TL;DR
Luxury Accommodations in Boston
Boston boasts several high-end hotels that cater to luxury seekers. The Four Seasons on Boylston Street is praised for its amazing service [3:1]. The Four Seasons Dalton offers great rooms with large windows and excellent views, along with an impressive sushi restaurant
[3:2]. The Newbury Hotel features a cozy bar/library for guests and a stunning rooftop restaurant
[3:4]. Raffles in Boston is noted for its butler service, although some guests have found it less useful than expected
[3:8].
Berkshire Area Luxury Hotels
The Berkshires in Western Massachusetts offer several luxury hotel options. Wheatleigh and Blantyre are renowned for their opulence and excellent dining experiences [4:6]. The Old Inn on the Green and The Reluctant Panther also provide upscale accommodations with hot tubs
[4:6]. Racebrook Lodge in Sheffield has a sauna and a nice restaurant, while Tourists Welcome in North Adams offers a heated pool
[4:2].
Spa Experiences
For those seeking a luxurious spa experience, Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Plymouth comes highly recommended. It offers indoor and outdoor amenities, including a hot tub and solarium, and allows guests to enjoy lunch in their spa bathrobes [2:1]. Cranwell Spa in Lenox is another option for spa services in Massachusetts
[2:4].
Additional Recommendations
If you're considering other regions, the Equinox Resort in Vermont provides great dining and easy access to skiing and hiking [4:1]. The Wentworth in New Hampshire offers private outdoor hot tubs and cozy accommodations
[4:3]. For those willing to travel further, Cliff House in Maine offers a luxurious retreat with spa services and beautiful surroundings
[2:3].
I’m planning a little getaway and looking for recommendations for the best hotel or resort with amazing spa amenities in Southern Vermont, Massachusetts, or New York. I’m particularly interested in places that have: • Saunas • Pools (bonus for indoor and outdoor options) • Relaxing resort vibes
Open to overall luxury accommodations too, even if the spa isn’t the main focus. Looking for something peaceful and rejuvenating. If you’ve stayed somewhere that left you feeling totally pampered, I’d love to hear about it!
Thanks in advance!
The Mt. Washington resort and Brettonwoods is a fancy ass combination. But you didn't list NH so you can't go.
Equinox in Manchester, VT. Not ski in/out. But a lovely time not far from Stratton
Visited recently and they have private shuttles like 5 times a day to both Bromley and Stratton!
Pretty shabby and run down if you're looking for real luxury though. There are many much higher end accommodations in Manchester.
Highly recommend the Kimpton right across the street
If price isn't a factor for you, then Long Trail House at Stratton. It's not super fancy but it checks off most of your boxes. No spa there but outdoor jacuzzis and outdoor heated pool. These are owner occupied units with full kitchens.
West Mountain Inn in Arlington, VT. More upscale B&B style, though. Hill Farm Inn looks at mountains.
It’s not mountain side, but Woodstock inn is wicked nice, and the town of Woodstock is adorable. It’s 25 minutes from Killington
This is the way
Cane here to recommend Woodstock but you beat me to it.
Hey all!
I’m looking for a hotel that offers spa services (nothing fancy, just a massage and nail manicures). I’ve been on Google, but it’s so hard to know what’s good or not. My mother is sick, and this is my last chance to do something together with her, and I want to lessen the chance of a bad time.
NH is ok too if you know any :)
So please let me know if you stayed at any! Just preferably not Boston, but I’ll look at it if it’s fantastic :)
Wife and I recently stayed at The Wentworth in Jackson, NH. Very cozy with nice spa. Dining at the hotel was great, too. We found it to be reasonably priced back in November. https://www.thewentworth.com/
We love the Wentworth. Going back right after the holidays. Highly recommend getting a private hot tub room. It's wonderful.
We got a room at Amster with the outdoor hot tub. It was perfection.
Maybe too fancy or too far, but I always enjoy Cliff House in Maine. I go when they're cheapest - usually February - and their cheapest is luckily the most I'd ever spend on a hotel. Took my mom there who has some mobility issues, it was nice to not have to go far for food/spa/nature.
Cranwell Spa in Lenox
Mirbeau in Plymouth - even in cold weather! There’s lots amenities indoor and outdoors. Restaurant, hot tub, solarium. I’ve sat outside in the hot tub or in the glass solarium in snow or sun!
My advice is book one or two services with a lunch reservation in between. You can eat lunch in your spa bathrobe, and there is so much to do that is complementary to spa guests that you can still have a full day even with one treatment. I found it a lot harder at Chatham bars Inn to do that because there aren’t many amenities after your service is done, especially in the winter.
I had ice on my beard in the jacuzzi in November at the Mirbeau. It was magical
Mirabeau in Plymouth
This. This. This. This. It’s amazing. My wife and I spent two days after our wedding since a honeymoon wasn’t in the cards due to her profession until summer. It was magical.
Truly feels like you’re pulling up to a little French chateau. Beautiful place
Hi all basically what the title says. I’m looking for recommendations for luxury Boston hotels. I’m sort of between the Mandarin Oriental and raffles as well as four seasons Dalton. I don’t really have any preferences besides wanting to be near back Bay and Newbury street.
I know raffles has butler service, but frankly don’t know if that’s a big factor for me. I would just need help booking car services but that’s about it.
If anyone has any recommendations or opinions, please let me know :-)
newbury has some nice spaces. Rooftop restaurant is great and bar/library for guests is very cozy. Rooms so so. Four seasons dalton great rooms with big windows and views and quiet! sushi restaurant is part of a chain but excellent.
both locations are great for walking or taking the T anywhere
Rooftop at Newbury is gorgeous! Have not eaten there, but had drinks one night and loved it.
I stayed at one dalton recently (and scored an epic upgrade and cookie plate thanks to Alex!) the spa was great, unbearable location and good food
Woo yay! So glad you had fun and enjoyed the upgrade! Feel free to drop a super quick review if you can. We recently got one from FS Boylston but would love to round it out with your experience at Dalton since people often compare / contrast which they should do!!
I just got back as well and will get a review up in the next day or so.
Raffles butler was not that useful AND they really made us wait for our room even though we tried to check in at 3
Very nice hotel, but same experience with butlers and the front door people have an air of dgaf
Haven't stayed there, but i would lean to the Raffles as its a new hotel, and they appear to be really ontop of things service wise. Mandarin seems a bit outdated at this point.
Four seasons Boylston is lovely and amazing service.
Looking for a February getaway (not Valentine’s Day!) at a fancy schmancy hotel with excellent dining and hopefully a hot tub. Any recommendations?
Thinking along the lines of Wheatleigh, Blantyre, The Old Inn on the Green, or the Reluctant Panther.
Racebrook Lodge in Sheffield MA may not be as luxury as you're seeking but they have a sauna and nice restaurant on site, and great hiking right off the property. Gedney Farm is right around corner from Old Inn on Green and has great dining (not sure about hot tub). You could also try Tourists Welcome in North Adams, which has a heated pool I believe and a restaurant on site.
Happy to provide food and hiking recs if you come to the Berkshires!
Thank you so much! I haven’t spent much time in the Berkshires, which is really silly since i live in Northampton. the Berkshires are a priority for me this year!
Well NoHo is a great spot too...a lot of reasons to stay out there!
Private outdoor hot tubs (not just jetted tubs in the bathroom) at the Wentworth in NH: https://www.thewentworth.com/accommodations/rooms/arden-sunnyside-hot-tub/
Hotel Northampton is beautiful.
Wheatleigh, Blantyre, The Old Inn on the Green, or the Reluctant Panther.
You think you’re pretty clever huh?
The Equinox Resort. Great dining at the resort (and plenty more in the town of Manchester). Easy access to skiing and hiking. Lots of shopping in the area if that's your thing. And they do have hot tubs.
i live in the city and i’m planning a chill spring break vacation that’s covid friendly. don’t want to go on a plane or travel too far either. can anyone recommend a spot in mass that can be reached by car that’s also fairly affordable?
Western Mass. Last spring my wife and I went to The Norman Rockwell Museum, The Mass MOCA, and spent two days in North Hampton. It was cheap, the scenery was beautiful, and it was close.
HIGHLY recommend Mass MOCA. One of my favorite places to go. So many cool things in the Berkshires too!
I love Western MA, particularly the area around Williamstown/North Adams. If you’re interested in art, the MassMoCA can’t be missed, and there are lots of interesting natural areas around there, plus the Berkshires are beautiful.
Portland Maine, airbnbs are reasonable and it’s a fun spot to bounce around.
South Portland is even cheaper for hotels. Quick drive to Portland for all the great restaurants.
You could do a getaway midweek. It’s a tiny house cabin in the NH area.
The Mohawk Trail through the Berkshires is a good bet. I actually stayed in the Berkshires last spring and it was affordable and got some really good and quiet hikes in because people in MA don't seem to go hiking in early spring. The cape will be grey and closed in March, the islands are not affordable.
The vineyard is very affordable right before or after the season starts.
Debating about a few hotel options in Boston for an upcoming trip. We seem to be going on a packed weekend, so the MO and FS properties are in the $1200 range, while the Boston Harbor Hotel, Langham, and Ritz Carleton are around $600, and Intercontinental is around $450. Any thoughts on the Boston Harbor and whether it’s still top notch? Do any of the four stars more basic hotels around offer more luxury?
Just came back from a weekend at the Boston Harbor Hotel - absolutely stunning views and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming
How did the rooms feel? Luxurious or dated?
We stayed there last April. It’s ok. Nothing special. Limited on site dining options. Bathrooms are small even at the suite level. I would try a different hotel. It’s not a good value for the price.
Thanks for the input. Do you think Langham, MO, or FS Boston are better value?
I live in Back Bay in Boston and recommend the BHH if waterfront is important to you. Lovely views and they do keep up the property well.
If not, I would go with Raffles (great location in back bay) followed by Langham (financial district, a few blocks from waterfront) and the two 4S. For 4S - which depends on the vibe you're looking for and location.
The original 4S was recently renovated and has a lovely location at the public garden.
The newer 4S is a skyscraper - modern and very different vibe. Located in Back Bay - def good location but less desirable then Raffles.
Happy to answer any questions.
I could not say. I have not stayed at those properties.
Its been our first choice for 5-6 years now.
Wonderful location: we usually take Amtrak - 2 blocks from South Station. Subways are right there as well.
Get a room overlooking the harbor. Just beautiful. Sometimes you can see the planes landing at Logan. There is also a room with a large balcony which is also great, especially having breakfast their.
The rooms are beautiful! Wonderful staff, extremely quite, beautiful bathrooms and the rooms are a nice size. Ferries from LOG drop you off right into the hotel. Pretty cool.
The only thing they don't have is an upscale restaurant, like the MO. The Dark Bar is beautiful and Rowes Wharf Sea Grille is fine all day.
If the Boston Harbor is full, the MO is our second choice.
That sounds lovely. We had a stay at the hotel about 8 years ago but weren’t sure it has kept its luster. Sounds like a yes, and the water taxi to the hotel from Logan is intriguing! Thanks for the input
I agree with this comment. I’m New England based and Boston hotels are often disappointing at best. Harbor is fairly recently renovated and has some great amenities/good location/etc.
It’s certainly not raffles, but it’s a solid option.
Outstanding hotel
For the price, I'd pick Langham. The rooms are much nicer, if that matters to you.
We do like a nice room!
Where is the place in Boston where I can see luxurious hotels, most expensive cars (lambo, bugatti, bentley, mclaren etc.), villas.
Newbury St in the spring and summer, and the Seaport area for flashy cars and hotels
best answer
This is new england, it's just not that showy
If you want shopping, newberry st though
Villas? This is Boston. We have brownstones.
Rodeo drive is like that because money talks and wealth whispers. Boston is old money were not very flashy. Go to Nantucket or MV and some of the most expensive houses have basic range rovers or even just newer toyotas in the driveways. I think the last time I saw a huge amount of extremely expensive sports car in Boston was when the goldRush rally came to boston a few years back.
There are always some international students at BU that get crazy expensive cars.
That's the first time I've heard that saying and it's wildly accurate.
Boston isn’t really about “flash”. The rich people here don’t show it off, but Beacon Hill is a very pricy neighborhood. Seconding Newbury Street.
Old money in Boston is like LL Bean boots, a fancy dog and a Volvo with Beacon Hill parking stickers going back to the 90’s

Lots of stuff, I miss my state. Walking around the backstreets of Cambridge is cool..but try not to sprain your ankle. The Butterfly Place in Chelmsford. If ya haven't seen the cliffs on Martha's Vineyard in Aquinna, hurry up.
Take a nice walk in the woods.
Seriously. We have some absolutely stunning forest and thankfully we’ve managed to hold of the worst of the invasive species in many areas unlike the Midwest and southern central US which being overrun rapidly.
jerk off
Clam chowder after idk
That's the "secret ingredient" of the clam chowdah at Faneuil Hall.
Start a revolution
Go to the native plant botanical garden (Garden in The Woods) in Framingham, especially in late May/June when the native azaleas and mountain laurel are in full bloom. It’s really inspiring to see what can be done with native plants here in the Northeast.
I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Boston for one night with my fiancée to celebrate 5 years of dating and wow did the hotel provide. I booked a king bed corner room with GOH award. Contacted the hotel and informed them that we were celebrating and they upgraded us to the presidential suite. The hotel was very beautiful, solid breakfast with great service, they provided us with 4 drink tickets since our room was ready an hour after check in, and the room was beautiful. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The hotel also provided us with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We’ll definitely be returning.
Wow, that's beautiful. Maybe one day I'll get a sick upgrade like that.
Combining the GOH award with emailing the hotel when you’re celebrating a big occasion is helpful. Highly recommend if you get the opportunity to do that. I hope you get this type of upgrade too!
Yeah, I'm usually booking under the employee rate, so I'm last on the list for an upgrade unless it's a super slow week. Totally understand though, we gotta take care of our guests. I'm also only an Explorist.
What do you say in the email? Do you say "hey I'm celebrating something, can y'all give us something sweet??"
We've stayed at this hotel a couple of times. The service here was always top-notch.
Our last stay had that exact view but several floors down.
Nice!
That is a lot of towels
I stayed at this hotel as an explorist and I loved it. The hotel is clean, modern and has great staff. I was there on a sold out night so no upgrades sadly. But that suite looks amazing!

Where in CT is the wedding?
Ocean House, Chanler Hotel, Mirbeau Plymouth
Ocean House is RI
Chanier Hotel is RI
Mirbeau Plymouth is MA
What’s in CT?
Hartford area. That's as much as I know.
Well, you aren’t near it, but my favorite spot maybe anywhere in New England is the Flume in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. And the (even more inconvenient to CT) coast of Maine.
I’m actually headed up to the white mountains from the coast of CT next month. Just googled this place and:
It looks amazing
It’s only 20 minutes from our AirBnb.
Thanks for the suggestion!!
It’s truly breathtaking. Have a great trip!
Boston.
Or Providence. There’s so much to do and see in New England, but Connecticut isn’t the best hub for seeing most of it.
What is the name of that seafood buffet
Ooo lots of options…
I’ll get started with the obvious one: Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, and all of the shops around the aquarium.
For food, if you want some classic (ish) New England seafood… I can recommend Lenny and Joe’s. If you want something perhaps slightly more upscale (but not crazy over the top), Old Saybrook Inn has a decent restaurant right on the ocean.
There is also the Essex Steam Train and Gillette Castle nearby. Both are lots of fun but admittedly kinda touristy. If you’re looking for a cool day hike, Devil’s Hopyard is a favorite of mine. That’s slightly more inland, but not crazy far from the shore.
If you want to go for a boat ride, there are numerous ferries that run from southern Connecticut & Rhode Island to Long Island, Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island, etc.
I could come up with more, especially if I go to other places in New England (Cape Cod, for example) but there’s a few random choices around southern Connecticut.
Well New Haven has the best pizza in America. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana 📍 Modern Apizza 📍 Sally's Apizza If you are going to the ocean house watch hill? They have a great view and awesome beach to walk on that will give you a classic New England feel Mystic is a great visit. https://mysticseaport.org. This is an 18th century whaling village.
