TL;DR Penny loves Melons, Poppies, and Diamonds. She dislikes Rabbit's Foot.
Favorite Gifts
Penny has a few favorite gifts that players can give her to increase friendship levels. She loves melons and poppies, which are relatively easy to grow during summer and fall respectively [2:4]
[3:1]. Additionally, Penny loves diamonds, making them a valuable gift option if you have access to them
[3:7].
Gift Strategy
To efficiently manage gifting in Stardew Valley, some players recommend planting a large number of poppies to ensure a steady supply for Penny [2:2]. This approach is particularly useful for completing quests like the Qi 50 loved gifts challenge, where late-game convenience is prioritized
[2:3].
Disliked Items
It's important to note that Penny dislikes Rabbit's Foot, contrary to many other villagers who love it [5:1]. Avoid giving this item to Penny if you want to maintain or improve your relationship with her.
General Tips
For those looking to maximize their gifting strategy across all villagers, creating lists or guides can be helpful. Guides often include drop-down menus for cooked items showing required ingredients, which can simplify planning [5:4]. Using resources like the Stardew Valley wiki or community-created spreadsheets can save time and effort when deciding on gifts
[5:3].
Where’d she even buy that?! However, I’d be happy with that gift. Sweet. 😊
Probably from Linus or that dwarf and told Penny it's magic beans lmao
I don’t think she’s that gullible. I think she just thought it would be neat to see what they grow.
They are in the middle of Green Rain, she probably stepped outside and caught one.
I'm doing a run right now where I cannot buy seeds from anyone, so mixed seeds are a precious commodity. I'd be very pleased with that gift!
I love the tag... "She probably thinks she's still broke..." as it was said in an enduring way.
Vincent gives me clay for Winter Festival. THANK YOU VINCENT. You tried. I give you snails, so who am I to judge?
Right, who am I? Sort of like when Sebastian asks for Wheat so he can throw it as hard as he can against the mountain face... Here you go sweetie, give it your best toss.
I'm tired of this clay hate. Clay is a useful, practical gift. Unlike that useless tea set everyone's obsessed with.
Clay makes sand castles in an aquarium too!
Love Penny
That has to be one of the most chaotic inventories i've ever seen.
Twas a quick run to the updated dungeon and it was my first time! Thought it'd be easy so I didn't mind bringing everything I had but I was MISTAKEN lmao
When it comes to Penny I just plant a metric fuckload of poppies and by the end of the season I have a steady supply of the good good to keep her happy.
I love this guide! There are a few things I would personally rank as easier, but this definitely covers a bunch of great options.
A few suggestions:
Vincent loves grapes, which imo are simpler to get than pink cakes (and a repeating crop)
Robin loves spaghetti, which can always be bought at the Saloon
Haley loves sunflowers, which imo are simpler to get than pink cakes, especially because they grow over two seasons
Chocolate cake is on the simpler side of recipes, and is loved by Jodi, Evelyn, and Abigail. As long as you have a chicken and the recipe, you can buy the sugar and flour. This one is definitely the most arguable—I find crystalariums are hard to get before Y3 since they require iridium, plus the diamond regrow time is fairly long.
This guide does make it clear who the real picky ones are! Alex and Pierre imo are the hardest to get loved gifts for, and they have the most complicated diagrams here.
For me I prioritized making simple groups of gifts, hence why Haley and Vincent have pink cake, because you can just grow a bunch of melons and make a ton in one go. TBH this is more designed around the Qi 50 loved gifts quest, so late game convience is what i was going for. Also, If i could i chose things that could get quality ratings, hence why I picked crops and fruits if i could.
Also worth noting that Penny loves straight-up melons, which is just pink cake but easier.
ngl I didn't know she loved diamonds until this post, and I have married her three times on three different save files.
Yeah - and I don't get why Demetrius gets strawberries but Maru gets diamonds, considering that they both like strawberries.
Vincent also loves snails, and you'll get tons by dropping crab boxes into freshwater, such as the pond on your farm.
Lewis also loves blueberries, which is a repeating crop as well
How to get a daffodil:
Step 1: Aquire a daffodil.
Step 2: Use daffodil to create seeds.
Step 3: Plant seeds.
Step 4: Harvest a daffodil.
Well yeah, thats the best way to get daffodils lmao. But yeah it is kinda dumb.
A character added in the 1.5 update who you can find on ginger island
How do you get the island?
I have the lists of best gifts I was wondering if any one knew a way to make a list that covers everyone's favorite gifts with the least amount of items?
I keep rabbits in a coop. Since I take good care of them, they drop Rabbits Foot somewhat regularly. All villagers love them except Haley; however, she loves coconuts, so a quick visit to the desert to forage will stock you up for a while.
Of course, if you don't have the bus or rabbits unlocked, it can be a hassle. Visit the saloon regularly to see the special meal that Gus is selling each day, and buy a few each time. This is especially useful for ones that require out-of-season ingredients or that you don't have recipes for.
I think it's actually penny who doesn't like them, not Hailey?
Whoops, you're right! I had them mixed up. Penny loves melon and poppies, which can be grown in summer and fall respectively. She likes dandelions and leeks, which can be easily foraged in spring, and also likes all milk.
I'm assuming the Golden Pumpkin, Pearl, Prismatic Shard, and Rabbit's Foot are banned items for this problem. There's multiple correct solutions. Here's a way to do it with 17 items:
(Favorites for 14. Wizard, 15. Sandy, 16. George, and 17. Alex are excluded from the above list since none of their loved items are shared by any other villager. Aka, pick whichever loved items from each of these four villagers that you want.)
If diamonds are too pricey, here's a way to do it without the diamonds using 18 items:
This is amazing!!!!!
Chocolate Cake, Diamonds, and Daffodils cover most of them.
or you could just use universal likes but that’s an expensive way to go
This is my first playthrough, it took me about 3 years to finish up the community center and get to the point I was ready to settling down and marry Penny.
After our 14 heart event, I decided to give a Bouquet to everyone else, so I could get everyone up to 10 hearts.
The day after giving Penny's best friend Maru her Bouquet, Penny congratulated us; which was quite a pleasant surprise.
DISHONOR. Dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow
Yeah, that's fair, Penny deserves someone better than me.
No sad feels in Stardew. You’re a great husband lol.
You do realize you don't need to have them at 10 hearts for it to count as maximum friendship? As long as you are married and have 14 hearts with your spouse (or Krobus if you go that route) then you don't need more than 8 hearts, and it also doesn't decay.
The Pelican Town polycule grows stronger every day.
The Pelicule if you will
Pelicule Town??
I knew Penny is freaky but not this level of freaky. Girl wants threesome.
I wish a biblical plague upon your farm.
Like many of us, I have struggled FOREVER with sorting out loved gifts for the villagers. I usually use a combination of the wiki and images that kind souls here have shared.
Today, I started the >!'50 Loved Gifts' Mr. Qi!< Challenge, and just decided to make a Google Sheets with my most gifted options for all the villagers. Three hours later, I realised I may as well share the fruits of my labour with you lovely people!
Here is a link to the document - you can view it with that link, or alternatively you can make your own copy. Bachelor(ette)s are in bold, and there are 5 columns of gifts. First column is Rabbit Foot (and Pearl for Penny), the others are organised so that gifts covering multiple villagers are easier to spot.
I have also set a filter view, though I'm not sure if it'll appear for everyone or not. Either way, with the filter you can arrange by alphabetical order for villagers or gifts.
I hope this helps you all as much as you've helped me in the past!
just a heads up, i’m pretty sure Jas is the only one who actually hate’s ‘rabbit foot’ :) this guide is so awesome tho! i always find myself referring to the wiki like 10000 times during that challenge
Thank you! I’m glad it helps!! It’s definitely Penny - I say this as her wife, but I also double checked to be sure!
Penny hates rabbits foot
Oh!! Also, anything that’s a cooked item has a drop-down menu where you can see the ingredients it needs!
You’re amazing, thank you for sharing this
Thank you! I hope you find it useful 😊
i made this simple gift guide for myself so that i don’t have to spend so much time on the wiki lol. this is my lazy and simple gift guide with only things i often have/can get easily. if someones loved gifts are too out there or cooked recipes i don’t want to do then i just put liked gifts instead. the people with the red hearts are the friday night salooners i can ambush weekly. thought i’d share :3 ♡︎ i wanted a gift guide that was as easy as possible
For me, what I typically do is:
The ones with a * can always be bought from Gus at the Saloon, so once you have decent cash flow, it's easy
My go to for Penny is melons! I’m definitely using this going forward
i just always have diamonds on hand because of my crystalariums so if any townie loves diamonds thats my go to!!
I used to do this too, until I started making A LOT of fairy dusts for my cellars and ran out of dianonds pretty quickly 🙃
Abigail loves pumpkins too
Abigail, Krobus, and Willy all do. That's usually a key item for me when I'm working on relationships.
I like it! Maybe make it one tall image so you could keep it up on your phone while playing.
so true!!! i will
Eggs?
As in 'Can I offer you a nice egg in this trying time?'
In my last run, I ended up with a lot of pale ale and beer which I didn't know what to do with, so now I just have a large stack to hand out at random people when I run into them. Most of the Stardew Valley villagers like free beer, I'm at six hearts with most of them now. Sebastian gets upset and hides in his basement.
Which gift either in a loved or hated way shocked you the most. I’m doing a challenge where I’m trying to give every single villager every single item in the game because why tf not yes I’m insane. So on birthdays I get a stack of 34 of an item ik the birthday person will like. Example it was Penny’s birthday so I spent the day giving out 34 poppies…
WHY ARE POPPIES A UNIVERSALLY HATED GIFT WHAT?? Oh my god I was shocked like not ONE person (minus Penny) LIKES POPPIES WHY and I thought it would be a nice gesture to Kent cuz yk BUT NO HE SAID HE WAS TORTURED WITH POPPIES WHAT😭💔
When I first started, I picked up some driftwood off the ground and was carrying it around and came across Leah, and I accidentally gave her it when I was just trying to talk to her. I was expecting her to hate it, but nope, she loved it. Just some random wood off the ground, lol.
I loved her for this because it was reminiscent of one of my favorite HM games (MFoMT), where one of the bachelors likes branches off the ground. Every day I’d grab one and think, “can’t forget to bring my big dummy boyfriend his daily stick”
I'm playing a modded game. Stardew Expanded makes Morris a giftable NPC.
Lewis asks me if I have any blueberries. I give them to him and they aren’t “loved” gifts. I’m disappointed I put any effort into finding that damn geezer
I always just give him a pepper if I’m going into town. He and Shane both love peppers and the plant produces tons of them over a season.
I'm pretending that I'm giving Lewis progressively hotter and spicier peppers, like producing the hottest pepper I can at home, only watch him not be able to reject the pepper but also having stomach problems because of how hot it is.
I don't like Lewis.
Milk was at least changed to a neutral gift in 1.6
he's a proper NPC that you can befriend in the stardew valley expanded mod! in vanilla, you've pretty much seen everything morris has to offer lol.
For a guy who wastes my time reciting an ode to cave carrots every time I need bombs, you’d think they’d be one of his loved gifts.
This one was super upsetting for me because I thought I’d given her Amethyst and was so confused when she said she hated it 😭
I usually have one of the mods that change his loved gifts from beer to Joja Cola after his six hearts event. So I kinda always forget that that's not vanilla haha
Oh, probably, and it makes sense she likes it since she's a forager too, I was just surprised because iirc the game classifies driftwood as trash, so I wasn't expecting anyone to actually like it as a gift.
This is missing the two most important details.
Shane brings a genesis
Abigail brings a SNES
Thanks so much for this friend! Hard work appreciated!
Np! Enjoy!
Why do they have such strong opinions about rocks? 'Hates quartz'
Minor edit: for sandy daffodil is listed as both a like and a love; it is a love
Thank you!
Very good improvements!
Thanks!! All wonderful suggestions made to me!
I want to sooo bad, but I’m ab to divorce her
That's such a great idea!
Love what you did with the power books, definitely stealing that idea
my girlfriend is a museum educator and used their 3D printer to make me a bookmark😭 she hasnt even played SDV and we're long-distance so she hasnt seen me play (i have it on switch)
she doesnt know much about the game, just the concept of moving to a small town and inheriting a farm, etc.
she took it upon herself, chose a random but honestly perfectly fitting item, and made this for me just because🥲
So sweet 😭 get her a mermaid pendant asap
oh i'm planning on marrying her so hard
Yall love at first sight Def spend that 5000g
Please tell her that her nails are looking so amazing omv. Also the way she delivered the message is adorable treasure her she is amazing
she's the prismatic shard to my deserted heart
I might be an idiot 🙈😅 how does it work? Do you put it at the page edges instead?
I think so! And the little sword guy sticks out on the side
Yeah, that's what I was picturing. Cute!
I'm thinking the sword lasts flat against the top.
yes! i believe so haha
So cute!!
