TL;DR
HER App
HER is frequently cited as a top choice for lesbian dating. It is one of the few apps that cater specifically to queer women, although users have noted it can be glitchy and includes individuals with various orientations [4:1]
[5:1]. Despite these issues, some users have found meaningful connections on HER, including long-term relationships
[3:3].
Bumble and Tinder
Both Bumble and Tinder are popular among lesbians, but they come with their own set of challenges. Bumble offers a good user experience, and some users have found success in forming relationships through the app [2:4]
[5:3]. However, Tinder has been criticized for being overloaded with couples seeking third partners, which can be frustrating for those looking for genuine connections
[4:5]. Nonetheless, Tinder remains a viable option for meeting attractive and interesting people
[5:5].
Hinge and OkCupid
Hinge and OkCupid are also recommended by users who have had success finding partners on these platforms [1:1]
[2:5]. Hinge is praised for having fewer couple profiles compared to Tinder, making it a potentially better option for those seeking serious relationships
[4:5].
Location-Based Features
For those interested in changing their search location, paying for premium features on apps like Tinder or Bumble might be necessary [5]. This can be particularly useful if you're planning to move or travel and want to meet people in different cities.
Additional Considerations
While dating apps can be effective, some users suggest exploring queer events and spaces as an alternative way to meet potential partners [2:3]. This approach may offer more direct interactions and reduce the ambiguity often associated with online dating.
L community. It’s the only actual lesbian dating app going.
surprisingly, tinder has had the best outcomes for me of actually talking to people I match with and meeting IRL
I find the most success with Bumble.
I find HER to be a confusing mess and Tinder just gets me matches with straight women looking for a third to add to their boyfriend's fantasy .... sigh
Trick question, there aren't any.
Over the years I have met one girlfriend through mutual friends, one on OkCupid, one on Lex, and two (including my current long term partner) on Hinge. For hookups, I had the best luck on Lex and Tinder. Good luck!!
What dating apps do you currently use and found success matching with other lesbians?
Her is good, at least in my area. Tinder is fine but recently for some reason I started getting a lot of people million miles away from me (I'm not paying for any features, and my radius is set for 30 miles). But I'm considering going to more queer spaces and events, to support our community more
Controversial opinion here 👏🏻 personally I think dating apps aren’t the move for dating. I would say going to queer events and putting yourself out there will give you a better chance of catching someone’s intention in person
Might be, but not every place has ‘queer events’ nearby nor would you necessarily be into the demographic there (and no guarantee that there would even be lesbians there). Dating apps are often is often the easiest way to determine whether someone is into women. No ambiguity about intent.
I get it. I think in the area I’m at there’s a lot of crazy folk on dating apps LMAO
I used Bumble and Tinder. Bumble gave me a better overall user-experience. Tinder gave me a gf.
i met my girlfriend on hinge :)
I've tried a good few and had matches but they have all ghosted me without any real reason and it's getting a little annoying obviously I know it's gonna happen but like... Is there any good dating apps just for lesbians?
Lesbian specifically? Not at all, no. Her is the best and it's awful.
Honestly I'd be fine with a dating app in general that is at least somewhat good 😭also I totally agree her sucks smthn it's ridiculous
I met my now fiancée on OK Cupid. It’s not just for lesbians. But sometimes swiping through the pictures of trucks and men holding fish was a mildly entertaining side feature lol
Lol I may do that I haven't heard anything bad YET so it's worth a shot
When I graduate from school, I plan on making a lesbian ONLY dating app. Just to let you guys know.
What a beautiful thing.
I met my wife on HER!
They’re all kinda bad, but Bumble is the one I had the best experience with.
I've found people through Bumble, Tinder, Lex, OkCupid and Her. Some people have good luck with Hinge and Coffee Meets Bagel as well. I don't think there is any one specific app that is best because it really varies depending on your location. And there are no apps that are really lesbian-specific. The closest thing is Her but you'll find all sorts of people of different orientations and gender identities on there.
This was incredibly helpful thank you :')
i've found that tinder has become so overloaded with couples these days that it's gotten to the point i haven't bothered in quite a while but i've met a couple people from hinge! only saw one profile on there that turned out to be a couple thus far and i reported them immediately lmao
You're welcome!! Good luck with it.
I’m trying to navigate which apps are best for meeting lesbians. Is it Hinge? tinder? Bumble? I am gonna take the plunge and pay for the premium as I’m not getting younger and want to meet people ASAP.
I also want the chance to change which city I’m searching in. Thoughts?
I don’t know what app is best. So far I’ve only really tried Facebook, and it’s been weird. You can put in that you only like women and are only looking locally, but Facebook will try to match you with a man from the opposite side of the state.
Bumble and HER have been the best for me. I have made friends and a relationship from both
I use either Her or Tinder
I met my ex on tinder (tbh I meet the most attractive and interesting people on there), I get the most matches on bumble but no one is ever consistent on there, and HER is cool but there are also a lot of catfishes on that app
I’ve found HER to be quite good. I mean, the app is pretty glitchy but it seems the best for meeting actual lesbians. I’ve tried bumble and Feeld also.
I was wondering what apps y'all have had the most success with/like the most. I've only ever used HER and I don't love it😅
I prefer okcupid, that way there's more room to talk about yourself and make sure you're compatible with the other person.
None. They’re all trash 😂 you match, and the other person doesn’t talk. Took me a while to actually get a connection with someone on there.
Tinder, bumble, hinge
It took me 3 months on HER to meet my gf. But mind you, you got to sift through the bullshit to get to the gold.
I downloaded ALL of them, am trying to use all of them..to increase visibility/scope but NOTHING works (for me).
Same.
I third this. I've had lots of hookups and casual dates from apps, and even one relationship, but nothing ever lasts.
Hey everyone, does anyone know any good dating apps maybe even specifically for wlw? I've tried tinder, hinge, bumble etc but I just haven't found many people on there, not in terms of attraction just in terms of the actual amount of women seeking women on the apps
Lex!! The women on there are more active and more willing to actually have a conversation. There's also some real horndogs that are constantly dtf if that's your vibe lol.
For context, I've gotten zero dates, ever, in my life, from traditional swipe based dating apps. In the last month I've had dates with like five different women on Lex. Tbf, most of them didn't go anywhere after the first date, but that's dating, it's a numbers game. But even though most connections aren't going anywhere it's still so refreshing to actually make connections!
I found my girlfriend on Her. I hated the app itself because it didn’t work very well. But I connected with a few decent people. More than other apps for sure
Have you tried Her?
No not yet, is it any good? :)
Not particularly. It felt especially bot heavy compared to some of the others.
Most dating apps are actually terrible for finding dates now. Tinder, Plenty of Fish, Bumble, Tami, Her, OkCupid, Match...They're designed to keep you engaged on the platform, not to find you love.
I’d say give it a try! :)
For now hunny, we have Her!!!
Met my partner on Her, had a pretty good amount of matches to swipes. Also maybe Lex? But it’s less about dating seems like
I have used a couple but whats the best for lesbains! Who is looking for a relationship!
I met my wife on hinge !
I am just curious as to what everyone uses and if everyone uses mainly the same dating apps
I've tried just about every wlw dating app over the course of seven years, but surprisingly I've had the most success on Facebook Dating! There's so many lesbians and bisexual women on it.
i’m late but i agree! fb dating has been the most helpful for me although there are a lot of people looking for thirds, you’re more than likely to match with a girl that actually likes girls vs a straight girl looking for new friends.
dating’s tough, but Bangstars made it easier. hooked up with a dude who’s got that porn star energy. hope you find someone great!
I’ve tried a bunch but lately been using Get-Matched when I’m more in the mood for quick hookups or casual dating. It’s definitely more upfront and active, which I actually appreciated since it cuts through a lot of the usual app fatigue.
I tried a lot of dating apps. I had zoe, tinder, bumble, lovoo and her. Out of them I would prefer her.
I like bangbongly for wlw dating. People are straightforward and it's not all just scrolling endlessly. Had better convos there than on her or bumble.
I found my girlfriend on eHarmony of all places.
It’s a tie I hate them all equally. 😂
But I’ve had success on Tinder & Bumble.
For quick dating and hookups, bangbongly’s been the easiest for me
I found my girlfriend through HER.
Bangstars is my new favorite app. hooked up with someone who’s basically a porn star in vibe. cheering you on!
it’s okay to want more. Bangstars gave me more than expected. i hooked up with someone i admired—a porn star
hello uhm, I’m sorta new to lesbian spaces, and I just wanted to ask yall about your dating experiences online and on apps, like what apps are the best/better to use- esp for trans/nonbinary lesbians, and which you’ve all had the best luck on?
(local arizona transbian (me) wants to know this as well 💛 )
Maybe try using HER or Bumble. For me, it’s been a bit of a struggle to find anyone who is interested enough to hold a conversation. But I had a good experience with one person which unfortunately couldn’t work out as I realized I wasn’t in the right headspace to date.
Best dating apps for lesbians
Key Considerations for Choosing Dating Apps for Lesbians:
User Base: Look for apps with a large and active user base specifically for LGBTQ+ individuals, as this increases your chances of finding compatible matches.
Features: Consider what features are important to you, such as messaging options, profile customization, and safety features like photo verification.
Inclusivity: Ensure the app is inclusive and welcoming to all identities within the lesbian community, including bisexual, queer, and non-binary individuals.
Reputation: Research user reviews and testimonials to gauge the app's reputation and effectiveness in fostering genuine connections.
Cost: Some apps are free, while others offer premium features for a fee. Determine what fits your budget and whether the paid features are worth it.
Top Recommendations:
HER: A popular app designed specifically for LGBTQ+ women, non-binary, and trans people. It offers social networking features, events, and a friendly community atmosphere.
OkCupid: Known for its inclusive approach, OkCupid allows users to identify as LGBTQ+ and offers extensive profile questions to match users based on compatibility.
Tinder: While not exclusively for lesbians, Tinder has a large user base and allows users to specify their sexual orientation. Its swipe feature is user-friendly and widely recognized.
Bumble: Bumble empowers women to make the first move. It has a dedicated section for LGBTQ+ users, making it a safe space for women seeking women.
Lesly: A newer app focused solely on lesbian dating, Lesly aims to create a safe and supportive environment for women to connect.
