TL;DR
Video Players for Web Publishers
For web publishers looking to monetize video content, several platforms offer promising solutions. Playwire and Connatix are popular choices, but users have also recommended Vidazoo for higher revenue potential [1:2]. http://Brid.TV is another versatile platform that provides features similar to Connatix and offers Google ADX demand
[1:3]. Primis is praised for its performance, especially on AMP pages, and offers granular reporting
[1:5].
Alternative Video Hosting Platforms
If you're seeking alternatives to YouTube for video hosting and monetization, Vimeo is a strong contender [3:1]. It allows creators to host and monetize their videos with fewer copyright concerns compared to other platforms
[3:2]. Twitch is another option, particularly for streaming sports highlights and shows
[3:3]. Rumble is mentioned as a viable choice for video monetization outside of traditional platforms
[3:5].
Video Marketing Platforms
For those focused on video marketing and engagement, platforms like GUDSHO offer built-in tools for video editing, social media management, lead captures, and analytics [4:1]. Vidyard is noted for its sales and marketing capabilities, allowing personalization, CTAs, and CRM integration
[4:2]. Loom, while not a traditional marketing platform, is useful for direct outreach and explainer content
[4:2].
Comprehensive Guides and Resources
Several discussions mention guides that compile top platforms for content monetization. These guides typically cover key features, ideal users, and pros and cons to help creators choose the right platform [2]
[5]. While specific details of these guides were not shared in the threads, they indicate a growing interest in comprehensive resources for monetizing content across various mediums.
I'm wondering what are the top video players for video monetizations out there for web publishers?
Me personally, I have tried Playwire, and Connatix. Have hard about Primis, but no more. Would love to know about your experiences.
You should try Vidazoo. We've worked with them for 2 years now and tried a few of their solutions. The revenue is substantially higher than any other solution we tried. We worked with a few others before.
People in the thread already made some great points and suggestions. You'll need to test a few players to see which one fits best. Another good option nobody mention yet is Brid.TV. This platform provides with a versatile platform and player with features similar to Connatix and also offers Google ADX demand if you sign up to their marketplace. Good luck testing!
Monetizing video well has eluded me and we have some high-value video content. I make more on the 300x250 banner ad next to my player than I do from programmatic video.
Whoever you are using must be doing it wrong or there is a catch with your content you are missing. You should be monetizing one video unit at a min of $6-7 RPM on a "decent" site with US traffic. You wouldn't be doing that with a single 300x250 banner regardless of refresh unless you are direct selling display at high cpms.
I run AdX video from my own AdX. Fill rate sucks. 100% US traffic most of it in Texas. CPM is in the 5-10 dollar range.
Prior I ran brid.tv marketplace. They want 33% of around 4.50 cpm. Fill rate still low.
I do have a ton of directly sold video ads.
We run a bunch of high quality video news stories
just one 300x250 banner is making higher than 1 instream/pre-roll ads ?
You are doing something wrong. It is not possible that any display banner performs better than a well setup instream ad unit. Let us provide you VAST tags and guidance. Please pm.
I've tested and/or run most of them. IMO if you are wanting to do article slideshows/content recirc (not true pre-roll), Ex.co is probably your best bet and if you want to run actual pre-roll with either your video content or syndicated, Primis has the best all around unit and performance (especially for AMP pages). They also have the most granular reporting and pay NET15 which is a plus. Connatix article slideshow unit is similar to Ex.co, but not as good and they have short-paid multiple pubs I've talked to. Minute Media, Avantis, Distroscale, were all underwhelming performance-wise and their reporting ranges from not good to terrible. Also, it's important to make the distinction of whether the vendor is going to be monetizing with pre-roll or are they going to need to utilize multiple mid-rolls to boost your RPM. Mid-rolls are terrible for UX and at the point that you interrupt the video content to run them, you are basically just showing ads. In an optimial situation you will have your vendor running their demand (hopefully with a good amount of agency spend) and run placements from your SSPs alongside it to drive up rates. If you have a good set up, you shouldn't need to run multiple ads per content segment.
The best video player for web publishers is the one that works well for you. :)
We run a myriad of these things for our clients, and sometimes one is performing well, other times its not. Everything in Programmatic depends on the audience you have, and every audience is different.
Best advice is to try a bunch of them. Add Distroscale, Primis, Video Intelligence, Ex.co, etc. Run clean A/B tests or simply pick clean parts of the month to run a test. Give each one two weeks and see what performs the best on your site!
Hi, fellow entrepreneurs!
Over the past year, I’ve been researching tools and platforms that help creators monetize their content. After testing and comparing dozens of them, I’ve put together a comprehensive list of the Top 10 Platforms for 2025. The guide breaks down:
I’m happy to share this guide for free! If you’re interested, just comment below or send me a message, and I’ll send you a PDF.
P.S. If you’ve had experience with platforms like these, I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions — maybe there’s a hidden gem I missed!
Looking forward to a great discussion.
Definitely interested if you could send my way, thank you!
I would be interested in your research as well.
Hi there. Please share the PDF. Thank you
Can I get the PDF as well please
i would like the guide as well please.
So I want to post football and other sport highlights also sport shows, movies and documentaries. But without worring about copyrights.
Twitch,
Only fans (just kidding)
Rumble
I recommend Vimeo.
For driving actual engagement and conversions, I’ve seen success using these.
Vidyard: Super helpful for sales and marketing. You can personalize videos, add CTAs, track viewer engagement, and integrate with your CRM.
Loom: While not a traditional marketing platform, it’s great for direct outreach or explainer content that feels personal.
Both are great for different stages of the funnel, especially if you're aiming to connect with your audience more personally.
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're thinking of, but when it comes to conversions, the important thing is capturing people's data (or at least capturing it in a way to communicate with them directly) so that you can push sponsor's material to them plus your own notifications.
I run a company called FanCircles and a new product that we've just released called FanCircles Push Pass allows you to have a QR code on your screen or a link in description and on clicking it, it installs a pass in your wallet on iOS or Android devices. This lets you push your own branded notifications to that user's account which can include a link to anywhere (whether that's your merch store or your course or a sponsor or even back to a new YouTube video).
If you're interested in taking a look, have a look at https://www.fancircles.com/mobile-push-notifications/
If you help promote it we can also pay you 30% recurring lifetime commissions, and very possibly give you a free copy to use for your own channel.
If you’re looking for a platform built specifically for video marketing and engagement, check out GUDSHO.
It’s more than just hosting, it offers built-in tools for video editor, social media management, lead captures and video analytics. The interface is clean, and you get privacy controls plus SEO features to help your videos rank.
Great option if you're trying to drive views and conversions from your videos without juggling multiple tools.

Hey folks,
I’ve been experimenting with different ways to monetize content this past year and tried out a bunch of platforms. Along the way, I put together a list of my top picks for 2025. It breaks down features, who they’re best for (like streamers, writers, podcasters, etc.), and the pros and cons of each.
If you’re curious, I can send you the PDF I made—just let me know!
But honestly, I’m more interested in what’s working for you. What platforms are you using? Got any hidden gems I should check out? Let’s share ideas and see what’s out there!

Are they any viable alternatives to YouTube for making monetized videos (tutorials, reviews, how to videos etc)? Or does YouTube pretty much have a strong hold on that market?
Closest could be Twitch since they do allow for video playback now of recorded streams...... Other than that Youtube seems to have monopoly.
Steemit and stuber. Bitntube. There was vidme that went under. Nothing really worthwhile honestly tho youtubes got a monopoly on it
if you want to teach, you can post paid courses on Udemy
You go where the audience is. There may be alternatives with different/better terms of service...but they don't have the viewership. For now the audience is all on youtube.

Does your handout have any actual data points on profit from individuals in that niche? Or is it all conjecture?
Copy please!
I left my job in 2022 to become a solopreneur. Since then, I've been running my online client business while working on various side projects to build my personal brand and generate income.
Here are the key projects that help me earn as a solopreneur and content creator:
Medium: I earn by sharing my stories on Medium, bringing in over $25K in the past five years, with an average of $115.17 per story in 2024.
My WordPress blog: I run a small blog with around 90 posts, which generated $8.8K in 2024 through affiliate commissions and sponsorships.
Digital products – I sell ebooks, which can be a great income stream if you have an audience.
Newsletter – I'm growing and monetizing my newsletter on beehiiv, though it's far from being profitable yet.
