What Redditors are Saying

Best Swimwear for Pregnant Women

TL;DR

  • Consider brands like YouSwim, Old Navy, Summer Mae, and Decathlon for maternity swimwear.
  • Many women recommend sizing up in regular swimwear or opting for bikinis.

Maternity Swimwear Brands

Several brands were frequently mentioned as good options for maternity swimwear. YouSwim was praised for its flexible sizing that accommodates different pregnancy stages and postpartum [2:1], [5:3]. Old Navy's maternity line offers comfortable and stretchy separates [2:2]. Summer Mae provides cute, comfortable, and affordable options [2:3]. Decathlon was noted for offering supportive swimsuits with ample bust support [4:3].

Sizing Up and Regular Swimwear

Many pregnant women find success by simply sizing up in regular swimwear rather than purchasing specific maternity pieces. Some users found regular bikinis worked well throughout their pregnancies [1:1], [1:9]. Others opted for larger sizes of their favorite regular swimwear brands, such as Gottex Profile tankinis with underwire for added support [5:2], [5:7].

Supportive Options for Larger Busts

For those needing extra bust support, some recommended looking for bra-sized tops from brands like Bravissimo, Freya, and Curvy Kate [5:1], [5:4]. Additionally, adjustable straps and underwire can provide the necessary support during pregnancy [5:5].

Alternative Styles and Customization

Some users sought alternative styles like one-piece swim dresses or rompers for modesty and comfort [3:4]. For those unable to find a perfect fit, mixing and matching separate pieces, such as pairing high-waisted bottoms with supportive bikini tops, was a common solution [5:1].

Budget-Friendly Options

For budget-conscious shoppers, Target and Amazon were popular choices for finding affordable swimwear that still offered quality and style [1:2], [5:8]. These retailers often have sales and a wide selection of styles and sizes to suit different needs.

Hi! Going on a beach trip when I’ll be around 28/29 weeks. Can anyone recommend some good maternity swimwear brands? Is it possible to just size up with normal swimwear (bikinis?). Thanks!!

I just sized up in normal swimwear with no issues.

Same. I could not find any maternity swim suits that were big enough and they were all from obscure sellers/brands that I didn't want to experiment with. Plus most of them were like off th shoulder or had skirts or stuff that did not seem v functional.

I ended up find something XXL on the target clearance rack and luckily it was a good color on me so that was that

You can definitely wear a bikini! I bought a one piece that is made for maternity and honesty I’ve only used it once, so I’m glad I went with a cheaper option and not some of the $50+ swimsuits

Currently 24 wks. Going to be 26 wks when needing a swimsuit and I’m getting all these ads on IG for maternity swimwear and I don’t know what’s legit or where the best place is to buy.

Where have you found your go to maternity swimwear?

Help me find a swimsuit!!

Posted by Emergency-Kangarooo · in r/findfashion · 1 month ago

I am looking for a particular type of swimsuit that seems like it should be so easy to find, but has actually proven to be impossible for me. I am going to be having a baby and then recovering at a beachside resort a week later, so I’m looking for a specific type of swimsuit that meets all of my needs. I can find so many things that come close, but nothing that checks all of the boxes, so maybe someone on here can help me!

  1. One-piece swim dress
  2. Built in SHORTS rather than briefs
  3. Wrap top or V-neck for nursing access
  4. Sewn in cups, not removable cups that shift around or get bunched up every time I nurse the baby. I did purchase Cakes, so if a suit has enough support without padding (or I just remove the pads) I may be able to get away with that.
  5. Reasonable support for large boobs. I’m somewhere around 36 H/I/J/K, which makes it so hard! I’ll be also chasing around my other 3 toddlers so I don’t want to be falling out!
  6. Not super form fitting on midsection as I will be ~1 week postpartum
  7. Dark color bottoms as I will still have some postpartum bleeding
  8. NOT halter, because the back of my neck always gets bruised

Is this a pipe dream? Do I need to start my own company lol? I really love the length and style of Land’s End and Duluth Trading Company swimsuits, but they’re all missing either the built in shorts or the nursing access. I currently have a high waisted skirt from Albion Fit that I love the style of, but the built in briefs are not working for me, and none of their tops have enough support for my boobs.

Would any of these work for you? torrid , miracle suit, summersalt , swimsuits for all, swimsuits for all

1 upvotes on reddit
Emergency-Kangarooo · OP · 1 month ago

Thank you for responding! I can tell you put some time in and I appreciate that. Basically, this is the same problem I have been running into. I have looked at hundreds of swim dresses online, and probably have looked at all of those myself, but they all have briefs rather than shorts underneath! I do really like the style of the Torrid and Miraclesuit and they would be perfect if there was an option for shorts…..but the built in briefs are a dealbreaker! Why is it so hard to find just ONE option?

what about a romper suit? I got a couple from magicsuit and they're comfortable, fairly modest without feeling frumpy, and easy to swim in.

1 upvotes on reddit
mintconfection · 1 month ago

Hm, I see. I did find a few more options to look through: wantdo, summermae, wantdo, hanna nicole (does have removable padding), bloomchic, arolina, smismivo, cvrge (has zippers rather than a vneck for nursing access, thought i should include them just in case)

I hope you find what you are looking for!

Maternity swimsuit for big boobs

Posted by kdlc23 · in r/PregnancyUK · 24 days ago

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent maternity swimsuit that's supportive enough for a big bust? Happy to pay a bit more for something decent as I swim every week with my toddler!

In my first pregnancy I ended up going with a bikini because I couldn't find anything that worked with my boobs but not feeling confident enough for that this time round (especially as I need it from the early stage of just looking a bit bloated rather than a proper bump 😂)

I was hoping bravissimo would do one but couldn't see anything on their website!

I tried so many different options and all were terrible IMO. Bump area was too long and big, cups were too small and no support. I ended up ordering a sized-up version of my regular suit from eBay and it worked great. Love Gottex Profile tankini with underwire and built in bra. Target has some cute bottoms that I paired with it.

Are you comfortable with bikinis? I got a couple of non maternity swim suits from jcrew on sale that worked great even in my 3rd trimester. They have bra size tops. I’m a 34d/dd fwiw and I found the tops supportive. For the bottoms their higher rise full coverage bottoms worked great. I tend to be in between sizes for my bottoms and I just went with the larger of the two. I liked that most of the options came in the same colors so that I could mix and match cuts and sizes for tops and bottoms. They were super comfortable and I didn’t feel like I was going to fall out of them (even when chasing after a toddler).

Maternity swimsuit?

Posted by goldenpie1618314 · in r/BabyBumps · 5 years ago

I'm due in late October, and I'm looking for some cute maternity swimsuits that are two pieces. I have a long torso that doesn't mix well with one piece suits, and I'd prefer to cover my bump. Most of the very cute suits I've seen online are only one pieces, and for some reason all the two pieces I've seen are ... boring? frumpy?

If anyone could provide recommended companies or brands, that would be wonderful! Thank you so much!

I just bought one from June Loop. It hasn’t come in yet but I’m super excited about it and they’re supposed to be great for pregnancy and after. Their Instagram @june_loop has a lot of very helpful tryons of all sizes with fit info on models, some of whom are pregnant. There are tons of pieces you can mix and match- I’m excited to try the adjustable bottoms. They’re very high waisted and will definitely cover the bump! They’re a bit pricey but it’s a small company and made in the US so I was willing to give it a try!

As long as they are low rise it's fine and on a lot of sites you can mix and match sizes for tops and bottoms. I did get a maternity tankini cause I thought I would need to be more covered but my normal bikinis looked great so I didn't wear it. Also got a bikini from pink blush and it was pretty good quality and comfortable.

Best swimsuit setup for pregnant women?

As an aside, her normal routine has been cleared by her doctor and she swam D1 so the pool and aerobic exercise is on the up and up.

Thanks!

best swimwear for pregnant women

Key Considerations for Choosing Swimwear for Pregnant Women

  1. Comfort and Fit: Look for swimwear that offers a comfortable fit with enough stretch to accommodate a growing belly. Adjustable straps and a supportive bust are also important.

  2. Material: Choose fabrics that are soft, stretchy, and quick-drying. Look for options with added spandex or elastane for flexibility and comfort.

  3. Support: Consider swimwear with built-in support, such as underwire or shelf bras, to provide extra support for the bust.

  4. Coverage: Depending on your preference, you may want a swimsuit that offers more coverage, such as a tankini or one-piece, which can provide additional support and comfort.

  5. Style: Opt for styles that make you feel confident and beautiful. There are many fashionable options available, from classic to trendy designs.

Recommendations:

  • One-Piece Swimsuit: The Speedo Women's Maternity One Piece is a great option, offering a supportive fit and comfortable material.

  • Tankini: The Belly Bandit Maternity Tankini provides flexibility with a two-piece design, allowing for easy adjustments as your body changes.

  • Bikini: If you prefer a bikini, consider the H&M Maternity Bikini, which offers adjustable sides for a customizable fit.

Takeaway: Prioritize comfort and support while also considering your personal style. Look for swimwear that can adapt to your changing body and make you feel confident while enjoying your time in the water.
