Wasn't Michael because I know Jason and Sonny taught him how to shoot better than that. Should be Scout because he's alienating her from her family and mentally abusing her. Will be Willow and she'll get off on temporary insanity and sent to Ferncliff.

I think Michael saw Willow go into Drew's place and watched.....he feels sorry for her so maybe he won't rat her out......second guess is Jacinda......she shows up right when this happens???

Should be: Portia. She’s been on the verge of losing her sanity for months.

Most likely: someone disappointing.

Most interesting if: Aunt Stella.

Most dumb: a non regular character like Jacinda.

Definitely wasn’t: Alexis. She’s already covering up too many crimes.

There are times of year that are more popular to plan to have a baby but the day-by-day variation is mostly doctors scheduling births on their own and their parents' schedule.

It's why Christmas is not a popular birthday and why 9/11 is a less common birthday than 9/12 or 9/10 for anyone in the US born after 2001.

Here's a cool gif where you can literally see the weekends of the year each year. You can also see people avoiding Christmas/News Years but then a sudden burst of births in early January.

For me, it's "My Sharona."

Depends what you want to get out of it. If you just want a handful of popular figures to make a shelf of GiJoe in a collection room then any of them would do the trick.

Vintage 80's: The collection of kings. This is the true answer, but in 2025 it's a tough recommendation due to prices and how fragile the stuff can be at times.

Modern: This is your value. The hype is gone and they haven't hit peak nostalgia yet. This is the stuff releasing from around 2000 to 2020. Killer deals and hidden gems abound in this era.

Current: Classified can be intimidating with almost 200 figures but that also means there are tons of very nice characters readily available. Sure you need to sell your children to afford the vehicles, but you didn't ask about price, lol.

12" scale: "Dad???"

Shhh...don't let the secret of Modern out. Even the prices of the 2002-2006 era are starting to get slightly stupid. I'm building an army of Spy Troops and Valor/Venom BATs which no one seems to like.

What shows do you think will still be running in 10 years?

Posted by DashinBashin · in r/Broadway · 2 months ago

What currently running shows on Broadway do you expect to still be kicking in 2035?

For reference, only 6 shows that ran 10 years ago are running today, but that could be more or less.

My personal answer is I think we see Wicked, Lion King and survive, but those are the only ones i currently see surviving that long but i could be convinced Chicago and Hamilton can manage that

Just focusing on the long-runners (5 years or more):

Sure Bet: Wicked, Lion King, Chicago

Almost Certainly: Hamilton

Could Go Either Way: Book of Mormon

Seems to be entering the end of its life cycle: Hadestown, Aladdin

No Shot: Cursed Child, Moulin Rouge

163 upvotes on reddit
DEClarke85 · 2 months ago

My votes are Wicked, Lion King, and Chicago.

I think for Chicago, just for posterity, they’ll keep it running until it is the longest running show in Broadway history. It’s already the longest running American musical in Broadway history, but it hasn’t taken the crown from Phantom. Yet. Once the show has done that, I imagine they’ll keep it going as long as possible after that to try and build an unbearable legacy. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I could see Hamilton and Book of Mormon losing steam or keeping open for another 10 years. I think those are toss ups, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them still running in 2035.

I’d move Wicked to “definitely” though, especially after the novies.

Hadestown has had times it’s struggled including recently. I believe they supposedly hit the clause where the theater could kick them out if it chose to. As much as I would love it to last I’m not sure how likely it is.

Hadestown really hasn’t broken into the zeitgeist like Wicked, Hamilton, Lion King, and Chicago.   It’ll run for a while but at some point the tourists will stop coming and it’ll close.

AccidentalAllegro · 2 months ago

Definitely wicked and lion king. I think Chicago as well, they are dirt cheap to run and in an undesirable theater.

I’d put Hamilton and BOM at a maybe. Both still sell well and BOM is really the “I need to take a man to Broadway” show. I could also see Six transferring to an off broadway location and having similar success to the play that goes wrong.

386 upvotes on reddit
Aggressive-Phone6785 · 2 months ago

ooh forgot about BOM, that’s a good candidate as well. I could see Six running for a long time at a smaller off-Broadway with stunt casting like Little Shop

I really hope Hadestown has a long successful run, so that's my want for this list. I feel like Chicago, Lion King, Hamilton, and Wicked will run as long as Phantom, if not longer. The themes for the latter 3 continue to be topical and people will feel drawn to them over other shows because of that.

130 upvotes on reddit

Minnyappleus · 2 months ago

The themes! Great point on why these might be around yet. I don’t think the theme of feeling different and defying limitations is going anywhere anytime soon. Although I could MAYBE see them rework Wicked’s staging at some point… or test a new set and staging on a tour.

On Mezzanine (theater Goodreads basically) the five most watched shows are:

  1. Wicked
  2. Six
  3. Hamilton
  4. Moulin Rouge
  5. Hadestown

However this of course skews towards shows that are currently playing (or else they couldn’t be logged) and are generally easier to find. For example, it doesn’t include shows like Les Mis, which literally brands itself on being “still the world’s most popular musical,” and I’d say is probably infinitely more popular than a show like Six.

Another way to do this could be the five longest running shows:

  1. Phantom of the Opera
  2. Chicago
  3. The Lion King
  4. Wicked
  5. Cats

But is Cats actually popular? Eh. Also popular with who? The average person? The avid theater-goer? The theater kid? The answer would change with each group. How do you really judge popularity? If I had to pick, the most popular shows, in no order, are:

Hamilton, Les Mis, Wicked, The Lion King, and Phantom of the Opera

All for being shows both well known outside of the theater scene, but also reasonably well regarded in it.

11 upvotes on reddit
Spirit-Starlight13 · 3 months ago

Mezzanine also, I think, has a younger userbase, so newer shows that are more popular with younger musical theater fans are gonna be listed as more popular

Which show will draw a bigger crowd after the Tonys?

Which shows do you think will get the biggest post-Tony bump either because of actors/shows winning awards and/or their performances at the show? I’m generally interested broadly, but there are also a few Tony-nominated shows I’d still like to see, and it doesn’t seem possible to see them all before the Tonys

Hard to say.

Winning Best Musical typically gives a show the strongest long-term boost, especially for newer or less established productions. A Strange Loop and Kimberly Akimbo both saw modest but noticeable ticket bumps after their Best Musical wins, even though they weren’t blockbuster hits before. For a newer show, this win legitimizes it in the eyes of tourists and group bookers. So if/when Maybe Happy Ending wins, it should strengthen sales for a bit and maybe help it sustain when the original cast moves on.

But the most memorable performance on the telecast can steal the spotlight. If a show brings the house down during its Tony performance, even if it doesn't win big, it can generate the most immediate surge in ticket sales. Beetlejuice and Six are good examples. Beetlejuice didn’t win anything significant in 2019, but its high-energy number got people buzzing and drove up demand. Same with Six. Despite relatively few wins, its televised number sparked widespread interest. Who will benefit from that this year? Dead Outlaw and Death Becomes Her are my best guesses if they pick the right songs to perform, but hard to say.

Established hits don’t always gain much. A show that’s already a box office smash (Hamilton, The Book of Mormon, Hadestown) doesn’t need the Tonys for commercial validation. Remember Lin-Manuel Miranda in his Carpool Karaoke talking about how he wasn't worried about the Tony's like he was for In The Heights because, "Hamilton is fine. It's selling fine." The awards may cement its prestige, but the sales were strong beforehand. In those cases, the Tonys act more like a victory lap. We don't have that this year. MAYBE if Groff wins Best Actor that would be an example of a Tony win not having much of an impact. Hard to sell better than Just in Time is currently selling. But could you imagine if Jasmine Amy Rogers pulls off an upset? A win could extend the life of that show by 3-6 months.

Long way of saying Don't Know, We'll See.

mopeywhiteguy · 3 months ago

I thought the six performance was rather underwhelming and somewhat mechanical. It was really showing the wheels in motion, partially due to seeing that number performed so often. I’ve spoken to people who have played in the band before in years gone past and they felt similar things before they left. Believe it or not the Mr Saturday night performance that year was my fave because it felt like the only one with life, Billy crystal going out into the audience made it feel different to the others which didn’t have the same rawness.

As for this year - I think dead outlaw has the biggest potential for growth and impact. It seems a bit of an underdog now, but it depends if the pick a good out of context song or if they choose something like killed a man in main but have to change lyrics to make it broadcastable and it might lessen the impact. I think they’ll do “dead” while having the coffin/dead body visible and then maybe go into a medley to show him singing because I think a big selling point is seeing that the actor is really standing motionless and it’s not a dummy

DBH seems to already be selling well and that will have a healthy your life and is gonna be so popular amongst regional and community theatre when it becomes available, but I do think it could nail the tony performance.

I’ve only listened to MHE once but none of the songs really stood out on that listen, it feels quite contextual. Do you think this could have an impact on the Tony’s performance?

Another great example of a strong Tony performance making an impact was gentleman’s guide. It stayed open for an extra year I think because of the Tony’s, the performance was one of the highlights of the night and honestly maybe a top 25 all time Tony performance

3 upvotes on reddit
LetsGototheRiver151 · 3 months ago

Oh I forgot about that TERRIFIC performance from Gentleman's Guide. Definitely extended the run of that show.

I think MHE is supposed to do Rainy Day We Met, which is one of the better numbers and showcases how cute the show is. The win will boost it more - like KA which did a really blah number for the Tony's, but it won so who cares. The win extended the life of the show by about a year.

While having a huge fan base (including myself) who literally helped keep it alive at the start, MHE has only recently been selling out.... primarily due to it's Tony nominations.

A win would solidify these ticket sales for the long run.

It may not need the "post-Tony bump" as much anymore but, it would still benefit from it.

Are Long-Running Shows Like Wicked Still Considered Part of the 2024–2025 Broadway Season?

Posted by Live_Ad_5093 · in r/Broadway · 4 months ago

This might be a basic question, but it’s something I’ve been wondering about: for long-running shows like Wicked, The Lion King, or Chicago—are these productions considered part of the current Broadway season (like 2024–2025)? Or are they seen more as "legacy" shows, kind of existing outside the typical seasonal conversation that new shows are part of?

I know that new shows get grouped into a season for awards and critical discussion, but does Wicked technically count as part of every Broadway season it's open? Are open shows considered to be a part of every season?

Would love to hear how others think about this—especially from folks who follow the industry closely.

Typically the Broadway season refers to new shows that opened during the eligibility period. E.g. shows for this season opened between May 2024 and April 2025

Additional_Score_929 · 4 months ago

Nope, only shows that open during the "season" - so shows from last season like Hells Kitchen and The Outsiders are not considered a part of the new season, same goes for the longer running shows like Wicked or Hamilton.

Wicked is only part of the 2003-04 season.

Nope, a show is just part of the season it opens in. So when people say "the 2024-2025 season" they're usually referring to anything that opened after the last Tony cutoff date.
