Active Use and Fit

For those who are looking for earbuds that can withstand physical activity, the Jabra Elite Active series comes highly recommended. Users appreciate their secure fit and bass-heavy sound, making them suitable for workouts and runs without falling out [1:1]. Additionally, the Beats Fit Pro is praised for its stability during exercise, thanks to its wingtip design [1:9].

Sound Quality and Noise Cancellation

If sound quality and noise cancellation are priorities, the Sony WF-1000XM5 stands out as a top choice. These earbuds are noted for their superior noise cancellation capabilities and excellent sound quality, rivaling over-ear headphones [3:3]. The AirPods Pro 2 also offer good noise cancellation and integrate seamlessly with Apple devices, making them a solid option for iPhone users [4:3].

Affordability and Value

For those seeking affordability without compromising too much on quality, Tozo earbuds are a popular choice. They offer active noise cancellation and decent sound quality at a budget-friendly price point [2:2]. Anker's Soundcore line also provides good value, with several users praising their battery life and sound quality [2:8].

Unique Features and Recommendations

Some unique options include the Shokz Openrun Pro, which are bone conduction headphones suitable for trail running and environments where situational awareness is important [1:6]. For audiophiles willing to invest more, the Beoplay Eleven offers a well-rounded sound experience with effective ANC and a strong microphone [5:1].

Considerations Beyond the Discussions

When choosing wireless earbuds, consider your specific needs such as comfort, battery life, and connectivity. It may also be beneficial to try out different models in-store if possible, to ensure they fit well and meet your sound quality expectations.

ORIGINAL POST

I LOVE listening to music but my gen 2 Airpods are starting to give up, i don’t care as much for noise cancelation, i’m just looking for a pair of headphones that i can run in and that will still look good/stylish on a normal day.

Edit: MOST of my usage is at home or biking to uni, but i want some esrbuds that I can also trust on a trail, mostly something that won’t fall off.

For running I've switched to clip-ons because they are open and therefore don't produce that "thudding" sound on every step. Currently the Soundcore C40.

Wow I have the Elite 8 Active Gen 2 and I hate them. The left one always wants to fall out. I hate that the default is hear-through and I have to change it in the app every day.

I love my Jabra elite actives. Also if you like music with heavy bass these absolutely rip. Also they’ve never fallen out of my ears while being active - they actually turn off when they’re almost accidentally wiggled loose after a long intense training sesh. Highly recommend these!

I bought Shokz Openrun Pro 2 after a reddit thread like this bullied me into it. They’re far too quiet to cope with urban noise but perfect on trails - like, proper gamechanger, what was I doing with normal earbuds. Might not be for everyone. You can try them out in many running shops

I use my Open Run Pro for everything but the loudest environments. On the trails certainly, but they work fine for work calls in my office, while driving etc. they do have a volume boost setting I use sometimes if ambient noise is high. Love for trails because some of the stuff I run on also has mountain bikers and it pays to be able to hear them coming and still listen to my audio books lol.

I use beats fit pro. The wing on one of them broke, I just superglued it back in place and I’m more careful how I get them out of the case now! They have awareness mode or noise cancelling mode, it’s very easy to change between the two. The sound is good (to me) and I think they’re fairly normal looking too.

Best Quality Wireless Earbuds

Looking for a high quality yet affordable wireless set of earbuds. Lost my AirPods regret that I bought years ago and don't want to pay what they're charging now for them.

Tozo earbuds with active noise cancellation. I adore them. I got them on Amazon for like $45. The fit, charging time and battery life, noise cancellation, and mic for phone calls have all been great.

Are they like this? My favorite earbuds were discontinued and my current pair are 5 years old, I was planning on replacing them with a pair of Tozo's when they break.

I have had two sets of Jlab Pops for a couple years and they're fabulous. I paid about $15 for each set. Got two in case one crapped out. They sound very good but certainly not great. Can't fault the durability. Their only real let down is the voice quality if you're using them for calls. For hiking around the city and woods they're perfect.

I also have a pair of their retro rewind headphones that are fabulous too. They're also less than $20 and good for people that don't like to jam headphones in their ears. The quality is as good as any of the 80s cassette player headphones they emulate.

I keep a bunch of those around since I got them for free and they're perfectly serviceable for spoken word content which is 90% of what I listen to.

But they sound terrible when listening to music and they're totally unusable for calls. A $30-40 set of Chinese brand earbuds will blow them out of the water in both respects, so someone who cares about music or using them for calls should probably spend a little bit more.

I bought these Sony Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds after a friend purchased them for her partner this holiday season. I had a trip to Canada last week and thought these earbuds would be great for the airplane trip.

The noise cancellation is fantastic. I also have pair of Bose over the ear headphones and the earbuds cancel noise just as well , if not better.

Sound quality is fantastic, as you would expect from SOny. In the Sony app (I highly recommend you download when you are your purchase) makes it easy to adjust the sound to your liking. The earbuds also have an immersive sound option and I feel like I am in a symphony surrounded by an orchestra.

Battery life is good. I used them for 4 hours straight (they are supposed to last 6 hours). When you place them back into the case you can get 3 more charges out of it. In 20 minutes (for a quick charge) you will have 2 hrs of battery life. That is perfect for my needs.

I really like the Technics AZ100’s.

I had the Sennheiser MTW3’s sound was very good, but out of nowhere they died on me within a year. Got a replacement set under warranty, these also died in about a year.

Got my money back from the Sennheisers and got the AirPods Pro 2. AirPods where quite good, but I wanted some buds that sit a bit deeper in my ear. Considered the MTW4’s. I don’t know, but it seems to me that there are some longterm quality issues with the Sennheisers.

So I got the Technics, which I’m very happy with.

Looking for Recommendations: Best Wireless Earbuds (2025 Edition)

Posted by imZeph_ · in r/Tech_Philippines · 7 months ago

I’m on the hunt for new wireless earbuds. I listen to music a lot, so sound quality is a must for me—good bass, clear audio, all that. But I also need something with a solid microphone for calls and meetings, because I use them for work too.

Comfort, battery life, and reliable connection are also important. If anyone’s got recommendations for the best earbuds in 2025 that cover both music and calls, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks!

Start with the beoplay eleven. It's well-rounded with warm sound, good anc, and excellent mic (for a wireless). If you want something audio quality-focused, there's the akg k3003i, although it sacrifices on mic and has no anc.

The Best Wireless Earbuds at the Moment?

Posted by miachartreuse6029 · in r/Earbuds · 1 month ago

I’m thinking about getting a new pair of wireless earbuds, but there are just so many options that it’s hard to know where to start. Some people swear by AirPods, others go for Sony, Bose, or Sennheiser, and then there are a bunch of budget options that seem pretty solid too.

So I’m curious what earbuds do you actually use and love? Is it the sound, comfort, battery life, noise canceling, or something else that makes them your go-to?

Depends on your priorities. Are you using them for calls? Are you working out with them? How important is ANC?

FWIW I recently did an analysis on reddit data on earbuds. Basically ranked them according to aggregated sentiment. Maybe you'll find the results helpful https://redditrecs.com/wireless-earbuds/ You can filter by ANC and for comments about sound quality, calls, or the gym and get a breakdown of what ppl have said about the most often recommended ones (disclaimer some links are affiliate they help fund the analyses)

If ANC is in the mix, then the leaders in ANC are still Bose and Sony. None others yet compare in that ragard. Though they're slowly catching up. Why is that? Well both these powerhouse brands pioneered the tech and have been at it a lot longer.

The Sony XM4 or XM5 are very good. However, with the XM4, I and many others, experienced a battery failure after one of the updates. Sony hasn't acknowledged the fault, but they were repairing them like crazy for a while. I don't think XM5 has the same issue. A factory reconditioned pair of xm4 would likely have new batteries, and be a bargain compared to retail price, which has of course fallen since the release of xm5.

Out of the box, the Sony left something to be desired SQ wise. A bit too bassy for me and lacking in treble. Not surprising. Fortunately, it EQs very well in the companion app, and the sony headphone app is top of class. The app tests your hearing, how well they're sealed in your ear, and helps you find your EQ sweet spot in minutes. A lot of other companies, which should also have great companion apps, really suck. Will say that the Sony earbuds make a funky noise when running/jogging, like thumping. I don't know why exactly, but they've never fallen out and do stay in place. Something to consider of you run.

If ANC is low on your priorities, and sound quality is highest, I also liked Bang & Olufsen (EX), and Master & Dynamic (MW08, MW08 Sport). The charge case with MW08 is really nice, and they offer a better sweat/dust rating if gym use is preferred. With the B&O, I hate the elongated mic styling akin to Apple, but that's a personal preference. And since all my devices, from phone to DAP offer LDAC (32-bit/96Hz), and LDAC is a Sony code (although other brands like Hiby offer it as well), I prefer the Sony earbuds. Bose earbuds (and their headphones for that matter) sounded slightly unnatural/metallic to me with ANC, but the ANC was slightly better than Sony, and were a good fit.

Airpod Pro's are great but very delicate. I've been through 2 sets now after dropping them they start making weird buzzing noises. I got myself some Technics AZ80 and they're better than Airpods imo. They're more comfortable and better sound quality.

Sound quality, the Technics AZ80, Denon Perl Pro, and Sennheiser Momentum 4 TWS (with Sound Personalization), in that order. The M4s Sound Personalization is essentially an automated parametric EQ; which will produce a superior tuning to the typical 5-band EQ available on most TWS.

I lean towards the M4, as it competes closely with the XM5s and APP2 for ANC and transparency, making it the best value. Sennheiser’s app is relatively solid compared to many competitors.

Fit wise the M4s can be very hit or miss. They’re near perfect for me, but they’re different than your typical bud or stem style TWS. The AZ80s are probably the most comfortable, trailing right behind the Beats Studio Buds+ or XM5s. Nothing quite matches the Beats Fit Pro for fit and security. However, I find the M4s and AZ80s very secure.

I’ve probably tested nearly a dozen TWS over the last year. I’ve lost count. None of them are perfect. If money is no object, nothing beats the iFi Go Pods with a dedicated IEM, or even a Q5K coupled with a custom cable (for length). The Go Pods with any midfi IEM is going to surpass most of the TWS on the market. Although many of the above sets do a very good job. In the gym, the Go Pods can get a bit unwieldy, but everywhere else they are rock solid (given the inherent security and fit of an IEM and its ear hook).

I second this. AirPods Pro 2 in the apple ecosystem with its insane software augmentations honestly nearly matches traditional decent analogue equipment. And they provide all that with that amount of comfort and ease of use (no need for space to carry iems dacs and dedicated players which are often not the best phones to daily drive). I’d love to listen to music through traditional means at home, but if you are in the ecosystem even that can be covered rather decently with AirPod maxes

I have the pro. They are fine. Far from the best. Sound is ok not great. Water proofing is ok not great. They may stay in your ear but not as secure as other buds. I do like the pass through technology they use so it doesn’t feeling like ear plugs. It works well enough with Apple phones but not significantly better.

I think the jabras are better by far on sound and mics if you use to then tot all. Sonys are even better for sound (music).

I heard some of the technics at Axpona this year. They are the best Bluetooth in ears I’ve ever heard. Take this with a grain of salt because I don’t go around listening to high end Bluetooth in ears and I didn’t go around trying others. My experience with higher end Bluetooth in ears are limited to Jabra Elite series, beats fit pro, and the Sony WF1000mx3 or mx4 I don’t recall. Can’t say much else than they sounded fantastic for Bluetooth earbuds.

Looking for the Best Wireless Earbuds

Posted by Ronin_0_7 · in r/Kuwait · 5 months ago

Hey everyone,
I’m in the market for a solid pair of true wireless earbuds and could use some help choosing.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

  • Primary use: iPhone (for music, Instagram reels, calls)
  • Secondary use: Watching movies on my Asus laptop
  • Sound preference: I enjoy good bass, clear mids/highs, and immersive sound for movies.
  • Comfort: I usually wear them for long periods, so comfort matters.
  • Bonus: Good mic for video/voice calls and strong ANC would be a big plus.

I previously owned airpods pro 2, now looking for an upgrade. Budget is flexible if the quality is worth it.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan in advance!

If you are using an iPhone, I would suggest getting the Nothing Ear (2024) , I have been using the Ear (a) and it has worked wonders for me so far. The noise cancellation is on point. If you want something from a more well known brand, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are also really good. Depends on what kind of phone you use. If it is an iPhone, the AirPods Pro are the best bet for the ecosystem experience, else the other two I have suggested will work great. LHDC and Hi Res codecs are supported too

If you want to stay with Apple, I can tell you that Pro 2 is night and day different from pro 1. I just upgraded to pro 2 and gave my pro 1 to my daughter. The pro 2 has much punchier bass and other cool functions. I’ve noticed that I have to keep pro 2 at 60% to have the same loudness of the pro 1 at 80%.

By the way I have found the measurements of the Pi7. Pi8 sounded very close to that and gave me the same feeling. They could be great after the compensation though. https://imgur.com/a/LiZX1Rx

I don't like it's tuning. They are high quality but weird dip on high mids and raised lows makes the music I know sound way strange

What Is The Best Wireless Earbud Right Now?

Posted by its-creator1036 · in r/Earbuds · 1 month ago

Hey!

I’m looking for wireless earbuds that are comfy for gym workouts and also good for calls. I go to the gym a lot, so they need to stay in place, not hurt my ears after a while, have a decent mic, solid battery, and be sweat-resistant. I’ve tried some cheap ones but they either hurt or had bad call quality. Budget’s flexible if they’re worth it. Any solid recommendations?

Thanks...

I have the same guidelines.

This design is best for the gym:

soundcore Sport X20

These types are the most comfortable, you don't feel like you're wearing them, they don't fall out, the only downside I've always had was that they weren't very good for phone calls - what is important to me :(

A shape like the Buds 3 Pro is better for calls.

But the next ones I buy will probably be over-ear ones like Sport X20.

I have a few recommendations. The best all-rounder may be the Status Pro X that's releasing soon if you're willing to wait about a month. Swipe and tap controls, good audio quality, good mic, and IP55 dust and sweat resistance - so a safe option for gyms. It's currently on preorder for a discounted price of it catches your interest, reviews are coming out and it looks pretty good

Otherwise, I use the JBL Tour Pro 3 for my gym workouts. Super comfy for me, IP55, great sound, top tier noise cancelling, and good mic. This one's unique because you can plug in the case via USB-C or headphone jack into whatever and stream it directly to your earbuds with a little better quality than normal and with low latency. Case also has screen.

For more budget option, look into the OnePlus Buds 4 or 3 Pro, they're great too

Ive been hearing alot that they are quite big.... do they not fall off your ear or become unconfortable after a while?

It's weird, they feel like they might fall out, but they don't. I've worn them at the gym regularly, on hikes, etc. No discomfort unless it's been like the whole day. I guess the oval foam eartips + the shape fit me really well.

I have finally settled on the Shokz open dots ONE open earbuds. I have literally spent my whole life searching for these bad boys. Open buds so they don't cut me off from my surroundings. Still have great sound quality. Great mic for phone calls. Battery that lasts all day. I am seriously in love with these little powerhouses! I keep putting my Bose aside for these guys!

best wireless earbuds

Key Considerations for Choosing Wireless Earbuds

  1. Sound Quality: Look for earbuds with good audio performance, including balanced bass, mids, and highs. Brands like Sony, Apple, and Bose are known for their sound quality.

  2. Battery Life: Aim for earbuds that offer at least 4-6 hours of playback on a single charge, with a charging case that provides additional charges for a total of 20-30 hours or more.

  3. Comfort and Fit: Choose earbuds that come with multiple ear tip sizes or adjustable features to ensure a comfortable and secure fit, especially for extended use.

  4. Noise Cancellation: Consider whether you want active noise cancellation (ANC) to block out ambient noise, which is particularly useful in noisy environments.

  5. Connectivity: Look for earbuds with Bluetooth 5.0 or higher for better range and stability. Quick pairing features (like Apple's H1 chip) can also enhance the user experience.

  6. Water Resistance: If you plan to use them during workouts or in rainy conditions, check for an IP rating (like IPX4 or higher) for water and sweat resistance.

Recommendations:

  • Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Generation): Excellent sound quality, effective noise cancellation, and seamless integration with Apple devices. Battery life is around 4.5 hours with ANC on, and the case provides additional charges.

  • Sony WF-1000XM4: Known for outstanding sound quality and industry-leading noise cancellation. They offer about 8 hours of playback on a single charge and have a comfortable fit.

  • Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro: Great sound quality, good ANC, and a comfortable fit. They also have a decent battery life of around 5 hours with ANC on.

  • Jabra Elite 75t: Offers a customizable sound profile, good battery life (up to 7.5 hours), and a secure fit, making them great for workouts.

Choose based on your specific needs, such as whether you prioritize sound quality, battery life, or noise cancellation.
