TL;DR Biore and Sirona are popular choices, but many suggest alternatives like oil cleansing or chemical exfoliants for better long-term results.
Popular Brands
Biore is frequently mentioned as a go-to brand for nose strips. Users appreciate its effectiveness in removing impurities, although caution is advised regarding frequency of use to avoid skin damage [1:1]. Sirona nose strips also received positive feedback for their ease of use and effectiveness in cleaning the nose
[4:1]
[4:2].
Alternatives to Pore Strips
Many commenters advocate for alternatives to pore strips due to potential skin damage. Oil cleansers are recommended as they can dissolve sebaceous filaments effectively without stretching the skin [2:1]
[3:5]. Popular oil cleansers include Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Deep Cleansing Oil
[4:4].
Chemical Exfoliants
Chemical exfoliants such as AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids), BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids), and retinoids are suggested for long-term pore management. These products help prevent clogged pores and blackheads by gently exfoliating the skin [1:2]
[3:1]. The Ordinary's glycolic acid peel was mentioned as an effective option when used cautiously
[3:2].
Skin Barrier Repair
For those experiencing irritation from overuse of pore strips, focusing on repairing the skin barrier is crucial. Recommendations include using gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreen to allow the skin to heal before introducing new treatments [5:2]
[5:3]. Once the skin has healed, spot treatment with appropriate products can be considered.
Considerations Beyond the Discussions
While pore strips can provide immediate results, they are not a sustainable solution for maintaining clear pores. It's important to consider integrating a comprehensive skincare routine that includes gentle cleansing, regular exfoliation, and hydration to achieve healthier skin over time. Consulting with a dermatologist may also be beneficial if persistent issues arise.
Nose strips are fine as a short therm solution, but you’re better off using a product that will gently cleanse and prevent black heads and clogged pores. Try retinoids, salicylic acid, lactic acid or a charcoal mask.
Nose strips are horrible for your skin. They can damage it. Use BHA,AHA,retinols or Tretinoin
I’ve been so so happy with oil cleansing. Idk if that would be right for your skin type or whatnot, but I just use organic jojoba oil and massage it all over my face in gentle, circular motions. The bonus is how soft it makes the skin too!
Sorry if this a dumb question, but then what? Just rub it in and let it be?
The impurities come out onto your finger/hand or towel. Here’s a Healthline Article that will explain much better than I can
Sadly it does nothing for me
You could try Biore, they have a variety of nose strips. Yes, they should not be used frequently (as they can damage your skin’s barrier), but if you’re careful they’re pretty good. I’ve used mine yesterday, since even the charcoal mask couldn’t clear everything and it looked more like I needed extractions. The nose strip helped a lot! I did apply PC Aha afterwards, and then calming moisturizing mask. Do what works for you.
I've tried some a while back and sometimes they've failed to remove much. I don't know if it was my fault or the brand. Please help with suggestions if u can thanks.
Nose pore strips just make your pores bigger. Try ilso sebum softener.
Thanks
My esthetician told me never to use those. She suggested an oil cleanser that dissolves the gunk in your pores, followed by a gentle face wash.
Welcome to r/skincare_addiction! We'd like to take this time to remind you of a few things:
#Do not ask for a diagnosis/treatment advice for acne or other medical conditions, and do not play doctor
What constitutes medical advice?
This is asking someone to diagnose the issue, and is medical advice.
This is asking someone to advise treatment, and is medical advice.
This is asking if you should seek treatment, and ergo, medical advice.
If you would ask the question of your doctor, it falls under this rule and not allowed. As a general rule, asking for medical advice from internet strangers is never a good idea. If you have questions regarding your acne or other medical condition, you are advised to contact your healthcare provider. If you are a medical provider, we would gently remind you that users are not patients, and you should not be offering medical advice to people who are not your patients.

The best nose strips are none and the best way to use them is to not use them. They're trash.
Use an oil cleanser to dissolve any sebaceous filaments on nose.
Prequel pre-gleanser, Beauty of joseon ginseng cleansing oil, Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Deep Cleansing Oil, kose speedy or 2024 white cleansing oil. Or just use a basic oil like sunflower oil and follow with your face wash.
Are there any acids recommended? Thanks

I know pore strips are probably a thing of the past! Sunscreen has clogged my nose pores, I would like a quick fix as my glycolic acid face wash takes a bit to work them out. Is this an okay idea?
I probs wouldn’t. You could try the ordinary glycolic acid peel? The red one
Ppl hate it but I think if you use a small amount for only 5 mins (they recommend 10) it could work!
I use it weekly and my nose is smoooothhh
Thanks!!! Why do people hate it?
I think people often react badly to it because it’s so strong! Which is why I just use a tiny bit for only a few minutes and that works great for me!
If your skin is used to glycolic acid it will help !
A clay mask might be a good alternative
Really don't. Use an oil cleanser and glycolic.
Most dermatologists frown on pore strips. The adhesive can stretch your skin and make the pores bigger. Sadly, there’s probably not a quick fix. AHAs, vitamin C, and retinol/retinoids will be your best bet long term.
LISTEN HERE, I KNOW i don't NEED pore strips and that sebaceous filaments aren't blackheads and theyre natural and fine. I don't care lol, I just LIKE to do a pore strip around once a month. Im currently using the Bioré pore strips you could get anywhere but they don't get all of the areas I'd like and sometimes it can be tricky to get them to adhere right. Does anyone have any alternative pore strip products they like?
Finally found something that actually works on blackheads! Sirona nose strips are so easy to use and my nose feels so clean & smooth after every use 😍
You could use use an oil cleanser It's much more effective to just dissolve them. Prequel pre-gleanser, Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Deep Cleansing Oil, Beauty of joseon ginseng cleansing oil, kose speedy or 2024 white cleansing oil. Or just use a basic oil like sunflower oil and follow with your face wash.
Lol this is very funny. Im currently using both adapalene and a peptide moisturizer, your handle spooked me. I've never heard of oil cleanser being good for sebaceous filaments, though! I guess ive got some research to do! Will keep these products in mind if I decide to go that route!

You could try a peel off mask
Finally found something that actually works on blackheads! Sirona nose strips are so easy to use and my nose feels so clean & smooth after every use 😍
My nose, cheeks, and chin are full of clogged pores and blackheads and my face is constantly red all the time and textured from over using exfoliants pores strips on my face My nose feels congested textured and the skin feels like it’s thin ripped off from the pores strips , and no matter what I try, I can’t get the clogged pores blackheads out there large to. What can I use to get rid of the clogged pores blackheads texture and what can I use to heal my irritated damaged skin barrier.this is the worse my skin has felt.I keep picking at my nose with tweezers and stuff trying to get the clogged pores out but nothings coming out and the skin on my nose just feels more damaged wreaked. Scared I permanently damaged my nose face I’m in my early 20s.
You gotta stop picking and scrubbing your face raw.
I personally would give everything a break for a week or two so the raw skin can heal. Once it stops being so sore, go with a deep cleansing oil and really take your time really massaging it into your skin (I do this on dry skin before I add water to make it suds up and it works well for getting blackheads off my nose and chin).
Follow with a hydrating serum, doesn't have to be anything fancy, and your moisturizer/sunscreen.
Once your skin has healed, you can look into a sonic cleansing device of sorts. There's so many (I had the og clarisonic and now I have a dupe for it. Also had the silicone nubby ones). I find those work well even if you just use them in targeted areas to really get rid of, what I call, strawberry nose. Just don't overdo it.
So, I would focus on barrier repair first before trying more products to treat the areas you're having problems with. If you keep trying new things and tackling that, you may just increase irritation.
Take a week and just wash with gentle cleanser, moisturize, and sunscreen in the a.m.
If the irritation has toned down, you can start to spot treat the area. If it hasn't, maybe the cleanser you're using or the moisturizer is aiding in irritation.
I know going slow is frustrating because we all just want results, but you've got 2 different things going on. Tackle one and then the other.
Right now I’m only using a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen, but the irritation hasn’t toned down. My face is constantly red and feels itchy, and burning hot to touch sore.
If your face is constantly burning and hot to the touch, then I think it's time to see a dermatologist. If it's feeling like that, it may be something like rosecea.
Also, please stop picking at your nose with tweezers. That will help nothing and cause so so much more irritation and could lead to real damage.

wish I never used all this harsh skincare products in the first place and only used a basic routine don’t know I was doing more harm then good everyone in my family has good skin and doesn’t have large pores like this and it makes me mad knowing I did this to my self looking back I had good skin didn’t need all this.
Hi! I have the worst blackheads on my nose. What’s a product you recommend? I have sensitive skin. Haha. Thank in advance!
HI! I also get a lot of black heads and clogged pore on and around my nose. Some of my favorite products are the Derma E Deep Pore Cleansing Wash and the Peach & Lily Face Polisher. I use both of these almost every day, which can be a little harsh as this is chemical and physical exfoliation but I find both to be gentle enough to use together. Also, I know it is controversial, but physical extractions are the only thing I find that get everything looking super clean and snatched. There are the little metal tools you can get, but I prefer just clean hands on freshly washed, warm skin. I also picked up a Dermapore Ultrasonic extractor from the brand Dermaflash on sale a while back and this can really get some stubborn black heads out! Good luck!
So look up sebum and compare, see if it’s actually black heads or not! I always thought I had black heads but it is just sebum and everyone gets it. Nose strips won’t help if it’s that. Which made sense when I I got older why they weren’t pulling anything out 😂💀
have you tried an oil cleanser! it was a game changer for me!
I have insanely dry skin so I have to be specific about what I try. My sebum isn’t bad… I just have a fixation to look in a magnified mirror hahah I’ve tried different types of cleansers and I have yet to find something that doesn’t make my skin feel so tight!!!
The black heads toner from Hero has been a godsend for me just dont over use it. 2x-3x a week
They’re probably not blackheads. They are most likely clogged pores which is not the same thing.
A good chemical exfoliate used often will help clean them.
I’m an esthetician. What most people refer to as blackheads on their nose are really sebaceous filaments, which are totally normal/natural. Everyone has them, they are just more visible on some than others. I don’t recommend pore strips regardless. Your best bet would be a chemical exfoliant like this, this, or this. These products would help (and be way more effective than a pore strip) if they are actual blackheads as well.
So that's amazing, but do you actually notice a difference in the appearance of your nose? I would probably do it just for the satisfaction but I wonder how visually effective it is on the pores?
That’s a fair question! I personally see a marked difference in the appearance of my pores after using these strips. A couple of hours after taking it off, my pores always look almost invisible, which is a miracle considering my t-zone is incredibly oily and my pores generally look visible. Of course, YMMV, but they work well for me.
Wow this is so satisfying ! Have you tried out the regular Peace Out acne patches? I've been using Cosrx for a while but they're not that effective tbh.
I haven’t tried the Peace Out acne patches but I’ve heard good things about them! I did use the Cosrx patches but sadly, they did nothing for me. And omg yes I love applying the strips during the daytime so I can watch them pull out the gunk over time lol!
I’ve tried the Cosrx patches and they weren’t what I expected. But let me tell you about the PanOxyl pm overnight spot patches! Those are amazing and work so well!
You left it on your nose for 5 hours and that came out??
Yes! It’s a hydrocolloid nose strip, you leave it on for 4-6 hours. I love these because they’re waaaay more effective than traditional nose strips (and not damaging at all).
I love the peace out hydrocolloid pimple patches. I’ve tried so many brands and those are the most effective. I’ll have to try these.
Looks like a Petri dish of staph aureus! I feel gross for loving it!
Any recommendations on how to improve skin? I use pore strips scarcely. Maybe like once every 2-3 months but even when I do it doesn’t clear my nose. I cleanse my face every day and use different serums and lotions to keep it hydrated. At night I use retinol serums and occasionally under eye serums.
For pores, use Paula's Choice 2%BHA Liquid Exfoliant( in dark gray bottle) this miracle product will shrink the pores while cleaning them out. I just started using this product about a month ago, and it has worked so well, I swear I saw massive improvement after 1 use. As for the undereye discoloration, I found the Grace and Stella gel eye masks do the trick.
Neither of these products will break the bank compared to other products I've seen recommended for similar issues.
However, I would be remiss not to let you know that I think your skin looks amazing!
Niacinamide serums are great. I’d suggest CosRX’s because it’s a good texture and 15% vs the 10 of most brands. Not to mention for sale on Amazon like all the time. Also a 4% BHA (salicylic acid) with no AHA just to the nose helped me a lot.
for pores, the skin1004 clay stick is sooo good. available on amazon
TonyMoly egg pore nose pack works well for me.
You should know before using a nose strip that they're very harsh for your nose. If you have blackheads or sebaceous filaments then use some exfoliation or oil cleansing. But if it's just hair (trichostasis spinulosa) then get them removed from professional but nose strips are also quite effective in this case but still very very harsh.
Which cleansing oil would you recommend for blackheads?
Are they blackheads or sebaceous filaments? Blackheads = clogged, removable, dark black, raised, caused by buildup. If they're blackheads you'll need to exfoliate them with bha . Do you own research before using anything.
Sebaceous filaments = normal part of skin, come back quickly, look like a “dotty pattern" , aren't dark black, feels smooth if you touch them. Oil cleansing+ exfoliation . Again be caution of not over exfoliating.
For oil cleanser i think any oil cleanser will work .there are variety of korean oil cleanser.
Any facewash recommended for blackhead remove?
none of these have ever worked for me
Stay away from Sanfe as much as possible please!
Why
Your nose looks fine. Just some oxidation causing discoloration. Oil cleaner, gentle foam cleanse, and sunscreen can stop it.
Can you tell me how to oil clean? My nose is like this too
Not OP but oil cleansing is a great way to clean out pores because oil dissolves oil. All you do is buy an oil cleanser, squirt some in your hand, rub on your dry face, add some water to emulsify the oil (it’ll turn a little milky), rub that around some more, then rinse off! Follow that with a more traditional cleanser
Can you recommend a good oil cleanser?
I like DHC’s Deep Cleansing Oil...
Not OC but Hada Labo has a great oil cleanser that remains super affordable. I am not sure about the precise name but if you google “Hada Labo Oil Cleanser”, you will see that colorful bottle with a pump - that’s the one. Works wonders and emulsifies instantly.
how does sunscreen help with this?
Park of keeping your pores free of debris is getting rid of dead skin. I've found that super abrasive exfoliaters actually does more damage than good. Bocia and Peter Thomas Roth both make an exfoliating peel gel that is SO gentle and really gets the job done. I've linked them below. If a peel and regular cleansing doesn't do it you might want to talk to your dermatologist about your excess oil production! My nose looked a lot like yours when I had cystic acne (see my B&A here) but a Retinoid took care of it!

I can’t upvote the Boscia exfoliating peel gel enough. That shit works wonders.
My nose stays looking like that. I have tried salicylic acid peels and they don't help much.
Do you moisturize with anything? I think this being on the area between my nose and my actual cheeks is my second worse skin issue besides dry skin in general.
Salicylic acid, oil cleansing and a weekly aztec clay mask should help you keep these at bay.
Product recommendations:
SA: Stridex Max Stength, Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid
Oil Cleansing: Hada Labo
Mask: Aztec Healing Clay Mask
You can find all of these on Amazon.
Best pore strips for your nose
Key Considerations for Choosing Pore Strips:
Ingredients: Look for strips that contain effective ingredients like salicylic acid or charcoal, which can help draw out impurities and excess oil from the pores.
Adhesion: Ensure the strips have strong adhesion to effectively pull out blackheads and debris without falling off during use.
Skin Type Compatibility: Choose strips that are suitable for your skin type (oily, dry, sensitive) to avoid irritation. Some brands offer specific formulations for sensitive skin.
Ease of Use: Consider how easy the strips are to apply and remove. A straightforward application process can enhance your experience.
Brand Reputation: Opt for well-reviewed brands that have a history of effectiveness and safety in their products.
Recommendations:
Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips: These are widely regarded for their effectiveness in removing blackheads and impurities. They contain witch hazel and are designed to adhere well to the skin.
Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Pore Strips: These strips contain glycolic acid, which helps exfoliate and clear pores while also being gentle on the skin.
COSRX Pore Clear Blackhead Power Liquid: While not a traditional strip, this liquid can be used as a treatment to help dissolve blackheads over time, making it a great alternative.
Takeaway: For immediate results, Biore is a reliable choice, while Nip + Fab offers a more gentle option. If you're looking for a long-term solution, consider incorporating a product like COSRX into your routine. Always follow up with a good moisturizer after using pore strips to maintain skin hydration.
