Most Memorable Quotes from Black Mirror

Selma Hayek in "Joan is Awful"

One of the standout quotes from the latest season comes from Selma Hayek's character, who humorously exclaims, “Doesn’t my asshole have any rights?!” This line was particularly memorable for its comedic impact and unexpected delivery [1:3]. The dialogue involving Selma Hayek's character was noted as being hilarious, especially scenes involving her shitting in a church [1:5].

USS Callister

The episode "USS Callister" has several memorable lines. One user recalled the quote where AI Nanette asserts her determination with, “I haven’t!” when told she can't hack into the system [2:2]. Another memorable moment from this episode includes the boastful declaration, “Uh huh, you better run! King of space right here…. King of space….” which showcases Aaron Paul's performance [2:3].

15 Million Merits

In the episode "15 Million Merits," Bing's declaration, “I’m an entertainer,” stands out as a poignant moment that reflects the themes of performance and authenticity within the dystopian setting [2:5].

Shut Up and Dance

This episode is remembered for its intense and shocking storyline, with one of the key lines being, “What did you do Kenny? They're saying you're looking at kids... KIDS KENNY!” This line encapsulates the tension and moral complexity that the episode explores [2:7].

Overall Impact

Black Mirror is known for its thought-provoking narratives and impactful dialogues. While individual episodes are standalone, they often leave a lasting impression through their exploration of technology and human nature. The quotes mentioned above highlight some of the series' most memorable moments and showcase the range of emotions that Black Mirror can evoke, from humor to horror.

What are your favorite quotes from Black Mirror?

Hey everyone!

What are your favorite quotes from Black Mirror? I made a game about movie and TV show quotes and Black Mirror is a tough one since the episodes aren’t related. I would appreciate it if you shoot your favorites and give me some ideas.

Thank you in advance!

(I asked Black Mirror but I need more quotes for the future. US folks can check it before midnight if they are interested. It’s the second quote.

In the USS Callister episode, AI Nanette is trying to hack the system.

First, one guy says, “You can’t hack into it. I already tried.”.

She replies, “I haven’t!”.

Problem is I’m just starting to rewatch because it’s been so long since I’ve seen them.

However, I love Hang the DJ, White Christmas, and I just rewatched Shut Up and Dance (OMG JUST A TOTALLY CRAZY EPISODE). I liked Nosedive too and I actually liked the Red Mirror episode the last episode of the last season.

They all give me things to think about on a moral, philosophical, and even emotional and psychological level.

Similar shows like Black Mirror

Posted by TripTimely7955 · in r/blackmirror · 4 months ago

I've watched my favorites Severance, Fringe, Westworld.

Imma add Black Mirror to this top list of mine. I didn't dare trying this show at first because each episode is a standalone I've heard. But I've ran out of good shows to watch after Severance finished.

So I finally tried this show. In fact I started Season 6th just to see if I'll like it. I ended up loving it. I stopped at episode 6th when it showed a flashback of random space people because I had a feeling it's like a continuation of a past episode. After watching the whole show, I was definitely right lol. I watched the show backwards from season five all the way to the first season. My favorite one was the crew spaceship episode, black dudes making out in video game episode and that reality changing necklace episode, That pig episode was fcked bro. I can't believe it's my second to the last episode I watched.

After that I went back to the s6e6 where it's the crew spaceship again 😭

Anyways please recommend me shows to watch I have no idea what to watch that have the same vibe as this. I love each episode except pig episode😭

Edit: forgot to add another favorites. i watched these too:

I discovered Inside No. 9 in one of these threads a few years ago and fell in love. In my opinion it is way better than Black Mirror. Also watched League of Gentlemen and Psychoville, they’re all genius.

Watch Inside number 9 !!!!!!!! Such an amazing and perfectly written show, it’s an anthology and each episode is just amazing, the 2 creators (who are also in every episode) are so talented and make every episode extremely entertaining

13 upvotes on reddit
LeopardFeeling5612 · 4 months ago

I second this, Inside no.9 is as incredible as Black Mirror. Shorter episodes but there's some dark twists and some incredible acting. Would absolutely recommend this anthology series. Note not every episode is a winner, just like black mirror but the majority of them are amazing.

12 days of Christine, Bernie Clinton's Dressing Room and Sardines are some of the best episodes.

6 upvotes on reddit
Nearby_Major_6607 · 4 months ago

Other people have commented this but got to say inside no.9. It has the anthology structure, with the two writers in the episodes every single time and they crush it every time. It has a twist mostly every episode, and everyone episode is so different it keeps you guessing. It isn’t so much about technology or dystopia, but definitely has the same impending doom laced with dark comedy that black Mirror has. Bonus points for the fact that there are 9 series of it, and the episodes are actually shorter. I love this as it never feels like an event watching an episode, they’re all half an hour long and you can watch a few in an evening. There are so many different genres covered. I would argue that as a tv series it’s better than black mirror for the reasons stated. It’s definitely remained thoroughly rooted in Britain throughout (in terms of location, featured actors and humour and tone) if that is of any note to anyone. The closest I’ve ever seen to black mirror so far

Couldn’t agree more. I don’t think I can name another tv show that wields the power to have you rooted to your seat in shock, blown away by the twists, laughing your ass off or crying your heart out from episode to episode.

Incredible writing and never takes itself too seriously.

8-9 éves lehettem amikor a szomszéd srác betört hozzánk az éjszaka közepén és bejött hozzám a szobába. Egyedül aludtam, nővérem a másik szobában.

5 favorite episodes?

Posted by Remote-Nectarine-246 · in r/blackmirror · 3 months ago

Hello. I recently started watch a couple of episodes of Black Mirror, and would like to know your 5 favorite episodes. I’ve only seen 3, and by the descriptions of most episodes, most don’t sound interesting to me. I know I will likely be pleasantly surprised by most, in not all episodes but since all episodes are stand alone, then I don’t need to watch them in a particular order.

I will comment the episodes I’ve seen, as I don’t want to spoil it for anybody else who’s new to watching it. If that is you, I suggest you collapse or go past my comment without reading it. Also, I will change the flair if needed.

Not my favorite episode but Crocodile fucked me up so badly, that I had to stop watching BM for a while, so for that reason alone, I have to list it as a must watch.

The chain of events is so horrible and the worst part is that when I put myself in the protagonist’s shoes, I honestly think I would do everything she did except for her final act with the toddler. I couldn’t do that. But everything else, I probably would, which is horrific to think about.

Creating/joining mutual aid exchanges of goods and services, calling/emailing your representatives, reminding individuals that "the other" is not the one making their lives worse...all of this sounds so hard when you compare it to watching short films about "Yeah but measuring personal worth via bank account numbers is much nicer than this imagined dystopia from another extreme of the slippery slope fallacy!"

It's successful for the same reason as 1984: it takes a current observation of the status quo and extrapolates what is almost certainly going to happen, then repackages it as "dystopian fiction" instead of correctly labeling it as "realistic extrapolation".

Dystopian (and utopian) fiction have always been extrapolations from trends in the author's present.

Zamyatin's We: Taylorist production, surveillance and the governance of everyday life.

Huxley's Brave New World: consumerism, pharmological governance, disciplinary potential of welfare state.

More's Utopia: monastic living, colonial exploration, resistance to enclosure.
