TL;DR For investment and collecting, focus on booster packs that are less hyped but have potential for growth. Consider sets with unique or rare cards.
Investment Potential
When considering booster packs for investment, it's crucial to focus on those that are currently undervalued or not widely discussed. The hobby often runs on hype, and sets that are not in the spotlight may offer better investment opportunities [5:2]. For example, Paradox Rift has been mentioned as a sleeper set with decent hits
[4:1],
[5:8].
Rarity and Print Runs
Booster boxes with limited print runs can be particularly valuable. Destined Rivals is noted for its rarity due to potentially limited prints, similar to Team Rocket Ex [5:3]. Sets like Obsidian Flames, which feature popular cards such as Charizards, are also considered promising due to their unique card offerings
[5:5].
Market Trends and Reprints
Keeping an eye on reprints and market trends is essential. Paldea Evolved was recently discovered to have a reprint, which could affect its value [5:9]. While it might be a safe bet for small investments, it may not see the rapid growth of other sets like Fusion Strike or Evolving Skies
[5:10].
Collectibility and Sealed Products
Sealed products, including booster box cases, are becoming collectibles themselves. Cases are often seen as more secure against fakes and provide peace of mind to new collectors [4:3]. It's important to consider buying sealed cases from reputable retailers to ensure authenticity and potentially lower costs compared to individual boxes
[4:7].
Recommendations Beyond Discussions
While these discussions focus on Pokémon and general collectible card games, similar principles apply to Yu-Gi-Oh. Look for booster packs with unique mechanics or cards that are likely to become staples in competitive play. Additionally, sets featuring iconic characters or themes (like "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" or "Dark Magician") tend to retain long-term value.
Literally was about to post this - did the same for me except a Steel card. But still counts as the rank and suit it was before.
It's just a bug that sometimes seems to happen and sometimes doesn't, but gameplay wise it doesn't affect anything whatsoever
It happens if steammodded is enabled.
ohkayyy that makes sense!
It’s a bug with steammodded as was said, but you can turn it back to normal by using Devil or any other enhancement on it. Depends how much it irritates you to waste a taro on this though
It goes away if you just reopen the save too I think
This only happens when you have steammodded installed
Oh dang, so it's not even in the vanilla game then
Yea I was about to say, "I'm not fallin for that one again."
Really? Does the rank still count for scoring tho?
Yes
Visual bug only
Int/fth is the one of the best builds in the game..... If you have 80 int and fth.
Yes, it's really best in long game, double scaling catalysts out scale everything even at 60/60(at least what I tried)
I have like 40/40 or 44/44 or smthn like that on my int/fth character and it's pretty good
edit: 42/46 for ghostflame explosion and black blade
Also heed my warning, dont try to do this at new game plus, I committed to a 80 dex 80 fth build with kinda high strength for a great shield along with pretty high mind and endurance for specific weapons and oh my god the amount of albanorics I have killed to make this build work. 3000 albanorics have died and I STILL NEED 40 MORE LEVELS END MY SUFFERING
Still more going for it than Int/Arc with its whopping TWO spells.
Two mid spells, two mid catalysts and not a single proper weapon without infusions.
On one hand I wish int/fth was better in ER on the other hand the balance between hybrid int/fth scaling and everything else was so fucking shit in DS3 it feels like ER definitely has it better when everything except int/fth is good instead of the opposite
On god i need my demon scar back bro, int/faith in elden ring is literally only sword of night and flame, everything else fucking sucks unless you're like level 250 on ng+😭
Yeah, pyromancy was THE int/fth build, a shame fromsoft decided to cut it.
Staff Of The Great Beyond and cast anything you want.
Only your spell slots can limit you.
Close enough, welcome back Black Witch's Staff from DS2.
Int/faith fell off hard from Ds3 to Elden Ring so pure faith could get the glow up that it deserved.
Now that guy on Twitter can quit his day count for this card. Poor guy, he’s been asking since it happened, I’m happy for him until he see’s the attributes.
All I ask is for one of the following:
HRD pack
All-Star Week Rare guaranteed pack (it does exist, reward in Prediction collection)
Signature Series Choice Pack
95% certain we’ll see one if not two of these, but I can envision a scenario where all of the unique, valuable packs are replaced with a plethora of deluxe packs with one Ultra thrown in there as a “fine, you can have this” bone. I’m hopeful the corporate greed this year doesn’t translate to a classic part of DD, but I can’t guarantee anything until the rewards are collected.
It'll be base packs and deluxe pack. You can bet on it
Edit... Forget what I typed. They actually have good pavks
That guy on Twitter who was asking for JT Cycle card happy asf 🥺
Buxton deserves a cycle card wtf
There have been 350 different players who have hit for the cycle in mlb history, we can’t give everyone a card for it. Plus he had a derby card
Start asking the show twitter now. You might get one by next year 😆
Yet no Buxton cycle card!
This map has a ton of hidden rewards so far, it's awesome!
That one guy on twitter has to be going nuts right now

Hey going to a card show this weekend, any advice on what booster boxes you might target? I have a few thousand I’m ready to spend so I was thinking of going heavier into paldea evolved or lost origins booster boxes. Maybe even twilight masquerade that’s a sleeper
Surging Sparks have no business being $250 a box. Paradox rift is a sleeper. Journey Together got overshadowed by prismatic and destine rivals but if you really look at it, there are big hits and chase cards in that set and at $250 is also a low risk and high reward. Obviously these are my opinion and you can’t really go wrong with some of these if you are looking at a 3-5-10 years hold :)
Do you mean that you think surging sparks should be higher? Also how do you feel about buying a surging sparks case instead of individual boxes. You’re the second person today to tell me paradox is a sleeper, what’s the logic behind that? Seems like a set with lots of decent hits to me, only big one is Groudon. Also thoughts on Paldea Evolved? You think it’s past its growth period or nah?
a booster box case is just six booster boxes in a cardboard box. there’s really no reason it should be more expensive than 6x a booster box. for most of pokemon it would be normal to get a discount on a case because you’re buying 6
There's a couple factors to consider. Just like booster boxes themselves are collectible, I think we're seeing high-value buyers eye cases as their own collectible now, too. If someone should ever open the case, there's a good chance the boxes inside are mint. New people to the hobby also like the peace of mind that comes with a sealed case, since cases have a lower chance of being faked. If you buy cases from retailers like Dave & Adam's, Blowout Cards, etc., they are usually cheaper than six loose boxes.
Minor callout on the final sealed booster box case table - have to be careful here, because older BB cases are so illiquid, comparison time frames get messed up. For example, the $1,600 Rebel Clash case is based on a last sold from TCGplayer in January, its actual value is probably 1.5-2x that by now. Anyways, I’m just a details nerd, I’m sure you’re aware! Amazing analysis 👌
Totally. Can definately put that as disclaimer thus why I stress this is from Tcgplayer and also why I only display from sword & shield era. Purposely cut out sun and moon and older eras. Sealed products are collectibles in itself.
For sure man. Please keep this up! It is literally the #1 post I look forward to every month in the Reddit Poke-sphere
You need to rely on eBay data for sealed booster box cases. Es cases easily go for 15k+ which tcgplayer only shows as 12k
Insane effort mate. Have you got any date on say UPCs or collection boxes?
I was just wondering what would be the best booster boxes to currently invest in now? Trying to expand my collection and currently want to get some booster boxes that will rise in value soon. All the images I attached are some I’m interested in! Thanks guys!
Buy the ones no one else is talking about. This hobby runs on hype and most sets get thrown into the spotlight at some point
Yep, go in on those that are cheap now and wait for them to hit their spike and collect.
i’ve been telling people obf flames is the wave🤷♂️it’s legit charizards set with crazy char cards and amazing other alt ares and IRS
Paradox rift and Temporal forces BBs are plentiful and rrp at the moment. Picked up 2 of each.
Me. Bought one last week. I think Destined doesn’t see a print like say prismatic or 151. Team Rocket Ex hardly had a print run, maybe something similar is happening with Destined.
$300 for a one time printed booster. I’ll take it.
Paldea Evolved, or I’d look at Brilliant Stars/Chilling Reign.. completely undervalued imo
Paldea Evolved reprint was just discovered lol
Def no reprint, or at best some lingering discovered product. I have back orders from distro on every set and yeah I’m not the biggest but I’ve gotten obsidian and twilight before.
Either that or Rudy got access to it all and no one else lol
Paldea booster boxes 100%
Brilliant Stars
Paldea is a safe bet for a small investment and will slowly increase but not much to chase in the set! Wont see the growth like fusion, evolving skies or even lost origin and 151
I think its more about the rarity of finding a booster box of DR over the actual value per pack
I am trying to get into modern Yugioh but im not sure where to start buying. Which booster pack has the best current cards at the moment?
I recommend not buying booster packs unless you're just wanting to open packs. It's almost always cheaper to just buy single cards instead.
That being said, if you're deadset on building from sealed product:
3 of the Albaz Structure Deck is a good start, is the core of a strong deck, and gives you good staple cards.
Burst of Destiny has Floowandereeze, which comes at low rarities and is an interesting deck. It also has Swordsoul (which are almost all high-rarity), and support for old archetypes like HEROs.
The Grand Creators has the Adventure Token cards (very capable of being added to several decks), Exosisters (an Xyz focused archetype that punishes your opponent for using their GY), and P.U.N.K. (a fun Deck, and a strong engine)
In terms of upcoming product:
Power of the Elements, which comes out in August is going to have Sprights and Tearlaments, which are both anticipated to be a huge change in the metagame.
the 2022 Mega Tins in September reprint a bunch of good staples and has reprints of many cards that came out from Blazing Vortex to Burst of Destiny. This will likely lower the prices for many more expensive cards.
I just recently opened grand creators, what adventure cards should I look out for?.
Context: Currently running a P.U.N.K deck and wanted some more cards, got 1 amazing dragon and essentially nothing else I wanted
If you're wanting to get the Adventure Engine, you need 3 Water Enchantress of the Temple (an Ultra or Collector's Rare), 3 Rite of Aramesir (the core card of the archetype, also an Ultra or Collector's Rare), 1 Fateful Adventure (again, an Ultra or Collector's Rare), 1 Dracoback the Ridable Dragon (a Rare), and 1 Wandering Gryphon Rider (a Super Rare, also an omni-negate).
It is pricey (like, over 200 dollars for the engine) and very high-rarity, but it's also very strong in decks that don't need their Normal Summons.
What the other person said. But if you're like me and just like opening packs then you might want to wait a few weeks for Power of the Elements to come out since it will be a meta warping set with lots of cards that should end up with high trade values.
Yea I enjoy opening new packs, plus I do enjoy collecting so i was looking for a booster pack that is playable while also just getting other cards along the way. Thanks for the heads up about new booster pack coming out!
^ What they said. I pre ordered an entire case for Power of the Elements cuz its going to be that good.
Do not buy boosters to get a deck, buy the cards individually, thats way cheaper and yoi can be certain to get the stuff you need
Buying packs is the rip off. Buy singles from a site like cardmarket(EU) or tcgplayer(US)
Do not buy booster packs to make decks. You are literally effectively gambling when you do so. I cannot even begin to explain how much you shouldn't do this. Buying booster packs should be done solely for the experience of opening them, rather than in the hopes of getting good cards.
The cheapest way to get a deck is to choose a structure deck that you like, get 3 of it, and use the ~120 cards you've gotten to make a deck. This should give you most of the core cards for an archetype, and a few meta hand traps or other non-archetype cards as well. The recent Cyber Strike and Albaz Strike are both decent options (Albaz gives a good basis for making a much more meta deck, so that'd be my recommendation). You can either stick with that newly constructed deck if you're playing casually with friends, or supplement it with cards from the final method.
Buying singles online is the most common way of building decks. The most common site is TCG Player, which has systems in place to protect you as a buyer. If you're looking for a strong option to build through singles, Floowandereeze is relatively cheap to build outside of the quick play spell and Empen (Rest of the deck is like probably ~$75, with 3x of the QP and Empen being probably $50 by themselves).
Buy them from TCGPlayer or cardmarket and never from ebay tbh, they are the best sites for the secondary market. You can see many offers for individual cards, so you can pick out the cheapest offer yourself. Buying boosters will definetely cost you more money.
Do research on decks and how much they'll generally cost you, test them out on a simulator like EDOPro and find something you like, then pick up the cards on sites like Cardmarket or TCGPlayer.
Don't know where you are, but if you're in Europe then I know that Cardmarket is used over there I believe.
Why would you ever use this? Stat sticks are already awful at even 3 mana, and this guy’s stats aren’t even that impressive compared to other 4-costs. This thing is only slightly better than Kangaroo, and that’s only because Kangaroo has effectively 1 health due to the self-bounce. The other options either have better key words, an actual useful ability, or both
and the award of most useless zombie card this year goes to..
Id argue some other are worse
Firefighter zombie
He shouldve been 7 7
and also make a bonus attack when played
Hearthstone reference by any chance?
gasp... urayuli
Zombies with no abilities need to have higher stats to compensate
That's a very nice outfit actually. Look at him go!
Pretty great when you get him conjured from the cosmic all star dude

Good stuff OP. Going forward, one needs to account for different issues arising from pack scanning. For instance, a WPP detector is like 20$ and you can scan any loose packs before scarlet and violet with it. How does this affect loose packs prices vs. Booster box prices? What about scanning using a CT scanner? At 75$ a scan maybe only booster boxes are worth scanning? Is the resolution present ina CT scanner to scan a box, or is it limited to individual packs? Just some things to consider for next time. They are hard to account for, but are worth considering.
Talk to me dirty about the technical analysis. How are you pulling, parsing, and calculating the data 😇😇
Problem with TCGplayer is that they only give you a years worth of history.
You can get all the prices infinite-api.tcgplayer.com and knowing what the product number is. That link won't work but you can find a working one if you monitor your network thing in inspect element.
Bit of webscraping, python, and you can just scrape the data from there. Is it worth it? Someone should bloody do it. I would be very surprised if no one has and hasn't thought of a better way.
Haha I’m not doing anything fancy. Just extracting the price on 8/1 and comparing the price to 9/3 (yesterday). Then you get % change . Everything straight from TCGplayer. Not much manipulation of the data.
Let me know what else you want to know. Will help or divulge as much as I can. Nothings a secret :)
Great stuff here OP - keep with this
Further confirms Paradox Rift booster boxes are one of the best deals right now.
Expect the PSA 10's from Paradox Rift to start climbing quick. Which in turn will incentivize more people to rip and ship the set, depleting supply further.
I was just wondering what would be the best booster boxes to currently invest in now? Trying to expand my collection and currently want to get some booster boxes that will rise in value soon. All the images I attached are some I’m interested in! Thanks guys!
Surging Sparks imo. I haven't seen product for it in ages and low-key, I think they may be done printing it
I don’t disagree that it’s a good investment but they announced a reprint for it months back. There are Costco bundles coming for it soon and a little while ago booster boxes were popping up on Target and Amazon
Done? The set is not even a year old, print runs usually go for 3 years. There will 1000% be a reprint
Yeah they keep restocking the ETBs and Booster Bundles but the Booster Boxes seem to be one wave around Christmas/New Year.
Done printing less than a year old set is crazy thinking
Mate the set was only released November 24. They’ve just confirmed another print run of Paldea evolved which was released June 23. The set is far from being out of print
I’d avoid DR for now as will likely get reprinted which should tank the price a bit
When has a reprint of any recent set had a last impact on Booster Box prices?
What do you think of Astral/brilliant stars/chilling reign?
Chillin - should also be over $1000 in 2027 Brilliant Stars - will definitely be over $1000 as well
Astral Radiance - has always had less interest from people so would probably be $800-$900 in 2027
JT, twilight, surging are the ones I’m looking at rn, everything else has made its run
Lost Origin, Fusion Strike & Brilliant Stars over everything else you’re considering.
thinking of buying a booster box, immortal destiny or chaos impact which one should i buy? i occasionally buy booster boxes in order to collect some new cards, sometimes i sell the rare ones which are worth a high amount.
btw what are the pull ratios of the prismatics in chaos impact?
Immortal Destiny will be better than Chaos Impact. Unless you are a die hard watcher of Vrains, DO NOT BUY Chaos Impact. The only short print that has reasonable value is Seyfert and the Abomination spell. But those are like 2 per case, and don't even cover the box price. Absolute lottery set. Stores are putting CHIM on clearance.
The Special Edition and Mega tins destroys any value from the Vrains sets, period. Any foil you pull from it will it have to be traded in before next August. Immortal Destiny is realistically going to go up from here. But I recommend buying during Lost Arts.
If there is a box I recommend you pick up now, is White Dragon Abyss and Sisters of the Rose at MSRP. Those boxes are slowly disappearing off the market and the cards are spiking.
Edit: I was wrong about prismatics it's 1 in 25 boxes.
Immortal Destiny can make your money back if you pull Aduster Gold or Malicious Bane, but everything else is pretty much pennies, and those two cards are extremely rare. Chaos Impact has more cards that are worth anywhere between $7~$38 so it'll take a few good pulls to make the money back, but much safer imo.
You could also wait for Mystic Fighters to come out, give it a few days to see what's short printed in the US if you live there. These cards usually tend to get expensive, both because of the waifu tax of dragonmaids and there may be little overall sales of the product. (cause none of these archetypes were good in the OCG)
I don't remember the exact pull rate for prismatics, but it is absolutely not one per 52 cases. It's more along the lines of one per case.
Edit: In Konami's official announcement video of prismatics in Rising Rampage, they say that they are roughly 50 times more rare than Secret Rares. Secret Rares are 2 per box, so 24 per case, so prismatics are roughly (or maybe exactly?) one per two cases.
Dude if it was 1 per case the world would be flooded with thousands of them.
Anyways, Konami disclaimed the ratio themselves when Rising Rampage first came out.
I am just curious. Was I really extremely lucky to pull adjusted gold and malicious bane in both in only one box?? I mean of course I was mind blown because I knew they were expensive, but it is This uncommon???
A lot of people have reported opening multiple boxes without a single Bane in any of them.
cases as the box of 12 boosters? that's crazy
If it were me, I'd buy neither and save the cash. I think the only booster box worth buying is soul fusion if you can find it.
Dark Neostorm is pretty solid too.
Although I'm sure the price for Ghost Sister has tanked since DUDE.
DO NOT BUY Soul Fusion. Everything from it got printed from it in the mega tins. The ultra Thunder Dragons are worth a lot less than the Prismatic Thunder Dragons. And the Ultra Thunder Dragons are short printed so you will pull a ton of Cyberse Clocks and Galaxy Links which is bulk.
I'm a bot, bleep, bloop. Someone has linked to this thread from another place on reddit:

best yugioh card booster packs
Key Considerations for Choosing Yu-Gi-Oh! Booster Packs:
Set Popularity: Some sets are more sought after due to powerful cards or popular themes. Research current meta trends to find which sets are in demand.
Card Rarity: Booster packs contain different rarities (Common, Rare, Super Rare, Ultra Rare, Secret Rare). Packs with higher rarity cards can be more valuable.
Collector's Value: If you're a collector, consider sets that include iconic cards or have nostalgic value, such as "Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon" or "Phantom Darkness."
Playability: If you're looking to build a competitive deck, focus on packs that contain cards relevant to the current meta. Sets like "Phantom Rage" and "Eternity Code" have introduced strong cards for competitive play.
Price and Availability: Check the price of booster packs and consider buying in bulk for better deals. Some retailers offer discounts for larger purchases.
Recommendations:
"Phantom Rage": This set includes powerful archetypes like "Zoodiac" and "Eldlich," making it great for competitive players.
"Eternity Code": Known for introducing strong cards like "Accesscode Talker," this set is highly regarded for both playability and collector value.
"Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon": A classic set that is perfect for collectors and contains iconic cards like Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
"Hidden Summoners": This set features unique archetypes and is popular among players looking for new strategies.
By focusing on these considerations, you can find booster packs that suit your needs, whether for competitive play or collecting.
