TL;DR
Brand Recommendations
Several users recommended Whirlpool for its reliability and design. A specific model to consider is the French door style with water in the fridge and ice in the freezer [4:2]. KitchenAid also received positive feedback, with one user mentioning their satisfaction with a model they have used for over two years
[5:3]. Bosch was mentioned as a good option, though it might be challenging to find service and parts
[4:3],
[5:4].
Ice Maker Preferences
For those interested in a refrigerator with an excellent ice maker, particularly the bucket type in the freezer, Fisher & Paykel was highlighted as a reliable choice [5:2]. Additionally, KitchenAid was again noted for having a satisfactory ice maker setup
[5:3].
Considerations and Tips
When selecting a refrigerator, it's crucial to measure your space accurately to ensure a proper fit [4:1],
[4:9]. Some users advised against purchasing certain brands like Frigidaire, Samsung, and LG due to reported issues with reliability and service
[4:4],
[4:5]. It's also beneficial to check Consumer Reports for durability information and consider purchasing from companies that offer both sales and service
[4:6].
Additional Options
For those with a higher budget, Miele was suggested as a premium option [5:5]. If you're looking for deals, especially around Black Friday, keeping an eye on Bosch models could be worthwhile
[5:6].
Before I tell the story I know that a best friend can have a different best friend.
So I was in class today and we had to analyze a reading and the title of the read was "The best friend question" so he says am I your best friend? I say, "yeah," and he says, "really?" To try to save myself from embarrassment, I say I have multiple best friends which was sort of a lie. Then I asked him if I was his best friend he gives me the so-so hand gesture. I felt awkward for a couple mins but we just went back to our normal selves.
I know friends can have other best friends and I need to remind myself that. It just kind of hurts a little when that person doesn't find your friendship as important as you do if you know what I mean.
Yeah that does hurt man. Try not to let it get to you and just keep living your life <3
Bro saw someone glaze Emilia and decided to try to make it to Broad level
Nahhh broad would write a 3 page essay
Okay, which one of you gave Subaru internet access?

Emilia: hm. Arigato. Subaru always say it as well. Hes reeeeeally a good boy.

My husband and I are buying our first home! We’re 24 & 26 and have never owned a big fridge before, only a mini one in our apartment. Our house we’re buying has no fridge and I’ve been trying to figure out what brand to get. I’ve been reading review after review and the signals are so mixed! Some people say a brand is great, then the next 20 comments say it sucks. It’s so confusing!
Our budget is around 2K. Please help. Which fridge should we get?
I highly recommend a Whirlpool, French door, Water in fridge, ice in freezer with scoop. Get the 5 year warranty from a place like Costco. The layout is really good as you don’t lose space in door for a water dispenser and the ice maker doesn’t freeze up on warm days. Reliability wise they aren’t awful?
That's what I bought over memorial day. So far no issues. Tons of space inside (31cf). I think Bosch is good, I have a Bosch dishwasher, but I understand it's hard to find someone who can service them and parts can be hard to get.
Don't buy a fridgedaire, Samsung or LG. Best thing to do is read the reviews
wait.. even LG is bad now? 👀
My LG is a pain in the ass. The air filter is in an awkward place, it over heats and freezes over both. There were coolant problems within 6 months, and even though I live within an hour of 2 large cities LG only had 1 licensed repair place who could do the warranty work. They took 3 weeks to come out and since then it leaks on the floor.
It always was
What would you recommend? I’ve been reading reviews all week and opinions are so mixed!
Whirlpool
There are lots of possibilities. Check out Consumer Reports for durability info.
One thing not mentioned so far (as far as I can tell): look into companies that not only sell but also service with their own employees. Abt is the big one in the Chicago area
Abt is huge and competitive with the big box stores.
You may have something similar where you live.
Go with whirlpool, amana some on here swear by bosh
And don't forget to MEASURE! I have a weird space where only 3-4 models currently made will even fit and it's a crap shoot which one to buy to replace. That said. I have a KitchenAid and it's lasted 15 years so far which is damn good for modern appliance. Totally agree with no ice dispenser in door and water nipple inside fridge with freezer on the bottom.
Measure the front of the space and the back wall space. My dad found out the hard way that the granite countertop wasn't square and got tighter near the wall. He decided to cut into the drywall to make it fit the 1/4 he needed. He used a panel of steel to seal the wall up.
Looking to see which double door fridge has the best ice maker, not the dispensing type but the bucket type in the freezer
We have Fisher & Paykel integrated and have been very happy with the freezer. It looks like your budget is a bit lower but something like this might work for you?
I have a kitchenaid that sounds like what you are looking for. I’ve had it for a little over two years and love it. Model KRFC704FPS
I'm going for Bosch
Do they have it across their whole range or a specific model?
I don't know. I've been eyeing model bosch b36cl80ens just waiting for a deal, maybe black friday.
Miele
Any jazz board fridge will be great. They are sold under several names, so shop around.
Okay, confession: I have this weird hobby of going down rabbit holes before buying anything. Be it headphones, laptops, or even a fridge...my friends literally ask me before making their own purchases. This time, my old fridge started giving up, and instead of rushing to buy one, I turned it into a full-blown research project (because apparently that’s my idea of fun on a Saturday night 😅).
If you’re also looking for a double-door refrigerator under ₹25K in India, let me save you the 30 tabs, countless YouTube reviews, and confusing spec sheets. I’ve shortlisted 5 solid options, each with its own personality. Think of this as “5 characters you meet when fridge shopping.”

If you asked me personally, I’d probably go with the LG 264L (because space always ends up being the dealbreaker) or the LG 242L for that long-term reliability.

Thanks for this OP. Was wondering if the below fridge crossed your research Haier 237 L, 3 Star, 8 In 1 Convertible, Twin Inverter Technology, Bottom Mounted Frost Free Double Door Refrigerator (HEB-243GB-P, GE Black)
What's your opinion on this fridge?
Yeah, that one did come up in my research. Honestly, it’s a solid pick if you want something practical + feature heavy without spending crazy money. The bottom-mount design is underrated (no more crouching every time you grab veggies), and the 8-in-1 convertible thing actually makes a difference if you need to switch up freezer/fridge space depending on the season. Energy efficiency is decent with the twin inverter too.
Downsides? Freezer doesn’t have a light (bit annoying at night), and Haier after service is a mixed bag depending on your city. But overall, for the price bracket, it’s pretty value-for-money.
Thanks OP
If anyone is looking, I just bought haier 335l bottom mounted refrigerator 2 months ago and its been a game changer. I never thought that a fridge could affect me so much but it's been a blessing using a bottom mounted refrigerator.
Do you have any idea about the aftersales service? Want to go for the haier bottom mounted one, but hearing lot of negative on service side
Didn't really look into it and haven't needed service yet but i researched a bit, if your fridge is opening a lot throughout the day, get the regular one.
I feel like once people switch, it’s hard to go back to the traditional design.
WEll you made someppls Diwali shopping easy(of refrigerator)...
LONG LIVE OP! AAPKI JAI HO! KEEP DOING THE GOD'S WORK
haha...thankyou😅
So you're looking to buy a fridge. Not exactly exciting, I know, but it’s one of those things you can’t afford to get wrong. Once it lands in your kitchen, you’re stuck with it for a decade or more. And with the number of options out there (different sizes, types, brands, features you’ll probably never use), it gets overwhelming fast.
This guide is just meant to simplify all that. I’ve put together everything you need to know in one place, based on how fridges actually perform in Indian homes, not what the marketing says.
Ideal for: Bachelors, couples, small families.
Why it’s still relevant: These are efficient, affordable, and nearly bulletproof.

Fridges don’t just eat up shelf space, they quietly chew through your electricity bill every day. That shiny BEE star label isn’t just for show. Here’s how it works, and what it means for your wallet.
Star Rating | Typical Energy Use (Single Door) | Typical Energy Use (Double Door) | Worth Buying? |
---|---|---|---|
5 Star | ~100–130 kWh/year | ~150–200 kWh/year | Best choice |
4 Star | ~130–160 kWh/year | ~200–250 kWh/year | Still good |
3 Star | ~160–190 kWh/year | ~250–300 kWh/year | Acceptable |
2 Star or less | 190+ kWh/year | 300–400+ kWh/year | Avoid unless free |
>
Factor | Impact on Power Use | Notes |
---|---|---|
Compressor Type | Major | Inverter > Rotary > Linear (LG's linear has a bad record) |
Insulation Quality | Medium | Better insulation = less compressor work |
Cooling System | High | Direct-Cool is more efficient than frost-free |
Add-ons | High | Ice dispensers, screens, smart features = more kWh |
Freezer Size | Moderate | Freezer uses ~1.76× more power per litre |
Term | What It Means | Why It Matters |
---|---|---|
Annual Energy Consumption (kWh/year) | Total units used per year | Lower = better. BEE uses this for ratings |
Adjusted Volume | Weighted total of fridge + freezer space | Helps compare different designs fairly |
Inverter Compressor | Compressor adjusts speed based on need | Saves energy + reduces noise |
Direct-Cool vs Frost-Free | Manual vs automatic defrosting | Direct-cool saves power but needs defrosting |
If your fridge runs 24/7 (which it does), every 100 kWh/year = ~₹700–₹800 per year. Over 10 years, that’s ₹7,000+. Pay extra upfront for an efficient model, it’ll save you more in the long run.
Another point of view: Most side‑by‑side models only let one half fully convert, so the freezer still occupies about 40% of the total capacity even when maximizing fridge space. Haier’s 3‑door convertible design is more practical: up to 83% of the volume can be used as a regular refrigerator while the rest remains a freezer, and, if needed, roughly 25% of that fridge space can be converted to expand the freezer from the normal space.
How's haier's after sales service for tier 3 cities?
Any opinion on Liebherr double door? <300L
Thanx for the post man
Nice
OP/Mod Sir,
Really Really Appreciate your help here in compiling all this. 👍
One Query - I am looking for a robust and efficient Refrigerator for Delhi Conditions (Humidity, Dust, Voltage Fluctuations, Rainy Season), should last at least 15 yrs with
My current Refrigerator is an LG FROST-FREE of Actual Capacity of 315 ltrs (Gross Capacity of 350 ltrs) bought in 2008….still working post 3-4 services (Relay, Compressor replacements etc), but seems to be on last stretch.
Any substantial help would be highly appreciated. 😌🙏
Well, after 8 years, my horrible Samsung fridge has finally said no thanks and the freezer is no longer freezing.
Would love advice on what brand to buy from--I'm thinking Whirlpool, Frigidair, or GE.
I had a French door which I kind of liked, but they don't seem reliable. Don't need a water or ice dispenser.
No, you don't necessarily have to go with the "uppity" brands. I've had good luck with Frigidaire.
Our Frigidaire (gallery) came with our house 10 years and it’s still running well.
My house is eight years old and came with all Frigidaire kitchen appliances. They're not even the Gallery model but have worked without a hitch!
Our Frigidaire fridge is several years old - nothing fancy, freezer on top, fridge on the bottom. Works just fine.
Built my house in 2019 and got a deal from Lowe’s on fridge and dishwasher. Fridge has been trouble free. A loose wire on the dishwasher was the only issue we experienced.
I have a basic GE fridge. It’s working great - keeps food cold.
My Samsung has given me the opportunity to learn several refrigerator repairs. Some multiple times; skill building. NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG REFRIGERATOR.
Samsung makes crap fridges.
Whirlpool bottom freezer, without an icemaker. I got the 18.7cf - I don't need a huge fridge and it has plenty of room.
edit: Amana is made by Whirlpool too, it's their "step down" with more basic quality. My sister got one and the only differences I see are the handles, (both attractive although the Amana's stick out more), and the door bins. The door bins are definitely better on the Whirlpool: they are clear so things are easier to see. The Amana's bins are solid white plus there is a butter bin which I find irritating...much prefer the additional standard bin that Whirlpool has.
Amana & Maytag often have a 10 year warranty on additional parts that Whirlpool lacks for whatever reason.
I love my Amana!
My wife did her research before we bought Whirlpool
I want to replace my Sharp 2 doors refrigerator that have been working for 15+ years. Im stuck with brand like Hitachi, Sharp, Toshiba and Panasonic brand which only available in my local market.
Any suggestions?
Those are the same companies, under 1 umbrella corp
I dont think they are the same tho
Hubby and I are looking into a new fridge, ours is a decades old top freezer/bottom fridge and just doesn’t have enough space for our growing family. We’re looking for some insight into what others have bought and love. TIA
Ok. Hear me out. Get a Bosch. They refrigerate so much better. No joke. 32 degrees keeps my produce and dairy and leftovers so fresh. Don’t need any bells and whistles. We have a Bosch 800 and it’s heaven. Well lit. Spacious. Refrigerates really well.
800 series also has separate compressor / evap for fridge and freezer. Better cooling and temp control for both areas. This is the best answer unless you go full separate fridge/freezer like a built in sub zero and $10k.
Regardless what brand you get, make sure to ask for extended warranty. Compressor dies frequently.
Some brands have water spouts that are too deep, glass doesn't reach, you need to use your hand
Check doors, to make sure they are soft close and doesn't slam shut
Indoor ice makers gets blocked frequently, and you lose space
Make sure it fits in your cabinet space, measure 3 times (or 5)
Consider buying separate freezer, and go for a smaller refrigerator
Make sure all sliding out shelves are split.
Ignore any gimmicky features: screen on door, door in door
The in-door dispenser was such a dumb idea. You'll always get water freezing where it shouldn't or ice thawing where it shouldn't.
> just doesn’t have enough space for our growing family
From somebody that doesn’t have a big family but has a drawer fridge and has been using it for a few years, I now think they’re overrated unless you go through frozen food fast.
But if you’re like me and you stash frozen stuff, you’re probably going to hate having to dig for stuff especially when it’s full. They really don’t fit as much stuff as you think they do, especially Costco sized stuff.
So my next fridge, no more drawer freezer for me. 😤
That was the first thing I thought of when we were thinking of replacing our side-by-side. It’s slightly more efficient to have the freezer on the bottom, but I don’t think it’s worth the hassle.
Do not get a Samsung!!
No Samsung!!!!!
best two-door refrigerator
Key Considerations for Choosing a Two-Door Refrigerator:
Size and Capacity: Measure your kitchen space and consider the refrigerator's capacity (typically between 18 to 30 cubic feet). Ensure it fits your storage needs.
Energy Efficiency: Look for models with an Energy Star rating to save on electricity bills. Check the estimated annual energy consumption in kWh.
Features: Consider features like adjustable shelves, humidity-controlled crisper drawers, ice makers, and water dispensers. Smart features (Wi-Fi connectivity, temperature control via app) can also be beneficial.
Cooling Technology: Look for models with multi-air flow systems for even cooling and frost-free operation to minimize maintenance.
Brand Reputation and Warranty: Research brands known for reliability and customer service. A good warranty (at least 1 year) can provide peace of mind.
Recommendations:
LG LSXS26326S: This model offers a spacious 26 cubic feet capacity, energy efficiency, and smart features. It has a sleek design and excellent cooling performance.
Samsung RF22K9381SR: Known for its innovative FlexZone drawer, this refrigerator provides versatility in storage. It also features a high-efficiency cooling system and a stylish design.
Whirlpool WRB322DMBM: A more budget-friendly option, this model is reliable, offers good storage space (22 cubic feet), and has a straightforward design without unnecessary frills.
Takeaway: Choose a refrigerator that fits your space, meets your storage needs, and offers the features you value most. Prioritize energy efficiency and brand reliability for long-term satisfaction.
