TL;DR
oo35mm
Located in Chinatown, oo35mm is highly recommended for those seeking Asian skincare products. The store is praised for its knowledgeable staff who can guide you through their vast selection of products. Customers appreciate the availability of testers and English translations on ingredient labels [3:4]. Additionally, oo35mm offers a variety of popular brands like Cosrx and Naruko, making it a go-to spot for many skincare enthusiasts
[3:2].
Åland
Åland in Williamsburg is another excellent option, especially for fans of Korean skincare. The store dedicates its first floor to skincare products, including brands like Cosrx and Klairs [1:1]. It provides a unique shopping experience with a focus on Korean lifestyle and beauty products.
New Kam Man
New Kam Man on Canal Street is a Chinese/Pan-Asian grocery store with a second floor dedicated to makeup and skincare. It's known for offering bulk sheet masks and bigger brands, providing a comprehensive shopping experience for skincare aficionados [5:1]. This store is ideal for those looking to explore a variety of Asian beauty products in one location.
Other Notable Mentions
For those interested in non-Korean beauty products, CO Bigelow is worth visiting [1:2]. Additionally, The Abnormal Beauty Company near Bryant Park offers products from The Ordinary and other brands, with knowledgeable staff ready to assist
[2:1]. Rescue Spa is recommended for spa treatments, particularly the biolift facial
[2:3].
These stores provide a diverse array of skincare options, catering to different preferences and needs. Whether you're seeking Asian beauty products or specialized treatments, NYC has plenty of hidden gems to explore.
I’m a beauty product junkie and wondering where the best stuff is at. Not the stuff you can get at Sephora, since I already live right by one. I love Korean products, oo35mm is probably the best store I’ve found for that. I wanna know the hidden gems!
Not K-beauty but CO Bigelow is worth a visit.
Not really hidden gems, but there's a Tonymoly shop and a The Face Shop on W 32nd! The Face Shop often does GREAT deals on sheet masks (buy 10, get 10 free).
I love Nature Republic products, there is a store on 14th between 5th & University
Have you seen the list created by the ladies at r/AsianBeauty? Thread
The Korean lifestyle store Åland opened up recently in Williamsburg; they've got the first floor dedicated to skincare and accessories like sunglasses. I went recently to stock up on Cosrx (my love) since they have more of the brand's offerings than oo35mm. To be honest I can't remember any of the other brands except klairs, but it was fun to check out.
Someone tell me how they're making rent though, that place is massive.
Besides that, New Kam Man on Canal St is a Chinese/Pan-Asian grocery store but has an amazing 2nd floor of makeup and skincare. Japanese and Korean products primarily, but they've also got my fave Taiwanese sheet masks. Always great to browse!
Sunrise Mart on Stuyvesant is also a grocery store specializing in Japanese ingredients and goods (lol do you sense a theme here with my shopping) but they've got a small selection of skincare products as well.
FamilyMart in Astoria is like a Japanese bodega and they also have a little beauty aisle as well, although I'm mostly there for snacks.
I second these.

Hello, all!
I’ll be taking a trip to NYC next week to take some classes. I would love to know of some skincare/beauty places that are good to check out. I’m open to spas as well as retails. I JUST discovered the birch box store is closed which is super disappointing, but what are some other good places to visit?
Thanks in advance!
I ordered The Ordinary AND Stratia products from the New London Pharmacy recently so I could combine and get free shipping.. that’s where I’d head, personally! That and a Deciem store. Oh man. So many products I’d like to touch.
The biolift facial from rescue spa is amazing.
rescue spa! they have biologique recherche, its one of the most popular spas
there are also barbara sturm locations with barbara sturm trained estheticians (@elizabethandava is one I follow off the top of my head)
The Abnormal Beauty Company (aka The Ordinary along with some other brands) has a store right near Bryant Park! The workers are really knowledgeable and helpful! Highly recommend.
On the recommendation from a fellow SCA, I went to oo35mm in Chinatown in NYC and had THE best experience! The saleswoman, Joyce, was so crazy knowledgeable about every single skincare product stuffed into this tiny second floor storefront. I was blown away. I am in no way affiliated with this place; I just really had such an amazing, genuine experience that from now on, this will be the only place I go! Not only do they carry an abundance of Asian skincare products, but lots of others including some HGs from SCA. Highly recommend to anyone visiting or living nearby!
Chinatown has so many gems! I found this store when I read an article from into the gloss two years ago. They sell some fantastic sheet masks. I love their Naruko selection
I just did a fermentation mask I got tonight. I bought a few more as well. I’ll have to try Naruko - thanks for the rec!
I know NYC already has a few Deciem stores, but if you're close to Chinatown this store also carries most of the TO line! The markups are minimal, less than subway fare I believe. They also sell Asian makeup products and interesting trinkets. Plus, they're generous with samples and sometimes give you these cute reusable shopping bags that fold up into a strawberry shape!
The bag is so cute!!
I just went there for the first time last week, and it was a really fun trip. They had lots of testers available, which was really helpful. I also appreciated that they had put English translations of ingredient labels on most of the testers.
Yes! Sometimes going to stores like that can be so overwhelming - you really need someone to help you narrow down on some products!
omg heard about this place!!! i'm an NYC girl i must go
It’s dangerously close to my job! You gotta go!
I will!! thank you <3 <3
I enjoyed my visit to their store so much on my last visit to NYC, that I still purchase from them online. I know it’s not always the cheapest option, but packages arrive pretty darn fast and I’m happy to support mom and pop beauty stores like this that have SO MANY options and truly care about their customers.
Hi bitches! I have ALOT of cystic acne scarring and I’m a POC. I have been going to tribeca skin center for my acne and they’re helpful. I want to get rid of these very stubborn dark scars I have from acne. Please recommend the best scarring treatments you have gotten so far in Manhattan! Thank you
Love Tribeca skin center I got BBL lasering done there. I have indent scars from cystic acne I had over 7 years ago but it helps overall with texture.
Check out r/skincareaddicts for treatment suggestions and then come back for specific locations that do them. It’s a friendly subreddit! 😊
Thank u :)
Try carbon peel facial
I suggest investing in a red light led mask it truly makes a difference when used consistently!
Hey! About 6 months ago someone told me about a shop in China Town Manhattan where they were able to get the Timeless Vit C serum! I haven't been able to find it.... Where do you buy your skin care in NYC? Do you have a whole in the wall local shop? Go to spot in Korea or China town? I'd love suggestions to check out!
Oo35mm has it listed on their website, so I would imagine they carry it in the store as well. Headed there on Friday if you want me to report back!
If I have time tomorrow I might go check it out!! If I get to I'll post in this thread! :)
Yes please! Any one have any idea where I can get the premium (gold) Hada Lobo lotion?
Yeah I wish I could find the canmake mermaid gel sunscreen but I feel like that ones almost impossible
New Kam Man in Chinatown has it upstairs and tasty asian treats in the supermarket on the ground floor. I highly recommend. Also good for bulk sheet masks and bigger brands. oo35mm is just around the corner and has literally everything else. Prices are higher than online but not too bad for the instant satisfaction, ability to sample, and no shipping. Plus the girls who work there are very knowledgable and helpful.
Thanks for the suggestions!!
What product is it? I cannot tell from the photo.
The AHA/BHA Peeling Solution!
If I have to pick one product from TO, it would be this!
This is my replacement for peeling pads from Neostrata I was using for 3 years. Cheaper but works just as good!
I hope it works for you. This is one of The Ordinary products not available in Canada.
I am literally using this right now :) It's the one product with actives that has actually made a difference on my skin! Specifically closed comedones around my mouth/chin area (hormonal acne). But consistency is key... I didn't see noticeable results until about 3.5 months of regular weekly applications.
I could never walk out of there with just ONE product...
This was my first thought seeing the post lol
Oh I live right next to NYC across the Hudson in NJ - hope you enjoyed the city!
That is a huge bag for just that one bottle!
Wow I’m moving to NYC next week, didn’t know this existed there. I’m so excited I don’t have to wait for their shipping anymore btw their peeling mask is the best, I like it better than DE babyfacial
I used to go to Ricky’s near Union Square but according to Google Maps, they have closed down.
I buy hair color, developer, and powder lightener (usually Pulp Riot’s hair color), and have struggled to find other stores that carry these products. Outside of the city I go to Sally’s but they don’t seem to have very many of those here.
I am looking for a store near Downtown Brooklyn, or Lower Manhattan ideally. I’m also not licensed so places like CosmoProf/SalonCentric unfortunately won’t be available.
There is one on 47th and 8th Ave. Eve beauty supply. It is the real deal. Reasonably priced and huge selection of almost everything. I went there yesterday and it was open
Thanks! I’m going to check it out.
There are tons of independently run beauty supply places on Flatbush Ave, roughly between Church Ave and Cortelyou Rd. Metro, Feel, etc.
Yes! My fav is on flatbush right by cortelyou. I believe it’s Black owned and it’s called Metro beauty. They got great selection of alternative hair dyes for cheap.
I also fond the prices at sally’s to be affordable as well for manic panic and artic fox. There’s one on the ues in the 80s. The ulta on 86 usually has bogo on hair dyes as well.
If you are willing to venture out, there is a Sally's in Bay Ridge

Harmon Face Values / Face Values.
There’s one on W 22nd Street and there’s one near Court Street in Downtown BK
I own a business and I’m always meeting clients. I am wanting help to make myself as presentable as possible. Who do yall trust with you skin? I always feel like the big chain stores are upselling items. Who can I hire that cares about their job and will be honest?
You need a good cleanser depending on the skin type. Cerave Cleansers are good. I use the Salicylic Acid 2% Cleanser and regular a cleanser for oily skin.
Use a good retinol at night. I also use adaplene on alternate days.
A good facial moisturizer from La Roche Posay. Like the tullerian.
A good tinted sunscreen specially a mineral one would make your face glow. Make sure it’s water and sweat proof. Or reapply throughout the day. I am a guy and the sunscreen removed the dullness from my face. I got many compliments because nobody can see if it’s makeup or sunscreen. It even out your skin tone and gives a radiant fresh look. It’s all because of the iron oxides and titanium inside a sunscreen.
No matter what you do, you need these basics down first. Otherwise no amount of skin care will work.
You might also need a good antibiotic course if you have acne in the beginning. So you can always consult a dermatologist.

Youthful Infusion Med Spa on Grande in Tyler. I’ve had several facials and skin care treatment there and they’ve worked wonders. I was never into that stuff but I’m a true believer now, cannot recommend them enough and the whole staff is great. Helped a ton with acne scars and just overall my skin looks so much better.
Go to the HEB and get you some CeraVe cleanser and then some daily moisturizer. It's cheap but really really good.
Ok!
I agree with this one, get a simple moisturizer that doesn't really clog your skin and get a good simple cleanser to wash your face. Stay away from anything that's super scented or gimmicky "super macho man ocean breeze face blaster by Old spice" or whatever. Maybe get a light SPF for when you'll be outside.
A few things that will help with your skin: -Hyaluronic Acid to help with wrinkles -Vitamin C to help with fine lines. -Retinol to help with skin aging and discoloration
Wear sunblock with lotion, even if inside, because office lights can dry your skin out and if you're near a window it can still have an effect. There are some great products out there that are decent in price. My dermatology office tends to carry Cera Ve and Laroche Pose because they're effective and decent in price.
What are your skin care needs? Is your skin dry? Oily? Do you have or ever get acne?
I guess just to take care of it. Don’t really think it oily because I get a few pimples every now and then.

I'd start with a dermatologist first, and go from there
Any that you recommend?
