What Redditors are Saying

Where to Buy Discounted Perfumes Online

Reputable Discount Sites

Several online retailers are known for offering discounted perfumes. FragranceNet and FragranceX are frequently recommended due to their competitive prices and reputable status [1:1][2:1][4:3]. Jomashop is another popular choice, often praised for its lower prices after taxes and shipping [1:1][4:2]. Other notable mentions include Fragrancebuy.ca, MaxAroma, and Perfume Empire, which also offer good deals on testers and full bottles [3:1][3:2].

Discount Strategies

Discount sites often employ strategies such as cutting out middlemen and bulk buying unsold inventory from retailers [1:3][1:6]. This allows them to pass savings onto consumers. Additionally, using coupon extensions like Honey can provide further discounts [2:6].

Authenticity Concerns

Many users confirm that fragrances purchased from these discount sites are authentic, with some even listed as official retailers on fragrance brands' websites [4:1]. However, it's important to shop around and set alerts to get the best pricing. While some users have reported receiving fakes, these instances seem rare and may be attributed to misunderstandings or unrealistic expectations [4:7][4:8].

Shopping Experience

Online shopping for perfumes offers a low-pressure environment compared to in-store experiences, where sales reps can sometimes make customers feel rushed or judged [5:2]. Many users appreciate the convenience of online shopping, especially when trusted sites offer free shipping and returns [5:5]. While testing perfumes in-store provides an opportunity to smell scents before purchasing, online platforms often provide better deals and access to niche or hyped fragrances not always available in physical stores [5:6].

Recommendations Beyond Discussions

When purchasing discounted perfumes online, consider checking multiple sites to compare prices and availability. Look for sites with good return policies and customer reviews to ensure a satisfactory shopping experience. If possible, start with samples to avoid investing in full bottles of fragrances you haven't tried before.

ORIGINAL POST

What is it that places like fragrancenet do to sell at low purchases? And is it a good place to buy? And has anyone bought from there before and it received.

Kurse_Kustoms · 9 months ago

They cut out middle men typically. Fragrance.net is very reputable. I have always used Jomashop.com myself. After taxes and shipping they usually always end up even cheaper than Fragrance.net.

Here's a list from one of the fragrance groups I'm in on Facebook. These are all reputable discount sites.

I’m not exactly sure and really don’t care to be completely honest. I’m just glad to be able to pay good prices for fragrances. Why do you care so much for all the details anyway?

The more pairs of hands the fragrance touches = the more expensive it will be for the end-consumer. Sites like Fragrancenet obtain their fragrance's from the manufacture and sell it to you. But, Sephora, for example, has to obtain their fragrances from wholesalers (their purchase price). Then, ship it to a physical location, advertise it, pay their overhead, then the mark the prices where they can make their fixed margin.

RhinestoneToad · 9 months ago

This, I'm getting so many targeted ads from sephora right now, advertising on that level alone costs big $$$, and the consumer must pay for it, like all business expenses, at the end of the day, fragrancenet relies almost entirely on word of mouth and is therefore invested in maintaining a good reputation as reputable and reliable, the only major downside is they use ontrac shipping and ontrac tracking, updates, customer service and delivery times all suck so bad it gives people anxiety

2 upvotes on reddit
Jackp237 · 9 months ago

🙌 And, Agreed. OnTrac is one of the worst delivery services. It must be extremely cheap for them.

They bulk buy unsold/excess inventory from retailers at a discount. This is why it takes frags 6 months to a year from release until they hit discounters. Most are legit, I haven't had a problem yet.

I see Jomashop a lot but I’ve heard of a few people receiving fakes 🫤

1 upvotes on reddit
P
Pristine-Fusion6591 · 2 years ago

Yeah it can happen anywhere. But I have never received a fake from them. I know I saw a recent post claiming fake, a PDM, but it didn’t look fake to me. People blind buy shit, and it doesn’t live up to their expectations, and they say it’s fake.

The other thing is, usually the counterfeit boxes are pretty good, and half the people I see claiming fakes, post one picture of the front of the box and ask if their order is counterfeit. It’s clear that the people doing that have no clue what they are doing.

You need to look at the front, back, and bottom of box.

You need to look at the bottle, the cap, the writing on bottom of the bottle, the atomizer, the tube inside the bottle (when it’s visible)… my point is, half the people wondering if they have a fake have absolutely no idea what to look for, and they buy something because some youtuber says it will make them popular and loved by all, then when they get it, they don’t like it so they figure it must be fake.

That recent post about a PDM, I didn’t respond because I’d need more pictures in order to have any confidence with helping… but the front of the box did not look fake.

Stay away from Amazon and eBay, and anything that looks like a much better price than ANYWHERE else. If it seems to good to be true, it usually is.

I have trust with jomashop though. Been shopping there for years.

If you're specifically looking to try fragrances you haven't before, I'd suggest buying samples (1-2ml) to start. There's reliable sources in the community resources. Otherwise you'll waste a lot of money on full bottles, even at discounted prices.

Yes they are 100% authentic. Some are even listed as official retailers on the fragrance brands' websites. Of course it takes some shopping around, setting email alerts, and being ready to buy quickly in order to get the best pricing. These are the ones I've had good experiences with:

  • Fragrancebuy.ca Consistently some of the best pricing, best loyalty program, but low stock on popular stuff
  • Maxaroma.com Good prices with discount codes and no sales tax outside of NY state
  • Jomashop.com Not the best prices but lots in stock if you're in a rush
  • Fragrancenet.com Better selection than pricing but reasonably priced 8ml decants
  • Decantx.com The best priced site for decants. Perfect for trying stuff out before buying big bottles

Would there be a difference in quality between buying it from a store like Bloomingdale’s or directly from the brand’s site? I usually either purchase from Bloomingdale’s/Neiman Marcus or the brand’s website directly.

This list will usually give you Grey market prices. Department stores will give you retail prices. If you’re buying Chanel, buy direct or department store, anything, there’s no reason to pay a higher price for the same thing

Where do you usually shop for perfume — in store or online discount sites?

Posted by BorderKullde · in r/Perfumes · 2 months ago

Curious where everyone prefers to shop for fragrance. I’ve always loved testing perfumes in store, but honestly… sometimes the sales reps can really kill the vibe. I’ve had a few experiences where I felt super rushed or judged, and it just made me want to walk out. Lately I’ve been leaning more into online shopping — especially from discount fragrance sites. No pressure, way better prices, and I can take my time choosing. Some even offer free shipping + returns, so it feels way more low-stress. Still, I do miss being able to smell things in person. It’s such a dilemma lol. Would love to hear where you shop and what’s worked best for you!

I live in an area with a Sephora and Ulta but we don’t have any bougie department stores. The nearest Nordstrom is 2 hours away. We have a Dillard but it’s quite small. So I’m pretty restricted to brands sold by Sephora and Ulta. I’m pretty basic though so I’m quite happy. I do blind order online from them occasionally since they have good return policies.

9 upvotes on reddit
BorderKullde · OP · 2 months ago

Yeah I totally get that—if you don’t live near a big mall, going in-store just becomes a whole mission 😅 I actually really like shopping at Sephora and Ulta too, but more for skincare and makeup. When it comes to fragrance, I’ve found that a lot of the time I can get the same ones cheaper online. Plus, some of the newer or more hyped scents aren’t always in stock there. So as long as I trust the site and it’s 100% authentic, I usually just go for the better deal.

I really like testing in store. When I get to the store and am immediately approached by a sales person, I ask their name and make sure i remember it. Then I tell that person by name that I am not sure what I am looking for as I already have a large collection but I will know it when I smell it. I would really like to just roam and sniff. I let them roam with me but I tell them all the things I am not interested in. I like niche only, with the exception of a few designers. I don't like vanilla, iris or anything aldehyde.

I do ask if they have any new houses, what is on sale and what do they have that's unusual. Get them to work for you.

I have sales associates at several stores that text me now when there is a new line or a sale. I also get to tell the other SAs that approached me that I am working with that person.

I don't like shopping online unless it is for something I have already smelled or a discovery set.

BorderKullde · OP · 2 months ago

Totally get you! I used to only buy perfumes after testing in stores too. But lately I’ve been watching way too many TikToks of people showing their fav scents 😂 and sometimes I just get tempted to order online straight away. Following the trend I guess lol.

If I had a store that sold niche scents near me, I would be there like every day and save so much money smelling things for free 😂 But I live 2 hours away from the nearest bougie mall so I buy samples and hunt for discounts online. For my birthday last year I went to that mall and spent the entire day smelling things. All the associates treated me like I was crazy and lost, but I had a great time sniffing until I was well past noseblind

Shopping in person has become annoying because everything is locked up.  To smell something at my ulta you have to wait for a sales associate to unlock the cabinet and spray it on a strip for you.  I understand why they do this but it takes away from the experience.  Sephora is a little better but everything is still attached to strings.

I love me a well stocked perfume counter! I have a perfume BFF in each of my favorite stores. Developing a relationship with an SA can be hard because people don't stay in retail for long. However, that's not the case here. I have been shopping with some of these ladies for over a decade. They have my number and address. They send me samples and text me when they have sales because they know I like to buy in bulk.

I will buy things online when I don't feel like going out. I'm in the US. I shop at Harrods and Selfridges online. A lot of their fragrances are cheaper even with shipping. Harrods will often have a sale on fragrances. I haven't purchased from either one in a while. Not sure about prices and shipping costs now. Selfridges has a shipping program where you pay a one time fee annually and shipping is free all year. I use to do that but, they stopped putting a lot of items online. I would purchase things besides perfume. Now, most of the merch matches the prices here on some of the other items I like to purchase.

I prefer the counter. I love chatting with the SAs.

Best websites to buy perfumes online in the USA (with good discounts)?

Posted by bbatasari · in r/fragranceclones · 5 months ago

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to buy some perfumes online here in the US and wanted to know what your go-to websites are for legit stuff and good deals. I’m not necessarily after the newest releases—just looking for a trustworthy site with decent discounts, maybe even some niche or designer options.

I’ve heard of sites like FragranceNet and FragranceX, but I’d love to hear your experiences or any hidden gems you guys use. Also, how’s the shipping time and packaging from these sites?

Appreciate any tips or recommendations. Thanks in advance!

For fragrancenet.net you can usually get 35-40% off if you Google the scent you want and then click on the result from fragrancenet.net, it will automatically apply the highest discount coupon when you go to the site by clicking on the link in Google. FragranceX.com always has 15% off sale it seems.

I think many of the fragrance discounters are considered grey market. They are often overstocks from authorized retailers, older stock, discontinued/discontinuing scents or packaging, or tester bottles. Once in a while, you might see a discounter selling a bottle or 2 that were underfilled or have some mistake or irregularity on the packaging/bottle.

r/fragranceswap does a pretty good job of vetting sellers. You can also see how many sales they have made. I have made two purchases there with no issues. Definitely worth taking a look but as always use your best judgement and vet the sellers for yourself. If anything seems off then don’t pull the trigger. I also always use a credit card or PayPal to give myself some level of protection if I have an issue.

If you’re interested in sampling before committing (even to decants) call Nordstrom’s fragrance department and they will ship you whatever samples you request for free. Research first, so you know what/how many you want and if Nordstrom carries them. Your best bet is calling their Seattle flagship location.

Some other department stores might offer this too. I learned about this a few months ago while on the hunt for a specific note.

Edited for grammar.

Fragrancebuy.ca is basically where I buy all of my fragrances. They have a ton of positive reviews on TrustPilot.

Otherwise Venba Fragrance is good too. Newer store but seems to be an established seller according to people on Reddit. My only purchase from them has been Amouage Reflection Man and it seems to be legit. Smells like my sample directly from Amouage.

FragranceX and FragranceNet are good last resorts. Their prices tend to be higher than the other two I mentioned above. FragranceNet usually has a 35% off coupon year round that changes codes occasionally. You’ll have to search the web and find the latest one. FragranceX only ever seems to do their ongoing 15% off sale.

But Fragrancebuy.ca is really great. I always check there first.

Also, as a consideration about fragrancebuy.ca. if you live in the US keep in mind they ship to US only once a week (or used to for years). So depending when you order it might take a week to actually ship, in addition to the time needed to make it to you once it does. Prices and selection are superb though.

They seem to carry harder-to-get/discontinued stuff occasionally which is really nice.

As an even more broke high school kid, highly recommend buying decants, which are like samples but a little bigger and intended to be sold. You’ll pay more for the volume you’re getting, but you can get so many more different fragrances for your money! For example, I got a 10ml spray of jpg ultramale for $16, and a 125ml costs $100.

Where to buy discounted perfumes online

Key Considerations for Buying Discounted Perfumes Online:

  1. Reputable Retailers: Stick to well-known and reputable websites to avoid counterfeit products. Look for retailers with good customer reviews and return policies.

  2. Authorized Sellers: Check if the site is an authorized dealer of the brands you’re interested in. This ensures you’re getting genuine products.

  3. Sales and Promotions: Keep an eye out for seasonal sales, clearance events, or promotional codes that can help you save even more.

  4. Comparison Shopping: Use price comparison tools or websites to find the best deals across multiple retailers.

  5. Shipping Costs: Factor in shipping fees when comparing prices, as some sites may offer lower prices but charge high shipping costs.

Recommended Websites:

  • FragranceNet: Offers a wide selection of discounted perfumes and often has sales and coupon codes.
  • FragranceX: Known for competitive prices and a large inventory of authentic fragrances.
  • Amazon: Look for reputable sellers with good ratings, and check for discounts on popular brands.
  • eBay: Be cautious and check seller ratings, but you can find great deals on new and gently used perfumes.
  • RetailMeNot: A coupon site that can help you find discount codes for various fragrance retailers.

Takeaway: Always read reviews and check return policies before making a purchase to ensure you’re satisfied with your buy.
