Adidas is frequently recommended for its durable, functional, and stylish sportswear at reasonable prices [1:1]. Other mainstream brands like Nike and Under Armour are also popular choices
[1:2]. For those looking for something different, Gymshark and Castore offer trendy options
[1:2]. Sports Direct is a good place to find these brands
[1:3].
Online Shopping Options
For online shopping, Amazon is a reliable platform with a wide range of active wear options [3:3]
[3:4]. Fabletics is praised for its comfortable leggings and athletic shirts
[3:2]. Decathlon offers a variety of sports gear, known for its price-quality ratio, although availability may vary by region
[3:1].
Discount and Outlet Stores
For budget-friendly options, Old Navy offers affordable athletic tops and bottoms [5:1], while GAP sale racks can provide excellent deals on clothing
[5:2]. Costco is another option for finding workout clothing at lower prices
[5:3]. Play It Again Sports is recommended for second-hand sports equipment
[4:2].
Specialty and Local Stores
In Tacoma, Dicks Sporting Goods and Just Sports in the mall are good options for out-of-market sports team apparel [2:1]
[2:3]. Elevate Sports is suggested for supporting local businesses that sell used and new sports equipment
[2:2]. Koch's downtown is noted for having a variety of sporting goods in stock
[4:1].
Additional Recommendations
For yoga mats and fitness accessories, 5 Below offers affordable options [4:3]. Sierra provides outdoor-focused gear that might include some fitness accessories
[4:4]. When considering shoes, it's advised not to skimp on quality as it can lead to injury; checking sale sections at local running shops or stores like Marshals and Dicks Sporting Goods can help find deals
[5:4]
[5:6].
I am looking for some nice sportswear that doesn't look hideous and actually fits properly. I've seen a few pieces on Castore, and people have recommended them to me. Some other recommendations would be greatly appreciated as well.
Plenty. Under armour, Nike running and many other mainstream brands.
There's also gym shark, castore etc which are pretty good.
Sports direct for some under armour or adidas.
I'm not going to blow your mind here but I find Adidas to be heard-wearing, functional, stylish and surprisingly inexpensive. I get basically all my sportswear from there, bar the shoes (Asics) and the socks (Uniqlo).
Converse socks are great as well.
M&S stuff is great
Björn Borg is great
Can anyone suggest a sports apparel store in/around Tacoma that sells out of market sports team apparel? I have family coming from out of state and I am looking for some last minute Christmas gifts
Hijacking this thread, if you anyone wants to support local business for used/new sports equipment, elevate sports on STW
Dicks sporting goods at the mall has some non-Seattle apparel.
Just sports in the Mall is a better option for out of market teams

I'm looking to work out regularly for the first time, and I've never bought any active wear items before.. I am intimidated!
Let me know what some good staple items are to have, and the ones you can't live without!
I'm looking for some good online deals that ship to Canada.
I buy my leggings from Fabletics, they are super functional and comfortable. I normally purchase any athletic shirts from Nike or Adidas, but a good substitute may be Fabletics as well.
I use Amazon all the time for this an have had good luck.
I've heard Amazon is good for this
Senita!
I don't know of they ship/work/exist outside of Europe, but I love Decathlon. From basic to professional stuff, and everything is actually very good price-quality wise.
Hey everyone! I’m looking for a good sports outlet or store (online or in-person) where I can find affordable but good quality gear, things like workout/yoga mats, swimming goggles, resistance bands, and general fitness accessories.
P.S. I am aware of Dick’s but looking for an outlet
Play it again sports.
For yoga mats in particular, try 5 below.
Sierra in Rookwood is more outdoors based but may have what you’re looking for
Sierra
Don't sleep in Koch's downtown. Most of their business seems to be jerseys of pro teams, but they also have real sporting goods that are actually in stock. A few years ago, through a series of odd circumstances, I needed, in short order, a discus, wrestling headgear, and women's soccer goalie gloves. Dick's had none of them, Koch's had all of them.
Thanks to my new job I'm considered a professional athlete (never thought that would happen). Since I have to maintain a certain level of fitness and workout constantly, I go through a lot of gym wear, which can rack up $.
I'm trying to find ways to get more gear without breaking the bank. Specially tops, shorts, and shoes. I'm currently in need of new running shoes.
I get a discount with Lululemon, but I still can't shop there. It physically hurts to think of buying a pair of leggings for $60, and that's with the discount they give me.
Also looking for cheaper ways to get more protein in my diet. Best budget protein powder?
For clothes, GAP sale racks can have fantastic deals. Shoes are more difficult, but always walk through the department at Marshals and Dicks Sporting Goods. Ideally, pick up a pair or two before you need them.
All my workout clothing has come from Costco. Every so often I look through all the stuff in the middle of the store and find what fits. It's usually 2nd tier brands, but never once have I thought my inability to perform better is being caused by the logo on my shirt.
Thrift store for clothes. I’m a competitive runner and I never skimp on shoes. It can lead to injury. However I do check the sale section at my local running shop to see if they have the type I like on sale.
Old Navy is having a sale right now on chest pocket tank tops, $5 each.
I too buy my athletic tops and bottoms at Old Navy. I like nice sneakers and buy quality like New Balance, Nike, etc.
I got this brand Hoka on Zappos, they were on sale and I had a $35 coupon code, so they were like $60. I used to get New Balance, but I definitely switched to Hoka's for Rucking.
Old Navy compressions leggings are amazing. I've seen them as low as $15 per pair then use Rakuten to get some extra money back!
Don’t cheap out shoes, athletic wear can be bought cheaply.
I always just bought whatever for athletic clothes and have realized none of it is very flattering. Now that I’m single and interested in going to Barre classes, I want to update my athletic wear wardrobe. I started to look at Abercrombie and Aerie, but HOLY MOLY workout clothes seem to start at $30 and go up from there. Is that normal prices these days? Where do you like to buy athletic wear from? Bonus points if any of it is cotton or especially breathable. I don’t sweat a lot.
Try Old Navy! They have petite sizes and often have great sales. Looks like activewear leggings are $25-40 right now, but they're having a 30% off everything sale.
Agreeing with old navy! They always have athletic clothing in the clearance rack every time I go. I’ve gotten tops and leggings there for like under $15 each on sale.
Another vote for Old Navy. All my activewear is from there. Especially if you're a petite size on top (short torso), that's a go-to choice. I just wish they had more midrise options for pants these days since I hate high rise everything.
+1 for old navy! I bough a few bike shorts and tops from them for the summer and really love them. Most items come in petite sizes. And they feel way nicer than my expensive athletic wear and are much more affordable. I’m kinda bummed I slept on Old Navy for so long!
Athleta, Outdoor Voices (but I only buy on sale)
Lululemon (but I would only get it if thrifting 🫣)
Target also has some basics for activewear if you just want to try out some new silhouettes/styles at a lower price point before investing in something you really love
Target has so much cute stuff ! All their fall things are in stock now
Lululemon is my fave but definitely expensive. Zella is nice and a little bit less pricey, they have it at Nordstrom Rack for a pretty good price sometimes. Also seconding what the other commenter said about CRZ Yoga, their stuff is nice for the price!
Does Zella fit petites? Never tried them but they are so much more affordable than Lululemon.
I’m 5’4 and have had luck with them. They tend to run small.
I’m such a Target fan. They continually improve their styles and fabrics. The All In Motion and Joy Lab lines are great. However, their stuff is mostly synthetic.
I like lululemon but that’s expensive. I would say $30-50 for sports bras and $60-80+ for leggings. They are good quality though.
Check out crz yoga on Amazon. I really like their biker shorts and leggings and are much more affordable. I think I got a sports bra, biker shorts and leggings for $75 total
Sounds like deal! Thank you (:
Hey fellow Fresno peeps. I wanted to ask if there are any places you guys check out for gym or athletic clothing? I do not mind paying a little more for name brand clothing, but I want to make sure that they will last for years. Any recommendations? I am trying to buy in bulk.
Kohls, Nordstrom, Walmart, Target.
I feel like everyone always forgets Big 5
Agree. Was there recently and they had a big alot of sale racks with reasonable prices.
Not sure exactly of your budget but if you’ve got lots of disposable money there’s a Lululemon store at Fig Garden
This. Buy once cry once
Nike outlet in Tulare. Honestly an outlet mall with a Nike should be in Fresno.
Dicks Sporting Goods
J sports is best not chisti sports
ONE is a best option and also there is a shop named Brantick near freed gate… they have good quality stuffs
ONE
Idk man but one sucks, it has good sweatpants but other things are kinda chapri
Imtiaz pe check kro acha mil jae ga
If u wanna buy local quality go for Chishti sports but if u want good stuff check out ONE and if u want some premium than checkout adidas and Nike online
I’ve tried lululemon and OV. While the few pieces I have from both are good, they’re a bit pricy for me. What are some other good places to buy workout clothes from in the city?
Costco. Their Kirkland and Danskin leggings are really nice. Comes with pockets. Cheap as hell. Grab a random tshirt, generally the men's ones or the ones in a 3 pack.
Target when things are on sale or switching season (clearance). Nicer prints and designs than Costco.
Came here to comment Costco for the Danskin leggings and workout shirts! The leggings are thicker and have pockets and are great, but their shirts are buttery smooth and soft and dry quickly
When I splurge, I hit the sales racks at Athleta. Quality is very high, and prices (even pre-sale) are generally lower then lululemon. They frequently have great sales though.
For more affordable, Amazon has a ton of stuff. Not local obviously, and you need to be careful, some of the cheaper stuff is really, well, cheap, and fits strange, but if you stick with the Amazon Basics brand, or others that get reviews, they can be pretty affordable. Plus free returns if you don't like it.
I forgot about athleta! I’ll check them out to see if they have any good sales
I’ve gotten stuff from Amazon and didn’t really like the quality sadly. Don’t think it was the amazon basics brand tho so I might give that a shot
Target has some ok stuff. I'm male, and a trail runner, but last time I was there I thought their stuff was decent. They had running specific and workout options. Also , try sports basement.
Yeah, female here, but Target tends to have stuff that is on-trend. Sometimes the fit is a bit weird, but if it fits you, definitely more affordable.
Second sports basement. Join their membership, it’s pretty cheap for a lifetime membership and it gets you a discount on everything. They run crazy sales sometimes too if you catch them at the right time. I bought a ski jacket for over $300 (already discounted from $500 and nowhere else even came close to them in price to begin with) and they said if I signed up for the membership, the price of the membership was less than the total discount it got me on that days’s purchase.
Old Navy. I bought workout clothes from them 5yrs back that is still in good condition. Some of their stuff is cheap quality but you can find good quality reasonably priced material too
Old navy is shut down on market so yeah ROSS on market is good
I work out a few times a week including getting my feet and ankles soaked in salt water while sailboat racing and my old navy leggings have lasted like absolute champs. It’s my favorite place to get fitness clothing, especially the power press and power soft lines.
Ok sold I need to hit up old navy
I worked at old navy over 10 yrs ago and my store manager said that our area manager used to be in corporate and some of the athletic wear were made by the same supplier for lulu and if you do a side by side the quality was the same or similar. But idk now as things do change.
I’ve always struggled with finding clothes that fit me well besides a few brands like Under Armour and maybe some Oakley stuff. The only other place I can find is Lululemon but I really can’t afford to spend that much on athletic-fit clothes.
For context I’m 5’11”, about 200, and built like a hockey/lacrosse player. I just don’t want to wear Nike, Adidas, or other sports company clothing constantly and normal T shirts like ones you get at Walmart or Target are the most basic “one size fits all types” shirts out there.
Any suggestions?
If you have an Academy Sports near you try their BCG brand. They have T shirts and collared polos, shorts and slacks with no logos. While not super ultra quality, I find it good value for the price.
so, lots of amazon clothes are hit/miss, but I recently ordered some long sleeve shirts from a chinesium brand called "coofandy" that actually fit me very well,
I am 6ft 185.
I ordered 2, and once I tried them on, I immediately ordered 4 more. They fit surprisingly well and work for athletic builds.
There is no branding on the shirt anywhere, and if you can get over the corny name on the tag, it would probably work for you.
They make some T-shirts too but I have only bought the long sleeve shirts.
They are cheap, around 10-15 per shirt, and feel very nice.
Also, old navy shirts are pretty well suited for athletic builds as well.
I buy XL cotten tshirts and they are fine.
