Popular Korean Makeup Brands
Korean makeup brands are widely recognized for their innovative and high-quality products. Some of the most popular brands include Rom&nd, Peripera, Missha, Clio, and Etude House. Rom&nd and Peripera are particularly known for their lip products, offering a range of vibrant colors and long-lasting formulas [1:1]
[2:4]. Missha is famous for its BB creams, which provide excellent coverage while maintaining a natural look
[1:3]. Clio offers fantastic lip tints and mascaras that have gained popularity among beauty enthusiasts
[1:3].
Where to Buy Korean Makeup
For those in Australia, there are several options for purchasing Korean makeup. Online stores such as Stylevana and YesStyle offer a wide selection of products with discounts [1:3]. Physical stores like W Cosmetics and Lila Beauty also carry various Korean brands
[1:4]
[1:6]. Additionally, Seoul Beauty Club ships to Australia and provides full-sized items from a mix of K-beauty brands
[1:5].
Clean and Vegan Korean Makeup Brands
If you're looking for clean or vegan Korean makeup brands, Laka, Freshian, Sunnicorn, Orjena, Femmue, and Unleashia are worth considering. Unleashia's glitter products are made with biodegradable glitter, appealing to environmentally conscious consumers [4:1]. These brands often market themselves as "vegan," focusing on natural ingredients and sustainable practices.
Little-Known Korean Brands
There are also lesser-known Korean brands that offer unique and high-quality products. Melixr and Urang are considered hidden gems, providing effective skincare solutions [5:1]
[5:4]. JKosmmune, now known as Kosmetic Immunity, specializes in beta-glucan-based products that are fragrance-free and gentle on the skin
[5:2]. Isntree and Sidmool are other brands that have garnered positive reviews for their skincare offerings
[5:6].
Recommendations Beyond Discussions
While these discussions highlight popular and niche brands, it's important to consider your specific needs and preferences when choosing Korean makeup. Researching product reviews and ingredient lists can help ensure you find the best match for your skin type and desired look. Additionally, exploring social media platforms and beauty blogs can provide insights into the latest trends and recommendations within the K-beauty community.

I'd also recommend subbing and reading r/AsianBeauty r/KoreanBeauty
Some of the makeup brands I personally use or have used in the past include Clio Makeup, Tony Moly, Romand, Etude House, Dasique
Also Nudieglow as they carry Korean makeup artist brands like AoU, Glow, and JSM and also Unleashia.
Stylevana is great, because they always have ~20% discounts; I've probably placed about 20 orders on the site now over the past few years, and never had a problem. YesStyle also tends to be reliable. NZ also has Hikoco, which is a very popular K-Beauty store in Auckland, and I believe Australia has Lila Beauty.
My favourite brands are Clio (the Crystal Glam Lip Tints and mascaras are fantastic), Amuse (I recommend the Jel-Fit Lip Tints), Missha and Purito for BB creams, LAKA for shine lipsticks that I think are better than the Dior ones, Tocobo for great tinted lip balms, Rom&nd and Colorgram for eyeshadows, Peripera and 3CE for blushes (the Peripera Pure Blushed Sunshine Cheek in "Mauve Cream" is probably my most used blush at the moment), and Peripera for lip glosses.
Seoul Beauty Club might be a good place to start. They ship to Australia and include a mix of K-beauty brands, with full-sized items not just samples which is nice if you actually want to use the products for a while. It’s helped me get a feel for what works without having to figure everything out on my own.
There are plenty of W Cosmetics around! It’s nice to go in store and try before you buy
The ones I know of are Rom&nd and Peripera. Both are well known for their lip products. I’m trying to remember some foundation/base brands I’ve heard of. I think Missha and Judydoll are two brands I’ve heard of that do foundations and BB creams. I keep meaning to try some Korean lip tints, but I either forget, or nowhere seems to have the specific shades I want when I do remember to go looking.
I think a lot of people are ordering Korean makeup online. There are probably places you can go in person, particularly in the state capitals. W Cosmetics is one place I’ve heard of that sells a lot of Korean makeup online. I’ve ordered a couple of things from YesStyle before when I couldn’t find an Australian retailer that had the specific shades I wanted in stock. YesStyle ships from Hong Kong, and depending on stock levels can take 4-6 weeks to ship stuff. It does arrive quite quickly once they do ship, though.
Judydoll is Chinese btw
Thanks! Goes to show how much attention I’m paying!
I need them!
hi! i almost exclusively use korean makeup and skin care, and since they’re pretty intertwined i will give the list of absolute favorites.
background: i have sensitive/dry skin, redness. also have psoriasis and these products never caused me any damage, in fact made my skin feel/look a lot better.
skin care:
TOCOBO calamine pore control cleansing oil – extremely gentle, takes off any makeup with ease, really does clean up pores!
ANUA heartleaf quercetinol pore deep cleansing foam – extremely gentle foam, i use it after the oil :) doesn’t dry out the skin, have been my daily favorite!
Papa Recipe Blemish Enzyme Powder Cleanser – this one is not for daily use, since it’s (even though it’s one of the most gentle ones) exfoliater. i use it 2-3 times a week. doesn’t dry out the skin!
Dr.Althea 147 Barrier Cream – MY LOVE, MY HOLLY GRAIL. i use it daily, sometimes nightly. skin after this cream is just mwah!
TOCOBO Vita Glazed Lip Mask/ TOCOBO Lemon Sugar Scrub Lip Mask – i use them nightly, since my lips are very dry. they are way better than laneige! i swear by them, i can go to sleep with cracked lips and wake up with juicy and plump ones. WITCHCRAFT in the bottle.
other skin care products like toners, essences, serums and cremes should be right for your skin type, so i’m not going to list them here. if you want you can message me privately and i can give my recommendations!
make up:
Dasique Correcting Sun Base (i use the green one) – it’s a tinted primer, i use green for my red skin! does awesome job of prepping skin for later steps, makes you have that natural glow! also has SPF 50+ which is awesome!!!
Haxley Secret of Sahara Priming Essence Radiance Layer – another one of my favorite primers, if i want to go without foundation it’s my go too. has a pretty strong scent (which i absolutely love)
fwee Cushion Glass Natural – one of my favorite cushion foundations ever. doesn’t oxidize on skin, looks extremely natural, glowy, dewy. moisturizing too!
TIRTIR Mask Fit All-Cover Cushion – this one is another favorite! don’t believe the matte part, at least on me it’s not matte at all, more of natural finish. skin looks FLAWLESS. has better coverage than fwee, stays on long.
UNLEASHIA Bye Bye My Blemish Concealer – the best concealer i’ve ever worn. will cover up anything and everything, doesn’t crease, stays on, looks great. no complaints at all.
FEEV Hyper-Fit Color Serum – a very natural looking liquid blush! the smallest bottle will last you forever, very pigmented. doesn’t dissolve the foundation, at least didn’t with the products listed above :)
fwee Lip&Cheek Blurry Pudding Pot – it’s definitely worth the hype it got. i use it daily, especially when i’m lazy. you can put it on cheeks, lips, eyes and have a good makeup look in less than 10 minutes. take a look at their lip glosses too! really do look like glass on your lips.
BRAYE Thin Glow Tint – can’t even count how many compliments i get with this one! lips look shiny even an hour after i put it on, feels like witchcraft. doesn’t leave stains/smudge.
here you go! feel free to ask any questions and please excuse me if i’ve made any mistakes, english is not my first language :) hope i could help you!
Shu Umura for makeup. It’s divine!
Romand, Clio
I just started using beauty of Joseon skin care and I love it! Been using for about a month now
okie
Hi! Im native korean and I recognized that some unfamilar korean cosmetic brands (to me) are pretty popular to u guys..!! Its really interesting so I would like to know what k-beauty brands are popular among foreigners! I would rly appreciate it if u name some k-beauty brands u know and u r using it. Thanks!!
My local store sells etude house, cosrx, isntree, innisfree, dr jart, iunik, klavuu, pyunkang yul, purito, missha, benton, a’pieu, and neogen :)
I’ve always wondered which Korean cosmetic brands were popular brands to native Koreans. OP - what are some of your fave brands?
Hi! Probably i should share an article on this topic once I release it on my blog! I usually don't wear the makeups but for skincare, I use ’the lab by blancdoux’ products! And 'Dr.G' sunscreens are good as well :)
In all the local Korean markets I shop at, there is usually a Face Shop, Nature Republic, Aritaum, TonyMoly, etc and I usually buy Innisfree, EtudeHouse, Son&Park, SkinFood, and 3CE online.
Any of the bigger/more mainstream brands, such as Laneige, Dr.Jart, Innisfree, Banila, Tonymoly, Sulwahsoo... Non-natives aren’t likely to recognize many of the smaller/indie brands, simply due to their lack of availability overseas.
Along with all of these, I've heard of Kaja and Etude House although I haven't used any of their stuff. I love Innisfree and had no idea that Dr. Jart is a kbeauty brand!
The ones I think are popular (based on what my Korean and korean american friends recommend, and also youtube and also things I use) are: peripera, iope, laneige, ohui, etude house, innisfree).
What brands are considered popular in korea?? Also have you heard of the brand rarekind?? Is that popular there? A Korean youtuber I follow really likes it and I'm super curious, but it's so hard finding it 8n the US
Hi! Did u know that all of the brands u mentioned except for the peripera are all owned by one company 'Amore pacific'? :D i havent heard abt the rarekind, prob bc i dont usually do make up, but its also own by the Amore pacific! I also looked it up a bit and apparently its p decent brand!
oh wow, i did not know they were all owned by the same company! i guess my friends and I have a preference haha
I like Mary and May and Purito. But I guess it really depends on what your standards are for “clean” products as everyone seems to have a different set of ingredients they avoid
Mary & May and Purito are skincare brands but not MakeUp brands.
Oh shoot- I totally misread the title! Thanks for helping me realize my mistake!
Mixsoon has some good products! Love their bean essence.
I haven’t seen any good ones tbh just skincare!
They don't have an expansive line but Laka is a clean line. Other ones I know off the top of my head are Freshian, Sunnicorn, Orjena, Femmue (a luxe line focused on floral extract based skincare and makeup), Unleashia (their glitter products are made with biodegradable glitter!). In Korea a lot of "clean" lines call themselves Vegan as that is how they market over there.
What are little known brands you have ever seen? Do you use their products? Are they worth trusting? For example I have Jigott, deoproce, farm stay, dabo, 3W clinic products in my city but I'm not confident in their quality.
I absolutely love JKosmmune (recently changed to Kosmetic Immunity I believe). They’re a Korean brand that’s all about beta-glucan . All of their products are fragrance-free, simple, and effective. I personally love their shampoo: it helped soothe my super dry scalp and is so hydrating that I don’t use conditioner anymore. Super huge bottle and beautiful minimalistic packaging. I have also ordered their serum after using a few samples and will review it ASAP!
My friend is currently working for rom&nd so she recommends me some lips from the brand and they're far beyond my expectation.
Omg their zero gram lipsticks are my hg fr >.<
My fav!! Literally 0gr on my lips with great staying power
I would also love to top it up with their Juicy Tint, smells AMAZING, trust me >.<
But their swatches of these tints are not as pigmented as in the photos.
On the other hand, that makes them the best MLBB tints
Melixr and Urang are HG brands for me but quite small and obscure. Have only found them in one shop in Seoul
I’ve been eyeing Urang for a while now! The blue oil and rose products are esp tempting me. I’ve only seen them available on OhLolly though and the prices are high. Is Urang expensive in Seoul?
My mom gifted me some Urang products from a korean beauty kit she bought at Costco! They are great quality and I love the texture and ingredients.
Which Urang products did you get? I’ve been eyeing them for a while but I only see them available on OhLolly
I'm not sure if these are considered "little" but I enjoyed using products from Isntree and Sidmool. Before those two, I used to use Manyo Factory!
Yes, I love the Isntree hyaluronic toner!
Their rose petal lipsticks are quite nice
I am totally obsessed with their Grain Ferment Cleansing Sherbet. It’s a truly VOLUPTUOUS cleansing balm, somehow cushiony...beautiful ingredients. Every time I use it (2x a day) I feel like I’m doing something so special and fancy

So far, jungsaemmool!!!! I have posted everywhere about their masterclass cushion lol. I also have the color correcting concealer palette and the mool cream and love them all. I did not like the lip-pression tho.
Romand has been good for me in terms of lips- i really like the glasting water tint.
thank you, i’ve heard so many good things about the jungsaemmool cushion. i’ll have to check it out. how’s the coverage? is it more matte or dewy? and i love romand tints too
Rom&nd’s blush is my current obsession. I love Hera’s black cushion. Peripera’s tint is my all time favorite tint. And Clio’s water proof pencil liner is my holy grail eyeliner.
I would love to try the blushes but it’s not brown skin friendly though, however the lipstick are wonderful , for Clio I think I need to try the Eyeliners. Everyone has rave about it.
What shades from romand do you recommend?
Romand better than cheek blush is the absolute shit. I’ve tried other AB ones (Etude, peripera) and they’re just not the same. Romand provides the most beautifully even, non-patchy, blurring effect. My ride or die.
As for romand lip tints, they’re good but my unpopular opinion is that they’re overrated lmao. Especially when other brands have equally as good if not better tints. Peripera ink mood glossy tint is king imo for gloss + comfort on the lips. Amuse dew tint is also a great watery tint with decent staining power.
I’m a big fan of matte/velvet tints: Etude fixing tint has great pigment, blurring, and staying power but is a tad drying. Peripera Ink the Velvet is non-drying and lightweight, I like it better than its older sister, Ink Velvet, which is drier and heavier on my lips. Amuse dew velvet is another watery tint that is really lightweight (also a tad drying).
I’ve tried only one AB concealer: the Saem Cover tip concealer. It’s SO good, it’s comparable to my expensive non-AB concealers if not better: med-high coverage, scentless, so easy to blend, long-lasting, and it has spf!! And it’s cheap as fuck lol. Only problem is the ass shade range, but that’s unfortunately endemic to AB.
I don’t use cushions a lot but I have two: Clio The New Founwear and the Peripera Mood Fit. Both have semi-matte finishes. The Clio is super popular in Korea, but my hot take is that I like the peripera better lmfao. From what I’ve read online this specific Clio cushion is lighter than it should be. I can confirm because despite both being my standard shade (No. 21) the peripera fits my skin tone, whereas the Clio one is at least one shade to light. I’ve also tried the glowy version of the Clio cushion (the pink Kill Cover Mesh Glow) and it fits my skin tone fine. And performance wise I like the peripera better, it’s a bit easier to blend.
And for mascaras, I will choose a random AB mascara over the most high end Western ones any day. I have small eyes, so it’s imperative that my mascara have small wands. SMALL WAND ENERGY IN THIS HOUSEHOLD, always. Heroine make is well-loved here, and while I do like them I’ve been impressed by Korean mascaras lately. The Romand Han fix’s wand is significantly smaller than Heroine’s, so that’s been my go-to lately.
This is making me realize I buy way too much fucking makeup lol
For lip tints, amuse has a really good lip tint
i bought their liptint for the wonyoung photocard and i don’t regret it. it’s the perfect everyday lippie
3ce ❤️ their eyeshadow palettes, blushers, blur water tints, highlighter… so good
3CE eyeshadow palettes are the goat fr. High end done right.
YES THE BLUR WATER TINTS WHY ARE THEY SO UNDERRATED
Also love their powder blushes (don’t transfer into masks, great longevity even when I sweat bullets in summer) and eyeshadows.
Eh, as with most asian beauty brands, it won't be great for anyone with darker than medium skin tones. I am fair and it works well for me - The pink/peach shades I have to tone down with the yellow as its too dark for me.

Go to HWAHAE & Glowpick, you can search via categories and ranking
I’m curious which brands are highly rated in Korea? What do the locals like?
2020 Domestic Cosmetics Brand Preference Top 12 in South Korea
Source? Skinfood and Tonymoly are very surprising to me, Koreans haven’t consistently liked their offerings.
Same here. It's from Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation.
A lot of amorepacific brands are really popular (like listed below). Also have heard my friends in korea rave about Make Prem and Dr. Jart!
How are the Korean beauty brands ranked as far as drugstore, mid tier, and high end/luxury. Western makeup equivalents, drugstore being brands like revlon and Loreal, generally under $20. Mid tier being brands you’d find in Sephora/ulta such as urban decay and tarte, around $45. High end/luxury would be something like pat mcgrath and charlotte tilbury, upwards of $60. I’m not really sure since like a lot of sites up their makeup prices or they give big discounts. Makeup doesn’t typically get huge major mark ups so I can’t really tell when I’m buying Korean beauty. Also what are the general Korean consensus on their brands? How popular are they?
I hope you can read simple Korean. There is a cosmetic product rank page on "naver". I cannot add the url because I'm new reddit user. The page you can check the most searched, and the most sold items.
This is a good question. Thanks for asking this!
in terms of makeup, roadshop brands include names like etude house, romand, innisfree, peripera, missha, lilybyred, coringco, memebox, eglips, tonymoly, with clio veering towards midrange, 3CE, dasique, laneige, hince, jung saemmool, with dear dahlia veering towards high end, hera, sulwhasoo, history of whoo. most korean brands are usually roadshop brands. in korea, korean roadshop and western mid-to-high end makeup is usually quite popular.
