TL;DR
Commercial Cleaners
Several commercial cleaning products are highly recommended across discussions. Scrubbing Bubbles is frequently mentioned for its effectiveness in tackling general bathroom grime [3]. Mrs. Meyers products, particularly the lavender scent, are favored for their pleasant aroma and effective cleaning power
[2:4]
[2:5]. Lysol Power Bathroom Foamer is praised for removing soap scum without scrubbing
[2:2]. Kaboom is another popular choice for dealing with soap scum on shower tiles
[5:1].
DIY Solutions
For those interested in simpler solutions, Dawn dish soap mixed with water is a versatile cleaner that can be used on glass shower doors and tiles [4:3]. White vinegar is recommended for its ability to clean various surfaces effectively
[4:8]. Sugar soap is also noted for its comprehensive cleaning capabilities
[4:2].
Specialized Products
Some users prefer specialized products like Jif or Gumption for tough stains on sinks, baths, and shower tiles [4:1]
[4:4]. Bar Keepers Friend is mentioned as an excellent option for tough cleaning tasks
[2:5]. Additionally, Lysol with hydrogen peroxide offers a fresher scent compared to traditional bleach cleaners
[2:8].
General Advice
When choosing bathroom cleaners, consider your specific needs such as scent preference, cleaning power, and whether you prefer natural or chemical-based products. Many users recommend keeping a variety of products on hand for different tasks, from all-purpose sprays to specialized cleaners for stubborn stains. It's also important to ensure proper ventilation when using strong chemicals like bleach [4:10].
Wondering what brand/which products you guys like the best for bathroom cleaning (tub, toilet, sink, etc.)? I recently saw the The Pink Stuff on TikTok which I thought looked promising, though I'm not sure that's bathroom product.
Any feedback is appreciated! We just moved and our house hasn't really been cleaned since and it's driving me insane.
I use the Mrs. Meyers lavender shower cleaner for the shower, for the toilets I use the scrubbing bubbles toilet cleaner, the sink I use an all purpose cleaner, and for the floor I use a swiffer.
For inside the toilet I just stick with any brand of the blue gel toilet cleaner in the squeezy bottle. For the outside it's just my all purpose spray (just a little dawn diluted with water for me) and paper towels.
For sinks/counters I just use my all purpose spray. Maybe grab a cleaning only toothbrush if the sink drain needs a little scrubbing.
I'm not too picky on the spray I use for the shower. I just grabbed a general bathroom cleaning spray with a non scratch sponge and since the shower isn't usually too dirty it was fine, but it was... strong. I may switch to powdered comet in the future, but I don't know how harsh it is (kinda don't want to keep rinsing a bunch of chemicals down the drain if it's not necessary, but I do forgo that for the toilet bowl cleaner).
If these things get cleaned often enough, they don't typically need a lot of product (just a note for the future, I know right now you may need more).
Thank you! I use all purpose cleaner for a lot and I wasn't sure if I needed anything special. What type of all purpose cleaner do you use?
I am really curious about that Pink Stuff and whether it could be useful in the bathroom... I'll have to do some research on that one.
So my AP cleaner is just about a tsp of dish soap mixed with 2 cups of water. I guess for some using dish soap isn't their favorite thing, so I didn't suggest it.
I saw a video comparing the pink stuff vs power paste on an oven door and I think the power paste edged out the pink stuff. I'll try to find it.

Hi fellow cleaning enthusiasts. I'm not sure if you're like me, but I tend to find it oddly enjoyable to ponder which specific products works best for me to tackle the bathroom and which ones I keep handy in the Kitchen. Do you tend to use the same products for both or do you switch it up?
I personally like Microban, Comet, or Clorox all purpose sprays in the bathroom and I like Fanstastik, Spic n Span, or Lysol wipes in the kitchen. And of course bleach whenever and wherever it's needed.
Love to hear your thoughts.
My new fave product is Wet and Forget Shower Cleaner! I spray once a week, let it sit over night and rinse the next day. My least favorite job of scrubbing the 3 showers in my house is now gone!
My favorite is Power Bathroom Foamer from Lysol, someone recommended it on a twitt. I sprayed half a soap scummed glass shower door and left it for 10 minutes then hosed it off. The scum was gone with no scrubbing. Impressive. I’m sure if I used a light scotch type pad it would have been perfect. I found it from this tweet.
Thank you for sharing this! I started using foam cleaners for the shower walls and it's made it more enjoyable for me lol. But I'm gonna look this up.
I hear you...Kaboom is my fave when it has residue build-up and needs a scrub. But this spray is really helping prevent the build-up in the first place!!!
Mrs Meyers clean day! Lavender scent. I also love bar keepers friend for tough stuff. Happy cleaning! 😊
This is mine too! I love the Mrs Meyers line so much. Plus, the way my rooms smell after using this makes my day, lol. I honestly think their dish soap is better than anything I've ever used
I switched from the standard toilet bowl cleaners to Lysol with hydrogen peroxide. Cleans comparable to bleach cleaners but has a fresher scent.
This is interesting. I've seen Lysol hydrogen peroxide cleaner in store but never used it before. I may give it a try. Thank you for the suggestion.
They also make a bathroom cleaner that’s amazing for hard water in the shower!!
My go to cleaning option for both kitchen and the bathrooms is Ivory dish soap, water, and a designated microfiber cloth. I also have three containers of Bon Ami- one for the kitchen and each of the two bathrooms. I do not use stainless steel cleaners for my appliances. Bon Ami works for me. I do not use window cleaner sprays. For interior glass I have Kaywos cleaning cloths that clean glass and mirrors with just water. For my windows, a tiny bit or Ivory dish and my window washing tools: window mop and squeegee.
I use a Formula 409 product safe for my quartz countertops in the event I worked with raw proteins. I wash the counter with soap and water with a paper towel. Dry with a second paper towel. Then spray with the 409 and leave it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then rinse and dry. For the sink and kitchen tools I use Chlorox Cleanup after working with raw proteins. Again, it has to sit to be effective.
For the bathroom the only harsh chemical I use is the Lysol toilet bowl cleaner.
I have Lysol spray for the kitchen trash can and to spray the lidded waste basket that holds the used kitty litter if odor is an issue. And surprisingly, that does not happen often.
Housekeeper and here's what's in my toolkit:
I always love to know what’s in professional’s cleaning supply inventory! Saving your comment 😍
I’m looking for your recommendations on your go to cleaner for the bathroom. Both of my bathrooms have ceramic tile flooring. One shower is ceramic Tile and the other is a built in wall/tub. I want my bathroom sparkling and to smell good and clean. Right now I use scrubbing bubbles but I feel like there is prob a better option.
The expectation that a bathroom or house in general that's being actively used will be spotless is a fever dream.
I’m not asking or assuming it to be spotless. I have two young sons potty training. As stated in my post, I am simply asking for cleaning product recommendations. Not a magic wand.
The exact text of the post is " I want my bathroom sparkling"
Don't care how toxic etc - I'll sanitise afterwards if I have to...
What products do you guys use?
Sinks, toilets, shower.
Make my life easier - I just want to spray something on, scrub it off, then not worry about it for a week.
I used Koh a while ago and it was okay, but is there something better?
Not interested in making my own etc...
TIA
Sugar soap. It'll clean everything you could ever wish to clean.
Totally! I keep a bottle of Dawn and a scrubby cloth in the shower. Makes the glass door and tile shine like a clean dish!
Saw someone cleaning their glass shower door with Jif… tried it… amazing!
Absolutely best thing to use on a toilet bowl. It’s septic safe too.
I really think white vinegar is the best. I use it everywhere.
It's brilliant, however you can't use on natural stone, granite, marble or anything made of wood as it will damage.
I'm a bleach gal. I know it's not the best in a lot of ways, but it works! Just make sure you have a door / window open to air it out while using and while it's drying. Oh, and rinse it off surfaces, too - I just go over it at the end with a clean cloth and the hottest water my hands can deal with.
Yeah, spray bleach is so easy, starts melting away the dirt and/or mould instantly in bathrooms. I use it for exactly the reasons OP asked for. It does such a good job, some things only need bleaching quarterly and are restored to sparking white again. Elsewhere I use dishwashing liquid or rubbing alcohol.
I read this tip about eight months ago and it has changed my life. It's better than any window cleaner for glass and mirrors
This what I do I get a big bottle when it's on special and always have an empty to dilute it and use one for dishes the other everything else.
I can't remember the last time my spray and wipe bottle actually contained spray and wipe!!
Yep, Jif or Gumption. I use it to clean the vanity sink, bath, shower tiles and glass. Great for kitchen sink too.

For shower tile, I love Kaboom for soap scum. Just spray, wait a few minutes and wipe.
Hi y’all! I’m just wondering what general purpose bathroom cleaner you use and like? I use scrubbing bubbles and I don’t think it works that well. I use Zep for grout, but need recs for what you use on sinks/counters etc. Thanks!
Rubbing alcohol and a few drops of dawn in a spray bottle for mostly everything.
I like Clorox pick up which Costco sells in the handy gallon and a half size.
I actually like scrubbing bubbles. But the trick is to leave it on wet for at least two hours. You can do this by applying it very very heavily, or some people lay plastic wrap on top of it to keep it from drying out.
My best results always happen when I can leave the cleanser overnight (while keeping it wet – saran wrap). It doesn’t matter what the cleanser is, it’s the very long soak time that does the work.
Does anyone know of a natural product that's just as effective as Kaboom to clean a shower and tub? Something without harmful chemicals that really gets the scum off, disinfects and leaves it good as new? Okay with DIY too but prefer not to deal with some obnoxious recipe that involves "sprinkling a half cup of baking soda". There's something about using baking soda to clean that makes me feel excited for my death when it finally happens
Also I've been through the whole anti-crunchy "everything is a chemical, it's the dose not the poison" thing about traditional household cleaners being safe to use, but I've changed my mind, I want natural
I use attitude brand tub and tile cleaner. It works well by wetting the walls first, spray the cleaner, use your favorite rag or power scrubber and rinse clean.
I’m going to sound like a spokesperson but Grove’s Tub and Tile concentrate is so good. You can get it at Target or delivered via the app.
I say to pick a natural dish soap you like and give that a try. Dish soap works wonders for my tub surround. I hope you find something you like that works for you. :)
A friend went all natural, non-chemical with her bathroom and kitchen cleaning and the mold took over like crazy. She was buying some very expensive high-end cleaners. Ultimately went back to ammonia, Commet and Clorox in order to start having a clean bathroom and kitchen again
Sounds very un-sexy, thank you for the story. I will take this into consideration, we sometimes have a very small amount of pink mold
My holy grail is dawn dish soap. It’s so effective at cleaning! I just put a couple pumps into a spray bottle and fill it with water. For the tub I spray all over, let it sit for 15min, then scrub/rinse. I’ve heard a little bit of vinegar mixed in along with the water/dawn mixture is good too but I have natural stone in the shower portion so I forego the vinegar. If you don’t have any stone in the shower/tub I’d recommend adding vinegar :)
Yes but Dawn is not a natural cleaner. Many of the ingredients actually state on their MSDS’s to not wash down the sink.
Yep. Dawn and vinegar ftw!
Anyone know if this product is still available at a decent price? Tried all sorts of products over the years and this one is the best by far but can’t seem to find it in stores any longer. Tried the new comet ultra bathroom spray and it doesn’t hold a candle to this one. Thanks
The non-ultra is a 6% citric acid solution, and agree it is very good for hard water on glass shower doors. In my area it appears to have been discontinued and restocked with the reformulated ultra version.
Someone else who enjoys cleaning the bathroom. Uh. And a towel maybe?
I used to use bleach to clean pretty much everything. Since my son was born, I hate bleachy smells because I worry they will hurt his breathing, so I got a steam mop and handheld steam cleaner and think both are brilliant.
Paper towel, lysol black, spray away glass cleaner, lysol lemon, sponge
A plunger, even if you don't think you need one you are going to need one. Don't be cheap - buy a good one, much less expensive than calling a plumber. Even more important if you only have one bathroom.
And even worse if you have someone over who you’re intimate with
Comet and windex. I've never needed more
Absolutely
One product for the fixtures, sink, toilet, tub, and floor.
I love KOH I use it for everything. And my Enjo cloths.
> Enjo cloths
I had to look this up; I know more than I did before! Sounds interesting. What's been your experience with the cloths?
They're a microfibre cloths, there's a few different types. I've had my bathroom one for over 10years now and it's as good as new. Teamed with the bamboo clothes for drying they're amazing. I'm not sure if KOH is only available in Australia but it's an amazing cleaner, everything from oven to car.
Wouldn't KOH melt microfiber?
Nope it hasn't made any difference to it.
Vinegar
Seconded, and it means that ya gotta keep after the cleaning on a nearly daily basis to keep up with everything and not have any buildup of stuff. But so good on so many things, and somewhat sanitizing to boot!
Spray bottle with water and a bit of dish soap in it. It’s the only thing that would be safe on all my surfaces. Countertops are natural stone, so vinegar will ruin it.
This!
I use Isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle.
Zoflora as it's a disinfectant and smells great, I use it with normal bathroom cleaner spray bottle.
