TL;DR
Weber Grills
Weber is frequently recommended due to its durability and availability of replacement parts. Many users have had their Weber Genesis grills last over a decade with minimal maintenance [2:1]
[2:4]. The Weber Spirit line is also praised as a reliable and less expensive alternative to the Genesis, making it a great choice for those on a budget
[3:2]
[5:1]. However, some users noted that the build quality has decreased in recent years
[3:8].
Napoleon Grills
Napoleon is another highly recommended brand, often compared favorably to Weber. Users appreciate the quality of materials and construction, with many noting that their Napoleon grills have lasted for several years without issues [1:1]
[3:3]. The Napoleon Rogue and Prestige models are particularly popular, with the latter being described as a "tank" that will last a lifetime
[3:1]
[5:5].
Considerations for Buying a Gas Grill
When choosing a gas grill, consider the number of burners you need based on how much you plan to cook at once. A three-burner model like the Weber Spirit or Genesis is often sufficient for most households [3:7]. It's also important to consider the material and thickness of the grill's body and burners, as these factors contribute to the grill's longevity
[5:2].
Maintenance and Accessories
Proper maintenance is crucial for extending the life of your grill. Regular cleaning can prevent grease fires and other issues [5:8]. Additionally, both Weber and Napoleon offer a range of accessories, such as stainless steel grates and rotisseries, which can enhance your grilling experience
[3:2].
In conclusion, both Weber and Napoleon offer excellent options for gas grills, with the choice largely depending on personal preference and budget. Investing in a quality grill from either brand is likely to provide years of reliable service.
Probably asked 100 times already, but what is everyone's favourite Gas BBQ make (and model)? I've been looking at Weber's as a lot of people previously have mentioned them, but you don't seem to get as much for your money as the other brands (I may be missing something though!).
yes, Weber is the top choice for many on this sub.
but you don't seem to get as much for your money as the other brands (I may be missing something though!).
buying quality. Weber has fewer bells and whistles, but is one of the few brands to offer a "real" warranty where they will actually send you replacement parts at no cost to you.
I'd also question what more you want? More burners is not necessarily better grilling. Other accessories can be added on after. Lights and electronics break in something that has to withstand rain, snow, and 700 degree fires...
There is a reason you see 20 year old webers available for sale, and people buying them, online. There are few other brands that have even 5 year old grills in as good a shape.
and also, please use the search, this question is asked not just weekly, but seemingly daily. There really isn't anything new to add that hasn't been asked and answered dozens or hundreds of times.
Weber grills have gotten shittier. My first genesis lasted a good ten years before I gave it away to move up to a three burner. The three burner genesis replacement, cared for identically, had a rusted out stand in less than five years. They’re using cheaper steel for sure. My next grill was a Canadian made Napoleon that looks like the day I got it (in regards to the stand).
Weber, Napoleon, Broil King. All have a good reputation, good customer service, warranty and after sales. Some models are made in North America.
Cheap brands with lots of features will get you through a season or two. But will fail. Your best bet is to buy once, and cry once.
Napoleon Prestige. I have the Rogue xt625 but Prestige takes the cake.
What's your budget
Looking at £400-£600, so hoping to get a decent medium sized grill.
Good thing you asked this question that no one else has asked before... It'll be good to have this post for others to find when they search for this. /s
I finally have the space and I’m looking to get a gas grill. Pls don’t yell at me and tell me to get charcoal. I’ve cooked on gas grills my whole life and they’ve always been great. The convenience is worth it to me, especially since most of my grilling is smaller meals. I don’t want to have to go through a bunch of prep to grill a steak for my wife and I or make a burger. My dad cooks on charcoal and we go over occasionally for bigger BBQs.
Is there much of difference between brands? Can I just go to Home Depot and pick up the cheapest 4 burner they got? Or is it worth it to spend a little more?
I’m cooking on an 18 year old Weber Genesis. I recently replaced an igniter, fuel line, “flavorizors,” and grates to the tune of like $200? I’m expecting another decade out of this thing.
I had a 15 or so year old genesis that, along with my tv died in spring 2020. Think they got the flu. Replaced it with another genesis. OP the best grill for you is the one you’ll use! That said, I have too many 🙃
Just did the same with my 12 year old Weber Genesis this fall. The thing is a tank and has survived multiple moves around the country. I didn’t get the official Weber replacement parts but went with the highest grade stainless I could find on Amazon for roughly $200 and expect it to last another 10 years easily.
I have a weber spirit II and have zero complaints. Would recommend
I am pretty sure my ex-wife is still using the Weber that we bought in like 2003.
I swapped out the burners once, and replaced the grates once.
If I was going to buy another gas grill, it’d be Weber for sure
I've had my Weber Genesis for 10 years. I keep it covered but otherwise treat it like shit - it's always outside year-round in 4-season weather and I never clean the box. It's given me zero problems other than having to swap the cast iron grates for stainless grates (but I would have done that anyway because the stainless is more durable).
It's a tank and I'd recommend it to anybody in the market.
At an entry point of <$1000 for something that'll last a decade or more it's a pretty sound investment. Replacement parts are readily available, too. I theoretically could just replace a few parts on my current grill and have her for another decade but I figure this one has had a good run already.
Napoleon
Yea, I have a very nice offset smoker and 2 pellet grills, but I've thought about getting a gas grill for occasional quick weeknight meals. Did some research and Napolean are bad ass
Expensive but worth it. Had the Webers. Don't last as long.
I second the Napoleon! But you will have to go to a grill shop. They aren’t sold in every hardware store in town.
No they're not. The best. Always starts.
Cheapest 4 burner is going to fall apart in 3 years. It will have hot and cold spots, flare ups, and not be fun to cook with.
I'd rather get a used Wber/Napolean etc than settle for a "cheap" brand.

I love my Weber Spirit 310. Enough space to cook for several people, rotisserie a chicken or rib rack, easy to maintain and parts can all be replaced cheaply when / if they wear out. Awesome grill.
Also great accessories. I upgraded to stainless grates and flavorizor bars, got an electric rotisserie, and a carbon steel flat top griddle that covers the whole cooking area. Smashburgers, family breakfasts, pancakes… it can do everything.
I went down this road about 5 years ago. Everyone is going to recommend a Weber, but in the last 10-15 years all manufacturing went to China and they still rust, or that is what all my research showed. I ended up with the Napoleon brand, and I could not be happier. Stainless steel or cast iron, and most of them have a 10-year plus warranty. Actually just cleaned my 525 yesterday.
Spirit. 3 burner. Warranty is so worth it. Already on my second pair of grates and burners.
Napoleons are really good. I love mine.
I used 2 different Webers for 30 years, then bought a Napoleon P500 with my stimulus money in 2020. I love it!
I think both Weber and Napoleon are great, but I prefer the wavy grates for cooking smaller things like vegetables which I end up doing almost every cook at this point.
Get a Weber Spirit with 3 burners. That should cover all your needs. I've had one for 12 years and it's a beast that just keeps on trucking.
I got a 3 burner spirit 2 10 years ago and it's still my daily driver. Can't go wrong with that but I have heard that the build quality has decreased in the last decade.
How big do you need? You and one other who don't often have guests or limited space on the balcony? A Spirit is the better choice. The Genesis is the next up, mid-size model and can support most. The Summit is the very large, premium model that can be had even as a built in.
All things considered, the Genesis with stainless grates would be my choice.
Weber
Yep, don't get a Weber. Spend some time researching outside of this sub.
I just got a Napoleon Rogue and love it so far. The box is way better quality than my previous weber and my charbroil. Lets see how long it lasts but it has 15 year warranty on it on all the parts.
Fellow Dads,
I am coming here for advice. Summer will soon be upon us and I am in the market for a new gas grill. What do you all recommend?
Very happy with the Weber Genesis line. Mines been outside for three years with no cover and aside from the fact that it looks like I clearly need to clean it, no rust and functions the same as it did on day one.
I bought a Weber Genesis E-435 last year to replace my 7 year old and very heavily used $300 big-box store CharBroil. The Weber may have cost close to 5x what my first one cost but it is worth every single penny. I initially wanted to replace mine with a cheaper one, especially because I also have a variety of charcoal grills, a pellet grill, and a smoker... but I'm glad I didn't. Gas grills are just so convenient for weeknights. If you grill a lot, and if money allows for it, try to get a step or two up from the entry level ones at Home Depot.
If you’re in the United States, you can’t go wrong with a Weber Genesis E-335 or above.
Outside the US, the Napoleon of comparable spec would be solid too!
Just got that Genesis on sale at Costco. I've had my original Genesis I in the family for over 20 years. I'm a lifelong supporter of Weber after seeing how well that grill has held up.
All depends on your budget. Get the most expensive you can if you're keeping it outside, and keep a cover on it. Anything below $500 or so seems to be made out of cheap thun metal.
It’s the time of year you can get one off the curb pretty easy 😆
I liked 4 burner when it was the wife and kids, but now the nest is empty I bought a 2 burner. I don’t like it as much.
Spent the money on a Napoleon 6 years ago and the things a tank. Looks fantastic!
I was hoping to come in here and see the top comment be "Charcoal".
You can’t beat the taste of charcoal but I don’t want to mess with it on a weeknight
I'm into gas grills. My old grill started rusting, so I bought a new one last year. The technology is widely adapted and kinda universal. So specs matter. Burner metal thickness, body material and thickness, how the top pivots and if that'll hold up. Stainless steel is a remarkable upgrade.
I’ve got a Weber Spirit 3 burner, it’s awesome. I’ve had it 4 years so far and feels brand new still in how it performs. Just gotta take care of those cast iron grates and they’ll take care of you.
It’s been my only grill until last week when I got a Weber kettle to start dipping my toes cheaply into smoking and other low/slow cooking.
Second this. I have the spirit 3 burner with side burner and sear burner. Still going strong after something like 5 or 6 years. It's significantly cheaper than the genesis line, and given the good experience I've had with the spirit, I don't know that it'd be worth it to spend more on the genesis (but then again, I've never used a genesis so I can't really compare them)
Napoleon Prestige! Will last a lifetime.
I built mine yesterday! Great warranty and service too. Long warranty=long expected service life.
During unboxing I found a part of the cabinet was bent and paint chipped. I put in a warranty claim and they approved it before I had finished assembling the grill.
Biggest inconvenience is that I need to build my grill twice. Since I like building it's not a big deal.
They ship it out fast also.
Propane is awesome for convenience. As well as any accessories.
-Hank Hill
Weber Genesis. Cost more but will last forever and if you ever need parts they are easy to come by.
Just don’t do what I did, which was to neglect cleaning it periodically. Here’s a video 3 hours after I pulled the prime NY strips off. Grease leaked into wood chip bags and caught fire. Could’ve burned my house down.
I can google it all day but I’m afraid to get info from a paid for site. Are there any sites that are unbiased?
Weber is probably the best mass market brand.
There are other brands significantly more expensive than Weber, however. Ducane for one. They rarely get discussed on reddit because people with real money aren't here.
Weber, Napoleon, or Broil King in the $500-2500 range. Many of these have 10-15 year warranties. Weber is widely available and you can often get good condition used ones for 1/3 of retail. Parts are available for decades.
The other brands sold in the big hardware stores do not last. Many of them look beautiful and come with accessories but they will rust out.
But its 12 burners for 149.99!!
Team Napoleon
People post their Craigslist scores often. See what the most common one is. Nobody is going to brag about a piece of crap.
I’ve never owned one, but Weber is a name that seems to be known even by non-grilling folks. Dad has one and even though it’s one of the less expensive models it seems to be very well made.
From my personal experience, I’ve had good luck with both a Kenmore (first grill) and Char-Broil. Seems like most of them will last a good while if you take care of them, after that a lot of it is quality of material and features.
What is the best gas grill to buy on the market. I just want to grill and grill. Nothing over $2000. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked this, I could buy a Traeger… then realize it’s not gas and cry into my ribs. Go Weber Genesis or Napoleon Prestige and call it a day
I don't know what is "best", but I would just grab a Weber off of FBM, and spend the savings on meat.

I just got a napoleon rogue 525 pro for like $1299 on sale. 4 burners, stainless steel, infrared burner etc. I was looking in the $1200 range so around that price don’t think anything else really beats it
Napoleon Prestige 500. Great grill with a infrared sear burner for awesome steaks.
MB1050, the big green egg, Weber kettle, blackstone, a George Foreman even - these are some of the more iconic grills. What is in your opinion, the GOAT of all grills?
Weber kettle most definitely
I have a feeling that the Weber kettle is going to win this overwhelmingly.
Weber kettle gets my vote
Weber kettle is iconic for a reason
Blackstone is not a grill
But it is part of the backyard cooking experiance! Along with a pellet grill. Ain't no offset stick burner, but can turn out some good groceries.Only my humble opinion.
A lot of people don't know the difference between a flattop, a griddle, and a grill
it's a large rectangular frying pan, but outside
Weber Kettle hands down.
The true grillers grill. Nothing but charcoal and skill.
Hey all
My grill is slowly having issues - not lighting well, burners are rusting etc…
Looking to get a new natural gas grill. Probably 3-4 burner and sear station. Been looking at a Napoleon Phantom Rogue SE 425. Anyone have any reviews or have used this grill?
Also, if anyone has any other suggestions for natural gas grill, I’m all ears!!
I think that it is a good choice since Napoleon is a well-known brand as well when it comes to grills. I think that Weber is also a brand that you should consider, I had mine for several years now and I really love it. Here's where you can buy Weber in Canada if you're interested in checking out some of the models that Weber is currently selling.
I hope you don't receive too much flack here for cooking w gas. People get really bend out of shape about choices that don't impact them made by people they will never met in circumstances they have zero insight into.
I don't know a damn thing about gas's grills, but if you go for charcoal, Weber has served me well for 6 years of grilling/smoking.
Thanks for the input. I do have a charcoal Weber smoker as well so I’ve been looking at some Weber options as well.
I was looking at the Rogue and Prestige range. After deciding I wanted a 4-burner, with sear station, and rotisserie, I was down to the Rogue SE 525 RSIB and the Prestige 500 RSIB. At the time, the Prestige was about $200 more, but it came with the rotisserie kit (Around $125), a better build quality in my opinion, and the lifetime warranty (instead of 15 years).
All that said, I love it. Let me know if you have specific questions
How do you find the grill heat? Is it even? I found that my previous grill was hotter in the front half and cooler in the back, so a lot of times, I was only using half the grill.
It’s not perfectly even, but honestly it’s never been enough for me to be annoyed. There are slightly cooler zones but I got used to it after a week. I just cooked 16 burgers on the weekend, all put on at the same time, all flipped at the same time, and basically all came out the same way. There are some great tests done on YouTube that showed the hot/cool zones on most popular grills, so I knew what I was getting into ahead of time. Still, no regrets at all.
Although many here will have knowledge and advice about gas grills r/grilling will have far more insight than r/bbq.
Bbq uses charcoal/wood not gas.
Not necessarily true, BBQ is not only charcoal/wood. Gas is used throughout the world for bbq
Does not need to be the most expensive but one that will last. I've been on a Griddle kick for some time and want to come back to gas as well. Just my wife and I for the most part but a few times a year we could have family over meaning maybe up to 8-10 more. Will be stored in a garage so no worries about weather causing rust and so on. I guess a 3 burner would work well. Any recs you'd feel I should look at?
I bought a completely stainless Kirkland signature grill from Costco, if anything goes wrong with it you can just return it.
Had it for 4 or 5 years left it out one winter. Works good no cracked burners.
I never remember to look at Costco and we're members. Good call. I did see a Weber there the other day but was likely going to be too large.
Napoleon Prestige Pro 500.
Pricey but that looks like a nice product. But size wise I just can't justify it for the wife and I for the vast majority of the year.
I’ve got the phantom rogue 425 with the rear and side infrared burner and it’s perfect for just me and the wife.
Agreed about the price. I’m going to get a 665 Prestige Pro when a decent sale comes along. May have to wait until this fall when clearance time hits. Really like the CS reviews Napoleon has, along with the 15 year warranty. Being made somewhere other than China is a big bonus as well.
If you want one that will last: get a Weber
The Weber Genesis I had before the griddle was a good one. I wish I had not sold it. Now I don't need one as large and was unsure if the smaller and new Weber's are still as good or not with so many things changing in this day and age.
The old ones were built like tanks, but the new ones are still better than anything else out there
best gas bbq grill
Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Gas BBQ Grill:
Size and Cooking Area: Consider how much cooking space you need. A grill with at least 400-500 square inches of cooking area is ideal for larger gatherings.
Burner Quality: Look for grills with high-quality stainless steel burners for durability and even heat distribution. More burners (3-5) allow for better temperature control and cooking versatility.
BTU Rating: Check the BTU (British Thermal Units) rating, which indicates the grill's heat output. A range of 30,000 to 50,000 BTUs is generally sufficient for most grilling needs.
Material and Build Quality: Choose a grill made from durable materials like stainless steel or cast aluminum to withstand the elements and ensure longevity.
Features: Look for additional features such as side burners, rotisserie kits, and built-in thermometers for enhanced cooking options and convenience.
Ease of Cleaning: Grills with removable grease trays and porcelain-coated grates are easier to clean and maintain.
Recommendations:
Weber Genesis II E-310: This grill is highly rated for its build quality, even heat distribution, and excellent warranty. It features three burners, a total cooking area of 513 square inches, and a side burner for additional cooking options.
Napoleon Prestige 500: Known for its high-quality construction and versatility, this grill offers four burners, a total cooking area of 500 square inches, and a built-in infrared side burner for searing.
Char-Broil Performance 4-Burner: A more budget-friendly option, this grill provides good performance with four burners, a total cooking area of 480 square inches, and a side burner, making it a great value for the price.
Choosing the right gas BBQ grill depends on your cooking needs, budget, and space available, so consider these factors carefully!
