TL;DR
Scentbox
Scentbox is a well-regarded perfume subscription service that provides an 8 mL sample each month, which equates to about 120 sprays [1:1]. Subscribers can choose their monthly fragrance, and the service includes free shipping and exchanges if you don’t like a scent
[1:4],
[1:5]. The cost is $14.95 for non-premium fragrances and $19.95 for premium ones
[1:3]. Users appreciate the flexibility to pause subscriptions and the ability to pick alternative products like candles or lotions
[4:1].
Scentbird
Scentbird allows users to select one scent per month and has been praised for its user-friendly interface for managing selections [2:5]. It offers a variety of designer and niche fragrances, and subscribers can easily pause or change their plan
[2:7]. However, some users have noted that scents can go out of stock frequently
[4:4].
Olfactif
Olfactif is another option that focuses on niche perfumes, providing three samples per month [3:5]. This service is ideal for those looking to explore unique scents that aren't commonly found in mainstream offerings. The subscription also includes a guessing game where correct guesses can win a full bottle
[3:2].
Royalty Scents
Royalty Scents offers a rotating selection without different pricing tiers for premium scents, making it a straightforward choice for those interested in high-end options [3:1]. They provide 8ml decants for $20, with a wide selection including brands like Le Labo and Dior.
PerfumeSplash
PerfumeSplash delivers a new scent every 30 days, allowing subscribers to choose their scent collection [4:2]. It's a newer service mentioned by users who appreciated its delivery model and selection process
[4:3].
Considerations Beyond the Discussions
When choosing a perfume subscription box, consider factors such as the variety of scents offered, the ease of managing your subscription, and the quality of customer service. Additionally, think about whether you prefer mainstream or niche fragrances, as this will guide your choice between services like Scentbird and Olfactif.
$14.95 a month for 30-day supply. You choose your monthly fragrance. Free shipping and exchanges. New case each month, which I have found to be reusable ☺️
Just to add on to this because I also sub to them it’s 14.95 a month for non premium fragrances but it’s 19.95 for premium which wound up being 11 out of the 12 I picked for the year ! Still a good deal though !
I just joined in January so I still have about 12 perfumes I want to try with non-premiums. I may do the premium ones next year, still trying to figure out what I like.
I wondered what kind of limitations there are! So there are premium and non premium...are there any other restrictions? Or can you pick whatever you want from their stock each month?
I find that change so weird because a lot of the perfumes I’d think are “premium” and are more expensive are never marked as premium?
What scent did you pick? Do you like it? (I am very tempted by this subscription)
This month I got the Coach Poppy wildflower and really enjoy it. The best thing I like about scentbox is if you don't like the perfume when you test it out you can exchange it for one that you do. It's all done online, no questions asked, free shipping, You just pop it back in the mail and they send you the one you want. I've only done this once in the last 7 months. still trying to figure out what I like but apparently I like floral and musk sense together . I believe you can try them out for like $10 for the first month and you can cancel anytime.
Does it last you exactly 30 days? How much do you use every day?
You get 8 mL, which equates to 4 sprays a day (120 sprays). It's definitely enough to try and see if you want to purchase a full bottle. I rotate a lot, a different perfume every day depending on how I feel. If I really love something I'll buy a full size bottle and add it to my collection. I think if you use something sparingly then it's enough to not have to buy any perfume but I love to douse myself in the morning and after my evening shower so it all depends on how much you use. It's hard for me to go to a perfume counter and try a bunch of stuff and drop $60-$120 after one spray among many. This subscription is for somebody who loves perfumes and wants to try new ones on their own schedule. Does that answer your question?
If you want to get a second month free! Please use my code. Little hack, if you sign up do the cheapest plan the first month then second month when it is free, upgrade :) http://www.scentbox.com/ref/468745/a

How?? Do they match the case if you buy those? I’ve never ordered one, maybe I will lol
Then I realized I could come here and ask some of you lol... Anyone have any experiences with a sub they would share that would help me better decide which one to go with. Thinking of scent bird or maybe scent box ??
I have both. I lean more towards Scentbird. Adding and organizing your queue is user friendly. Pausing and changing your subscription plan is very easy to do. They have been really killing it with the selection and put up new scents every month. I pay $35 for 3. Scentbird gives you one perfume case and then after that they only send the refill sprays that you load up into your case.
Scentbox does offer some great stuff, but inventory runs outs frequently which is frustrating. That’s why I have my premium subscription on pause right now, because most of what I wanted to try ran out. You receive new cases with your subscription each time. I pay $35 for two premium perfumes with cases. You get a reward credit of $4.94 a month if you have an active sub. which can then be put towards purchasing a perfume, full sized or .27oz spray. So every 4 months you can buy a .27 oz spray because they average in cost from $16 to $20. Scentbox is not as user friendly in terms of switching your queue and pausing.
So do I get to pick what scent I want for the month?
Yes, you do as long as you add your choices to the queue. If the queue is empty or the fragrance you chose is out of stock and you didn’t have anything else lined up in your queue then you’ll be sent the fragrance of the month.
Thank you! I’m going with scent bird
Has anyone tried fragrance net? They let you pick your scents but I’m not sure if the price is worth it.
If you're still interested, I prepaid for a year of their sub and it has been great! Large selection including Serge Lutens-type names. A couple of times over the year they were late in shipping. I contacted via email and they responded each time with updates. Never had a bad atomizer or been sent the wrong thing. I would not hesitate to sub with them.
Thanks for that!
I use scentbird and I'd say 7/10 have been a hit so far. I pick what I want and get two scents a month, though.
Does everyone get to pick what they want for the month?
I believe so, I've never not been able to pick what I want

I haven't subscribed to any perfume/fragrance subscriptions in over a year but in the past I had Scent Bird which you pick the one scent you want a month. The other was Olfactif which you got 3 or 4 sample sizes of niche perfumes. Now I just buy trial sizes on fragrancex.com or similar sites. I like the trial/travel sizes, I feel like with regular size perfumes I get bored of them and they go to waste.
I know many are shitty, so I'm wondering which ones you all would actually couch for. I'm incredibly picky about which companies I want to do business with, so tear them apart as bad as you can, and get as specific as you can about the ones you do like
I have a Scented subscription since October 2019. You get 3 samples each month Indigo Perfumery picks. The featured scent is 20% off for the month. The mystery scent - you get to guess which perfume it is and if you guess right, you get a full bottle for free (except if more than one person guessed it right, there’s a draw for the winner). The 3rd scent is a bonus scent. $12 / month includes shipping and you can choose how many months to participate; if you choose the maximum 6 months, you pay a total of $60. You can keep renewing.
I personally think there aren't any subscription boxes (fragrance, beauty, food) that are worth it. You pay a lot per year for mediocre products that are "alright" at best, accumulating a lot of junk. If you want to diversify, getting a brand sampler set is better. More scent variety for the rough cost of 2 months of subscription. If you're just doing it for the excitement of recieving random products, sure.
I'm guessing you're posting this because of the ScentBird post - I've said this multiple times, but as long as you treat it as a decant service for expensive/hard to find fragrances, the prices really aren't bad. I saved a lot with some Commodity, PdM, ELDO, and rag&bone scents, to name a few. But the same goes for any subscription service. Know what specific product you want, know the value, and don't forget to cancel. Canceling also gets you some "resubscription" discounts.
But to answer your question, the only ones I have heard of on this sub are ScentBird and ScentBox. ScentBird seems to have worse reputation. There's some articles if you search "fragrance subscription service" but they all seem to cost roughly the same. Issue with these things is always the selection, which is why people usually just recommend sampling instead.
I've known about scentbird for a while before they even got popular in the fragrance community, but then I was broke and knew nothing about fragrance, but I knew eventually I'd be wanting to look into alternatives to see which similar subscription box is actually the best for my needs, if it was that one or something else
Yeah, I think it's a good idea to hold off on subscription boxes till you have a solid understanding of brands and notes you enjoy. It's simply too many ml for something you might barely tolerate. BUT. Any hobby subreddit is full of people who are excited to sink the time and energy to research/cater to their specific taste. It's totally valid to have a more laid back approach.
Pretty sure ScentBird has especially bad rep bc they advertise/do sponsorships so people are sick of them. I don't think they're any better or worse than any other subscription service. All subscription services do their best to keep you(r wallet) around.
I think it depends on what you’re looking for. I don’t think it’s the most effective way to try new samples, unless you go with Olfactif, which sends 3 samples with each box instead of one big decant.
For the decant boxes, it’s better if you already know which scents you enjoy and they have it available, otherwise you end up with 25 decants and only enjoying wearing 4 of them like I did, waste of money and fragrance and TIME, waiting a whole month to try one or two scents just to not like them. They’re good for people new to fragrance or who are not hobbyists, because they’re less intimidating. But once you have a foundation, sampling from sites like Luckyscent, Microperfumes, Twisted Lily etc is better I think, or buying discovery set. And then just getting a decant from Reddit or a decanting site if you like it.
I'm fine with premium scentbox and ended up getting a full bottle with the monthly credits too. They are slow to ship though, like someone else mentioned. It's been worth it to me so far.
I subscribe to Royalty Scents. They have a decent selection which rotates every few months, and I’ve had no problem with their quality. They don’t have different prices for “premium” scents like others do. Just make sure you look up the price of a decant on other sites before you add it to your selection to make sure that it’s worth the $20. I’ve gotten several Le Labos and some of the Dior privee line from them. This month I got Nishane Hacivat and Fan Your Flames and TF Tobacco Vanille for $20 each for an 8ml decant.
The only problem that I’ve run into is that when they run out of a particular scent, they don’t notify you even if it’s in your queue. You can put things in your queue up to a year in advance so I’ve run into this issue a couple of times. Now I just check every month before they ship out my order to make sure that everything I selected is still available.
Hey y’all. I’m looking for some perfume boxes. I asked this like, a year ago but since it’s a year later and i still haven’t decided (lol) i thought I’d ask ask for any new answers
I’m looking for a monthly perfume subscription to try out different designer fragrances. Plus for good customer service and no issues with cancelling/charged etc
Thanks x
Hey, try PerfumeSplash. They're a perfume subscription service. They deliver a new scent to your door every 30 days. You get to choose your scent collection and try a different scent. I've used their service for a few months now..
Hi, I've tried Perfume Splash. My sister introduced me a few months ago. They let you choose a scent group and send you a new perfume every month. Amazing service www.perfumesplash.com
You've probably gotten this recommendation 100× but scentbox is a good one.. I liked it better than the other 2 i tried, they send you a new scent case every month with no extra charge, free shipping and 1 free exchange each month if you don't ljke the scent. You can pause for up to 3 months if you wanna take a break or just skip a month whenever. You can pick whatever scent you want or pick somethinf else for that month like a candle, lotion or bathbomb. Pm if you wanna try it i can send you my referral link which you can use to get a free scent with your order. I'm not sure about their customers service bc I've honestly had no issue in the last 6 months but cancelling is easy and can be done online
If you go with another perfume box pls post a review cause i love perfume and im always curious about other subscriptions! :)
Does scentbox have a good way to help you pick scents? I’m currently with Scentbird. Their app is moderately helpful. You can drill down on each scent to see notes and reviews. You don’t get a case nor can you exchange. You can only pick a repeat scent every 6mo (if they still have it). Does Scentbox seem to add new scents often? It looks to me like Scentbird adds around six new scents a month and scents go OOS pretty often.
There's so many scents its honestly difficult to tell how often they add new ones but I'm sure you could email CS and ask. They do have top scents each month, personally I've never had a problem with OOS perfumes but i don't often go for the top scents so idk of that's an issue. They don't seem to have a "new" section as everything is organized by brand or scent notes. And yes they have filters you can use if you're looking for a particular scent note or type of scent profile(oriental, gourmand, winter, spring, ect..) If you click on a perfume it has a description about it and yes there are reviews. They have different subscriptions types, signing up for premium gives you access to newer, high end perfumes on the market but it is more expensive. I have the regular sub but I've used the free referral link try a Nest scent I've been curious about even though it's listed as premium
Mainstream or indie? My husband bought us Olfactif for Christmas and it is perfect if you don't want to smell like everyone around you. There are a couple others that give you more control and more name brands.

Hello!
I want to find more scents to add to my rotation.
Are their any GOOD subscription services that send you samples of popular fragrances?
I get both Scentbird and Scentbox. For Scenbird I get two regular scents per month and then I have the platinum level subscription for Scentbox and I get one fragrance per month from them (I know it’s a little extra but I really enjoy them!). So, I mostly explore designer and more reasonably priced niche with Scentbird (although they do have a few higher end niche fragrances on their regular menu that I’ve been able to try). And then with Scentbox, I usually pick a higher end Niche fragrance to try.
I love both subscriptions but if I had to pick one I think I’d go with Scentbox. The atomizers are nicer and each scent comes in its own. With Scentbird you only get an atomizer with your first order and then you have to switch it out for each fragrance you use (the scents come in glass vials and then to use them, you insert them into the plastic atomizer). You can upgrade your subscription to get a new atomizer each month but it wasn’t worth it imo. I also think Scentbird has a better menu, especially if you want to explore niche fragrances. Also with Scentbox I believe you have the opportunity to return a scent you don’t like in exchange for something else (I’ve never done this though so I’m not totally sure how it works).
But I really like both. They are a great opportunity to try some new stuff without breaking the bank. You get about a month’s worth of product with each scent. However, I have a pretty large collection that includes some full bottles and a ton of travel sprays/roller balls that I rotate through, so each subscription scent will usually last me way longer than a month.
I recommend trying one or the other if you’re interested. You can obviously spend way less than I do by just picking one and not opting for upgrades (again I’m kind of extra when it comes to perfumes lol). If you have any other specific questions please let me know!
Thank you!
Im going to sign up for Scentbox.
I can't wait to add some more scents to my collection 😍

I don't want entire bottles sent to me every month but I love to get sample sizes. I don't care whether a scent is "high end" or "designer" - I'm honestly more interested in indie scents and getting introduced to new (to me) scents. Does anything like this exist?
In Sweden and UK there is Sniph, which is 225 sek per month so around 20€. You get a 8ml every month
I've tried Scentbox, Scentbird, and Parfumado. Of those, scentbox is the nicest both in terms of choice and in terms of quality of the atomiser, especially if you take the platinum option. They all do 8ml sizes and offer quite a bit of choice, and they have a referral program so make sure to snag a code on one of their subreddit to get some extra stuff (I doubt I can put my own here but I found some on reddit by just searching so it's not difficult to find).
bloom does a subscription service
Perfumology does a monthly subscription sample pack for $20. They specialize in niche brands and have good variety.
Some individual indie houses have monthly subscriptions, like Possets. I wish there was something that includes multiple indie houses. Especially concentrating on a theme per set, so I could compare accords across Indies.
Thank you!
Has anyone ordered from Mini Parfums? I saw them on TikTok and I’m fairly certain they sell only Mini’s but they have soooooo many options! Enough to get a feel of the fragrance and still cute too.
I haven't but agree that minis are so cute!
Sephora doesn’t sell Byredo, Diptyque, or Armani Prive, so this is an interesting favorites box. Maybe they’re coming to Sephora soon.
Is there a monthly subscription for perfumes? I would love sample some scents before I actually buy the full size
Olfactif.com. I subscribed for 3 months and loved it.
Did you end up canceling your subscription?
i am only familiar with scent bird & skylar’s monthly sub box - currently still with skylar
what does it cost?
I'm doing Skylar right now. Its kinda fun they come out with a new rollerball every month and you can skip or swap with an existing rollerball if you want. Its $20 a month and you get a discount on the site on everything all the time I think its like 20 or 30%. I have some existing perfumes but I like that the rollerball is enough to mix in for the month and I actually use it up. I don't typically like rollerballs but these I use fast enough that I don't mind.
Scentbird
Scentbox. I'm on my 3rd month and I like it.
If so, which ones?
I had the Sens Unique Box for 6 months last year. They were shipping 6x2ml frags samples from a good variety of niche brands each month and each box has a theme. The price was very reasonable and they ship worldwide.
I've used scentbox but am currently using scentbird. Scentbox is a little more expensive because the scents you do want are $20. Scentbird is $15 so it's not bad and it allows me to try a few niche houses I havent tried before. If you aren't planning to get expensive niche fragrances with both you're basically wasting your money.
I used scentbird for a while but when they were moving warehouses last year 3 straight months of my orders got delayed and I had a hard time getting stuff that I paid for. The selection is somewhat limited and since they have to make a profit it makes more sense for me to get things from splits and decants available on Reddit now.
I’d doubt many, if any, people use frag subscriptions on here.
Why is that?
Because they are not worth it. Simple as that
I don’t use a subscription box, but I do use Scentbird. I’m still trying to find out my preferred fragrance profile, so I think that it’s a helpful way to find out what kind of fragrances I like while still having some control over the choices.
I have thought about trying out a subscription service for fragrances, but I am not sure if they are worth it because you can find good prices at discounters. What is your opinion?
So I did the math on the common subscription services, and if you're only willing to buy products at full retail value, then subscription services aren't a horrible deal when looking at price per mL. Mind you they're not a good deal, but they let you try the fragrance before you buy a full bottle and the money potentially saved is a valid argument.
If you are willing to buy fragrances from discounters however, subscription services are an absolutely horrendous deal. Also, some discounters offer the same lipstick atomizer samples for cheaper than subscription services.
Overall, I think they're a complete waste, but that's because I have a ton of different discounters that I can find fragrances on. The only thing that subscription services offer that discounters don't, is the schedule of deliveries, where you can schedule out the next 6 months and receive new fragrances every month.
The knocks are usually youre overspending on basic designer scents then paying even more if you want nice offering as a ‘premium’ option. Scent bird used to have a ton of complaints about not being able to cancel the subscriptions.
To make a sweeping generalization, IMO almost all subscription services are inserting themselves into a process that doesn’t need them.
nah, i’d say it’s better to go through decants and find something you truly love rather than a bunch of 15ml subscription scents that range from ok to pretty good
Perfect. These subscription services don’t have great selections either. You’re better off ordering whatever you want as decants.
I would say they're usually not overly worth it from a financial ($/mL) standpoint, but some people enjoy having a selection (whether curated or random) made for them, and that fun/surprise can be worth it for some people.
I absolutely love my Indigo subscription. I’ve tried a ton of fragrances at this point, so I’m mostly interested in niche and especially new niche. Indigo sends three fragrances a month with a detailed sheet about the compositions, notes, etc (it’s very educational!) and often one is a new release. If you like one of the offerings, you get a discount on a bottle. The subscription gets me trying scents that I would never ordinarily pick and expands my horizons in a big way. Plus, I love supporting such an awesome retailer!
perfume subscription boxes
Key Considerations for Perfume Subscription Boxes
Variety of Scents: Look for a subscription that offers a wide range of fragrances from different brands, including niche and designer options. This allows you to explore various scent profiles.
Customization: Some services allow you to customize your box based on your scent preferences (floral, woody, fresh, etc.), which can enhance your experience.
Size of Samples: Check the size of the samples provided. Many subscriptions offer 8-10 ml vials, which are typically enough for several uses, while others may offer smaller sizes.
Frequency of Delivery: Consider how often you want to receive new scents (monthly, bi-monthly, etc.) and choose a subscription that fits your preferences.
Cost: Compare the pricing of different subscriptions. Some may offer introductory discounts or allow you to pay for multiple months upfront for savings.
Return Policy: Look for a subscription that has a flexible return policy in case you receive a scent you don’t like.
Recommendations:
Scentbird: Offers a wide selection of over 600 fragrances, allows for customization, and provides 8 ml vials. It's a great option for those who want to try a variety of scents each month.
FragranceNet: Known for its affordability, this subscription offers a good mix of designer and niche fragrances.
Perfume.com: Offers a subscription service that allows you to choose your favorite scents from a large catalog, making it a good choice for those who want more control over their selections.
Choosing the right subscription box can enhance your fragrance journey, allowing you to discover new favorites without committing to full-sized bottles.
