TL;DR To maximize animal productivity in Stardew Valley, pet them daily, ensure they have food, and maintain their happiness. For completing bundles, check the traveling cart for rare items.
Animal Happiness and Productivity
In Stardew Valley, the happiness of your farm animals directly affects their productivity. To obtain large milk and eggs, you need to pet your animals every day [4:1]
[4:2]. Additionally, providing them with food and letting them out to graze (except during winter) will further increase their happiness and productivity
[4:3]. In winter, make sure to have a heater in the barn or coop to keep them warm and happy
[4:3].
Completing the Animal Bundle
To complete the Community Center's animal bundle, you need Large Cow Milk, Large Goat Milk, and two Large Eggs. If you're struggling to get these items, ensure that your animals are well cared for as mentioned above. You can also check the traveling cart on Fridays and Sundays for these items [4:1]. Building up the hearts with your animals by consistently petting them will eventually lead to larger produce
[4:6].
Pet Variations and Acquisition
Stardew Valley offers different types of pets and farm animals, each with unique characteristics. The color of chickens determines the color of eggs they lay, except for blue eggs [4:3]. Marnie sells both white and brown chickens, and you can see the color of the chicken before placing it in the coop
[4:5].
Cutest Animals in Stardew Valley
Players often share their favorite cute animals in the game. Some popular choices include anteaters, moles, scarabs, ghost dragons, and golden jaguars [3:1]
[3:3]. Bats are also appreciated for their adorable sleeping habits
[3:7]. While these animals don't necessarily impact gameplay, they add charm and personality to the farm experience.
General Tips
For those looking to expand their collection of animals or pets, engaging with community resources such as fan-made lists and guides can be helpful [1:1]
[2:5]. These resources often provide comprehensive information on all available animals and tips for managing them effectively.
For the past 2 hours and an hour last night I've been refreshing the pet page over and over and adopting one of each put. Not done yet but made a lot of progress and am still currently working on it. Their is no exact list of all the pets so I figured I'd share! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uGRo_pCT88O1fq5yuJn7qGOOkDUhXsrbq5nTk6vOOZI/edit?usp=drivesdk
Not all heroes wear capes 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 thank you so much for this list!!!
Of Course! And I'm still checking for new pets too!
OH! I also made visitors commenters so you can comment if you know of one I've missed
Hi first time ever posting here, and I have a question does anyone know what all tameable animals/beast (don't know if there is a difference) are in this game or where I can find a list of them. Sorry if this has been posted before and to those reading this thank you and have a great day.
I could never find a full list, this is from my experience:
Wolf, Alpha Wolf, Polar Wolf, Polar Alpha Wolf
Bear, White Bear
Boar, Dominant Sow, Crocswine
Plagued Rat, Mole-rat
Creeper, Snow Creeper
Cardinal Mosquito
There should also be Saurian and their alpha version from the Belerion DLC - I didnt get to it yet so I can't confirm.
Also there should be new versions of wolves, bears and boars from the new DLC releasing soon.
You can tame the Saurians
You forgot to mention the beasts added to the Skelmars DLC: The Smilodons.
Thanks! I didn't get there yet either so I didn't know about those lol
I never thought to try to tame a plague rat, lol.
There are also the Syrens from Belerion, they are just another type of Creeper/Snow Crawler.
https://wartales.fandom.com/wiki/Beasts
This should have all the infos you need. Have fun catching them all ^_^
We need a place to drop off animal companions! I love my bears, but I don't need to carry around 10 of them! (And before anybody asks "WhY doN'T yOu JusT dISmiSs SoMe?!? It's because I put work into them and they are part of my family dammit!)
That’s why I love the Tavern DLC. You can leave anyone there and get them back anytime.
Can you leave animals?
I usually load up on wolves and give them the crit bonus if there’s 3 in the group. 50% crit is awesome
I currently work on a guide for that exact question. showing all beast skillstrees and evaluate the powerlevel. But i want to include the content of the new beasthunter DLC as well.
The base game beasts are:
Wolf
Bear
Boar
Crockswine
Mosquito
Rat
Molerat
Creeper/ pony are technical also beasts.
Apha Versions of beasts have higher stats. The skilltree is the same for beatstypes.
I would include the Dire stag, but I don't think some will agree it's cute lmao.
Soooo many to choose from! I have more that have my heart, however, these are my fav babies right now. Jaguar will ALWAYS be my #1.
Oh my god I totally see it their adorable I didn’t even know some of them were in game 🤩
He’s a Golden Jaguar. I named him Bagheera :3
GOLDEN JAGUAR MENTION! I have 2 neons, a mega, and a normal! I love mine so much
the mega golden jaguar is one of my favorites that i own too! its so underrated!
A mega 👁️👄👁️! You are the chosen one and a fav of the ADM gods
Bats! Cause they are so teeny and sleep upside down, too cute.
A pet egg and like some butterfly adds?
Yea, it's so sweet! Made me love them even more.
Lmk if u have any dugongs btww
I find moles and the scarabs pretty cute personally, along with the ghost dragon
I started playing again after watching RTgame and I've made significant progress since playing it last. In order to complete the Community center, I need Large Cows milk, large goat milk and two large eggs. I have the deluxe barn and big coop but I'm only getting regular sized milk and eggs. I'm stumped.
Edit: thanks for the feedback. Who knew the solution was as simple as "pet them every day." I feel stupid.
You have to pet them every day so they grow old enough to make big eggs and milk.
The more happy an animal is the better the items so just pet them everyday, give them food and let them out every day except winter and in winter have a heater. Also the color of chicken gives the color of eggs (except blue eggs) so brown chicken= brown egg
Where do i get white chickens? Does Marnie sell them?
I should have explained it in the post my bad. Yes, normally she sells white and brown chickens to get the one you want go and buy a chicken but before you put it in a coop it will say what color at the top, letting you see if it’s the one you need.
You have to build up the hearts with your animals. Once they get more hearts and are happy constantly you get the bigger eggs and milks
SEBBY! WE NEED TO COMPLETE THE ANIMAL BUNDLE!
Pet your animals every day to make them happy. Also check the travelling cart every Friday and Sunday, it can stock these items.
This photo feels like discovery from both points of view.
'Under the starry sky, they both discovered a lifeform'.
Love this, reminds me of Bradbury
Yeah, love those deer. The best are the tiny ones (but then you can't ride them, alas).
this one was baby, but yeah tiny ones are the best!
I loveeeeee stardew valley and the slow paced aspect of that but I'd really like a game thats more animal focused, anyone have any ideas? Preferably on steam
Do you want to take care of an animal or be an animal?
I loveeee animals games and could sound off a huge list but having a better idea of what you are looking for will help bring the list down haha
Both r fun but kinda like taking care and being around animals
Wobble dogs! Such a goofy simple and fun game. I have over 50 hours put into it so far! There plenty of tasks that will keep your momentum going if you ever feel like you are out of things to do.
This one is a little different than what you are wanting I think, but niche is also absolutely amazing! It’s a genetic survival game where you control creatures called nichelings and breed them to pass along genetics. You do have to think and plan ahead while playing this game as there are many threats to your creatures. They also will die after a set number of days.
Alba!
STOP IT THIS IS THE CUTEST THING EVER OMG
I know right 😄
Cattle Country was announced recently
Cuteeee
It's not available just yet, but check out our game Skystead Ranch!
It's a fantastical creature collector with elements of farming, terraforming and decorating but the main focus is finding and taming the cute animals we've designed.
Wishlist it on Steam because the game comes out on the 17th of Jan!
As my title said I'm currently looking for a good Stardew Valley guide for animal only guides. I've looked online, through this subreddit, and YouTube videos. Most of them talk about "How to Make 50K a day with Pigs?!" However, I'm looking for a guide that details early game as well. I'm gonna be playing with 3 friends on four-corners and I want to use mostly animals this run. Thanks for the help!
When you get your animals makes sure you pet them daily and feed them. Don’t cut the grass in the animal section as it helps get better quality stuff from them. During the summer and fall focus harvesting wheat (wheat gives you hay for your animals). Chickens and cows will produce milk and eggs daily once they start producing. Pigs will harvest multiple truffles a day but need to be let out to do so. Goats and ducks produce every other day but their base products and their artesian goods are worth more. Personally for me I like to start with cows and chickens to get money and once I’m settled in then switch out chickens for ducks and cows for goats. As well as a barn for pigs. I’ve never done sheep and I’ve only had one rabbit. Void chickens are only good for quests. Get the space heaters for each barn/coop as well as auto harvesters. It saves hours not having to collect all day. And once you get the biggest barn/coop and get the auto feeder AND have silos you won’t need to worry about feeding every day. Hopefully this helps
This definitely helps. Question though, how do you first raise enough money to purchase the coops and barns? I'm thinking of selling tea saplings and chopping trees on the daily.
My main focus is farming and artisan products from that (jelly, beer, wine, etc.). But from playing coop with my brother money wise fishing is the best way to go. He was making 9k a day from fishing all day and got to level 10 by summer. Farming is another way but is very expensive to get started. If you plant pumpkins, melons, and cauliflower they normally have a high price per fruit. But berrys are the hand down best.
how do you tame cows?
Missing some creatures.... Killer whale. Carrowaries have been spotted in desert. There are several more missing.
I see Im trying to document as much animals in that game as possible. The reason I put cassowary in jungle is that I grouped the animals in their respective environments they live in in the real world.
Only seen one YouTuber play the game and have a general concept on how it works but besides that playing entirely blind, any general tips would be welcome!
Fill your pets bowl with water, it won’t die without it, but I felt so mean for not knowing to do that for so long lol.
Can I name the pet? I’m asking the important questions
Yes, you can.
Honestly boss just play as you want. I miss the mystery, just explore and discover. You cant lose the game so just enjoy ^^
I would say jumping into the game blind is the best you can do. Don't follow any YouTube videos on how to get this or that or what's good or bad. Do whatever you feel like and explore. Once you are far enough into the game then you can look stuff up.
Upgrade your tools as soon as possible, it'll make everything easier 👌🏻

Third cat because he reminds me of my kitty Jerry
Also I love how the cats laze around the farm all day lol
When I first started playing I thought mine had died because it just did that thing where it lays down looking like a damn cat-skin rug! 😂 😂
the far right dog because he's just so derpy looking
My auto-fill name for him once was Borpo, and I’ve kept that in every save since. Might name a real dog after him lol.
Middle dog. Looks just like my Lulu. And is in my way nearly as much... Edit: Little Lulu, for comparison: https://imgur.com/a/ruYc0gC
Grey kitty his name is Fossil
He reminds me of the Golden Retriever I had as a kid. Loved that goofy bastard.
Me too, his name is Scoots :)
yesss and mine always runs into walls or fences so that just makes him even more derpier
I think the dogs are more active, at least they seem that way to me. Theyre always running around and getting in the way lol. And the cats are always sprawled in the shade somewhere, completely ignoring the farmer.
