Best Skate Rack Options

When it comes to organizing skateboards, there are several options available ranging from DIY solutions to commercially available racks. Here's a summary of the best skate rack options discussed in various threads:

Commercially Available Racks

  1. Zenit Board Rack: Zenit offers a modular 6-deck stand shelf that is particularly praised for its ability to fit longboards, which can be an issue with some skateboard racks [4:1]. The modular nature allows for expansion and customization, making it a versatile option for those with multiple boards.

  2. The Parking Block: This is a popular choice on Amazon, noted for its durability and functionality [2:3].

  3. Multi Guitar Rack: Although not designed specifically for skateboards, a multi guitar rack has been suggested as a creative alternative for storing multiple boards [1:1].

DIY Solutions

  1. Wire Hooks or Hangers: Some users have found success using wire hooks or modified hangers to store decks in closets [2:1]. This is a cost-effective solution that leverages existing closet space.

  2. Custom Shelving: Building custom shelves is another DIY approach. One user shared their experience of creating a customized shelf that suits their specific needs [5:4].

  3. Y Brackets: Simple Y brackets from any hardware store can be used to create a functional and inexpensive rack [5:7].

Considerations for Choosing a Rack

  • Space and Number of Boards: Consider how many boards you need to store and the space available. Modular systems like the Zenit rack allow for future expansion.
  • Type of Boards: If you have longboards, ensure the rack can accommodate the larger size. Not all skateboard racks are suitable for longboards.
  • Budget: While DIY options can be cheaper, investing in a quality rack can protect your boards and keep them organized.
  • Aesthetic Preferences: Choose a rack that fits your aesthetic preferences and complements your home decor.

In conclusion, whether you opt for a commercial product or a DIY solution, there are plenty of options available to suit different needs and preferences. Consider the number and type of boards you have, as well as your budget and available space, when selecting the best skate rack for your situation.

Anyone know where I can get a board wall mount like in the picture? I like this one because it would be easier for my small kid to take down or put away and the wheels won’t dirty up the wall or scratch from the grip tape. I found the picture on Pinterest but can’t find the actual product, if it even exists. Thank you!

You can find neat ones on Etsy. Or probably find similar on Amazon

This isn't a hanging rack but I saw in this YT video they suggest using a multi guitar rack for skateboard storage.

Floor rack for skateboards that isn't garbage? [34YO]

Posted by LitAirMusic · in r/OldSkaters · 2 years ago

Looking for a board rack to keep my stuff contained better (not interested in a wall mounted rack), but everything on Amazon looks like the same three cheap products being sold under different names/prices. Does anybody know of any legit companies that make solid board racks? I've got about 7 boards set up right now (one for my wife, one old deck I'm not using atm, and five setups of various shapes/sizes/truck tightness because I'm lazy about adjusting shit for different parks).

If all else fails, I guess I'll look up some woodworking companies to ask about pricing for having one built, but hoping someone might be able to point me to something decent before running that road if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Legend. What a solid idea. Out hunting for rack ideas and i find your comment. I have a closet in the foyer. (British peasant. Dont know another word for it. Never had one till now). We dont have metal hangars in shops these days, but some wire hooks would do the job.

I’ve got a fairly basic one that does the job very well. I’ll check where it came from and post a picture when I get in from work.

Yep on it.

I ended up ordering a 6 deck stand shelf but TBH it’s all modular so it can be easily expanded or changed later. Allegedly. 🤪

Stuff isn’t cheap, but neither are my boards lining the hallway. In the end what won me over was the fact it’s made by a longboard company so it legit fits them.

Some skateboard ones I saw claimed to hold 14 or so but in pictures with longboards it seems like you may have to skip spots. Not worth it for me.

I’m hoping it arrives this week. I’ll make a post and link you here! 🤙

Is that middle board a Derringer? I'm thinking of getting the 33, I'm into carving and cruising but I hear it doesn't handle hills very well. Thoughts?

1 upvotes on reddit
larengites · OP · 5 years ago

That’s actually just an arbor pintail. I ride the 37dd for almost everything. I need to get stiffer springs for my original trucks to handle downhill, took a nasty fall yesterday because the black springs in them aren’t good for downhill and were too carvy. You could really use any board for carving as long as you get a board that has a cutout too allow you to get massive angle without wheel bite and without using risers to keep you low to the ground. My next board I am getting is the 40 diamond drop and that’s going to be my bread and butter for downhill, carving, and freestyle.

1 upvotes on reddit
WildTangent6 · 5 years ago

yikes i defintely wouldn't want that to happen - sorry to hear about your fall. the diamond is pretty sweet, nice! i think i'm most looking for versatility in my next board. how much do you know about Landyachtz's tugboats, dugouts and dinghy's? dinghy looks a little too much on the smaller side for me but they all satisfy what i want, especially for carrying around campus.

2 upvotes on reddit
larengites · OP · 5 years ago

The 33 might be a little too short for downhill though, you could try the arbiter dk or vector 37 those are good options too

A favorite for garage skating

Posted by Kyrieezy · in r/NewSkaters · 2 months ago
post image

I built this little flat rail for my 7 year old so he could practice learning to grind and it works perfectly when you want to skate in cramped spaces, like my garage. I've hit my head on the garage door opener on higher rails in here and longer rails/ parking block take up too much room I've tried and dented my garage door lol but I've been skating this little guy for the last couple hours and it's super fun.

If anyone wants to get some skate time in at night without getting attacked by mosquitoes and bugs outside now that summer is here you can make one of these for basically free and you can always add more wood to make it higher/cut it different lengths to fit your space.

I just made this out of 2x3 and a couple metal slats from my kid's bed frame I was replacing. The metal pieces were 58" long so just cut the 2x3 to fit and put a couple of 1x4 pieces on the bottom to give it some stability. If you want to hit it hard you can duct tape the 1x4's to the ground to keep it from moving, but I don't have room to go very fast with the garage door closed and it moves sometimes but it's surprisingly stable, plus if you hit it wrong and it does move it's so low to the ground it doesn't really matter you can just skate off it or step down.

x1tsGh0stx · OP · 8 months ago

It's pretty gas, but it might taper too much/be longer than what some people are wanting right now in a race board. I'm running the DT Danger Pro's and considering chopping the tail off to reduce the swing out and make taking good lines easier. Another friend who lives here uses his for freeride on sym Valks and shreds on it. We are heavily Pantheon biased out here tho, lol.

This is a great design! But your bottom wall will get dirty. Maybe put some shielding there

1 upvotes on reddit
GrimDarkGunner · OP · 3 months ago

Thanks! Yeah, I thought about that. They don't actually touch while hanging, but it's close and I'm sure the wall will get bumped. I did put a few coats of Scuff-X paint on the walls, so I'm hoping they'll clean off OK. I have to think about the shielding a bit more, the boards being different lengths makes it trickier to do something that looks clean.

1 upvotes on reddit

hotakaPAD · 3 months ago

Ohhh ok cool. Hmm then maybe moving the hooks 1 inch away from the wall could be a clean solution. Then the wheels definitely won't touch the wall

best skate rack

Key Considerations for Choosing a Skate Rack:

  1. Capacity: Determine how many skateboards or skates you need to store. Racks come in various sizes, so choose one that fits your collection.

  2. Material: Look for durable materials like metal or high-quality wood. Metal racks tend to be sturdier and can hold more weight.

  3. Design: Consider a design that fits your space. Wall-mounted racks save floor space, while freestanding racks can be moved easily.

  4. Ease of Access: Ensure the rack allows for easy access to your skates or boards. A design that lets you slide boards in and out without hassle is ideal.

  5. Aesthetics: Choose a rack that complements your decor. Some racks come in various finishes or colors to match your style.

Recommendations:

  • Wall-Mounted Racks: The Skateboard Wall Rack by StoreYourBoard is a great option. It holds multiple boards and is easy to install, keeping your space organized and stylish.

  • Freestanding Racks: The Razor Skateboard Rack is a solid choice for those who prefer a freestanding option. It holds several boards and is made from durable materials.

  • Multi-Function Racks: If you have both skateboards and skates, consider the Pro Board Racks Skateboard and Longboard Rack, which accommodates various types of boards and skates, making it versatile for different users.

Choosing the right skate rack will help keep your gear organized and accessible while also enhancing your space's aesthetic.
