Selma Hayek in "Joan is Awful"
One of the standout quotes from the latest season comes from Selma Hayek's character, who humorously exclaims, “Doesn’t my asshole have any rights?!” This line was particularly memorable for its comedic impact and unexpected delivery [1:3]. The dialogue involving Selma Hayek's character was noted as being hilarious, especially scenes involving her shitting in a church
[1:5].
USS Callister
The episode "USS Callister" has several memorable lines. One user recalled the quote where AI Nanette asserts her determination with, “I haven’t!” when told she can't hack into the system [2:2]. Another memorable moment from this episode includes the boastful declaration, “Uh huh, you better run! King of space right here…. King of space….” which showcases Aaron Paul's performance
[2:3].
15 Million Merits
In the episode "15 Million Merits," Bing's declaration, “I’m an entertainer,” stands out as a poignant moment that reflects the themes of performance and authenticity within the dystopian setting [2:5].
Shut Up and Dance
This episode is remembered for its intense and shocking storyline, with one of the key lines being, “What did you do Kenny? They're saying you're looking at kids... KIDS KENNY!” This line encapsulates the tension and moral complexity that the episode explores [2:7].
Overall Impact
Black Mirror is known for its thought-provoking narratives and impactful dialogues. While individual episodes are standalone, they often leave a lasting impression through their exploration of technology and human nature. The quotes mentioned above highlight some of the series' most memorable moments and showcase the range of emotions that Black Mirror can evoke, from humor to horror.
I prefer "paper cut on your hemorrhoids."
“Doesn’t my asshole have any rights?!” - Selma Hayek
There is a new season? Please don’t April fools me again.
Just dropped today boiiii
All the Selma Hayek shitting in a Church dialog was hilarious.
There's new black mirrors out?
Hey everyone!
What are your favorite quotes from Black Mirror? I made a game about movie and TV show quotes and Black Mirror is a tough one since the episodes aren’t related. I would appreciate it if you shoot your favorites and give me some ideas.
Thank you in advance!
(I asked Black Mirror but I need more quotes for the future. US folks can check it before midnight if they are interested. It’s the second quote.

In the USS Callister episode, AI Nanette is trying to hack the system.
First, one guy says, “You can’t hack into it. I already tried.”.
She replies, “I haven’t!”.
I saw the entire series twice and don’t remember any line by memory, but for some reason I keep getting the ‘We don’t have those’ in USS Callister and then proceeds to strip and dance, lmao
“Uh huh, you better run! King of space right here…. King of space….”
Aaron Paul was great in that episode.
♫︎For he's a jolly good- oh my fuck
I crack up every time at that one.

Hi all! I posted a YouTube video ranking all the Black Mirror episodes, but below is my top 10. I wanted to upload the full video here but the file is too large (it's a 30 minute video). I'll linked it in the comments. I would love to know your thoughts on my ranking and what your personal ranking is. If you're interested in my other content, my channel name is Jack Brunót.

Problem is I’m just starting to rewatch because it’s been so long since I’ve seen them.
However, I love Hang the DJ, White Christmas, and I just rewatched Shut Up and Dance (OMG JUST A TOTALLY CRAZY EPISODE). I liked Nosedive too and I actually liked the Red Mirror episode the last episode of the last season.
They all give me things to think about on a moral, philosophical, and even emotional and psychological level.
note: I already had the list made on Letterboxxd and didn't want to bother remaking it on Serializd, so I'm sharing the LB one
I highly recommend watching the special episode! It was the original series finale before Netflix revived the show and it is certainly a unique episode.
I’m a Metalhead defender till the day I die. I love how quiet and tense it is and I think they nailed the concept. Not quite my favorite but still one of the better ones for sure.
Nosedive is my all time favorite though, glad to see it so high, and Striking Vipers being so high is great too! Very underrated one.
I've watched my favorites Severance, Fringe, Westworld.
Imma add Black Mirror to this top list of mine. I didn't dare trying this show at first because each episode is a standalone I've heard. But I've ran out of good shows to watch after Severance finished.
So I finally tried this show. In fact I started Season 6th just to see if I'll like it. I ended up loving it. I stopped at episode 6th when it showed a flashback of random space people because I had a feeling it's like a continuation of a past episode. After watching the whole show, I was definitely right lol. I watched the show backwards from season five all the way to the first season. My favorite one was the crew spaceship episode, black dudes making out in video game episode and that reality changing necklace episode, That pig episode was fcked bro. I can't believe it's my second to the last episode I watched.
After that I went back to the s6e6 where it's the crew spaceship again 😭
Anyways please recommend me shows to watch I have no idea what to watch that have the same vibe as this. I love each episode except pig episode😭
Edit: forgot to add another favorites. i watched these too:
Behind Her Eyes
Dark
I discovered Inside No. 9 in one of these threads a few years ago and fell in love. In my opinion it is way better than Black Mirror. Also watched League of Gentlemen and Psychoville, they’re all genius.
Watch Inside number 9 !!!!!!!! Such an amazing and perfectly written show, it’s an anthology and each episode is just amazing, the 2 creators (who are also in every episode) are so talented and make every episode extremely entertaining
I second this, Inside no.9 is as incredible as Black Mirror. Shorter episodes but there's some dark twists and some incredible acting. Would absolutely recommend this anthology series. Note not every episode is a winner, just like black mirror but the majority of them are amazing.
12 days of Christine, Bernie Clinton's Dressing Room and Sardines are some of the best episodes.
Other people have commented this but got to say inside no.9. It has the anthology structure, with the two writers in the episodes every single time and they crush it every time. It has a twist mostly every episode, and everyone episode is so different it keeps you guessing. It isn’t so much about technology or dystopia, but definitely has the same impending doom laced with dark comedy that black Mirror has. Bonus points for the fact that there are 9 series of it, and the episodes are actually shorter. I love this as it never feels like an event watching an episode, they’re all half an hour long and you can watch a few in an evening. There are so many different genres covered. I would argue that as a tv series it’s better than black mirror for the reasons stated. It’s definitely remained thoroughly rooted in Britain throughout (in terms of location, featured actors and humour and tone) if that is of any note to anyone. The closest I’ve ever seen to black mirror so far
Was scrolling to make sure someone had recommended IN9 - even better than black mirror in my opinion.
Only reason I scrolled was to make sure someone suggested this. I wouldn't call it better than black mirror but equally as good in quality and tone.
Couldn’t agree more. I don’t think I can name another tv show that wields the power to have you rooted to your seat in shock, blown away by the twists, laughing your ass off or crying your heart out from episode to episode.
Incredible writing and never takes itself too seriously.
Some of the episodes are unbelievably funny. I remember watching la couchette for the first time a few years ago, and the climax with the German guy in the shoe box had my family absolutely creasing like we were watching a comedy.
Love Death and Robots.
Love Death and Robots 👍
I’ve tried this a couple times. Should I just skip episode one? Somethings not clicking for me because I love dark, twisty, thriller things like black mirror and twilight zone
Beyond the Aquila Rift, Sonnie's Edge, Jibaro, Bad Traveling, Helping Hand, to name a few of my favorite episodes that scratch that itch.
Sziasztok!
Egyedül aludtam, nővérem a másik szobában.
S1E1 mikor?
Hello. I recently started watch a couple of episodes of Black Mirror, and would like to know your 5 favorite episodes. I’ve only seen 3, and by the descriptions of most episodes, most don’t sound interesting to me. I know I will likely be pleasantly surprised by most, in not all episodes but since all episodes are stand alone, then I don’t need to watch them in a particular order.
I will comment the episodes I’ve seen, as I don’t want to spoil it for anybody else who’s new to watching it. If that is you, I suggest you collapse or go past my comment without reading it. Also, I will change the flair if needed.
Edit: Honorable mention: Bete Noir, Demon 79
This is the correct answer
Sweet what do i win
Not my favorite episode but Crocodile fucked me up so badly, that I had to stop watching BM for a while, so for that reason alone, I have to list it as a must watch.
The chain of events is so horrible and the worst part is that when I put myself in the protagonist’s shoes, I honestly think I would do everything she did except for her final act with the toddler. I couldn’t do that. But everything else, I probably would, which is horrific to think about.
Bur compelling for sure! I had to go back and re-watch after months. I have no idea why I find myself sympathising with the protagonist. It is eerie!
After you watch it, it haunts you for a good long while.
‘I honestly think I would do everything she did’- my thoughts exactly after watching Crocodile. And had new found respect for my parents for being able to draw boundaries (however they could).
Crocodile is usually in the list of episodes I give people to watch first
Never thought about that, but you know, so would I. That episode is really intense!

Eulogy
Common people destroyed me but sentimental cries with San Junipero en Eulogy
Many of them, but Common People most recently. It hit home a lot to my personal situation.
San Junipero
This is the one. It stands up completely on its own a could've been a movie.
💯
Common People.
That episode is so gut wrenching. Quit halfway through and I never intend to finish it bc that shit is too depressing for me
Good decision. Because it gets even more sad
Eulogy, my greatest fear in life is not having lived the best life I can before it’s too late, and letting the one slip by.
While creepy, scary, or downright mental and entertaining some episodes can be this one feels the most grounded and real, and almost existential. I really enjoyed the tone and atmosphere of the episode as well.
Hi guys! As a longtime fan of black mirror I'm putting together a black mirror inspired Russian constructivism poster for my art/ design assignment. I need some memorable, strong, emotional, or "wow"-worthy lines, preferably about the future, technology, how everyone's doing it, how you will be left behind, anything strong, or propaganda-ey etc.
Help me out? I'll post the final when it's done of course.
"[...] People think it’s a happy game. It’s not a happy game. It’s a fucking nightmare world. And the worst thing is? It’s real and we live in it." - Colin Ritman in Bandersnatch
You could do "strong and pure" from MAF. I also love that Colin quote.
Creating/joining mutual aid exchanges of goods and services, calling/emailing your representatives, reminding individuals that "the other" is not the one making their lives worse...all of this sounds so hard when you compare it to watching short films about "Yeah but measuring personal worth via bank account numbers is much nicer than this imagined dystopia from another extreme of the slippery slope fallacy!"
I thought this when I watched it the first time too, except now I'd be happy to see one particular politician fuck a pig
That episode was based on the very real scandal about David Cameron having fucked a pig as part of a hazing ritual. That one wasn't even a prediction, it was satire of a real event.
Not according to Brooker himself, very much a coincidence.
It's successful for the same reason as 1984: it takes a current observation of the status quo and extrapolates what is almost certainly going to happen, then repackages it as "dystopian fiction" instead of correctly labeling it as "realistic extrapolation".
This is a good point for at least several of the episodes, like the off-brand Boston Dynamics military robo-dogs episode certainly sticks out in my mind. However, for the sake of my argument, I am going to ignore your very solid point, and say the following.
Nuh-uh!
Ah... exceptional argument, but consider: your mother.
Dystopian (and utopian) fiction have always been extrapolations from trends in the author's present.
Zamyatin's We: Taylorist production, surveillance and the governance of everyday life.
Huxley's Brave New World: consumerism, pharmological governance, disciplinary potential of welfare state.
More's Utopia: monastic living, colonial exploration, resistance to enclosure.
...except some of the best regarded episodes paint an optimistic vision of the future too.
San Junipero, anyone?
I was hoping to imply that Netflix knows what it's doing. I don't think I did that very well at all. I appreciate you for putting that in perspective! ❤️
Ah yes, a criticism of Stalin so strong that it got banned as communist propaganda in the US...
It's not an anti-communist book. It is anti-authoritarian. And the fact that you can't tell the difference tells me that you should give it a read.
Ah man you're right, I always forget about the pig. I take it back
I think there is a positive value to cautionary tales, and Black Mirror does them very well.
