Additional Options

Additionally, IKEA offers a bottle brush designed for swing top bottles with narrow necks, providing a specific solution for unique bottle shapes
[4:2].
In summary, choosing the best baby bottle brush depends on your specific needs, such as budget, bottle types, and desired features. The OXO Tot, Dr. Brown's, and Boon Cacti sets offer excellent options for different preferences and requirements.
Hey everyone,
I'm currently on the hunt for the best baby bottle brush out there, and I could use some recommendations from those who have tried different options. With so many choices available, it's tough to know which one truly stands out in terms of effectiveness, durability, and ease of use.
Here are a few features I'm particularly interested in:
If you've found a baby bottle brush that meets these criteria or have any recommendations based on your own experiences, please share them below. I'm eager to hear your insights and make an informed decision for my baby's feeding routine.
Thanks in advance for your help!
What do you use to clean your Spectra pump? I've been using a standard bottle brush, but the sponge at the top keeps getting torn up on the flange. I tried switching to a silicone brush, but it doesn’t seem to clean as well. What works for you?
When selecting an electric baby bottle brush, prioritize quality and design. Look for a brush with durable bristles that can effectively clean all parts of the bottle, including hard-to-reach areas. The brush should have an ergonomic handle and a user-friendly design, with features like a built-in base for storage and charging. Check if it offers different cleaning modes or additional features like UV sterilization, and ensure it is compatible with the bottles you use.
Consider the power source, such as whether the brush is battery-operated or rechargeable, and evaluate battery life. Opt for a model that is easy to maintain with detachable parts and dishwasher-safe components. Safety is crucial, so verify that the brush is made from baby-safe materials and meets quality standards. Comparing prices, reading user reviews, and checking warranty options can help you make a well-informed decision.
Baby bottle brushes are specifically designed for parents or caregivers who are responsible for cleaning and maintaining baby bottles and related feeding accessories. They are particularly useful for:
Overall, baby bottle brushes are for anyone involved in the care of infants who use bottles for feeding. They are an essential tool for maintaining a clean and hygienic feeding environment, promoting the health and well-being of babies during their early stages of development.

I recently bought the OXO Tot Bottle Brush and it's been a game-changer for washing bottles. The brush has a comfortable grip, soft bristles that clean thoroughly without scratching, and an integrated silicone nipple cleaner for small openings. The included stand with a drip tray keeps my countertop clean and allows the brush to dry properly. After months of use, the bristles are still in great shape. I highly recommend it for its effectiveness and durability.
I need a bottle brush recommendation.
Features I'm looking for:
A brush head narrow enough that I can scrub into the intake part of a breast pump cone or being able to scrub out the narrow inside of a nipple without taking the brush apart/using a secondary brush.
Durable construction. The other brushes I have used can't stand up to vigorous use. My brushes with a twisted wire design gave out after a couple weeks of scrubbing. I want something I don't have to baby.
In other words, the durable brush I used to use couldn't get into narrow parts and the brushes I have liked for their ability to clean narrow parts weren't durable enough.
I'm cleaning out Spectra-compatible cones and Comotomo bottles, if that narrows the selection down.
Thanks in advance!
Try Oxo’s bottle brush? It has a small brush built into the body of the handle for nooks and crannies.
It's a good brush! The minibrush is great for getting into nipples, but it won't fit it into the output end of the spectra cones. I kept noticing a bit of milky residue at the angle :/.
Thanks for the recommendation, though!
Bro, just go to the store and get a bottle brush.
I've gotten a lot of bottle brushes. I'm sick of having to buy bottle brushes. :/
I would pay really good money for some completely overengineered contraption to accomplish this task.
Oxo makes a three piece one on like a white keychain that has funky sizes that might work
I’m also cleaning spectra flanges and como tomo bottles... we recently started using dr Browns bottle brush. They are cheap enough that we bought 3-4 in case they didn’t last, but we’ve been on the same one for about 3 weeks now. The tip is sponge material that allows you to get in the tube in the funnel side of the flange. The opposite end of the brush is for cleaning nipples. It’s a good compromise of functionality and durability. 3.99 each on amazon
Yeah...
Me breaking one of these is what inspired the post originally :/
Thanks for taking the time to respond though - I appreciate it.
Strange request. My bottle brush just broke. I use it to clean my smoothie cups. You guys got any recommendations?
I'm on my second toddler and I've been using the munchkin ones for years. I got a two-pack and each one lasted me through two years with pump parts and bottles being washed daily.
Find a store that sells home-brew supplies. They will sell a brush that will last a decade or so.
Good luck finding a cleaning tool that lasts for life.
I get redecker wood and hair brushes on Amazon. No plastic. They’ll wear out eventually but they’re cheap.
We tend to go for OXO brand kitchen gadgets, including bottle brushes..
Long story, short: My dishwasher is not quite cutting it in terms of sanitizing my bottles. What are the best bottle brushes that you have found? I’m trying to stay away from Amazon if I can. I already tried to go to my local market only to have both brush heads be too big to fit in my swing top bottles.
Edited to add: when my depression killed my last kombucha batch, I also let some SCOBY dry to the inside of my bottles. I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t notice until the second round of f2- so now I am trying to scrub the heck out of these bottles to get them clean again.
IKEA’s bottle brush was designed for swing top bottles with narrow necks https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/medelvag-bottle-brush-white-40385067/
I use this one. It works well. Plus I also give it a good wash with mature kombucha from my scoby hotel
I got a wine bottle brush at the brewer's supply store. I was able to test that it would work as they also have the swing top bottles.
It was funny that the guy at the counter hadn't known that this was a problem, but there he was, mystified that the regular bottle brush wouldn't fit thru the neck ;)
Bottle brushes don't really do it because the neck hinders the brush from reaching the sides of the bottle.
Superfine steel wool and a REALLY strong magnet
Steel wool inside with water and soap Wrap magnet in a cloth and rub it on the outside to move the steel wool around.
I can't take credit for this brilliant idea. Got it on this sub about a year ago. I'm just here to spread the good news.
I may try this! I have some steel wool at home and some rare earth magnets.
As soon as I empty a bottle I rinse it out with hot water (as hot as the tap can go). You can do a distilled vinegar rinse after for sanitizing if you want. Zero issues. Nothing ever gets stuck.
To couple with that, another super easy option for sanitizing is starsan, one thing of it will last like years, just fill the sink with warm water, squirt a tiny amount in and then dunk everything, dont even need to rinse it.
If you're in US and near Dollar Tree, their baby bottle brush works well for pint-size kombucha bottles.
If you put water with some baking soda in and let it soak a while (3-4 hrs or so), the dried-on stuff should come away ok.
Things get on top of any one of us sometimes. No shame, just a chance to learn and move ahead. ❤️
What brush do you use? I am trying to find a quality reusable brush.
I use the oxo set for my pump parts and the boob for bottles. I am the one with a hard touch because they all look like they need to be replaced soon!
Currently using the Munchkin one but want to try the Oxo one!
I love my OXO one because of the base and how it drains excess liquid easily. Unfortunately the bristles became bent down pretty quick but I still use it regardless.
Boon Cacti Bottle Cleaning Brush Set (4pcs), Green https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082PZ44M9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9S0FDHFQ4WT1XXJGJ5N7
I used this for 3 months before the brushes needed to be replaced (8 pump part and bottle washings per day really gave it a beating!), but I loved it while had it!
I’m surprised. I’ve had it through two kids and run it in the dishwasher. Maybe I just got lucky with a more sturdy one!
I have both the Boon Cactus brush set and the Dr. Browns' silicone brush. Love both
I’ve just been using the munchkin ones and just replace them regularly.
Can anyone recommend bottle brushes that can actually scrub the entire interior of a standard 32oz bail top bottle? There are dozens of listings for this set of brushes on Amazon. None of them can reach the bottom corners or sides to free up little bits of ground ginger.

I've used a plastic baby bottle brush for years but it's really at the end of its life and I'd like to replace it with something that is not plastic. Does anyone have any diy solutions they use to clean bottles? Barring that, do you have a favorite eco- brush you use?
I have multiple coconut brushes but this is my favorite because it is skinny enough to fit in any size neck and it’s really long so it works for the the tallest bottles too.
I prefer (https://mighty.market/products/milk-bottle-brush) But there’s also https://mighty.market/products/wire-bottle-brush
I use hot water and baking soda or salt. A lot of baking soda or salt. Screw the top on and shake it like I am playing the maracas. The abrasive in the water usually breaks things up nicely.
I have also done well with a rough cloth and a wooden chopstick in a pinch.
I've used uncook rice in the same way. I'm unsure how it compares in terms of abrasiveness so I wouldn't try on anything with a special coating.
Following bc same!!!!
When my kids used bottles we went though dozens of sponge-end brushes. They cleaned the best but also deteriorated so fast. I found a all silicone brush on Amazon and it works really well.
What do you all use to clean narrow-necked bottles? If you have a favorite, please share a link! Photo is my first pour of some strawberry passion fruit flavored kombucha.
As long as there are enough bristles on a wire core, the exact brand doesn't matter to me. The shape is more important. I bend mine in a way that resembles a simple Tetris block and don't have any problems.
The other trick is to rinse the bottle immediately. Dried on gunk is much harder to remove.
You'll find all manner of advice in homebrew forums. These include chemicals, rock salt, rice, and as the other user wrote lentils.
Wait.. you guys do more than just rinse them out??
Uh oh..
If you rinse well right after pouring the bottle you shouldn’t have to do anything else. IMO.
I just use some lentils and soapy water shake it around until it’s all done. I also usually wait till I have a few bottles and soak them about 15 min before I do it. I hated all the bottle brushes I’ve used so far.
Lentils? I guess they would be nice and clean and ready for cooking then?
I just compost I use like a table spoon it like loosens all the particles. You can also buy metal cleaning pearls for the same purpose
I got some of these recently and they worked fantastically well in conjunction with the largest one of these! The pea pods are just drop shipped so I actually got them directly via aliexpress and they’re a lot cheaper but also take a lot longer to arrive.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a bottle brush?
If you are open for alternatives: stainless steel balls/cleaning beads. Little balls like ball bearings or soft air BBs. Either just stainless steel or copper coated. I have brought some specifically for cleaning bottles, but I am 95% sure they are just repackaged cooper coated BBs people use in Airsoft.
They can get into corners better, but a brush is way easier to handle! You need a shive and a funnel for handling the BBs. For occasional use or weird shapes (vases) you can’t get into with a brush I can recommend them. Given your fine motor skills are okay. I use mine for my aluminium water bottles, the rest goes into the dishwasher.
I think they’ll outlast a brush if you don’t lose them. Corrosion (rust) will be the thing that limits their lifetime so make sure to rinse them and dry properly.
Maybe think about lead testing them, if you don’t get them from a trusted “this is meant for kitchen use” source.
I'm betting on baby bottle brush it might just puff out with time
He’s 4 months old so it may puff up! My 6 YO asked me why he has a fluffy tail and not our calico so I showed him this thread for bottle brushes and he said he hopes his kitty gets one too! 😃
lovely
So smol 🩷

Additional Features: Some brushes come with a nipple cleaner or a built-in stand, which can be convenient for drying and storage.
Ease of Cleaning: Choose a brush that can be easily rinsed and dried to prevent bacteria buildup.
