Performance and Cleaning Capabilities
The Dyson V15 is highly praised for its performance and cleaning capabilities, especially for those who vacuum frequently or have pets [1][2][3]. The laser head is particularly useful for cleaning up pet hair and the sponge vacuum head is perfect for wood floors [1][2][4].
Battery and Charging
Some users have concerns about battery degradation and fast charging, but it is recommended to keep a spare battery instead of using fast charging [2].
Filtration and Adjustability
The HEPA filtration standard for the Dyson V15 Detect captures particles 0.3 microns and larger [2]. The red slider on the bottom of the cleaner head can be adjusted for easier use on carpet [2].
Alternatives and Pricing
The Dyson V15 is expensive, but it is of high quality and cleans very well [1]. The V10 animal is a good alternative with good suction and a discount available currently [1]. The LG A9 is also suggested as an alternative option [4]. The V15 is currently on sale for $100 off at both Dyson and Best Buy [3].
Cordless vs Corded Vacuum Cleaners
While Dyson is a popular choice for cordless vacuum cleaners, it is not necessarily the best option [5]. Other recommended brands include LG and Ryobi [5]. Corded vacuum cleaners are generally more powerful and have longer lifespans than cordless ones [5]. Some users prefer corded vacuum cleaners for their longevity and lack of battery issues [5]. For those with pets, a corded vacuum cleaner may be a better option [5].
Additional Considerations
Consider your specific needs and usage patterns when deciding whether the Dyson V15 is worth it. If you vacuum frequently or have pets, the V15 may be a good investment [1][2][3]. However, if you prefer corded vacuum cleaners or have concerns about battery degradation, a different option may be better for you [4][5].

Hey guys I'm thinking of getting the dyson v15 and just wondering anyone here have it? And is it really worth the money
I have it and I even reviewed the V15 Detect on my site (in French).
« Is it worth it » really depends. Dyson models are expensive, you can get an excellent vacuuming experience for much less money according to The Wirecutter. They also rank Dyson products they reviewed here to know « what's worth it » according to them.
But I think they nailed the portable vacuum this time. Up to an hour of battery life is more than enough, the gamification that the laser brings makes it really fun to use. Sadly, the data collected (size of dust particles) is not « actionable » - again, it's just fun to watch.
Curious to see what the other Redditor think.
Edit: spelling.
If u ask me, totally worth it if u want to vacuum often. Like I vacuum daily for cat hairs. Or if u have carpet in your house (the torque cleaner head is very thorough). It’s expensive but it’s quality and cleans really well. Also on hardfloors it’s anti dusting better then normal vacuum heads. Also it’s fully air sealed which typical €150 regular vacuums aren’t.
I love mine. I have a 3 bedroom 2 bath house that is all hard floors with 2 small dogs. I vacuum daily to keep the hair and dirt at bay. I found that it does a better job cleaning my 3 rugs than my 5 year old corded vacuum ever did, and the laser head is fantastic for the dog hair.
I have one for my 2 bedroom, hard floor apartment. It's amazing and actually makes vacuuming enjoyable.
I got the Dyson for the sponge vacuum head which is perfect for wood floor.
What's your apartment like?
It depends. If you want the suction, go for it. If not, I suggest getting a v10 animal (it has a $150 off discount right now) as its suction is really well overall. I live in a large-ish house and the v10 does not leave me not disappointed (though the battery life is rather short). If you want, you can buy some extra v15 heads like the laser one if you want that vibe because from what I heard, they are compatible together.
Background: This is my first dyson. I am coming from Shark vacuums- most recently the corded Apex Uplight stick vacuum and a robot vac. I have 2 cats and live in a one bedroom 850 square foot apt w/ mostly simulated hardwood flooring and a couple of rugs. I take pride in havi...
In regards to battery fast charging, that would absolutely obliterate Dyson batteries amazing lifespan. Their batteries last many years, adding fast charging would cut that in half at least. It’s not good for batteries. Just keep a spare battery around.
Also, the HEPA standard usually means 0.3 microns filtration minimum, which is the standard across every modern Dyson cordless. The newer blue filter is 0.1. Both meet the HEPA definition.
New to the Dyson game, does having the vacuum on the charger when not in use degrade the battery though?
>Their batteries last many years
Like, how much are talking here? I was under the impression that pretty much all batteries of vacuum cleaners are pretty much dead at the 2 years mark - sooner if you use it a lot.
Another thing that really annoys me is degradation... I think 6 months in you can already start seeing differences between a brand new battery.
You sound pretty positive, what's your experience on this?
i had the v7 before this so i knew about what to expect. holy hell this blows those expectations away. i have 4 dogs and some old ass carpet so ill never get my carpet clean clean but it pull up a lot of stuff. i haven had any problems moving the vacuum around on carpet like you and a few others reviewers have mentioned, even with the carpet head set to full suction and boost mode is used.
Glad to hear you like it! I love mine. If it’s too stiff on carpet try opening the red gate on the cleaner head to the minis sign. That will let more air in and will be smoother. In terms of the filtration it captures 0.3 microns and larger. Make sure you rinse that filter once a month and let it air dry fully
As mentioned by headstock, for carpet you'll definitely want to avoid using 'eco', and instead shift the red slider on the bottom from either + or neutral as this will reduce the effort to push without reducing power
for quick charge just buy a second battery. personally I found that after initial use I never use it for so long that I run out of charge. usually just a 5 min or 1 min job here and there
Filter is very good, no allergies. however I haven't found any issues with the filter not being HEPA. I thought it was already HEPA to be honest
It’s the HEPA standards, they have changed to 0.1 micron hence only the new filter has the HEPA label now. Used to be 0,3 micron so Dyson did market the HEPA label in the past.
also new. have mine since 5 days. first time in my life i look forward to cleaning. recommend it!
Yeah it is awesome. Vacuuming has become less of a chore with this dyson
As the title states, I'm about to pull the trigger on a v15 to upgrade my 20 year old Electrolux my parents gave me when I moved out. Currently in a 2 bed/2 bath apartment with a mix of hardwood and carpet but looking to get into a house before long. No pets yet, but a fiance th...
I have the V15 absolute. Can't recommend it enough. I wish all attachments came with the laser 😃 Manoeuvrability is great. Suction is ample. Display shows some fancy stuff and easy to configure.
I have the standing dock as well. Haven't decided on avwall to mount so I like hanging it whenever..
I've a cat. Tangle free attachments are tangle free indeed. No issues. Easy to clean, take apart..
If you don't need the large capacity and extra power for carpet cleaning you can save with V12.
V15 is not the lightest but certainly not the heaviest.
Go for it.
I wish Dyson would come up with wet products as well. I got dry/wet Bissell. Returning it because it's bulky and doesn't maneuver easily...
Just picked up the v15 from the Dyson site. This will replace my wyze cordless. Going to be night and day.
No regrets with my V15. Works great every single time. It’s $100 off right now on Best Buy
If you have hard floors, the green laser on the v15 is game changing.
It looks like it’s also $100 off at Dyson. I have a code, consider it your engagement present. :) I’m new to Reddit - can you dm me so I can give you the code?
UPDATE: I pulled the trigger on the V15 Detect, with the intention to return/downgrade if I didn’t think it was worth it. I absolutely love it. For my needs it is perfect. Hopefully it will last a very long time. I take good care of my gadgets, so if I can get several years out o...
I love my Dyson V11 torq drive. Does a great job. Only negative is they don’t last long. I am on my 2nd canister, and 2nd body. All covered under warranty. Dyson stick vacuums I think do a great job, just not reliable long term. But I will always own one in my vacuum arsenal. Pull the trigger on the new V15. You will love it.
I love some Dyson sticks and not others. We have a v8 in use for spot cleaning we got on sale, and it’s great mostly. We have a v11 which is pretty good as a main vac (70% carpet, two floors), but are on the second motorized cleaner head (replaced under warranty—they rattle and get harder to push or pull after several months used weekly). It does pull lots of dust out but isn’t durable enough.
they are super pricey and the stick models aren’t up to primary vac duty even though they market them that way and make them bulky and vertical now … more stick than dustbuster role I guess.
I see Dyson vacs as potentially good sale buys and would be leery of overspending. They clean well and are well designed usually, and I keep buying them.
I almost bought the v15 because of it being an "investment," I am SO glad I didn't. I am obsessed with my vacuum.
if you have hard floors the laser fluffy head included with the v15 is amazing. which is worth more the 80euro imho, and dyson agrees selling it for $200 separately.
I really wouldn't buy any of the Dyson hand vacuums after the V8 if you're trying to use it with the accessories.
The newer designs are too bulky and heavy to really use with their accessories. So I'd recommend going with a V8 if you plan on using it for your sofa. You might also consider the LG A9 if it's available.

Hey,
I'm planning to get my very first cordless vacuum cleaner, because my regular vacuum cleaner is just taking up too much space and effort to use it. I'm also planning to get a pet so I'd need to use it much more often than now. I've always heard Dyson is the king of this c...
Dyson has never been "the winner" Here's a guide of some of the top cordless machines you'll notice Dyson's not even top 5 https://youtu.be/XLYZLO2mQ_I
lol shilling your own videos. Can I ask how you had rated the Dyson v15 in 2020?
21" of working vacuum It's exactly the same as the v11 mark 2 https://youtu.be/UOTIFBHQkKk
I'd recommend you know the Dyson story. My video but not told by me. Told by Tom G. The curator of the Missouri vacuum museum. https://youtu.be/aKyusPUr0lE
Our Dyson cordless picks up so much fur. We have 2 dogs and 5 cats and it’s fantastic. I think we have the V11. Never had an issue with it in the 3 years we’ve had it.
I’d recommend the LG A9 over the Dyson, but if you’re only going to be using the cordless I’d rather recommend a more usable corded machine.
This sub is almost as bad as home theatre. Somebody has a specific ask and everybody chimes in recommending what they already said they didn’t want.
OP it’s Dyson, LG, or maybe the new Ryobi stick if you are in their battery eco system and more price conscious.
Because when you’re spending $500+ you would want to know your options and the downsides. Cordless vacuums have their place, but the truth is they don’t have the power, longevity, or capability of a corded machine.
This sub is meant to educate people and get them the best product. If they look at the cons and decide cordless is still good enough for them then that’s perfectly fine and a legitimate choice. At least they knew about the market as a whole before purchasing.
I seriously think the sub is full of vacuum shop owners with low foot traffic and dwindling sales.
With an incoming pet, go corded.
I have a dog and a hatred for vacuuming. Corded vacuums only work better if you use them. I prefer my Dyson 100% and feel like it does a fantastic job. I vacuum wayy more than I used to with a corded vac. Plus works great for furniture and cars. About to sell my old refurbished one to get the v12 one with the laser. Buy what you'll use!
Why do you say that? I can already see myself being lazy to use that because I have to assemble it and deal with a cord.
Simply because they are better machines. And cords are long enough so you can do a whole room without having to move the plug to a different socket.
Long term: no dying batteries to replace.
is the dyson v15 vacuum worth it
Here are a few key considerations
Suction Power: The Dyson V15 has a powerful suction that can pick up even the smallest particles, thanks to its advanced laser technology. This makes it a great choice for those with allergies or pets.
Battery Life: The vacuum has a battery life of up to 60 minutes, which is longer than many other cordless vacuums on the market. This allows you to clean your entire home without needing to recharge.
Filtration System: The V15 features a HEPA filtration system that captures allergens and small particles, making it a good choice for those with allergies or asthma.
LCD Screen: The vacuum has an LCD screen that displays real-time information about the battery life, filter maintenance, and performance.
Price: The Dyson V15 is on the expensive side, so it may not be the best choice for those on a budget.
Recommendation: If you're looking for a high-end cordless vacuum with advanced features and powerful suction, the Dyson V15 may be worth the investment. However, if you're on a budget or don't need all the advanced features, there are other cordless vacuums on the market that offer similar performance at a lower price point. Ultimately, it depends on your individual needs and budget.
