ticket in time).
At the time The Prom was playing across the street and started half an hour later for whatever reason, so if I hadn't gotten my Hadestown ticket I was just going to go grab a Prom ticket at the box office.
Yup this is how I was able to get Center Orchestra tickets to Sweeney Todd for $65 a few weeks ago.
I know that unexpected things happen in life, but boy, to have Center Orchestra Sweeney tickets and have to give them up.
Sometimes the processing fee is high at $40-$60 each, altogether still good for super popular shows though
totally— should have mentioned I picked to “included estimated fees” (under filters in stubhub) on the price for this exact reason, so these prices already include fees! crazy!
good to hear! crazy indeed!
I have had this work, but I have also had it fail dramatically (when the seller didn't transfer me the ticket before the show started). Stubhub was great and provided me a full refund, but it definitely adds a little ✨excitement✨ to the process.
yeah def a good point. i guess to be safe you should buy with enough time to make sure owner sees it and does the transfer, unless that happens automatically? I assumed bc the price kept dropping that the owner was active but maybe that’s also automated. not sure but good point!
I wanna get some good promo codes to go see some Broadway shows and I was wondering if there was any good ones available but still work
BRIANDANIELS
Can confirm this worked for me today, thanks!
Done
Cool
Try SGT10 (up to $25 off) and EZBUCKETZ ($20 off $50+)
Thanks in advance for the tips! A friend and I are headed to NYC for the first time in mid-September and I was wondering where and when is the best place to buy tickets?
Should we buy tickets in advance before we go (ie now)? Or should we get tickets the day of at something like TKTS?
We don’t have too much money to spend but we’d love to see 1-2 shows while we’re there. Any tips or tricks or suggestions is greatly appreciated!!
Broadwayforbrokepeople.com has most of the details on lottery and rush tickets. Broadwaybox.com has coupon codes that work for select shows. I also would only buy through the preferred ticketing vendors (telecharge, ticketmaster and seatgeek). Tkts is great for same day tickets and if you google tktslive you can see what's for sale and see if there is a trend going on. Enjoy your trip!
Awesome! Thanks!! I’ll check out that site!
If you want to buy tickets for full price in advance, use the seller officially affiliated with the production, which can be found on the show’s website or linked on Playbill’s show directory. Do not buy from Broadway.com.
If you want discounted tickets, you can try the TKTS booth in Time Square, which is day of, or the TodayTix app, which can be bought ahead of time.
I’d love to save some money if we can. But with TKTS you’re not guaranteed to see the show. I guess that’s whats tripping me up and I can’t decide.
Do you have to line up early to get tickets from TKTS?
Do you have specific shows you want to see? TKTS is great if you’re flexible, but you’re right that not every show is available via TKTS. You can download their app to get a sense of what’s available each day, though it’s always subject to change.
Thank you for the advice!! :)
Shows with lottery and rush programs can be your best friend. Even for a sometimes not perfect seat, being able to get a ticket for $50 or less will make up for it.
If you want to see a show that doesn’t have rush or lottery, TKTS is a great option, along with going to the shows box office on the day of the show. I recently paid $79 for a day of ticket to a show that would’ve been $399 if I bought it a few days prior. As long as you’re seeing a show that doesn’t sell out in advance, you’ll have a lot of options to get a good seat for a good price. Good luck!
Thanks! Great tip!!
todaytix is pretty cheap if you want a guaranteed show
& if you do tkts you will definitely be able to see SOMETHING. if you have your heart set on a show i would personally buy one on tkts + then use tkts. you can also try & play the lottery the day before & if you dont win no harm done
Thank you!
Depends on what you want to see and how flexible you are
Hey guys - heading to NYC in April and wondering what you guys have found are the best sites to get cheapest tickets? Thanks!!
My go to site is Ticketron. They have been in NYC since 1989 and their prices always seem to be less than others. They always seem to have the cheapest Broadway tickets in NYC.
If you feel like taking chances I've had great luck with the TKTS booth right in Times Square. They do day of performances only but you can find some great deals!

Other than that I've never tried TodayTix or other services like that, but I have seen people in the vests outside before the theater.
Todaytix
TodayTix is my go-to, but you can find good deals across several sites, including BrodwayBox, ShowScore, and others.
If you're interested in looking at rush, standing room, or lotteries, check out https://www.broadwayforbrokepeople.com/, which should have cheap ticket info about most shows that are running.
Playbill has a roundup of these types of tickets here as well: http://www.playbill.com/article/broadway-rush-lottery-and-standing-room-only-policies-com-116003
Has anyone tried standing room before? Just curious how it is.
I’ve done standing room for dear Evan Hansen, hello dolly and Hamilton. I’m short, and each experience has been fine. Def worth savings for me.
All the time and it totally depends on the theater. I can say the most comfortable SRO experience I've had was at the Bernard B Jacobs and I've done it twice. The Shubert is pretty great as well. The Broadhurst has a comfortable railing, but it's pretty tall. If you're under 5'7, you may need to stand on a box (which they provide if you ask). The Music Box and The Belasco are the two least comfortable I've done, but still decent. I've also always had a phenomenal view from SRO since you're a full head above all of the sitting patrons in front of you.
Thank you!
