Vault X Binders
Vault X binders are highly recommended across multiple discussions. They are praised for their sturdy construction, side-loading pages, and zip closures which help protect cards from dust and damage [3:1],
[3:2],
[5:1]. Users have mentioned replacing all their binders with Vault X due to their superior quality
[3:3]. The binders come in various colors and styles, including themed versions for specific Pokémon sets, making them a favorite among collectors who want both functionality and aesthetic appeal
[3:6].
Ultra Pro Binders
Ultra Pro is another popular choice for Pokémon card binders. Their Elite binders feature 9-pocket side-loading pages and zippers for added security [5:2]. Ultra Pro also offers penny sleeves that are commonly used in conjunction with binders to provide additional protection for individual cards
[4:1].
Dragon Shield and Ultimate Guard
While not as frequently mentioned as Vault X or Ultra Pro, Dragon Shield and Ultimate Guard are also noted for their high-quality products. Dragon Shield is particularly well-regarded for its card sleeves, which many collectors use to double-sleeve their cards before placing them in binders [3:1],
[5:10].
Palms Off Gaming and Rayvol
Palms Off Gaming binders were also suggested, though they were less frequently mentioned compared to the other brands [5:9]. For those interested in storing cards in top loaders, Rayvol binders on Amazon are recommended for their solid construction and color options
[5:1].
Considerations for Choosing a Binder
When selecting a binder, consider whether you prefer fixed pages or a ring binder that allows for page expansion. Fixed-page binders like those from Vault X are often preferred for their ability to keep cards secure without the risk of dents that can occur with ring binders [5:7]. Additionally, side-loading pages and zip closures are features that enhance protection against dust and physical damage

I got a thing for frog Pokemon.. was wondering what’s the best frog Pokemon card..? I have quite a few but I need the Greninja EX and Shiny Greninja full art..
It's been pumped to oblivion and a toad. But I love my Seismitoad.
Yup really need that!
I never noticed the frog! Very cool. I think early in the franchise they thought of pokemon as kind of separate from animals, or special animals anyway
Yeah in the beginning I remember thinking of pokemon in addition to animals and later on I feel like they made it more of a world full of Pokemon instead of animals
I'll admit as a kid. I liked it the first way, they made it almost believable that we might find them in our own world.
I’ve always liked the Politoed holo from Neo Discovery, great colors on it.
It's a great one. I have one in my collection, always wondered why it wasn't worth more.
Yup I have the regular one just need the holo! Great card
One of my favourite cards, really beautiful design.
I wish we could go back to the time when there were animals living alongside Pokemon. Made them feel more like they were part of our world rather than a separate world.
Completely missed the frog and was like “lol brother oddish isn’t a frog”
Hello! I'm planning to put a section in my binder wherein one page is full of pokemon that takes up less than 10% of the card art and the other page are pokemon that take up at least 90% of the card art. Here are some that i thought of
Can you guys give me more? 🙏
This one doesn't even have a pokemon in it.
LOL I love how nonchalant Sudowoodo is on this one. I just bought it for my PC 😂
The centerpiece to my collection! 😁
So fucking hyped that my love finally gets an IR
This is such a cool concept for organizing! The contrast would look amazing in a binder
For tiny Pokemon, definitely check out some of the older landscape cards where they're just little dots in massive environments. And for the 90%+ crew, those close-up face shots from recent sets are perfect - some of them are so zoomed in you can barely tell what Pokemon it is lol
Starting as a new collector, discovering the different accessories like binders, sleeves, and deciding which to use can be intimidating at first. Questions arise like do I actually need this? Is it worth its cost? Are there more accessories I need? Now with so many brands and accessories available I wanted to make a post to try and spotlight some of the best choices. So this is our in-depth guide to the best sleeves and binders for Pokemon cards and more accessories to consider!
A binder should have a hard outer layer for protection, card pages should lay flat and not arch, with sideloading pockets for better protection, made PVC and acid free, and without a metal ring. There's one binder which really hits every mark here. My personal favorite after much trial and error with other binders, the Dragon Shield Codex used with Dragon Shield matte sleeves. The pocket fit becomes perfect when used in unison, the binder strap was tested and found to not affect cards from prolonged use, and the pages lay perfectly flat.
We considered many major brands too. Ultra Pro binders outer layer is just not hard enough, Dex is but its card pages arch and fully don't lay flat. Ultimate Guard strap applies just little too much pressure causing binder edges to fold inward and its pages can slightly arch but still good choice. Regardless which brand you decide, I'd recommend to avoid putting your best binder cards in the first 1-2 pages as this will help with their overall long-term protection.
The best sleeve for Pokemon cards hands down are Ultra Pro penny sleeves, at least that's if you have an expensive chase card you want to store to grade someday. For playing or for a binder, not so much. When it comes to playing, you'll want to double sleeve your cards using what many consider to be the best perfect fit brand, KMC perfect fits, and then into a Dragon Shield matte sleeve, which are the best at resisting sweat from your hands while playing and considered some of the best sleeves available. No need to worry about your deck getting difficult to shuffle or card sticking as they're quality long lasting sleeves.
When it comes to your binder you do not need to double sleeve. One matte sleeve is sufficient, but I'd recommend inserting two cards in first to stretch the sleeve out, if it's a card you care about. If you accidently knack a corner upon insertion, the pressure pushing down can cause the whitening to further grow, so stretching the sleeve out first prevents this from happening imo, but it's not necessary and just an overly cautious step for the non-gradeable chase cards going into a binder. Anything high end that's gradeable, should only ever be in an Ultra Pro penny sleeve and Ultra pro top loader, it's the best form of protection for cards you want to eventually grade imo.
There are so many different deck boxes, it's not really possible to say which deck box is the best but some are built much better than others. The Ultra Pro Satin Tower is less than $15 and will last a lifetime, they don't scratch or fall open and even have little more room than 100 cards beating out equal competitors. For bang for buck it's one of the best all-around.
One of the best deck box brands is Ultimate Guard, they excel with their deck boxes which are very well-known such as the durable Boulder deck box and the Flip n'Tray Xenoskin. The Boulder is the most simple but rock hard scratch-resistant balling on a budget choice, but if you want to spend little more the Flip n'Tray is a stylish deck box with extra slot up top for dice and magnetic flaps to hold everything in place. You can actually fit a boulder into the Flip'n'Tray too but it's tight fit.
There's quite a few different brands of top loaders but the big four are Ultra Pro, Beckett, BCW, and Cardboard Gold. Pokemon card stock does not change, so 35 point top loaders it all you need. However, the mouth or opening of 35 point top loaders is not all the same. Beckett is a much tighter squeeze which I do not like for my expensive cards. Cardboard Gold like to pop apart and are flimsy. BCW is very tight as the plastic walls collapse inwards much like Beckett but more durable overall. The best top loaders for Pokemon cards are Ultra Pro top loaders imo, especially when used in unison with Ultra Pro penny sleeves, the fit is perfect and many will agree you can go a lifetime using only these.
You may be left wondering well how do I store my top loaders? The best way to store top loaders imo is in an Ultimate Guard Arkhive Xenoskin 400, it's really stylish and can store almost 200 top loaders, with magnetic flaps and fits perfectly Ultra Pro top loaders. However, if you're wanting a very cheap alternative there's the BCW 5" storage box which is only a few bucks. For those looking to display your top loaders, there is the Ultra Pro photo album but after enough weight it seems the binder pages begin to sag. There are now dedicated binders like the Gem Loader top loader binder which seems to be very much worth its price and wait based off feedback as can be difficult to find in supply.
VaultX binders for sure. The custom ones they do for SWSH & S&V are amazing! Ultra pro penny sleeves. Dragon shield Matt black sleeves.
Do you mean that you double sleeve: penny then dragon shield?
For high value cards, yea. That makes it more or less air tight. For regular cards and reverse holos, etc. just a normal penny sleeve & in the binder.
So I am a bit biased to Vault X for most. Their binders are pretty rigid in the sense that even if you stand them up, you wont really experience card bend. Their semi rigid sleeves are nice and come in a couple sizes.
As for deck boxes, I havent really found one I am all on board with. I try different ones and havent settled on one.
For sleeves (double sleeve deck cards), I do really like dragon shield. Their exact fit is a little bigger than exact, but they are nice. I use their inner sleeves when I put into a top loader or semi rigid sleeve.
I've tried every single brand of binder there is over the years and Vault X beats everything.
So much so that I recently replaced every binder I own with Vault X (98 binders) and have not regretted it for a second.
Yeah, they are pretty legit. They have a preorder out right now for their "challenge" binder (I think that was the name?). 4 spaces each page but under each space, theres another space where you can write on a blank card for like notes or trades or whatever. Its pretty cool. Preordered one for my sister and looking forward to see how it is/
This is some amazing advice. I typically purchase binders at thrift stores (more than 1" ring), then buy Ultra Pro Platinum sheets. For storage, I use old ETB boxes or binders (for good cards/sets I'm collecting), placing the sleeve upside down then into the binder to protect from dust. Works great! I'd say the side pocket binders are probably better bc then you don't have to worry about rusting or dust, but I'd worry about needing to add more pages.
i live and die by vault x
Yep their S&V themed binders have single handedly kept me ripping/ buying singles since I need to finish the sets now
Know anywhere to find them? Seems to be sold out everywhere.

Thank you for this awesome guide! Out of curiosity did you ever find a good binder for storing the top loaders?
Awesome post! Love the detail it’s very helpful! What would you recommend for storing graded cards?
What’s the best sleeve for just collecting?
You can also store your top loaders in top loader folders 😉
I’ve been putting my 151 master set in a binder using clear penny sleeves. The rare+ foils are in the sleeves provided by the ETB. Will this be sufficient? The binder is a 9 slot side loading zip Vaultx.
Just ordered a full booster box, any recommendations for a binder to keep them in?
I have a gem loader for my cards in toploaders. For just cards I really like the ultra pro elite binder. With 9 sideloading pockets per page and it has a zipper. (The red charizard one but there are probably other options)
I was looking at gem loaders, what’s your review on them?
Vault x exo-tec zip binder
The cream of the crop in my opinion. 12-pocket ones are fantastic to look at when they’re full, especially with IRs. My partner has one for SVI and she’s completed the master set for it, and all of the IRs start on the first pocket of the left page, and the whole thing just looks incredible!
Plus great quality binders at a reasonable price, with incredible protection to boot!
Ive been considering vault X because I did like their perfect fit sleeves. My only problem with these zipper binders is they don't hold a lot of cards or offer room for expansion.
I also have this binder and it's excellent quality.
Vault X zip binders for me :)
Another vote for Vault X. Sturdy, solid side loading pages, zips up, colors, easy to buy off Amazon.
You just have to decide if you want a binder that has set pages or something with a ring so you can add more/move pages.
If you go toploader binder, I recommend Rayvol on Amazon. Good price, solid binder, color options.
Ring binders are one of the main reasons why so many vintage cards over the years have dents. Ring binders are great.... but only if it's of very high quality.
Agree with this, they are excellent and good quality
Palms Off Gaming binders 🤙🏽
VaultX/Dragon Shield/Ultimate Guard/Ultra Pro are probably the most used.
Im filling up my current binder now, and its serving me well (side slots, no rings, if youre wondering), but whats the best binder you can use for tcg?
It's great to hear your current binder is working out well! If you're looking for an upgrade, I'd recommend the Vault X Premium Exo-Tec Zip Binder. It offers durable protection, side-loading slots, and a zip closure for added security. It's a fantastic choice for organizing your TCG collection!
I’ve used Vaultx for years and they are my go to from Binders to top loaders and sleeves(penny and exact fit). I’ve used there 9 slot and 12 and both have had stayed in excellent shape. I would stay away from Ring binders entirely and too loaded binders if you are trying to have a real collection. Top loaders are prone to having cards slip out if you drop or carry the binder wrong. But all this is my humble opinion!
I personally have 3 Rayvol (~1,024 card capacity) and 1 Top Deck that was supposed to be 1,000 capacity but turned out more like 990-ish. Both of those brands are side load-style and supposed to support Top Loaders but I personally don't use Top Loaders so I would investigate more. Between the two, I like Rayvol more.
Is there any good binder for cheaper then the vault x right now I'm using a Pokémon one (Evolving sky) and I'm wondering if theres a good one for cheap since I dont know if the binder i have causes damge to my cards?
I currently use Card Guardian and Vaultx. I think Card Guardian is a little bit cheaper. Fabmaker is more cheaper than both. They may be an option.
Hello, what sleeves do you recommend for card guardian album? I’ve had problems with the penny sleeves because they don’t fit the album very well.
Your post has been removed for the following rule violation:

I got this one on Amazon for like $16. It has exactly 80 pages so the entire set fits perfectly. I put the base card behind the iced foil so you can see each parallel
You need 2 full sets so you can display front and back side by side 😉 this is my ideal set up.
I set my binder up a little differently than most. I use a binder with 3 by 3 pages. I put all 80 base cards in order into the first 4.5 pages. It leaves one blank holder at the end of the last page fromt and I leave the back of that page empty. Then I do the same with each parallel. This takes up 25 pages. Then i place my cold foils into half a page, metarares into half a page, redemptions get their own half page. I dont keep any DSHF in the binder and i dont have any bigfoots 😞.
I also loaded all the base cards at the front in backwards so I can see the backs for some light reading 😂.
This binder at Amazon fits it all for $20 and is excellent.
I like that, but I want to be able to see the back of my cards.
What’s everyone’s favorite binder brand or type? In the market looking for something to protect the growing vintage collection.
I like Monster Protectors brand. They're pretty nice.
I recently purchased monster binders and I feel like they are bending my cards. I'm using the 4 pocket binder. Do you have any issues with warping? The cards on the inner side of the page are bending considerably. Im just wondering if maybe I have a defective binder
I use the 9 pocket Monster Protectors ones. Maybe the 4 pocket ones are too small? I don't know, but I have zero issues with the 9 pocket pages binder. I actually put penny sleeves on my cards before putting them in these binders. If someone wanted an alternative, I also use regular 1 inch binders with Ultra Pro Platinum Series pages, and I do not use penny sleeves with it. I keep them stored upright in a cardboard box with the box placed inside a closed plastic tote. Zero issues all around. Hope this helps.
I’ve been happy with vault-x and card guardian, preference either vault-x zippers if you can find those. 4 pocket is fun, as is 9, but if you can find a 12 pocket zipper that would be a good place to live.
Recently started collecting again, and I'm looking for something to store my card- particularly the good ones. I've invested in some 3"x4" hard backed card sleeves that I currently have the cards in, and I was wondering how people display / store these? Any suggestions are great thanks!
I use an Utra Pro ring binder with the Ultra Pro sleeves.
I'm curious too. Are 3x3 sleeves that hold hard card cases a thing? I'd love to keep my cards in a binder in hard slickies if possible
It's a bit pricey with shipping is $75.00 but this is the only option I've seen that I have been considering to show cards in toploaders in a binder.
Yeah this is exactly what I'm looking for. Atm all the hard cases cards are just piled up but I'd much rather display them!
Upvoted for visibility and my own curiosity
If you’re willing to just get a new binder plus sleeves I love my dex binder http://dexprotection.com/shop/binders/dex-binder/498/dex-binder-9/
I put my main cards in that and have a binder with pages for the other less rare stuff that I can add to.
I'm currently using a three-ring binder and heard it can damage cards. I want to upgrade to a better binder but I'm not sure which. I saw GameStop has Ultra Pro binders, are those any good?
What binders do you keep your collection in?
I’ll put a list here for you to check out. They are all the “best” binders on the market. You can find any of them in your LGS or online.
Binders
I'm a fan of the Ultra Pro Deck Builder, would recommend.
Agreed. In my opinion it’s the best zipper binder on the market. It’s a bit pricey though.
Most D rings are fine. Everyone has a "preferred method". I use D rings with top loading pages and double sleeve the cards. I'm using some side loading portfolios but I'm not liking them too much, the cards don't slide out as easily in my opinion for relocating cards and reorganizing.
If you're going to just make a set and store it, probably go with a portfolio with a zipper. If you're going to be constantly reorganizing and expanding the set probably go with top loading pages and make sure everything is double sleeved.
When it comes to brands just make sure you look at reviews. Ultra pros are typically fine.
Ultra pro are good. But here in Australia we have a brand called palms off and they are absolutely unreal.
Anything without a ring (causes dents, rip base set 🥲), that doesn’t crimp in the middle (causes bends), has side loading pockets (dust doesn’t get in) and has a zip (extra dust protection) would be fine.
Best binders for pokemon cards
Key Considerations for Choosing Binders for Pokémon Cards:
Capacity: Look for binders that can hold a significant number of cards. Common capacities range from 9 to 12 pockets per page, with binders typically holding 20-40 pages.
Page Quality: Ensure the pages are made of high-quality, acid-free materials to prevent damage to your cards. PVC-free pages are ideal for long-term storage.
Size and Portability: Consider the size of the binder. Standard 3-ring binders are easy to store, while smaller binders are more portable for taking to events or tournaments.
Design and Aesthetics: Many binders come with Pokémon-themed designs or artwork. Choose one that reflects your personal style or favorite Pokémon.
Durability: Look for binders made from sturdy materials that can withstand wear and tear, especially if you plan to transport them frequently.
Recommendations:
Ultra Pro 3-Inch Binder: This is a popular choice among collectors. It holds up to 360 cards with 20 pages and features a durable cover and a variety of designs.
BCW 3-Ring Binder: Known for its sturdy construction, this binder can hold a large number of cards and comes with high-quality pages that are acid-free.
Pokémon Elite Trainer Box Binders: These often come with themed designs and are specifically made for Pokémon cards, providing both style and functionality.
Choosing the right binder will help protect your collection and make it easier to showcase your favorite cards!
