The manga has shown that simple domain can be used to nullify dismantle, if Inumaki is able to use it then his injuries make sense, he would be caught off guard by the start of the attack but protect himself once he realizes he’s in danger

I mean even being in the range of Sukuna during Shibuya is pretty much death. So I'd imagine barely escaping would still mean grievous injuries, so I'd say it wouldn't be hard to believe.

In episode 17 during the fight against Mahoraga, you can see Inumaki briefly at the 9:20 mark. He looks like he could’ve already been hit given his swaying motions

Ok for one he was, in the range he was trying save people and get them to a safer location. Some people even talked about them before Sukuna vaporized them with his domains. Also Sukuna's domains biggest point is that for the amount of power it has, people have the chance to escape the domain and it is very possible that he was barely at the edge of the domain when he got hit and was able to escape.

Also it doesn't really need to be the domain he might have suffered the damage during Sukuna vs Jogo.

Sukuna's domain provides an exit, thats what makes its range so large, by providing an exit it creates a binding vow which enhances its range.

If you move fast enough, you can go outside sukuna's domain without dying.

Mahoraga did not escape the domain because he was at the center of a 70 meter radius DE, and he was too overwhelmed to move out fast enough. We literally see him on the ground trying to heal from the cuts.

Remember that Sukuna has his domain set up so that people can escape which increases the range.

Everything got wiped out after Sukuna used Fuga which burned everything but there was some time between opening his domain and using Fuga that Inumaki could have barely escaped the slicing

Mahoraga wasn't trying to escape, it was trying to kill Sukuna and had already adapted to the slashes.

I feel like he’s wasted potential. They need let him use cursed speech on a bunch of weaker curses and have them do stuff for support or something man. Just using a couple words and almost dying every so often is an injustice

cursed speech could’ve gone higher i think it’s beautiful how much this series spoke to all of us but according to them it didn’t speak to Gege as deeply it’s unfortunate but at the same time we can kind of play w the story this way who is to say it wasn’t the original plan for inumaki but then Gege lost heart maybe they had some personal problems and the story got kind of rushed Jjk could’ve easily been close to 400 chapters if Gege was having fun

Cursed speech is already pretty OP and personally, I think the way it was utilized in the story is fine as is

I think the chapter you’re looking for is chapter 119. It’s when Sukuna activates Malevolent Shrine against Mahoraga and kills a bunch of people who were hiding in one of the buildings.

Nanami blitzed the grade 2 or semi grade 1 pony tailed curse user. Like it was embarrassing, he tried to kick Nanami and it felt like kicking a wall, slashing him with the sword barely did anything, and if not for his cursed technique he would’ve been one shot killed by Nanami. Nanami also survived 2 domain expansions, even if it was just by chance or outside help it’s nothing to be scoffed at. He also survived being burnt by Jogo’s flames, and he was considered to be the strongest of the nature spirits, then again Maki did survive as well but she has the low cursed energy heavenly restriction.

As for Inumaki, we haven’t seen his full potential nor have we seen what his power in the hands of a pro sorcerer would be like, unless you would count Yuta since he is special grade but the grades of those spirits he killed with cursed speech are unknown. I hope we possibly see an ancient sorcerer with cursed speech, who has some insanely powerful words or something. Also, Inumaki is the same grade as the dude with the auspicious beasts summoning, which is semi-grade one. Though there’s a major gap between semi-grade one sorcerers and true grade one sorcerers.

As KamKFF said, they may be underutilized in fights, but not as characters, especially Nanami. While Nanami fans respect his abilities, they (ok, we) love him because of his presence and the security that he gives Yuuji. It's refreshing to see an adult in shonen anime actually be an adult and put the childrens' safety above their own.

Inumaki definitely needs more of a backstory. I do like his character, but I'd love to know more about him.

I feel like you're putting too much stock into power levels when judging Nanamis 'character'. Nanami was able to beat Mahito into a stalemate in his first fight and had a good showing ever since then. His presence in the story and his character arc was well enough to cement him as a great character for me, and focusing mainly on his fights seem like a big disservice to what he brought to the series overall. Maybe a renaming of the title would be needed if you're trying to ask "Are they wasted in fights" and not as characters, because a character is more than their fights. The manga isn't over and Inumaki is still alive so probably waiting until he reappears to pass judgement is better.

Nanami is not wasted. He has his character arc complete, badass moments and motivations, ideology, and his death is highly emotional and consequently because it develops Yuji, Gojo when he’s unsealed, and possibly the comedian if he has Nanami’s technique. Heck if Higuruma got stronger with transfiguration. I sure Nanami’s technique will be more powerful with the comedian.

As for Toge, we’ll Gege did said he has no plan with him. So maybe he will be use after the Culling Games.

I think I may have burst a tiny blood vessel at the sight of the title lol. I don't think they're wasted, they served their purposes well and inumaki isn't even out the picture yet. It's just the current arc is much smaller scale (in terms of characters involved), so our focus isn't on much of the cast

Kusakabe and Ino (Ino more too) actually landing their attacks on Sukuna and doing (minimal) damage will still stick with me because I always felt it like should have been impossible.

The fact that they didn't die AND didn't sustain severe damages (kinda) is really, and I mean REALLY impressive.
