My wife is about to become a therapist, she’s in her internship now. She’s embarrassed about her cheap reusable grocery bag that she uses to carry her laptop and stuff. Whats a good buy once cry once bag that she can use for years? I’m thinking leather but am open to any ideas! Thanks
Checkout Costco next, I got a B&Rlaptop bag this week, $100 less on costco next.
Congratulations to your wife. On her upcoming career as a therapist! she need to buy the Missnine Laptop Tote Bag. What's her preferred style?
I’ve used my Timbuk2 bag for over a decade. Filson also makes nice bags. Honestly, there are a lot of nice bags out there.
2nd for Timbuk2. I've had one with a company logo and when I changed jobs I got a new one custom made
My timbuk2 bag won't die. I've had it since 2013, and it is showing very little signs of deterioration. It is showing signs of use, but it's not falling apart.
My black Timbuk2 messenger bag has been used almost every day for over 20 years. Still looks brand new. Get the classic messenger bag and a strap pad.
My in-laws got me a Briggs & Riley briefcase a dozen years ago. After daily use for five years and occasional use since, it still looks new. Big fan.
Fjällräven for me. It is much less a corporate look and feel, I was recommended the brand by a friend around two years ago and as much as I was skeptical, it's been one of the best purchases I've made recently. Super comfortable, plenty of storage.
"Raven 28" in Dark Olive.
Does the Raven 28’s laptop compartment have a false bottom?
Been waiting on a sale for this one
Yes or Portland Leather!
I got the TimBuk2 Spire backpack and it's a lifesaver for carrying my laptop and iPad, especially in bad weather, thanks to its waterproof feature. It's got plenty of pockets for all my stuff and the design is super handy for when I'm biking or out on an adventure.
Looking for a bag that can handle work (laptop, notebooks), coffee shop hangs, and weekend trips. Is this tote actually versatile, or does it kinda suck for anything beyond traveling?
Pros? Cons? (Pockets? Durability? Straps comfy or dig into your shoulder?)
Also—if it’s mid, drop your fave alternatives! 🙏
I like my aerostitch messenger bag , they come in waxed cotton that looks a little western ie Filson like
You know... I just can't fathom paying like $150 for a bag but it seems like all the less expensive ones aren't roomy enough. I need to be able to fit my laptop, files, personal crapola, and even pee cups for drug screens. Everything but the kitchen sink, essentially.
Any suggestions?
If you have a heavy bag and are in the field a lot I agree with folks about a backpack being best for your back. Or even a roller bag. But if that’s not the case — I love my Lo &Sons OMG bag. Has a crossbody strap if a tad heavy. Extremely durable, have had mine for 3 years and looks brand new. They have lots of sales if you get on their emails.
Timbuk2 are nice
I got a secondhand Timbuk2 bag on poshmark and I could not possibly love it more. I don't know how I lived 30 years without this bag.
I have a custom timbuk2 that is great. REload from philly make awesome custom bags as well.
I use my LL Bean backpack that I’ve had since high school

My friend owns this company so I'm a little biased but they are great bags! A bit of an investment but they do hold a lot (and come in chic colors!).
I’m just a BSW student lurker here but these bags are gorgeous and I think I needed to order one yesterday!
I use a backpack. Keeping all of my supplies on one shoulder was killing me.
Hello! I know there have been posts like this before, so I apologize in advance for that- I’ve looked through them but still haven’t really found what I’m looking for.
I really want to get a laptop bag that is both beautiful and functional. It needs to be able to fit a 15” laptop, and ideally would work for travel as well as casual daily use.
I’m looking for:
I have no budget in mind because I’ll save up for something I really like.
Through my searching I’ve found a couple bags that I’ve really liked, but they only fit a 13” laptop in the dedicated laptop sleeve. 🥲 I lurk in this subreddit a lot and have really enjoyed it, and I figured this would be a perfect place to ask!
What is your budget?
Here ’s a few things I’ve been considering that fit a laptop of that size: Gemini bag by white elm Transform tote by pond LA System tote by Cuyana
I really like the Cuyana one and have been contemplating purchasing it.
I bought the Transform by Pond and hated it. Felt very cheap. Their customer service for returns was a nightmare as well - wanted to make sure I kept all the original packaging on including the polystyrene handle wrap and caps that were supposed to be on the feet of the bag but weren't on when they delivered the bag??? Come on.
No budget! I’ll definitely save up for anything I really like
What about something like the Bostanten? It's big enough for a 15" laptop, plus it's really cute.
Michael Kors has some great options with some discounted price and a fair quality
What options cause I just got one that said it’ll fit 17” and it my 15.6 laptop is sticking out by an inch
For $3300 ?
You might like this https://www.calpaktravel.com/products/luka-expandable-laptop-tote/chocolate - it is designed to fit 15" laptops, it has a luggage sleeve, it has several interior + exterior pockets, and it's very light. Also a bunch of colours to choose from. Worth checking out - not sure if it qualifies as "beautiful" but even though it's simple it definitely looks good!
Oh I really like how functional this is though! The expandable part is a very cool feature
I don’t know a lot of brands so hope you can help me!
Im looking for a mid range good looking bag to fit my laptop and carry it on daily basis. Marc Jacobs Tote Bag doesn’t catch my eye, as well as longchamp bags. The only thing I like about Marc Jacobs that there is a long strap and I find it very convenient.
I second Sampsonite, I have this one and use it for business travel. Fits a 15.6” laptop and has the sleeve for luggage hidden in a zipper. Nylon but super durable and it’s on sale right now
Madewell shoulder transport tote was my favorite when I used to go into office
Technically it’s a laptop bag but I get so many compliments on this samsonite bag and it attaches to my carryon. It fits my 16 inch MacBook Pro samsonite bag
Thirding Samsonite. I actually use a backpack and get so many compliments from my co-workers (tech role). [Samsonite Backpack ](http://Samsonite Classic Leather Slim Backpack, Cognac, One Size https://a.co/d/iHhhVBw)
I have the Kate Spade Knott commuter bag in black and I really love it. It’s well-made, attractive, and sturdy.
Does it have a padded laptop pocket??
My laptop fits in the center compartment (that zips) which is padded in that there are two exterior pockets on either side. But it’s not a dedicated padded laptop pocket, if that makes sense.
My boss has this bag and it looks so good in person
I didn’t end up buying it because I go to the office like once a month now but I saw it in the store and it was really well built. It’s a gorgeous bag as well.
The Kaai Pyramid is the best work bag I’ve ever seen.
I don’t need one anymore as I work remotely now but oh how I needed one in my years of commuting.
Yeah this bag is gorgeous. The leather feels great and easy to clean
I'm looking for a new laptop backpack and have shortlisted a few. So far I've researched the below brands, are there any others I should check? I'm always keen to make sure I've reviewed all the options before ordering something!
The shortlist I've ended up with is the Incase Icon Slim, Aer Pro Pack 20L, Samsonite Biz2Go 14.1", Thule Crossover 2 20L.
Any advice appreciated thank you.
I’ve been using a SwissGear 1900 Laptop backpack for 4 years now and it looks pretty much brand new still. You can also check the list of laptop bags recommended by reddit users here.
Reported, blocked, anyone else stumbling across this bot comment from Google I go ahead and suggest you ignore this bots comment and report as well.
The Matein travel laptop backpack is solid. Walked with this thing every day for the past year. Doesn't give me much back pain and its durable too. Would recommend for sure
Had my Matein for a couple months now. Can attest that this product is solid
Came here to say this!
Consider Vintage Laptop Business Backpack to your list. It's good it has lot of space that you can put all your stuff in one bag.
I've been using the Everki Atlas and have experienced its durability and functionality firsthand. The build quality is top-notch
So I’ve been trying to find a tote that looks stylish yet sophisticated and professional looking for work, but the only problem is that very few fit my 15 inch laptop. Any one has any recommendations?
I bought a Longchamp Le Pliage in size L specifically to fit my 15” work laptop.
Cuyana totes are great quality and won’t break the bank. I just bought my second one.
Thank you! Which tote would that be?
https://www.cuyana.com/bags/small-easy-tote/10010070.html?dwvar_10010070_color=cappuccino
I ordered the small tote in olive green with a zipper top and got the matching thick crossbody strap. I bought one of their large totes years ago. Quality was amazing but I need something a little smaller. Their classic totes are LARGE!
The big chunky handles are very stiff and durable, but not in an uncomfortable way, it also comes with thinner, more flexible shoulder straps you can clip on as well!
I was looking at this bag! Anyone have experience with it? I was afraid the side pockets wouldn’t produce much utility if I’m not using it for file folders or something flat
They hold quite a lot, for example my side pockets have my phone, wallet, cosmetic pouch…doesn’t have to be flat
Same! Can’t beat the price as well. I’m really hoping I like the quality of the tote I ordered - it looks a bit orange in the images but the video and customer images looked more saddle leather - eek hope it’s okay. At least they have free returns!
The Rae tote from coach will fit it! It’s such an amazing bag, I’ve seen a fair amount of love for it on this sub!
Thank you! Love the caramel brown color 😍
I just ordered that one! 💕
I just ordered Quince’s leather tote (different style than this one) - it hasn’t arrived but they have quite a few with great reviews and fit laptops!
The Regina leather tote bag shows cool and niche. Big enough to hold my 13.3-inch Macbook pro. There is a small bag inside for other small things. The leather is soft and the shoulder strap is wide. I don't feel tired even in a crowded subway.

I don’t know about edgy but I got the Aspinal of London “London” tote a few months ago and it’s absolutely perfect. Easily takes my laptop, iPad, 2 big leather notebooks, chargers, makeup, and water bottle with no issues. It also has a zippered section in the middle whic is very useful. It’s very classy looking and the leather is great quality. I get so many compliments on it
That’s really cute! I like the pink one.
Thx!
For some reason I felt like this sub was a good place to ask this since I’m looking for a bag thats made out of tech materials, but is also stylish. The closest I’ve found are the Totes from DSPTCH. They even sell an add on for any bag that gives you a laptop spot...
I’m just wondering if I missed anything?
Try Bellroy - they have an awesome tote/backpack combo. Def a more "urban style" vibe. More, design professional is kind of their thing. Think they MIGHT have a pure tote as well, but don't quote me on that. If you really want to go unique, check Porter Yoshida. Really cool design company out of Japan. Pricey though, but they def have totes.
I'm focusing on the "stylish" part of your request. Apologies if I've exceeded budget, no intention of being elitist hahaha. But, these will help your search. I think Bellroy is a great middle ground. Really good company and products.
Ooh I totally forgot about Porter! I fell in love with their products when I visited Japan, but have never bought anything from them. It used to be kind of hard to get in the states but I think it’s easier now.
My budget is as high as it needs to be I suppose
Cool! Yeah their website isn't the best, but you can buy from it now. SO many bags and slings haha.
PeakDesign - love their bags
I just ordered on of these to check it out. Some places in NYC carry mission workshop, but I figured it would be easier to just buy it and return it if I don’t like it.
I have a backpack from them that I bought years ago and I loved, but eventually retired.
That’s what you think. MW customer service isn’t as easy as Outlier. It’ll take some time for them to process your refund.
I take a lot less chances with MW stuff due to this. They make great stuff and I’d try more of it if they processed refunds in a more timely way.
Mystery Ranch super booty. Good jack of all trades option.
I think that’s discontinued
MR no longer makes them but there are plenty in stock across the net.
The 1733 Daily Tote has a nice padded laptop sleeve:
https://meridian.vision/products/1733-for-meridian-daily-tote-black-x10
It’s been sold out for like 2 years though.

For photo gear and electronics, I love Think Tank. Very well made bags. I have an Urban Access 15 that I use pretty frequently.
I’m currently using and Eberlestock Switchblade as my EDC/commuter bag and I’m pretty happy with it. Materials and layout are solid.
ETA: oops, corrected
Thanks
If you are looking for a different aesthetic but a good commuter/laptop backpack in Ecopak, my favorite of the modern materials, you may want to check out the Flowfold Commuter Center Zip Backpack.
I’ve really been liking my Able Carry Daily +, it holds enough to get you through the day and has really good organization within the bag. It is on the slightly smaller size of the 21L it claims, but still found it plenty.
If you want something that still had an admin panel, and floating laptop sleeve, and a lot of interior space I’d look at the North Face Borealis. I use this one whenever I’m gonna be taking a weekend trip, and think it could probably hold enough to last almost a week if you packed it right.
Aer backpacks seem to get a lot of good reviews but outside of the sling I have from them, which is amazing, I can’t speak on them. I will say that I will be purchasing their travel pack 3 at some point.
Great info, thanks
No problem, sorry I couldn’t really speak on your shortlist options but since you had NF and Able Carry as choices figure I’d throw my experience with both of their more popular models of backpacks.
Alpha One Niner‼️
Complete new name to me, thanks for that
I just replaced a Patagonia bag after 10 years. It’s the best backpacking system I’ve ever seen. You should watch some YouTube videos. Let’s us know what you end up getting
It's also 4 lbs. lol
My Black Ember Citadel is a solid laptop bag.
Thanks

Key Considerations for Choosing a Laptop Tote Bag:
Size and Fit: Ensure the bag fits your laptop size (most bags accommodate 13-15 inch laptops). Check the dimensions of the laptop compartment.
Material and Durability: Look for high-quality materials like nylon, leather, or canvas that can withstand daily wear and tear. Water-resistant materials are a plus for protection against spills.
Comfort and Straps: Consider padded shoulder straps or handles for comfort, especially if you’ll be carrying it for long periods. Adjustable straps can also enhance comfort.
Organization: Choose a bag with multiple compartments for better organization. Look for pockets for chargers, pens, and other accessories to keep everything tidy.
Style: Select a design that fits your personal style and professional needs. Tote bags come in various styles, from casual to more formal.
Weight: A lightweight bag is preferable, especially if you carry it frequently. Aim for a bag that balances durability with weight.
Recommendations:
Timbuk2 Luxe Tote: Known for its durability and stylish design, it features a padded laptop compartment and multiple pockets for organization.
Everlane The Day Market Tote: A minimalist design made from premium leather, it’s stylish and functional, with a padded laptop sleeve.
Targus CitySmart EVA Pro: This bag offers excellent organization with a dedicated laptop compartment, additional pockets, and a sleek design, all at a budget-friendly price.
