TL;DR
Wooden and Minimalist Designs
For those seeking a minimalist wooden floor lamp, the IKEA Lauters is a popular choice. It features a simple design with an ash finish and neutral shade, making it a budget-friendly alternative to high-end designer lamps like Miguel Milá's [1:1]. Some users suggest DIY options, noting that with some woodworking skills, you could create a similar lamp at a fraction of the cost
[1:2].
Stylish and Adjustable Options
The Adesso Brooklyn Floor Lamp was recommended for its stylish design and sturdy construction [2:2]. Another user appreciated lamps with adjustable height options, which can be useful for different lighting needs
[2:3]. The Harcourt Tripod Floor Lamp from AllModern also received positive mentions for its aesthetic appeal
[2:1].
Lighting for Windowless Spaces
In spaces lacking natural light, the OttLite floor lamps are highly recommended. They provide bright, natural light suitable for reading and office work [5:1]. These lamps are praised for their ability to adjust both the warmth and strength of the light, making them versatile for different settings
[5:3].
Unique and Artistic Lamps
For those interested in unique designs, some discussions highlighted artistic lamps such as tulip-shaped floor lamps [3:1]. While not practical for everyone, these lamps can add a distinctive touch to a room. Additionally, sphere lamps from Home24 were mentioned for their modern aesthetic
[4:4].
Recommendations Beyond Discussions
When choosing a floor lamp, consider factors such as the intended use (reading, ambient lighting), the style of your room, and your budget. For more personalized recommendations, visiting local furniture stores or browsing online retailers can provide additional options tailored to your specific needs.
I love the fact that it's wooden, simple, has a neutral shade. Also whilst it has a cross based stand, it wouldn't need as much space as the more typically wooden tripod lamps.
Only downside is it reaaaally is not within my budget! (~£200)
Interested to know if anyone has come across similar styles/designer?
I wish I had something to suggest, but part of me thinks with a bit of YouTube, wood stain, and a long weekend, you could probably DIY it. Good luck!
This would be a sick starter wood working project
Could even improve on that design and route the plug through the stand so that you don't have an ugly wire dangling off your lamp.
The more I think about this, the more it shocks me it’s 200 pounds, the only remotely difficult part is the lamp but you can probably just buy one for 20$ at a hardware store and screw that on for the same look.
Agreed, not a fan of that dangly wire... But I think in this specific design they have made it so that you can also pull that wire as a sort of clicker to turn the light on/off
Shaker furniture
Need a link to no. 2 if anyone can find one.
I have the 3rd one and I love it! I would opt for the first, though, because I like the adjustable height option.
Edit to add- your pic of #3 doesn’t show that the cord just dangles from the middle of the legs, which is very annoying.
2nd for sure
Whichever you can carry
Try right-clicking the floor with a lantern, it's got a massive light radius compared to most other placable lights.
Does it stay out though or does the battery still run out when it's placed on the floor?
It doesn’t use battery when placed, but you do need at least one battery to place it.
I prefer antelights but these are still nice
I wish we could paint them.
Oh DEFINITELY the second (brown) one!! No content in my opinion. It echos the warmth of the orange chair and the coffee table and pendant light.
Edit: after reading other comments, maybe it’s orange. Either way this is the one, imo. It also kind of uses those same soft curves that you have in other elements of the room.
Orange one
3 to complement the orange single seater or 4 for a more mid century modern feel
I LOVE the orange one but this style of lamp often has a built in florescent bulb which will NEVER be cozy. Also the bare bulb is exposed right above your reading zone.
ETA- I like the tampon
For your space it’s the orange one - but I’d love to know where to get the first one (with the sphere). I have just the spot for it in my new home!
I‘m located in Europe, so I don’t know if home24 exists where you are but here is the link to the sphere lamp

Number 2!
No to the tampon
Underrated comment. I am ☠️
i just moved into a new apartment and plan to use the second bedroom as an office, but the room is completely windowless. it only has two small ceiling lights that are pretty weak, so the room is pretty dark and sad.
SO, i'm looking for a floor lamp that will totally (or at least mostly) illuminate the room without being super harsh. ideally, i'd like one that can change settings for *both* warmth and strength of light, as the room will also have a sleeper sofa for guests.
budget is around $150. EXTRA bonus points for sleek/minimalist designs. please post links to specific products or recommend brands you've purchased from before!! thank you :)
This is excellent, have bought 2 for this exact reason. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WD6RHFM/

OttLite I found are good for reading unsure if there are change setting options though, for basic paper work in an office environment and reasonably priced - can be found most anywhere even at Costco
I'm looking to experiment with some mods to existing lamps that are out there to make them Hue lights and I was wondering what some cool lamps are out there that diffuse the light with rice paper or something similar. I was messing around with the Ikea VIDJA which looks pretty awesome when Hue'd.
Number of bulbs and type doesn't matter much, in fact more bulbs is better as I'm working on a way to get more light out without needing all the required bulbs. It doesn't have to be something you've done either, just something you think would look great. Share your pics too though if you have em!
The sjopenna! I just got it for my room and I love it. Took a while to fold it together but it looks fantastic with my hue color bulb and it was only $35! https://i.imgur.com/rAfCiKE.jpg
My daughter has this one in her room and I really like it with the hue bulb.

I have 4 of these one in each corner of my living room. They were the first Hue lights I ever installed. Fantastic for up lighting and setting all sorts of moods.
> Ikea VIDJA
6 bulbs! That's more hue bulbs than I own, damn.
Haha yes, they are e12 base too! I've actually completely removed the sockets and use the Lightstrip Plus controller and our own strips (I'm with Sowilo DS) wrapped around the post to make a light saber out of it. Brightness is probably overkill but it looks awesome.

I use these in the living room and a table lamp version on my nightstands. Simple, professional, really spreads the colors
I have a recommendation for your tv
OP needs a neck brace, not a floor lamp
Lemme hear it
if you put it just a little bit higher up, maybe even on the ceiling, you could lay on your back on the floor and watch tv like you are counting stars. everyones dream!
A side table with a lamp would look nice in the room. And be useful.
I’m all for this, except that the lamp wires will run from the wall to the centerish of the room in this case. I would go for some sort of uplight lamp and put it in a corner or by the desk. Or get a cool desk lamp.
Need a large rug under the couch and a coffee table,
some curtains (floor to ceiling and a bit wider than the window itself)
TV is too high but can't do anything about that and maybe too small.
Couch could be pulled back some.
Also, need some plants.
r/tvtoohigh
maybe something like this
Agree with the other commenter who said something gold to match the frames, perhaps something like this would fit well!
That back section doesn’t get much traffic, but we do have a little table with stools just in case we need more seating for guests.
I just can’t seem to think of the best style to go back there! We don’t necessarily need a lot of light for back there either, and I am not afraid of mixing different styles of metal/wood.
A few extra pictures to give a better view of what I already have in the same room/the area behind the couch!
Hi! Where did you get the sofa table and stools??
Hello! The table was actually my husband’s lockdown project.
But the stools are from Amazon!

I would put something like this, I think it will look good with your style and also add some contrast to the room. .. https://www.bol.com/nl/p/handgemaakte-vloerlamp-woonkamer-design-staande-lamp-cone-white-capiz-shell-schelp-200-cm/9300000012870179?referrer=socialshare_pdp_androidapp
I think you’re right on sticking to mostly black! Thank you for your help!
With pleasure :)
something gold would look great with gold frames

I can vouch for Sunmory, we've had it for a while now and it's really nice and affordable
I am trying to find lighting for my bedroom, which is as dark as a tomb. My room does not have overhead lighting. My room is also relatively small (140 sq ft). Has anyone tried floor lamps for a bedrooms? The ones I find seem to be for living rooms as they stand out like a tree for my small room. I want one that doesn’t stand out like that and one that looks minimal and not showy. If anyone can recommend me one, that would be great. Links are preferable.
Thank you people
Not sure if this would be bright enough for you but I’ve always loved these for bedrooms, where I don’t want bright lighting anyway
It’s one of those lamps that’s just a slim bar or wood with led facing a corner
I love that! I haven’t seen a lamp like that before.
There are some nice minimal looking lamps at Walmart, Target, IKEA and lots of other stores. The range in price from super cheap to super expensive. There’s tons of them on Amazon as well.
I love the mainstay one from Walmart super cheap and doesn't stand out much in the corner. I use a cheap mercury light bulb in it and I can dim it to whatever and links with Alexa.
Well, I have to say, a floor lamp is a must-have in my bedroom. Before getting one, my eyes used to get really sore after looking at my phone, but things have been much better since I have enough light :)
This might sound wild but have you considered rechargeable puck lights? I have some that use a magnet close to my bed that are dimmable. They’re perfect for some light reading in bed and if I need to light another area or have need of a flashlight they’re easy to move.
I live in a small studio apartment and had the same issue. The Ozarke corner lamp has saved me space and looks f*cking great in my room.
