TL;DR
Affordable and Practical Options
For those looking for a budget-friendly gym bag, the Ultimate Gym Bag 2.0 is a popular choice among users who want something affordable yet durable. It has been praised for its quality despite its low price, making it a great option for daily gym-goers who don't want to invest heavily in a gym bag [1:1]. Similarly, the SQUATZ duffle bag backpack offers versatility with its ability to transform between a duffle and a backpack, providing multiple compartments for organization and made from tear-resistant polyester
[5:1].
Stylish and Functional Designs
Leaper sports gear stands out for its stylish design and practical features such as a USB charging port, which can be a lifesaver when you need to charge your devices on the go. This bag also includes a dedicated shoe compartment, making it a convenient choice for those transitioning from work to the gym [1:2].
Durability and Longevity
For those seeking durability, the North Face Basecamp bags are highly recommended. They are known for their robust construction and have been used extensively in demanding environments, proving their longevity and reliability [5:3]
[5:9]. Additionally, King Kong bags are praised for their well-thought-out design and durability, making them a solid investment for those willing to spend a bit more
[5:6].
Versatile Use and Size Considerations
When choosing a gym bag, consider how much space you need. Some users recommend larger bags like the North Face Basecamp for carrying not just gym gear but also work outfits and shower supplies [5:7]. However, if you prefer something smaller and less bulky, options like the Haven Athletic small duffel or backpacks might be more suitable
[1:3]
[1:4].
Conclusion
Ultimately, the best gym bag depends on your specific needs, whether it's affordability, style, durability, or size. Consider what features are most important to you and choose accordingly.
I need a new gym bag asap! I had an Adidas one but it’s on its last leg😬 Was looking into getting a WolfPak backpack but I’m open to other suggestions! Lmk!!!
I'm a big fan of Leaper sports gear. Their stuff is top-notch quality, and what I love is how stylish it is. Many gym bags miss the mark on fashion, but not these. Plus, they come with a USB charging port, which has saved me a few times when I realize my headphones aren't charged on my way to the gym! Another cool feature is the dedicated shoe compartment, perfect for those post-work gym sessions.
Haven Athletic, hands down. I just got the small duffel and love it.
Second this. I have the backpack and it’s perfect at the CrossFit gym and the globo gym.
Are they easy to wash ? I often have to throw my bagpack in the washing machine since i carry used gym clothes and shoes in it.
Are you happy with the small or wishing you for the large. I’m debating! Need room for bulky weight belt, shaker bottles, knee sleeves, tripod, wrist wraps, water
I'm super happy with the small but I'm only dealing with lifters, multiple jump ropes, multiple wraps, a lifting belt and some small accessories.
Looks like a cool bag but have they never seen a duffel bag before?
They have both duffles and backpacks. Look at their website: https://havenathletic.com/
I go to the gym everyday, so I just wanted a cheap gym bag that I can use to carry the essentials, like pre workout and lifting straps etc. I didn’t want to splurge on something too expensive because I didn’t want to spend a lot on something that might just end up breaking, so this cheap one was good enough for me. I’ve had it for about 2 months now and I am super impressed of how it works and the quality of the item. It doesn’t really feel cheap, pretty much feels like any name brand bag and it’s a perfect size for what I carry. There’s plenty of outside pockets as well and It’s surprisingly spacious inside as well. I could also see someone using this bag for travel as well, with the wet bag for shampoo or shoes. It has enough room for a weekend trip and it’s definitely worth the money with the uses you get out of it!
I like my kriger, it’s a backpack style pack
Second this love my Kriger bag
I got the ultimate Gym Bag 2.0 from amazon

I’m looking for a new gym bag, but I don’t need anything too large since I work from home and won’t be carrying clothes or shoes. It just needs to fit my gym accessories (straps, belt, etc.), a water bottle, and headphones. Any suggestions?
Honestly many of them work. If you just want a dedicated gym bag maybe the CHZ or MPL. They don't have a dedicated laptop compartment so there should be more space in the main compartment. They also both have water bottle pockets. TD35 would also probably work since it has a large main compartment.
I appreciate the suggestions. I should have also added that I may use it during travel to carry some items. I’ll take a look at these options.
I ordered the CPL24 and returned it in part because the main compartment is 4" deep, so it fits a belt, but only barely. I was considering a CTB26 instead, which has a deeper main compartment, so I'd add that to the list in addition to the above. In the end, I decided to go with an able carry max edc for comfort reasons.
As long as you don't need quick access to a laptop, I think the CHZ and MPL would be very good for you. Out of those two it's honestly up to which design you like more. To me the biggest differentiator is half-zip vs panel loading. Based on that alone I'd go for the MPL, but that's honestly up to your preference.
Yea at minimum for a belt and such the CHZ would work. I think the MPL is too tapered to fit what you’re looking to fit. Honestly the CTB20 or 26 are likely what you need. A deeper profile with the ability to still carry big water bottles and good pocketing on the exterior for snacks and your lifting journal etc.
I love my MPL30 for the gym
Not from evergoods, look at aer
I use a couple different sized duffels from Tactical Tailor, depending on what all I'm bringing to the gym. A simple floppy duffel works perfectly, as long as it has a couple pockets to separate things like wallet/keys, shoes, maybe a towel, and dirty from clean clothes. If I'm going to the gym while traveling for work and have any office items with me I'll sometimes carry one of the EG Transit Duffels, but that's really more of a travel bag for me.
Not snark, but looking for a good gym bag. I have a barbell pad, glute bands and ankle straps that I need to store in a bag while I'm walking around the gym.
I have an Adidas bag that I got from TJ Maxx or Marshalls YEARS ago. It has held up great!
Bought mine off Amazon. Just searched gym bag, found one I liked, and made sure it was like 4 stars or more
ETA: I do sometimes wish it was a bit bigger. But for the stuff you have, it’s more than enough space
Do you have a name of it?
I got yooouuuu Sports Gym Bag with Wet Pocket & Shoes Compartment for Women & Men https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079QY79GC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5E5K78SWFSQBYEXQH881?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I honestly use my north face backpack from college and it’s perfect! Not bulky so it doesn’t get in the way
i bought a north face backpack 10+ years ago and have used it for EVERYTHING (college with textbooks + laptop, moving, stuffed full gym bag) and it still looks brand new. highly recommend! i also have a lululemon backpack that i got about 1.5 years ago and it’s still in great shape and i love it as well.
I have this one from Amazon. I did actually get it for free because UPS delivered it to the wrong house and my neighbor didn’t bring it to me until late that night. But I would actually pay money for it! 😂 Been using it for 2 years now and no rips or tears or anything wrong.
vooray 100%! my favorite bags
LOVE my vooray bag!
LOVE MY VOORAY
Love my vooray, too!!

Looking for a men’s gym bag that will last, 30-35 L range.
Osprey (lifetime repair guarantee is legit but you shouldn't ever need it). For a more unique look check out Klein tool bags, they're leather reinforced canvas. If money is no object check out Filson.
I agree here. Any "bag" I need I get an Osprey. Haven't had to replace a single one but it's nice to have the no questions asked fix or replace warranty.
I’ve been a big fan of Datsusara bags. Various sizes to choose from, depending on how much gear/equipment you’re bringing with you.
Long live the goruck gym bag of old
I think it was called the Civi Bag, a mock of a pilot bag.
I got mine about 15 years ago and it will be passed to my next of kin.
Red Oxx
Hylete used to make a few very durable bags (their gym clothes hold up well too). I loved them so much I bought 5 and use the others as luggage for the family. It looks like they’ve been discontinued, but you could check eBay.
Seeking recommendations for durable/heavy duty duffel style gym bags. My boyfriend is a daily gym goer and his current duffel bag (off brand from Amazon) is in bad disrepair. Inner lining torn, side pickets and zippers separated, it’s a mess. Seeking to spend $100-$150 on a high quality, durable bag that will last years. What are the best brands at that price point?
I'm not sure why people spend so much on a gym bag. I bought this ultimate gym bagfrom amazon. It was only $30 and I have had it for over two years no issue. It has a separate compartment for my shoes which is nice since I go to the gym before work. It has more then enough space inside for my gym clothes and my pre and bottle. The low price tag also makes it so I don't have to worry about the bag I can just toss it around and its all good. Like I said I have had it for over a year now and not one issue
If you're packing gym stuff, outfit for work, and shower supplies do you think the 55L size is the way to go?
Well this is the buy it for life sub reddit. A more expensive bag isn't guaranteed to be better or last longer. However, assuming the more expensive bag is using better materials, better craftsmanship, and/or better features then why not spend more if you can afford to. Better materials/craftsmanship more often than not mean the item will last longer.
Northface basecamp makesure you get the correct size as some of them are massive, I used a large one travelling the world on oil rigs for about 15 odd years and a smaller version of the same bag is my gym bag absolutely bomb proof
Came here to pile on re: North Face Basecamp bags. An XS is a good size bag for the gym, IMHO.
Second for the Basecamp
I've got several, and I think the large one is the one I use to haul about fifty pounds of personal equipment from truck to truck each shift. It's holding up very well.
You use these as a gym bag?
Which size did you go with? Does it hold everything he needs for the gym?
I always recommend King Kong bags, they are well designed and durable. https://knkg.com/collections/duffels
I second King Kong and you won’t regret it. Great bag.
What size did you get? I’m wondering if the 51L is comically large or just right.
I think you should consider the SQUATZ duffle bag backpack, it’s the perfect gym partner for a multitude of reasons. The bag, as its name suggests, can easily transform from a duffle bag to a backpack, depending on what your bf prefers. It’s made out of tear-resistant polyester fabric so it’s sure to last a long time. The bag has multiple compartments and pockets and has a weight capacity of 80lbs, it’s perfect for storing all your gym essentials in, even a change of clothes if your bf prefers showering at the gym after his workout. The bag is also heavily water and odor resistant which is a huge perk.
It's me. I am the one who has been doing CrossFit for years, but more often than not walks into the gym with my arms full of gear I need for the day, often leaving a trail of snacks, tape, and shoes behind me. If I bring a bag, it also has multiple other uses in my life, so something is forgotten. I have decided it is time to invest in a bag.
Here is what I tend to have with me:
What are you favorite bags for this?
Just bought a Kriger bag because having everything dumped into one compartment in my 2016 Nobull bag was driving me (and those around me) insane. It’s even got a mini kind of washing line on the outside for drying sweaty knee sleeves or wrist wraps!
Under Armoura Cordura Duffle backpack. Had mine for 6 years, no tears and looks great. Separate shoe compartment. I carry shoes, sandals, extra clothes, weight belt, jump rope, various straps, chalk, tape, carb supplements, bar pad for hip thrusts. I do accessory lifts after.
Does it stand up on its own when it's not full? My current bag collapses and drives me nuts
The walls do not collapse. They are rigid. It’s not like the cheap ones, I know what you’re talking about
Another vote for King Kong. Have one for me and my wife going in 5 years. They are built to take a beating. Come to think of it. Maybe I should wash them after 5 years!
Seriously those are 150 go to Ross grab a champion bag 12 dollars and be done lol but that’s what I carry
Can't go wrong with Built for Athletes
Go in your closet and find a backpack or tote bag that you haven't been using. Put all of your stuff in there.
In true spirit of many bagging I am on the hunt for a bag solely to use for to & from the gym but am of two kinds as to whether I want it for gym clothes or for work/regular clothes.
For the former I’d like it to have a separate shoes compartment and preferably also a section for dirty clothes, it doesn’t need to hold much just shoes, socks, shorts, a few shirts, a towel and some minimal toiletries so I’d want a bag on the smaller side. The intent would be just to grab & go for the week so I would change at the gym and change back after. Out of what I have seen the Aer Gym Duffel 2 Small comes closest to this but is still bigger than I would like and has features I don’t need/want.
For the latter I’d be looking at more of a garment bag that has a shoe compartment where I would wear gym clothes to the gym and then change after, often into a suit but haven’t been encouraged in that endeavor yet as everything I’ve seen is big & bulky meant for weekend trips etc. The Amazon Basics one is the only one in this category I’ve seen that seems like a fit.
I searched the sub for gym and read all the results that sounded relevant but they were all more in the one bagging spirit with things I don’t want like a laptop compartment, if I need my laptop I’ll just bring my briefcase but hanging gym shoes off it and stuffing a packing cube of gym clothes into it is getting old (after doing it a grand total of once lol).
TL:DR; want a companion bag either solely for gym shoes + clothes or alternatively a bag for work clothes + shoes, any recommendations?
It still has a laptop compartment but I use and like the Aer Duffel 2 (X-pac version). It’s a bit bag for just the gym but I bring a change of clothes, sandals, a few items for the shower, a towel for the steam room, and a pressure point roller. The laptop compartment is mostly to bring an iPad for the cardio machine or a magazine. My gym also has a nude reading lounge up front so I’ll chill out after a workout by reading there, too.
>A nude reading lounge up front
Sounds like an interesting gym or autocorrect is making things fun.
Oops! Should have been “nice”
DSPTCH Gym/Work Bag, plus it has a laptop compartment as well.
do you have this bag? Not much out there in the way of hands on experience that I can find.
Yup i do. Shoe compartment fits a pair of shoes comfortably. Build quality is great as well. I use it for work travel as well. I really enjoy the laptop compartment on the side and there's an additional clip to ensure the laptop is secure.
The main compartment is slightly narrow but if you use packing cubes - it will definitely help with the organisation.
Check this video out for a rough idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prBsI_c9G6o
Underarmor Undeniable Storm is a basic gym duffel with a separate shoe compartment.
I use a Datsusara gear bag for the gym. Haven’t heard it mentioned around the sub before; it’s a small jiujitsu apparel company, and practitioners like it because it’s made of hemp, which keeps off the stink from sweaty stuff. It has a big side pocket that can fit shoes.
Came here to post this. Breathes so stuff doesn't just stew while it is in there nasty.
Loved the gym bag so much that I ordered a hoodie and fanny pack too. Simple, well-designed with great material. The gi’s a bit too pricey for me though.
https://www.amazon.com/Timbuk2-Lug-Duffle-Black-Size/dp/B0741P2QHY
This has been my fav. gym only bag. Smallish and light.
There's a wet compartment that takes up about half the bag. I fit my sneakers and used gym clothes there.
Think its officially discontinued from timbuk2 but other sites have it.
Any recommendations for a gym backpack? I have the buff bunny game changer backpack (I know). I love the cooler pocket and really want another bag with a similar feature. I don’t want another buff bunny one because I feel the overall quality isn’t there for the price. It’s decent quality but should hold up better to daily use for the price IMO. Any recs? It doesn’t have to be specifically marketed as a gym backpack but I mainly need a cooler pocket and something that will last daily use with 2 kids.
Probably unpopular opinion...
I absolutely love my WolfPak bag. It holds my lifting shoes, all my straps/ accessories, and it had an insulated front pocket. It fits 3 large meal containers in it. Yes it a bit bigger, but it holds everything I need & more!
I have the 35L meal prep bag.
Seconding this! I have a 35L and I got my bf the 45L. They hold a lot and are very durable imo. Ours get beat up at the gym but we also use it as our personal item while traveling so it’s worth it to us because we get a lot of use out of it.
I’ve been eyeing this for a minute. Do you find the price is justified? I currently use an under armor backpack and it can hold my shoes, bb pad, bands, gloves, post workout supps, two 32 ounce shaker bottles and my lifting belt. No cooler or insulated pockets (which would be a game changer for me).
I know they are pricey, but I've had it for almost a year now. I have no complaints! Nothing has broken or worn down. I use it almost every day. I think they are worth it!
Mm I wouldn’t choose Wolfpak, mine has been falling apart since the day I got it. I have a 45L meal prep bag: big enough for all my things, but the buckles have been dropping off and the zipper tags popped off after a couple months. Mine is pink, so perhaps the other colors are higher quality.
I love the newer Beis carryall bag I pack a bunch of toiletries, work gear, sneakers, and snacks/water and it’s great
I have the Dakine Campus backpack in 25L and I’m a fan. It also comes in multiple sizes.
How long have you had it? Does it hold up well?
I’ve had it for about a year. I use it as my carry on when flying and as my daily bag for work. It’s held up great! Only signs of wear are on the zipper pulls. They’re just folded up ribbon and not finished on the edges so they’re fraying a bit but it doesn’t bother me
Are you in Europe? because this Decathlon bag is great. I've been using it for over a year for work and traveling and the cooler pocket is awesome.
Vooray!!
Looking to get a new gym bag... typically carry powerlifting gear:
•shoes •belt •couple pairs clothes •wraps, straps, etc. •knee/elbow sleeves
Wondering what you guys use?
I just go to Marshalls or Ross and buy whatever's cheap. I can't bring myself to spend a ton of money on a bag. Some guys at the gym just use Ikea sacs
I use my schoolbag from high school
Works okay, more than enough space
Didn't cost me any extra
King Kong
Nike Brasilia, a nice little cheapish duffel bag. Fits my belt, shoes, towel, straps, chalk, gym clothes, etc. Has internal zipper pocked for coins, lock, training log. Also has a large external zip pocket on one end and a webbing pocket on the other. Also it’s small enough to fit in a locker or take with you onto the gym floor. Would recommend.

Looking for a bag with compartments. Mine is just thrown together. Appreciate any input.
What’s the best backpack duffel? Anyone got an input? I’d like one as large as possible.
I’ve heard good reviews of the bear komplex one.
King Kong duffel bags are the ones a use. They are tough as hell
Second this. And I had a strap start to fray and they sent me a new bag no questions asked, did not have to return the original. The belt loop on the Core duffel is so incredibly useful. I will never not get a King Kong!
Also here for King Kong — have 2!
No Surrender Gear bags are my favorite
Which one?
I had an older version of the Echo and it was perfect.
I have the Grizzly as well, but it’s a little too big for me as a gym bag, so I use it for traveling.
Love my Bear Komplex bag. It’s huge but I carry a ton of shit w me.
Yep I love my BK duffle so many compartments for everything!

Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Gym Bag:
Size and Capacity: Consider how much gear you typically carry. A medium-sized bag (20-30 liters) is usually sufficient for gym essentials like clothes, shoes, and a water bottle.
Material and Durability: Look for bags made from durable, water-resistant materials like nylon or polyester to withstand wear and tear.
Compartments and Organization: Choose a bag with multiple compartments to keep your items organized. Look for features like a separate shoe compartment, pockets for water bottles, and smaller pockets for keys and phones.
Comfort and Portability: Ensure the bag has padded straps and handles for comfort, especially if you’ll be carrying it for extended periods. A backpack style can be more comfortable for longer commutes.
Style and Design: Pick a design that matches your personal style, as you’ll likely be using it frequently. Many brands offer a variety of colors and styles.
Recommendations:
Nike Gym Club Bag: A versatile option with a spacious main compartment, durable material, and stylish design. It’s great for both gym and casual use.
Adidas Defender III Duffel Bag: Known for its durability and ample storage, this bag features multiple compartments and is available in various sizes.
Under Armour Undeniable Duffle 4.0: This bag is water-resistant, has a large main compartment, and includes a shoe pocket, making it a great all-around choice.
Lululemon All Day Duffel: If you're looking for something stylish and functional, this bag offers a sleek design with plenty of pockets and a shoe compartment.
Choose a bag that fits your specific needs and lifestyle to ensure you get the most out of your gym experience!
