What Redditors are Saying

Best Laser Hair Removal Clinics

TL;DR

  • Milan Laser and LA Med Spa in Chattanooga are recommended for Middle Tennessee [1:1][1:5].
  • Laser Clinique and SEV in San Diego offer good results [2:1][2:3].
  • Park Slope Laser Aesthetic Center and Pnina Luxe Hair Removal are LGBTQ+ friendly options [3:1][3:5].

Middle Tennessee Recommendations

In Middle Tennessee, Milan Laser is praised for its effectiveness and trans-friendly environment [1:3]. However, users note that it lacks locations in the south [1:1]. Another option is LA Med Spa in Chattanooga, which offers competitive pricing and effective treatments [1:5]. It's important to consider the type of laser used, with Alexandrite lasers being recommended for light skin [1:7].

San Diego Options

Laser Clinique in San Diego is noted for its powerful Alexandrite machines suitable for light skin and dark hair [2:1]. Despite higher prices, users report promising results. SEV offers affordable packages via Groupon [2:3], while The Laser Cafe in Hillcrest is another option [2:4]. Users suggest researching the best laser type for your skin and hair before committing.

LGBTQ+ Friendly Clinics

For LGBTQ+ friendly clinics, Park Slope Laser Aesthetic Center has positive reviews from trans individuals [3:1]. Pnina Luxe Hair Removal offers both laser and electrolysis and is known for excellent service [3:5]. Uncle Nats in Brooklyn is also recommended for its welcoming atmosphere [3:7].

Pricing and Quality Considerations

Pricing varies widely among clinics, with some offering very affordable rates like Laser Clinic Canada [5:1] and GoLazer on Eglinton [5:3]. However, it's crucial to verify the certification of the machines used [5:2]. Avoid clinics with poor reputations or those using unsuitable laser types for your skin tone [5:5][5:7]. Always check for consistent staffing and customer care [5:6].

Additional Tips

When choosing a clinic, consider factors such as location convenience, the type of laser technology used, and the clinic's reputation for customer service. It may be beneficial to visit multiple clinics for consultations and ask detailed questions about their equipment and procedures.

ORIGINAL POST

I'm not lacking in choices. Middle Tennessee has TONS of them. Reviews for all these places is all over the place, not much on google reviews to go on, groupon review for the few places that do that aren't much better. There are tons of reviews, but they are all over the place. 5 stars cus it worked, 0 stars cus it didn't work but that can happen or was it bad settings or bad techs? Always a few reviews of shady practices for every one of these places...

If it's not review issues, it's pricing. Of course I can go to Ideal Image, they have the best chance of doing what it takes to maintain their reputation and so far the only place with a warranty system. The price is crazy high though in comparison.

If it's not that it terrible hours. or lack of good info, or not seeming too trans friendly, or something else.

I guess I'm just venting, I really need to get this hair off my face. I can shave everything else or epilate, but my face is the problem, and I just don't have that much money... :( Maybe buy a groupon and hope it works out and if that doesn't work bite the bullet and go to ideal image and then after that doesn't work cry forever or pay zillions for electro...

Ok I'm done ranting...

I don’t know how far you are willing to drive, but LA Med Spa in Chattanooga is a good bang for your buck, I paid under $1000 for 12 sessions and The spa normally has buy three get three free a few times a year. The lady that does the zapping is very nice and the spa is very relaxing. Laser was very effective for me I’m coming down to my last few sessions and progress wise I don’t shave anymore, if anything my last seasons are just overkill.

That's awesome!

I might have to just schedule trips down there. I used to drive down to visit my Wifling when we were dating, might be fun to make a day of it.

The tech does not use IPL, she uses a combo YAG laser that if very effective. As for Chattanooga it is a interesting town, I recommend visiting the Tennessee Aquarium, and my daughter and I love going to the Chattanooga Zoo, especially in the fall during school hours when it is cooler weather and no one is there.

I just started using Milan and they seemed like the best choice for me and they seem to be very trans-friendly. I'm paying $71/mo for treatments and was very satisfied with my first one (though I've had more sessions elsewhere)

I've heard on here good things about them, but unfortunately they don't exist in TN. There has been a "coming soon" sign on the site for a while now about Chattanooga. It's a drive, but I'd do it.

Same I use Milan. Very fair for long term hair removal, downside is they have no locations in the west or south and right now I'm locked into the contract and moving to Florida.

Something to think about, consider this heavily! I met my long distance boyfriend 2 months after my laser contract started and I'm planning on permanently moving down there in probably a couple months. I've been going back and forth to do my laser every month and visit my parents in the north. In the end I'm probably going to get around 10-12 months of laser. I would have never in a million years thought I'd end up in Orlando Florida, but life just takes you places.

Ask about what kind of laser the place uses. I started with an ipl laser since it was a little cheaper, like $100 a session, but I should have started with alexandrite. If you have pretty light colored skin then you probably should go with an alexandrite laser. It can be more expensive but it's noticeably better. It's more expensive ($225 a session for me), but in the end you should need less sessions since it's more effective on light skin.

ConfusedTransThrow · 6 years ago

IPL is not laser, the name itself means intense pulsed light. It's not very effective, will take a lot of sessions and you're paying way too much for it (you might as well do it yourself since IPL devices are not so expensive).

Have you checked Yelp? I find their crowd-sourced reviews pretty reliable once you sort out the obvious shills.

As for laser, is it really cheaper than electrolysis in the long run? I can't really say, but this lady does say if you really want the ordeal to be finished go with electrolysis, preferably with someone who knows their way around painkillers such as Novocaine and techniques such as Flash. Shortened my transition by years.

emma2b · OP · 6 years ago

Almost everyone has said go laser first to save time and money, then electro to finish up any trouble spots or if you're still bothered.

Pain, time and money are the big issues with elctro I've seen. Processes taking a year or more don't seem uncommon with prices reaching five figures for some.

The other problem is around here, for whatever reason, I have no way of figuring out who knows what they're doing besides biting the bullet and wasting money.

There seems to be bad reviews for every single place, and those are usually the reviews involving hair, the rest of the reviews are usually good 5 star reviews about other things these places do, like massages, waxing, lipo and so on.

Electrolysis is expensive. I've been going for 8 months and have already passed 5 figures. Probably about halfway done. Very effective though.

So, crazy high sometimes also has a quality factor. That's really all I have to say. You often can finance laser and you get what you pay for.

Laser Clinique is great. They do a package of three sessions for $99. I did 9 sessions in total ($297) and all the hair/follicles are gone. Highly recommend if you're an ideal candidate.

Each zap feels like a pinch and it’s over in about a minute (if you’re talking armpit hair specifically). They also use cooling gel and apply pressure so you don’t notice it as much. I would say my pain tolerance isn’t great but I was able to power through it.

im a trans woman with light skin and dark hair, and i did 6 sessions of my face at Laser Clinique. They have very good, powerful Alexandrite machines that are suitable for my skin and hair type (research which type of laser is best for you!), but it was definitely on the pricier side. That said, my results have been very promising, such that after only 6 sessions, i opted to stop laser and switch to electrolysis early to finish off the remnants.

My biggest critique with them has been poor customer care. While a high cost environment with a fancy facade, it always seemed particularly impersonal when i spoke with the staff that wasn't my technician. In addition, despite specifically asking for a specific tech to do the sessions for continued care coverage, in 6 sessions, i had 4 different techs. The clinic would not call to let me know if my desired tech wasnt in, and when i drove 25m to the clinic for one of my regularly scheduled sessions, i was stopped at the front desk and told that the machine i wanted to use was being serviced. To their credit, they offered me a session with a different machine, but the entire reason i chose that clinic was for their Alexandrite Machine, not their ND Yag machine. Getting a call the day before or even an hour before, also would have been ideal. similarly, the inability to book single sessions, and ONLY get sessions in a package deal is also kind of tough, because you're paying up front for the hope that they will give you good results, instead of paying as you go.

Finally, despite my preferred name being present on my patient documents and patient profile in their computers, I would regularly get deadnamed by the front desk staff and the techs. They seem to be quite comfortable with slightly subpar service that they make up for with their excellent lasers and high customer volume. Still, if i had to do it all again, id go back to that clinic because their hair reduction results were ahead of my most optimistic expectations.

as always, though, your mileage may vary.

Laser hair removal

Posted by Even-Scientist4218 · in r/TheGirlSurvivalGuide · 3 years ago

I’m very hairy, I’ve got laser hair removal about 2017-2018 where I booked 6 sessions and my hair growth got very minimal that I’ve stopped doing it. I did it for legs, hands, underarms, and bikini area but when you book it they call it “full body”.

Two weeks ago I wanted to get a laser hair removal again especially for the bikini area so I booked a full body session thinking it’d be like what I’ve done before, the aesthetician saw that I was confused when she asked me to take all my clothes off at once then she inspected my whole body, every bit of it, then she said that she usually removes all body hair for a full body session. I said yeah let’s do it.

And it is awesome!!! I feel smooth and like how my skin feels, the hair never bothered me before but it feels great to have it all removed! I feel confident and actually enjoys being naked now, never thought that it’d boost my confidence.

$85 for a full body session plus 14 days retouch session which is basically like another session. It’s cheaper if you get a package idk why I didn’t get a package, the lady says that all clinics now do a full full body and there’s different devices.

Laser hair removal clinics

I have searched into it extensively, and I know this question has been asked quite a few times on this subreddit and I made sure to look at it.

But I need to ask again because when I go on the web and search for clinics, they're either extremely pricey or too cheap ( too good to be true ), and I just don't know which option to take.

What clinics have you all went to and what was your experience and the pricing?

Avoid Bellair Laser Clinic. Owner is legit crazy and will go after anyone with a bad review of the business, literally threatening them. They write a lot of fake reviews to bump their ratings higher. Read the bad reviews. Totally cool if someone did have a good experience, but if you have a bad experience there it just gets worse because they don’t care about fixing it.

Laser Clinics Australia and Results Laser Clinic are both great places to go. I’m pretty sure they both have sales going on at the moment, so make use of that and buy (for example 5 or so sessions of each, if you can afford it).

Since it’s once a month they may even have another sale by the time you’ve finished the first ones you’ve paid for.

In the beginning it can be a bit painful - like an elastic band slapping you. But it only lasts an instant and they have cooling wands that they use right next to the laser to cool the resulting heat

The less dense and more sparse your hair becomes it will begin to ‘hurt’ less than that.

They do recommend you shave beforehand, but if you’d like you could get a (hopefully free) consultation and show them the areas without any shaving so they know where your hair is.

And don’t worry about being nervous that they’re judging how you look or how much hair you have. They’re not. They’re professionals and they’re just there to do their job.

Plus, they do laser on buttholes so after that they’re definitely not going to care about seeing whatever it is they see lol

Right now at Results Laser these would be your prices: Lip and cheeks - $29, normal $58 Brazilian - $29.75, normally $59 (it says Brazilian and inner bottom, so they’ll get rid of any hair between your butt cheeks and around your anöös) Chest and Stomach (they have a combined combo to help make it cheaper) - $83, normally $166 If you meant snail trail when you said stomach then that would be $24, normally $46

Right now at Laser Clinics Australia these would be your prices: Lip and cheeks - $29, normally $58 Brazilian - $27.99, normally $55.99 Chest and Stomach (they have a combined combo to help make it cheaper) - $89.99, normally $179.98 If you meant snail trail when you said stomach then that would be $29.99, normally $59.98

So their prices are pretty similar at the moment.

From personal experiences I preferred Results Laser Clinic. They didn’t try to force me to buy their after care products and my hair reduction was a lot quicker with them than it was at Laser Clinics Australia. But other people will have a different opinion and experience to me.

Second laser clinics Australia, I’ve been going to them across 3 locations in Melbourne for 6 years for full Brazilian, butt crack and armpits. I simply cannot fathom how people still shave those areas when laser is quite affordable. After so many years getting it, I only go in once or twice a year for maintenance so the $40-80 a year on hair removal is absolutely worth it for me and I couldn’t live without it! I hope you love it and have a great experience - most of the girls are so friendly which makes a somewhat scary experience comfortable :-)

Most laser clinics offer free consultations so they will answer all your questions and potentially trial the laser on you if you’re a good candidate! They have some good eofy sales atm too. I’ve had I think 14 sessions in total and had incredible results. I have heard that it can take anywhere from 8-12 sessions to start noticing a big difference but I’ve had fantastic results as someone with dark brown hair. I’ve done waxing, sugaring, shaving etc and the laser was the best for me. I can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner. Each session took less than 10mins, waited 6 weeks between each session and never had an issue. Had a few stragglers that hung around but after maybe 10th session but are completely gone now. Depending on what amount of hair you have it could be painful but it gets better with each session and just feels like a rubber band snapping and repeatedly going over an area.

17 upvotes on reddit
purple_archers · OP · 2 years ago

Thanks for replying! Do you find it's permanent after your 14 sessions? Or would you just reduce the amount of times you go back (ie. Only go twice a year, ect..)? Also, do you mind sharing which company you went with? I completely understand if you're not comfortable with sharing that

Ok-Alternative4405 · 2 years ago

Yep definitely permanent for me although I dont think they can explicitly say it’s permanent because everyone experiences different results. I went with Silk laser because they guarantee their results and I liked the machine they use and I would highly recommend them. I’ll go for maintenance every year or so although I’m really not fussed as I literally only have like one or two fair hairs nothing like I used to have so I could easily shave if I cared.

4 upvotes on reddit
Silly_Western9160 · 2 years ago

My experience was very good, I have had bikini, underarms and legs done. Even though the hair on my legs wasn’t as dark as underarms and bikini the results were excellent - permanent thinning of the hair from first treatment. I now just shave what remaining hair there is, but probably had 30+ treatments over 12 years or so.

I have used a number of different clinics and there is not a lot of difference from one to another. Laser Clinics Australia is fine.

The two suggestions I have is first don’t let them upsell you with creams or treatment gels - a normal light moisturiser is all you need to treat the irritation which goes away in a day or two. The second is to ignore their suggestion to come back every four weeks or whatever, and how this ties in with the hair’s active growth cycle or something. there were times I had no regrowth at the 4 week mark so another treatment would just be a waste of money. You will know your own body better than them and I would wait until you have full growth before getting another treatment rather than trying to time it with the growth cycle, which you have no way of knowing.

You want to be freshly shaven for your treatments as the laser treats the hair follicle below the skin surface, but will burn your hair if not shaved. Some will shave for you, usually for a fee.

The hair will take about 10 days after the treatment to fall out. Do not wax or pluck in this period! You want the follicles to shrivel up and hopefully die for good and plucking will interrupt that process.

Finally, make sure you use SPF on any treated areas that see the light of day, and avoid a lot of sun exposure before and after.

I've had Brazillian and underarms done, love it! I started to see a lot less growth from the second treatment. I had about a dozen treatments regularly and now I go in 2-3x year for maintenance when I get some patchy growth.

I go to Laser Clinics as they often have sales, no complaints. It probably varies with each location though. They do need you to be freshly shaved - otherwise the laser burns the hair which hurts (and smells bad). Otherwise it's pretty painless, kind of like a hot zap or elastic band snap. Some spots around the Brazilian area can be a tad more uncomfortable, but it's over within minutes.

I definitely think it's a great long-lasting solution and the other bonus for me is no more ingrown hairs!

Please, I know it’s more expensive but for the face go to a dermatologist! Laser clinics are a dime a dozen and have staff with only basic training operating the lasers. Chances of the heat being wrong for your skin and getting hyperpigmentation is high. Not such an issue for other body parts. Dermatologists either do it themselves or have trained cosmetic nurses doing it so it’s more professional and the risks are much less. Also, they’re more likely to get you to come in at the correct time periods rather than get you to come back every four weeks which is a waste of time and money.

Also to answer your other question, you shave first but all places will offer either a free or a redeemable consultation so will explain that to you. Keep in mind when you say cheeks, laser doesn’t work in peach fuzz. Only darker hair.

Hi guys, as the title says, I’m curious to see the results of those who’s had laser sessions to get the majority of pigment removed and then followed up with saline removal to remove the yellow.

I’ve had three laser sessions. Last treatment was two years ago, and I’d like to get rid of the remaining yellow pigments (most prominent by the start of the eyebrow and the tail, but not that intense (picture makes it look more brown than yellow, which is is IRL)).

I’d like to know, how was the process after? How long for will your brows be looking crazy?

I’m a bit nervous about saline removal and scarring, but I will do my research to find someone who’s not afraid to post their saline removal results (that shows no signs of scarring).

I’ve been studying through this micro blading removal thread. The saline apparently does not do much and it has the possibility of scarring. I can barely see your yellow. I’m done with the Laser Removal and ready to get new fresh micro blading. My artist said that she could go over my yellow without any problem. That it would not show up afterwards. Yours is also in the area where Brows should be. If you decide to have them redone, that would cover it up.

How do you decide which laser removal clinic to go to?

Posted by HappyYetConfused · in r/MtF · 6 years ago

I live in a big city in Texas, and have a few options available to me as far as laser clinics go. Most of them are "med spas", which I don't really understand what that means, but there are also a few dermatologists and plastic surgeons that offer laser hair removal as well.

My gender therapist got a recommendation from an electrologist he normally sends people to, but it's one of these med spas that I'm sort of iffy about. The only training the laser technicians get are a laser hair removal technician certification, and I recently saw an ad they posted saying that they'll hire anybody and give them the training in house. The positive with them is that they would be transgender friendly, since they've received some transgender patients from my therapist/the electrologist he asked. It's probably cheaper than the other options as well.

Is it preferable to go to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon for laser hair removal? It seems like they might be more qualified to do these treatments, but they aren't explicitly transgender friendly and are probably more expensive for their expertise. There is one plastic surgeon who mentions offering transgender patients a wide variety of services, but they're one of the best cosmetic surgeons in Texas (according to their site anyway), and I'd worry about the cost of that.

I'm just wondering what your thoughts are before I ask for a consultation from any place. It might also turn out that laser isn't a good option for me, as my beard is pretty scarlet/dark red. But I'm hoping that at least some of those hairs are brown so that I can get rid of them before starting the painfully long process of electrolysis...

I spent a ton of time looking at reviews and reputation, plus how long places had been in business and that sort of thing. I called and asked questions (and also just kinda wanted to get a sense of the staff and their attitudes/personalities.) Once I settled on a place, only then did I check Groupon to see if they offered a discount package (they did.) I ended up going to one of the oldest and most-respected laser salons in town, and I've been incredibly happy with them.

EDIT: also, the place I go to has long had a great reputation with the trans community and have been nothing short of awesome when it comes to interacting with them (I've never once been misgendered or deadnamed or anything in the 13 months I've been going there.)

Going to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon will usually cost a premium vs a med spa. It really just depends on their experience. It's not really rocket science compared to other procedures you will get throughout your transition. I would just look at yelp reviews honestly and do the research and ask questions. If they answer your questions strangely or they don't know how to answer them move on to the next one :)

Personally I would see if you can talk to a couple local trans women (think going to a support group....) and get some personal recommendations. Usually you will find an affordable and reputable place that way. That's how I found my laser tech, who has 10 years of experience with trans women. Good luck

Also in TX...ATX to be specific, honestly just went to the one with the best reviews on yelp. I went there, had to fill in Health condition sheet thing and that's about it, the girl working there who pretty much runs the place on her own looked at it and went "oh, hey, you're already on spiro, congrats." or something like that.

The majority of her customers from what I've seen are trans women, so like, assuming that's not a huge outlier, I'd think almost any hair removal place should be familiar with trans people needing them.

The place also has trans flag stickers like on their door which I honestly didn't notice until my third trip, so, if you really want to be sure, you can go scout places out.

I went to a laser hair clinic; they didn't have any trained medical staff on site. They had "clinicians" who knew what they were doing, and I thought they were competent enough. It's not really a super complicated thing to do, and I think reading through positive reviews will tell you more about the staff than credentials.

I chose this option since it was the cheapest by a mile. About $60 per session (only did face), everything else was like $200 a session. I live in a relatively wealthy area and had to drive 50 miles to this place.

Best place for laser hair removal (don't want a membership)

Posted by 000610Jrt · in r/SaltLakeCity · 6 years ago

Hi Salt Lake! I'm trying to help my boyfriend find a good place to get laser hair removal done on his butt. For the record, I don't mind his hairiness but it drives him crazy and he constantly complains about the sweat and itchiness, and he has expressed desire to get laser hair removal for years. I called around a few places but a few issues:

1.) Minor issue - most places wanted to make an initial appointment to see him in person to make sure he's a good candidate for it (he is, his hair is very thick and very dark) and we're both pretty busy so I'd rather be able to buy him a gift card or something and have him be able to just go in however often. It also feels too much like dealing with a car-dealership or MLM bullshit and I'm sure they just want to upsell us or whatever - we just want laser hair removal.

2.) Bigger issue - a lot places seem to only offer monthly memberships and encourage you to take advantage of all the other shit they offer, but we're not interested in cryo fat therapy, botox, facials, etc.

Can anyone recommend a good place that would mostly fit what we're looking for? Price is not an issue but not trying to get ripped off either and we're also open to schools/students doing the work.

You could try beauty lab+ laser. They don’t have packages and sell by the session.

Cameo Beauty College! Yes, it's students. However they are supervised really well and I've always had a great experience.

Try clarity skin in Draper. My friend (Jocelyn) is a master esthetician there. I know from personal experience that it takes a few sessions which is probably why ppl are trying to talk you into a membership. I know they have package deals which work out cheaper but I believe you can just pay per session also.

I would recommend staying away from Ideal Image. They are full of high pressure sales gimmicks. Things like special pricing that you only get if you sign up during your consultation. If you don’t sign up right then it’s thousands more.

They are overpriced too even if you sign up with the discount.

I've been going to Simplicity since August and have had very good results. I'm doing a membership since I got grandfathered in at an amazing rate for the full-body package, but it's not at all required. They have several locations in the state. They almost always have a good special going on.

best laser removal clinics

Key Considerations for Choosing a Laser Hair Removal Clinic:

  1. Certification and Experience: Ensure the clinic is staffed by licensed professionals with experience in laser hair removal. Look for certifications from recognized organizations.

  2. Technology Used: Inquire about the types of lasers used. Different lasers are suited for different skin types and hair colors. Clinics using FDA-approved technology are preferable.

  3. Consultation Process: A good clinic will offer a thorough consultation to assess your skin type, hair type, and any medical history that may affect treatment.

  4. Safety Protocols: Check if the clinic follows strict safety and hygiene protocols. This includes using protective eyewear and sterilizing equipment.

  5. Reviews and Reputation: Look for online reviews and testimonials from previous clients. A clinic with a strong reputation and positive feedback is often a good choice.

  6. Cost and Packages: Compare pricing and inquire about package deals. Some clinics offer discounts for multiple sessions, which can be more economical.

Recommendation: Research local clinics and consider visiting a few for consultations. This will help you gauge their professionalism and comfort level. Popular chains like Ideal Image and LaserAway often have good reputations, but local clinics may also offer excellent services. Always prioritize safety and expertise over cost.
