TL;DR
Anker Soundcore Series
The Anker Soundcore series, particularly the Q30 and Q20 models, are frequently mentioned as great budget options. Users have praised their sound quality and effective noise cancellation, although some have noted that they may require reinforcement over time due to wear [2:1]
[3:3]. The Q30 model is also highlighted for its app capabilities, allowing users to tailor the noise cancellation settings
[3:5].
Bose QuietComfort Series
While not strictly budget-friendly, the Bose QuietComfort series, including the QC35 II, is often recommended for those willing to spend a bit more for superior noise cancellation and comfort [1:2]
[2:11]. These headphones are known for their durability and frequent sales can make them more accessible
[2:12].
Sony WH-1000XM4
The Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones are another popular choice for high-quality noise cancellation. They are praised for their bass and overall sound quality, though they come at a higher price point [1:4]
[1:8]. It's worth noting that some users have reported durability issues with newer models like the WH-1000XM5
[1:10].
Other Recommendations
For those extremely tight on budget, Cowin E7 headphones were suggested, though they have known durability issues [3:6]. PowerLocus was also mentioned as an option, though specifics about their performance weren't detailed
[3:8]. Sennheiser Momentum 4s were recommended for their sound quality and app features, although they're closer to the $200 mark
[4:6].
Considerations Beyond Discussions
When choosing noise-cancelling headphones, consider factors such as comfort, portability, and battery life. If possible, try to test them in-store or purchase from retailers with good return policies to ensure they meet your needs. Additionally, keep an eye out for sales or refurbished models to maximize value within your budget constraints.
The title says it all, which noise cancelling headphones would you choose for your productive work? Budget is not my main concern, simply want to buy a high-quality and durable one, so feel free to leave any suggestions that you're happy with. Thanks in advance.
I have a pair of Bose QuietComfort that are great. My wife swears by her Sony WH-1000XM4.
I tested both and found the Sony had significantly better bass but both seemed similar for noise cancellation.
Bose QC45 headphones rock. I had the QC35 before, which were good too.
AirPod pros. Small size, Great sound, noise cancellation and terrific for video calls, Flights and even sleeping if necessary. Best bang for buck IMO.
I have AirPod max as well. They have excellent noise cancelling and response but they are bulky, heavy and not nearly as portable so I rarely use them now. Kinda regret buying them honestly.
Also, large bulky headphones can look a little goofy or distracting on professional zoom calls IMO. In-ear headphones/earbuds/earphones offer all the benefits of the over-ear (minus the battery life) and are much more discreet.
Over ear: Anker sound core with ANC are good and cheap. Maybe not for a passionate audiophile but gets the job done. Look great after many miles of travel.
Google Pro buds with ANC are surprisingly good!
Yeah I really like my Anker Q45’s. I’m NOT an audiophile and they were more in my price range. No complaints yet
I love them but every time I buy a pair from Anker I have to make sure to duck tape them because the fall apart after a year or so
Sony WH-1000XM4 are pretty damn good. You pay for it though.
Used to have Sessenheimer but not happy with them the past few years.
I have the WH-1000XM5 and the quality sucks.
After 1 year of not even day to day use, the hinge broke. This is a known issue many others have had https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyHeadphones/comments/1fnr6i3/sony_wh1000xm5_hinge_breakage/
For $250 I was expecting them not to break after 1 year of not even continuous usage. Had to use super glue to fix the broken hinge.
Never buying anything from sony again.
I've had mine for a number of years and they are still going strong, I did have to replace the swivel bit but that was really easy
Same. I miss the style of the Momentum 1s - but briefly had the Momentum 3s, and the Sonys are better than that.
Seems others don't agree though - https://www.reddit.com/r/FiiO/comments/1802wzj/help_me_decide_which_one_to_buy_between/
What the hell are earphones?
Hi,
I am looking to buy a pair of noise cancelling headphones for travel and work. I know there are the Bose that are around 250. But I was curious if anyone had any recommendations for something better 50-100?
Not a fan of the NC on my Jabra. I wish I'd bought Bose.
Fine for day to day work use but meh for travel
You aren't going to find buy it for life noise cancellation headphones in that price range.
You aren't going to find buy it for life noise cancellation headphones at any price range.
Max lifespan of about 5 years. Closer to 3.
Hey, I'm looking for budget headphones that are noise-cancelling, portable, have good bluetooth connectivity, and that are comfortable.
I'm considering the Space 1 or Q30 model, but not sure which is better. Would you recommend the Q30 for my preferences? How has your experience been with them? Thanks.
I second the Soundcore q30's. I have a pair, and although I needed to reinforce the housing above the pivot point on both sides, they work perfectly. Sound quality is good and noise canceling is good as well. I have had no issues is being heard. So, depending on your definition of 'Buy it for life', it may fit the bill.

Anker soundcores are great, i just didnt care for how bulky they are. I switched to sony which sit closer around my head, but they are somehow worse quality even though they are $50 more expensive

Which model did you say was bulky? Thanks.
Also recommend these. I replaced the ear muffs with after market cloth ones. The originals lost the syn-leather after a year or so of daily use. Excellent sound and value.
Bose QC35 II on Amazoin, they're killer for both travel and work. Solid noise cancelling, comfy for long hours. If you're hunting deals, definitely a win. Hope this helps others looking for quality without breaking the bank.
The Bose go on sale frequently, I got mine from their website for $180 last year, still not $100 but just an FYI
im EXTREMELY sensitive to noises. they dont even have to be loud, if the noise is even slightly aggravating or annoying i have a meltdown. and i have a single father who works in a dead trade so we are very very very tight on money, like literally all the time. my dad is threatening to not take me in public or to family gatherings anymore because i have a meltdown almost every time we go out. but he said he'll buy me some headphones to help as long as they are affordable, so not much more than like 80-90 dollars. also i physically cant use ear buds bc i have super small ear canals, even the smallest size of the little rubber caps dont fit in my ears.
These are the ones I have. I have small ear canals too actually, and these were my solution to ear plugs.
Edited to add my only con: The noise canceling can be turned off by touching the right side, and I touched it a lot when I first got them. Definitely a learning curve.
There's like 53k reviews on amazon, so definitely take a look at them!
Cowin e7 or its clones, but be advised the hinge pin is prone to breakage
The Anker Soundcore Q series is a little pricier but much more durable so far. I have a Q30 and it is the best so far.
i have the anker soundcore q20 which is quite cheap and still does a pretty good job noise cancelling. they don't cancel 100% of noise, but i live in a city so that feels safer anyways.
Same with the q30, in the case of the q30 the associated app allows you to tailor the cancellation. Most noise cancellation headphones do allow some frequency bands to pass usually in the voice range.

I bought these march 31, 2022. Things I like about them: good battery life, pause and volume buttons on the headphones. While it is Bluetooth I can still plug and aux cord into it to use it on my computer, does t use battery for that.
Now I feel like an arse because they’re not available anymore ☹️
Powerlocus
Replying to a super old post, but if you want deafening rather than background noise cancelling, get loop earplugs. They are not electronic (just a physical block between your ears and noise) and the cheapest model ($25 I think) are the most noise cancelling.
As per actual headphones, I have Soundcore Life q20 headphones, and while they work great for background noise cancelling (they don’t do a ton for talking or irregular noise), my current ones only lasted about ~2 years. Electronic parts are fine but the actual headset has fractures and no longer maintains a seal.
Replying to a super old post is a way to get to the top page of google search results apparently. Always though they get burried or smt
I'm looking for some over ear headphones with the following requirements:
I'll be using these headphones for listening to music and watching movies, with the ocasional session of gaming.
I've seen a lot of options but they don't seem to have a consistent reviews across different tech or audiophile websites or YouTube channels.
I'm open for any suggestions. Thanks in advance
Sennheiser Momentum 4s have a really neat app with a 5 band EQ and sound personalization option if you'd prefer to not use the EQ function. ANC is 7/10 but the sound quality is amazing, they have a 3.5mm jack for wired listening but also has an internal DAC so you can also use them wired via USB-C to USC-C connection which sounds really nice. They were recently on Amazon and I believe Best Buy for $199. Give them a try, get past the break-in period and if you don't like them return them.
I hate headphones like this, but these were sort of an exception. They’re the best in class for sure and I can also recommend these with confidence.
+1
I do think the price tag is a little higher though.
They're almost 300 dollars at Amazon. I live in colombia, so I'll have to check if they are in other stores at a lesser price.
Ideally, I'd like to spend less than 200.
!thanks
u/frankeestadium (1 Ω) was awarded their first Ω. You love to see it.
You may still award an Ω to others, but only once per-person in this post.
They often go on sale or also in retail if you can find them, the lowest i found them was 199 in an airport
I would look at a pair of gently used Bowers and Wilkins PXs, PX7s or Sony XM4s.
I had the B&W PX7 S2E's and they sounded really amazing but I read too many negatives about the longevity of the materials (and the replacement pads are $75) plus they don't have a 3.5mm jack, which I didn't know when I ordered them, so although I absolutely loved the sound, I winded up returning them.
The OG PXs have 3.5mm and usb-c.
That wouldn't work for me. I have OCD and I'm just not capable of using a pair of used headphones.
Thanks for the recommendation tho.
A follow up...
I saw that the edifier headphones seem to have a lot of features at a low price. Are they any good? If so, which is the best?
Xm4 can drop down to that price. Check Slickdeals

This will add +1 Ω to that users flair. This subreddit is powered entirely by volunteers and a little recognition goes a long way. Good luck on your search for headphones!

For studies in a noisy places It should be in budget It should also consist of both blootooth and cable And it should be dual blootooth system idk about headphones that much.
Hi, with a very affordable price you can choose the Q20 i from Soundcore (25/30€ in France)
Not sure what your "budget" is, but the best consumer ANC HPs are from sony, bose, and perhaps apple
they are the only ones with worthwhile feed forward and feedback mics dedicated to noise cancelling.
other than that, foam earplugs?
Could someone create a list of different noise cancelling headphones for different budgets? I'd do it myself but I'm in no way wiser than some in this subreddit. If it's a really good list then maybe the mods could attach it somewhere.
Part of the issue is that not all of us have purchased multiple sets of headphones to confirm anything about their quality, so the list would be no different than going to amazon and sorting by price. Then there are the features they offer. Your best bet is really to go to a Best Buy and start trying them on.
I have the Sony 1000XM3's and a cheap pair of TaoTronics that also work fine. The Sony XM3's offer an ambient sound mode where I can have noise cancelling and let a small amount of noise in with a "focus on voice" option. This allows me to cancel most trigger sounds but still have a conversation. That feature alone is worth its weight in gold and completely distinguishes them from any similarly priced headphones.
Do you have the over ear or on ear 1000xm3's
Over ear
There are a lot of lists like that available online. IMO Sennheiser and Sony are the best bang for your buck with Audio Technica being a good contender on some models. Bose gets a lot of love, but they are overpriced for what you get. Again, one man's opinion. Headphones are a highly personal thing, and I recommend going somewhere you can try out multiple models in your budget and reading reviews for the ones you like until you find what suits you.
I own Bose, Sennheiser, and Sony noise cancelling headphones, and Bose has the best noise cancellation by far in my opinion. They're more a feat of engineering than a high quality set of headphones. I consider them to be the well polished turds of the audio industry.
Which Bose do you own?
Their noise canceling is definitely great. I find their audio quality lacking though, so by the time I crank my Sennheiser's up, I cannot tell a difference in the noise canceling because I'm not focused on the missing highs and lows of the Bose.
I get where you are coming from, but it would still be a good baseline to start with for people just joining and learning about the value of good headphones.
My favorite is the Sennheiser PXC 550 (about $250) I’ve tried different Bose headsets and like another commenter here, I prefer the sound quality of the Sennheisers.
rtings has really good sound measurement evaluations of almost every model out there, and they constantly update it
Sony WH1000xm3
Trust me when I tell you that you don't have to look into it any farther.
Can anyone recommend headphones for cancelling out background noise that won’t cost a fortune? I searched for similar posts and while I found a lot they all recommend the same brands for around $150- $300 and I just can’t spend that at the moment. I’ve also seen a lot of people recommending Krisp but I’m unsure if that’s just for use with programs like Teams or if I could use it on actual customer service calls as well. If anyone could clear that up or knows of any low cost good headphones I would be really grateful
I’ve spent the last hour scouring Amazon reviews but it’s difficult as some say great noise cancelling and other reviewers say it’s awful for the same product.
And the noise I need to eliminate is substantial btw- 5 month old crying, toddler yelling, two kids who run loudly everywhere and keep their normal speaking voice at a yell for some ungodly reason. I’m not able to use my office anymore and while the room I’m in is separated from main living areas it’s still out in the open
My company supplied wired headphones. They became extremely uncomfortable during Zoom hostage situations. I get these as a replacement. I am very happy with them!
JLab Go Work Wireless Headsets... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09674F2X6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Just in case anyone stumbles onto this post with a similar issue I found these headphones- Jabra Evolve2 40 MS Wired headphones for about $90 and they are great!!! Cust can no longer hear my kids screaming around me, my co worker even said it sounded like I was in a room alone when my baby was wailing a few feet away while I’m a conference call with my supervisor. The cons are a short wire and the mouthpiece can only be worn on the right side, but I will take that any day over fear of losing my job over constant background noise
Personally I like the bose qc 45. There are cheaper pairs but they get frequent enough sales that I find them worth it.
Logitech G733 sold at GameStop 59.99 great fit comfortable excellent noise cancellation 29 hour charge will not be disappointed.
I have Soundcore by Anker Life Q30 , but luckily have not needed to use them a huge amount. They do an amazing job with low frequency constant noise like fans or traffic. Less so with conversation type noise, but as far as I can tell this is the same with all noise cancelling. The newer model has been out for a while, so these should be accessible fairly cheaply.
Seconding Soundcore. I have the XRs and they're amazing.
Sony xm4 over ear has been good for me

Najbolji omjer cijene i kvalitete.
Nažalost koristim windows, android i PS5.
2)Mikrofoni nikad nisu vau.
Opet, brine me to grejanje glave i zimi a kamoli leti.
Good luck!
Sony WH-1000XM3. Moze i noviji modeli XM4 ILI XM5
Samsung Buds 2 Pro. Imaju dosta bolji zvuk (pre svega bas) i noise cancelling nego Huawei Freebuds 4i koje sam imao pre njih.
Hello! My ACEFAST T6 earbuds recently passed on so I'm looking for a new—and better, since I recently learned they aren't exactly high quality—pair.
Sound quality for music is my top priority, preferably clean and crisp with a fairly decent bass. Good noise cancellation is also a must; I always listen to music outside as I get easily overstimulated from people talking loudly.
My budget is under $100.
Thanks!
Soundcore Liberty 4 NC are amazing value.
How's the noise cancelling?
I've just broken my 4nc and got the Sony link buds s I'll let you know how the anc stack's up tomorrow
Pretty damn good I’d say.
I also own the Sony XM4’s which cost 3x the price and I’m struggling to find much difference in terms of audio quality & ANC.
Edit: I was gonna go for the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro, but then I heard that its noise cancellation is mediocre.
It's not mediocre. It's actually quite good.
I’ll be honest if you need top sound quality and nothing else any galaxy bud will do except the live the galaxy buds series is among the best sounding tws. I’m not Samsung fan boy search crinacle best sounding tws you’ll understand. Ps don’t get soundcore for it’s sound it’s not accurate whatsoever but I guess it can be considered fun if you like over exaggerated everything if you want anc soundcore is the best option
Realme air 5 pro not a double
You really can't expect top-level ANC for under $100 (except for the Liberty 4 NC) so if sound quality is important to you, then the sacrifice in ANC is worth it with the Liberty 3 Pro. Or you could do what I did and run memory foam tips. They improved the passive noise cancellation to the point where the ANC was more than just acceptable. It actually became very good.
Greetings, I was recently moved to work at a school full of problematic teenagers and my office isn’t isolated, so the place is really loud. I tried to use some old Sony headphones with ANC and it made some difference but not enough for those high pitched screams and just loud noises in general.
What are some good options out there? I know just about any ANC headphone should do but the issue really has to be those human noises as I have been unable to find much information of which headphones could isolate those well.
Most ANC cans, whether by design or not, always do a better job cancelling low-pitched noise than high, so you might just have to live with the screams
Happy cake day, and well as much as I would just be able to live with them but they can sometimes really give me a headache listening for kids screaming 5h straight xD
i'be been using a pair of WF-1000XM3 and the ANC works great.
I have these, I think they are really good too.
The thing is that I need more than ”great”
best budget noise cancelling headphones
Key Considerations for Budget Noise Cancelling Headphones:
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): Look for headphones that offer effective ANC to block out ambient noise. Check reviews to see how well the ANC performs.
Sound Quality: Ensure the headphones provide good sound quality with balanced bass, mids, and highs. Look for models that have received positive feedback for audio performance.
Comfort and Fit: Choose headphones that are comfortable for extended wear. Look for padded ear cups and adjustable headbands.
Battery Life: Aim for headphones with a decent battery life (at least 20 hours with ANC on) to avoid frequent recharging.
Connectivity: Consider whether you prefer wired or wireless options. Wireless headphones should have stable Bluetooth connectivity.
Durability: Look for headphones made from quality materials that can withstand daily use.
Recommendations:
Anker Soundcore Life Q30: These headphones offer excellent ANC, up to 40 hours of battery life, and great sound quality at a budget-friendly price. They are comfortable for long listening sessions and have a customizable EQ.
TaoTronics SoundSurge 60: A solid choice for budget-conscious buyers, these headphones provide decent ANC, up to 30 hours of playtime, and a comfortable fit. They are a great entry-level option.
Mpow H12: These are very affordable and provide good noise cancellation and sound quality for the price. They also have a comfortable design and decent battery life.
Choosing any of these options will give you a good balance of performance and price without breaking the bank!
