TL;DR
Tulsa's Luxury Options
For those seeking luxury accommodations in Oklahoma, Tulsa offers some notable options. The Mayo Hotel and the Ambassador Hotel are frequently mentioned as top choices. They offer upscale amenities and a sophisticated atmosphere, making them ideal for a luxurious stay [1:2]. While balconies may not be common, these hotels provide excellent service and comfort.
Hyatt Regency Tulsa/Downtown
The Hyatt Regency Tulsa/Downtown is another standout option for luxury seekers. It is celebrated for its attentive staff and high-quality service, often compared favorably to other renowned hotels across the country [3:3]. Guests have noted the convenience of its location and the quality of its on-site restaurant
[3:1]. This hotel is particularly appreciated by frequent travelers who value consistent and exceptional customer service
[3].
Considerations for Specific Amenities
While searching for luxury hotels, it's important to consider specific amenities that might enhance your stay. Some guests prioritize features like rooftop terraces or unique views, which can be found at certain properties like the ALoft in OKC and Hotel Indigo in Tulsa [1:3]. However, if room service and private patios are essential, you might need to look beyond typical city hotels to resorts such as Candlewyck Cove Resort on Grand Lake, although they lack traditional room service
[1:2].
Additional Recommendations
If you're willing to travel slightly outside Oklahoma, Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa in Branson, MO, was suggested for its beautiful views and dining options [1:1]. Expanding your search radius could open up more possibilities for luxury experiences tailored to your preferences.
Looking for a great balcony view. It needs to be attached to a good hotel room with a good restaurant (room service). I want to .celebrate 60 years of marrage with my bride.
I want to take a weekend and enjoy the beauty, relax, and be spoiled.
It's the balcony that's tricky - not a common feature of architecture in the vicinity of OKC.
If you can forego that, take a look at the Mayo or the Ambassador in Tulsa.
The king suites at the Candlewyck Cove Resort on Grand Lake come with a private patio or deck, but room service isn't a thing there as is generally the case with the state's resorts.
If you can expand your range to under 400 miles, check out Austin (the Driskell has balcony rooms, for instance) or Kansas City (the 21c Museum hotel's 21c Suite has a private rooftop deck).
If you meant to include OKC itself in your range, the Waterford has rooms with balconies. No room service but you can order in from local restaurants.
I stayed at the ALoft in OKC many years ago, no balconies, but they have a rooftop terrace and you can order drinks up there and the view was great. Similarly, in Tulsa, the new Hotel Indigo has a great view of downtown on its rooftop. Or Mayo hotel.
BWP in Stillwater has rooms that overlook Boone Pickens Stadium… hidden gem
I don’t have any recommendations but I want to wish you both a very happy 60th anniversary!
Maybe check out Chateau on the Lake Resort & Spa in Branson, MO. It’s just over 300 miles from OKC, they have rooms with a nice view, balcony and dining options. I haven’t been to this hotel but it seems to have good reviews. The Ozarks look beautiful. I’ll be traveling to the Ozarks for the first time this fall.
Congratulations! So, what type of view are you newlyweds wanting, urban/city or nature? I might not be able to help, but hopefully that info will aid the person who can.
We’re planning to come back up and visit family after moving away a few years ago. What is the nicest hotel in the valley, preferably in Logan? My husband is very picky about hotels, he likes a more luxurious feel and isn’t worried about cost. Any recommendations?
I like Townplace Suites. Decent Marriott property, newer and better than the Springhill next door, IMHO.
Surprisingly, the Inn at USU is pretty nice too.
Other than that - maybe that Center Street Inn? I've never been there, but it has "theme" rooms. It's also been around for a while.
If you're referencing Anniversary Inn, very nice themed rooms for couples.
I've only stayed at the Inn at USU once but it was not that nice.
they gutted it and renovated the whole thing within the past year or so
The flats luxury suites
Spring Hill suites
No luxury. Best are two Marriotts
Agree, these are the best in town.
Anniversary inn /s
I love this hotel. 2nd time here. Parking comped. Incidentals only $50 instead of $50 a night. Yes I’m a globalist and I get it but still. They might have the best customer service I’ve experienced outside of the Regency San Antonio Riverwalk and The Regency Boston/Cambridge
Just a little rant. Take care
Good to know there are diamonds like that in that part of Oklahoma.
Yeah I was actually going to say this hotel is the best thing about Tulsa which I do believe but people here are nice and I didn’t want to be a jerk.
Not being a jerk if you're telling the truth. Tulsa is a pretty terrible city by almost any metric.
Their staff is so attentive! They always leave us a welcome bag, they have a club with snacks, and we’ve always gotten an upgrade at check in as globalist (even up to their very premium suites, more than once).
I get into my room. A thank you card. Water, Gatorades, snacks not to mention I’m on the 15th floor where the club is. I usually buy groceries but I’m only here for 4 nights with two hospitals to service then I’m heading home to get ready for two weeks in Georgia. This hotel just has a level of service that I’m ghetto ass kind of feels out of place with because I’m the type to clean up after myself and I don’t like bothering people but I’m going to is it enjoy my time here like the last time
Can you say more about the HR Riverwalk? Were you upgraded to a river view? How was the hotel in general?
My wife for her birthday. I dropped her off and helped her and her friend to their adjoining suites…yeah they gave her two suites River view. I saw the rooms and 8.5/10 easily. It’s a beautiful hotel and is very affordable at certain times. Around Fiesta or the Rodeo and or NCAA Tournaments, large conferences and so on not so much. Basically late winter and late summer are the best times to visit
Thanks!
I also like this hotel! It just works, not noisy, AC and water pressure perfect and a good nights sleep.
Near perfect. 9/10 for me. This is my 2nd stay. First time was 2 nights. I get 4 this time and more if I need to extend this assignment but I need those 3 days off I’m exhausted lol
I stay there about 6 times a year or so. The rooms could use a remodel. Otherwise, I do like the hotel.
The on-site restaurant is pretty good. It is a very convenient location (it helps Tulsa is small). Employees have always been very friendly.
Visiting South Dakota for the first time and would like to spoil myself a bit. What hotels would you recommend?
There aren't really any hotels I would describe as 'luxury' around here (not like what you would find in a much bigger city). Closest would probably be the Alex Johnson, just because it's the most famous and actually has different named suite types.
thank you
Make sure to book a king and request it in a corner room. The bathrooms can be small on their smaller-bed rooms
there's a brand new hyatt in downtown rapid, otherwise something like one of the resorts in deadwood or keystone might be nice (i cant speak from experience as I have never needed a hotel since I lived there)
one thing i can say with experience is that hart ranch has some nice little cabins
wonderful, thank you
None of the hotels in Keystone or Hill City are “luxury”
Alex Johnson will be your best option.
Alex Johnson is a Curio Collection Hilton. I've never stayed there but my spouse is a big Hilton and Marriott guy with his full-time travel job and Curio means something to him when we travel. The bar and restaurant on the roof are quite good and you get access for free as a guest. Beyond that, we have your pretty straightforward chains around here. Nothing really with a spa or killer pool or anything.
i work there, we also have valet!
thank you
There's some luxury suites at the Deadwood Mountain Grand but they ain't cheap, especially if it's an event weekend.
Not sure it qualified as luxury but it is the nicest you can probably get- Alex Johnson! Just stayed there over the weekend. Fantastic staff, a beautiful historic property and you're in the middle of everything to do downtown. Has a nice rooftop bar, Irish pub in the building and a Starbucks. Would stay again.
Serious props to the team at The Ritz Carlton Kyoto. This team is amazing and the hotel is immaculate. The staff makes you feel truly valued and it is the very height of a Luxury Hotel. Furthermore an amazing upgraded room and free breakfast for platinum and higher. And the breakfast is amazing. Both a western and Japanese option. The team went out of their way to help us celebrate our anniversary trip. What makes it more unbelievable is that our stay is 100% redemption. Value for points is out of this world, couldn’t be happier.
What room did they put you in?
The Ritz Carlton Kyoto is definitely one of my favorite hotels. The service is just so incredible. I do think the rooms are beginning to show signs of needing renovations, particularly when compared to newer hotels like the Park Hyatt Kyoto and Hotel the Mitsui. However, the service at this Ritz Carlton is so far ahead of both of those hotels that the weaker hard product becomes much more justifiable.
Glad to hear they’re still doing a great job!
Stayed there for 2 nights after Park Hyatt Kyoto. Got an upgrade to a Garden Terrace Suite. Good use of my last 200k Marriott points...
Definitely a top 10 upgrade I've had across Marriott / SPG
Im going to the hotel Mitsui in the fall and wanted to ask what you mean by service being so far better at the ritz. Japan on its own is known for great service and attention to detail. What was it specifically that stood out for you?
We stayed at the Mitsui and loved it. Staff remembered our names and every night after turndown, we received a new treat such as local lip balm, sage, coconut cookies, etc. Also, we received a suite upgrade without any NUA's applied.
They upgraded us to the garden view on the 2nd floor. It’s A lovely room and honestly I think it’s in just fine repair. Modern and elegant.
This is one of the best breakfasts free for platinums or higher. I loved the buffet while my wife loved the Japanese breakfast and when we told them this, they allowed us to eat at the buffet and bring the Japanese breakfast to my wife on the last day of our stay. Super awesome! The only thing I didn’t like was our room faced the cemetery. I guess it makes for quiet neighbors.
The hard product at the Ritz Carlton Kyoto are a bit old and the property is a little tired compared to other hotels at this price point. However, the soft product is best-in-class, even for a city with a strong service culture like Kyoto.
I would pay the cash rates for this hotel if you’re looking for the a top tier luxury experience in Kyoto. For people that don’t care as much about luxury, there are definitely better options available.
I would pay the cash price for a vacation. More so now that I see what you get for the money. The quality and service isn’t something they put in pictures on the website. The staff is truly excellent.
We stayed there last year for like 5 days and it was amazing. The service was just impeccable and we got a view of the river. I would definitely stay there again!
Oh yeah but it was too expensive for me. I went to the Moxy instead. 😂😅
It’s my all time favorite Marriott property, blown away. The attention to detail regarding design was almost molecular, and the service was on the same level. The only hotel that had a similar level of service was the Conrad Hilton Tokyo. I plan to return here someday 🥹.
I’ve stayed at the Conrad Tokyo and it was a truly spectacular experience. It blew us away back then and probably still would. We had a great room for plane watching.
Hello wonderful people of OK! Me and my family are visiting in March and I am wondering if the best hotels to stay in for our visit that aren’t too pricey! We have a budget of about £900 and want to know what we can get for this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated as a first tome traveller to the US!
Boutique: The Bradford House (very cute, great restaurant and bar inside) or The Ellison (both may be too expensive?) or the Classen Inn Motel (retro drive-up motel, very inexpensive)
Downtown & trendy: The Ambassador or 21C (both have great restaurants in them) Downtown & more classic: The Colcord or The Skirvin
other less expensive options that are still decent: Sheraton downtown, Hilton garden Inn, Wyndham Grand, Holiday Inn express Bricktown
All of these are in trendy areas.
Thank you for these wonderful recommendations! Sadly they are all a lot of our budget. I have found a hotel called Candlewood Suites in Bricktown, do you have any experience with this one? Thanks again!
I highly recommend The Ambassador! Bradford House is lovely, but the area isn’t very walkable so if you’re not going to be renting a car there’s a street car stop right by Ambassador and it’s in a very walkable area.
I got engaged at the 21C. They recently remodeled and changed up the restaurant, so I can't comment on it, but the hotel was great and art is really cool.
The Bradford House would be a really neat place to stay
Bricktown is pretty touristy, by the way. You should check it out, but also check out the Plaza District (boutiques, art, bars, and restaurants) the Paseo (art galleries, bars, restaurants), Capitol Hill (for a Latino Main Street experience), Midtown (McNellies, Fassler Hall, breweries) Auto Alley (which is very close to Bricktown), Uptown 23rd, Campus Corner in Norman (for a real U.S. college town feel), Stockyards City (for a look into the old west history of the city), the Oklahoma History Center, the Western Heritage Museum, the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial, Chisholm Creek.
OKC is a car city.
The public transportation in OKC is pretty bad, Brick Town is our major tourist and entertainment district. if you are staying near brick town you can use the OKC street car. It covers most of the major tourist/entertainment areas in OKC.
We have bus service that covers a lot of area but it can be a bit slow. It also doesn't connect to the airport. Be prepared to take taxi/Uber. Some h inotels run a shuttle/van to the airport cant hurt to ask.
Edit our liquor and drinking laws can be a bit old fashioned. Short answer: 21 to drink, bars stop serving at 2 am. Don't drink in public.
The Omni Hotel is really close to a streetcar stop
They can always Uber if they don't have a rental car.
Don't miss the First Americans Museum. It's new and has excellent exhibits of indigenous people of the US, many of whom ended up here.
How long are you staying? Are you planning on visiting anything in particular while you're here?
My wife and I took our daughter to stay at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa Downtown for her 13th birthday. When we got to our room, the door to an adjoining hospitality suite was open. They did this for her. Truly the best upgrade ever.
The staff at HR Tulsa is top notch!! The property itself is a little dated but the welcome bag, customer service, upgrades we’ve gotten, all make it a fabulous stay.
Ok THAT'S amazing. Love to see it, props to the Tulsa Regency!
Hilarious. I stay at this hotel often. Did your room have a Grand Piano? I’ve been upgraded to that one a few times and it’s a comically large room. That said, I love that hotel.
That’s awesome. Well done HR Tulsa!
Love the Tulsa Regency, staff is great. Restaurant menu is really good as well.
Hi all,
I'm traveling to Oklahoma City soon, and I will need to stay downtown for a week. I'm between a few options. The top two contenders seem to be The Skirvin and The National / Autograph (not sure how it's stylized). Which of those two would be a better experience? (FWIW I'm Hilton and Marriott honors "Gold.") Am I missing any good other spots?
The National would be more of an experience in my opinion. On-site restaurants, shopping, Blow Bar, Nail salon, Barber, etc.
Their restaurant “Teller’s” inside feature 50ft tall marble ceilings accompanied by ornately engraved marble pillars and murals.
I work at Visit OKC and we send most of our travel writers there.
Also Stock and Bond is an amazing steak house!
The most Oklahoma thing ever is opening a hotel with 2 steakhouses.
Edit: Looks like Teller’s changed from Italian Steakhouse to just Italian.
Seconding Stock and Bond. Excellent food and a very impressive bourbon selection.
The Colcord right downtown is a Curio hotel in the Hilton brand and is great, easy access to everything walking.
Upvoting this. Good amenities, upscale, great location.
Definitely do colcord. It’s consistently good and not in the same sort of demand.
I carry mail for both. The Skirvin is real old school and swanky PLUS it's connected to the underground tunnels that go around downtown OKC (the Concourse). The National is currently overrun with Hollywood types because they're shooting for the new Twister movie.
Skirvin v. National I'd go Skirvin rn. The Colcord is amazing also, I just know nothing about it.
If you wanted something odd and cool, 21c is sweet! The museum aspect is underrated and the restaurant they have there smacks.
The Skirvin is the most run down hotel in the central business district. What are you talking about? Maybe after they remodel it would be worth the stay. Right now The National, Colcord, Ambassador, 21C, and Omni are all significantly nicer offerings in the same general area. I work in the industry and have seen many of their rooms recently.
I traveled to OKC for work 6-8 times a year for nearly 10 years. I tried most of the downtown hotels. Skirvin all day. It's historic. It's a top Hilton property. Very well-staffed and maintained. Strong breakfast buffet. Swanky bar. Celebrities stay there, including visiting pro athletic teams, and concert performers. It's highly accessible from the center of the city to anywhere else you want Uber or Lyft to take you. Many top restaurants and sites are walkable. Also, I highly recommend you try Ludivine, RedPrime, and MahoganyPrime, three of the best restaurants in the country, not just OKC.
Stayed at the Ritz Carlton Bangalore this week. Absolutely wonderful property. Rooms were great and the staff was phenomenal. Can’t wait to go back later this year.
While all the wood in the room is classic and beautiful, the decor (furnishings and art) in the living room are like taking a time machine back to 2008 and an airport hotel.
Yeah, it's like a movie set from an early 2000's sitcom but I love the walk in closets! I love having a real closet to put away my clothes on longer trips.
I like that closet too. My only issue is the furnishings and art in the living room. It's beyond dated. And it even wasn't that nice back in the day.
I need better hotels where I travel. My last two "gifts" were two bottles of water (and a Generic Ambassador photo copied note with my name scribbled on it!), and second hotel: a set of 4 very nice chocolate balls.
What was the nightly rate?
I paid somewhere around $320 a night
That’s some tired inventory
Love this place! Still use my personalized RC mugs from my last visit. It was a set of two, one for misses and one for me. And still got a whole bunch of other RC stuff before we left. This is definitely my favorite gift I've gotten at a Marriott so far.
Just left the Waldorf Astoria in Amsterdam, absolutely magical stay! It was our 5th time staying at the property, and it’s still as amazing as the first time.
I booked 5 nights for 440,000 points (last year) as a Lifetime Diamond. Let them know we were celebrating my 40th birthday, got upgraded to a King Grand Premier Canal view. The best part is we were welcomed in at 9am and checked into our room at 9:30am. (Nothing like a shower, post flight across the pond.)
Breakfast every morning was absolutely insane. It used to be more of a buffet, now it’s more of a menu based service. However, you can pick any dish and the breakfast tower if you want. Fresh OJ, Green drinks, coffee all included. Usually tipped €5-€10
Housekeeping was constant and the room was always beautiful, smelled great (choose your own scent) and tons of waters.
We also enjoyed the Spa one afternoon, and Diamonds get 30 minutes of free treatment, so we snagged that 90 minute massage!
If you’re wondering where to drop 500,000 points, this is the place. Hands down my favorite property in the world.
Makes all those nights in shitty Hampton Inns worth it!
Did this last year. Omg such a wonderful stay and breakfast as you said was superb. However, I did not know Diamonds got 30 free mins! I will say the wife and I had the entire pool and amenities to ourselves one rainy Friday afternoon. Such a surreal experience.
Score! That’s amazing. I thought we were also alone in the spa so as I entered the steam room, I walked straight and almost ran into a woman because it was so steamy. 😂😂.
Yeah, we just let them know that we were Diamond and they ended up just charging us for a 60 minute massage Super easy!
100% concur. We stayed there for nine nights last month and thought we were at the White Lotus. Absolute tops in every way and every aspect; every staff member was amazing.
One of my favorite properties in the world! With an incredible staff to match
The staff is unreal!! They should create a Hilton hospitality training program taught by this crew 😂
We were there 5 nights last year! Magical experience best Waldorf so far!
Splurging on a week at a nice property certainly makes those lonely nights in Hamptons worth it. Kudos to you. We are checking out the Conrad Arzana in Rabat, Morocco this summer for our honeymoon. We cannot wait as we have read nothing but positive reviews. 70k a night, too! Score!
