TL;DR
Boon Nursh Bottles
The Boon Nursh bottles are frequently praised for their lightweight design and ease of cleaning. They come in multiple sizes and can be converted into sippy cups with additional attachments, making them versatile as your baby grows [1:2],
[1:5]. Users have noted the importance of ensuring the lid is secured properly, but overall, they find these bottles convenient and effective
[1:1].
Comotomo Bottles
Comotomo bottles are another popular choice due to their silicone material and ease of cleaning. However, some lactation consultants do not recommend them for breastfeeding babies because the nipple design does not closely resemble a human nipple, which could lead to latch issues [1:9],
[3:6]. Despite this, many parents have successfully used them for bottle feeding alongside breastfeeding
[1:11],
[3:4].
Dr. Brown's Bottles
While Dr. Brown’s bottles are often recommended for their anti-colic features, they are primarily available in glass rather than silicone. Some users have found them cumbersome due to the number of parts [5:1],
[5:8]. For those concerned about breakability, silicone sleeves can provide added protection
[2:3],
[3:7].
Evenflo Balance+ Bottles
Evenflo Balance+ bottles are recommended by lactation consultants for promoting a good latch in breastfed babies. They are available in glass, which is preferred by some for safety reasons, and are confirmed to be lead-free [4:3].
Considerations Beyond the Discussions
When choosing a baby bottle, consider factors such as ease of cleaning, compatibility with breastfeeding, and durability. It may also be beneficial to try different bottles to see which one your baby prefers, as individual preferences can vary widely. Additionally, consulting with a lactation consultant can provide personalized recommendations based on your baby's needs.
I have always used plastic Avent bottles, but am wanting to switch to silicone for the next baby (plan to breastfeed, but would love to bottle feed breastmilk).
I don't like the como tomo colours (which I know, is minor) but I plan to buy pre-gender "reveal". And I know baby might not take the bottle, but I'd like to have a couple different options in advance.
Glass I'm partial to (for the Avent) but without the protectors available scares me. Current toddler is a bottle thrower.
We love love love the Boon Nursh bottles! Love that they come in two sizes, super easy to clean, you can start with a small set and get more as you need them. And you can get attachments to pump directly into the bottles, or to turn the bottles into sippy cups later on. We mostly BF with the occasional bottle of milk or formula to top him up due to weight gain issues, and there have been no issues switching between the breast and bottle.
What about Boon bottles? My babe doesn’t do well with those more rounded nipples like the Avent or boon but they are silicone. And the inside part is removable.
Boon!!
They are so light weight and easy to clean.
You can also get a straw lid attachment for the bottles so you can convert the bottle to a straw cup. Our baby loves them!
My daughter was ebf until 8 months she’s on boon bottles now.
The Avent glass ones are pretty indestructible. We did occasional bottles and mainly breastfeeding but they survived a bunch of falls (baby and adult/dish drainer) onto a hard tile floor and getting thrown down a flight of stairs. There is also a little neoprene type sleeve for them although I don’t know how it’s sold, I was given it secondhand
Yup same here - we’ve used avent glass for 15 months now and none have broken despite being dropped quite a few times onto the tile floor…. Baby isn’t a thrower but we do have a silicone sleeve from Amazon that we’ve used a few times when traveling. I combo fed so she had a bottle top up most feeding sessions so plenty of use!
My baby couldn't figure out the Como Tomo bottles as a newborn. Literally could not drink from them.
Also love the Como Tomo bottles. Love how easy they are to clean and green is a neutral 🤷♀️ Just an fyi that they’re not recommended by lactation consultants for babys who breastfeed as it doesn’t resemble a human nipple. We EFF and love them.
Did your LC have more nipple-like options in either glass or silicone? I am eyeing up Life Factory glass bottles too.
We used Comotomo bottles and combo fed our baby with them with no problem.
I believe this. I EBF and have the como tomo for when someone is watching babe. Her latch on the bottle is terrible, so much so that she makes weird faces afterwards for hours (sucking on her upper lip) and has a painful latch when she nurses again.
But the bottles are pretty easy for her to take and to clean. So for the very occasional time she needs a bottle I’m not replacing them.
Fwiw, I used the Boon Nursh Bottles with my first and we really liked them. They were easy to clean and use. The only difficulty was having to double check the lid went on right every time as they are marginally more difficult than the other bottles we tried. But baby and I both loved them.
Does anyone have baby bottle recommendations? My criteria is ; No glass , anti colic, no toxic chemicals from plastic. Partner and I are planning to start trying and want to have ideas prepared
Is there something specific you're looking for in a baby bottle?
I really like the Dr Brown's for air flow, and if you want to avoid plastic they do make them in glass.
Here to second the glass Dr. Brown’s bottles. Ours have been dropped and thrown many times over the past year and we haven’t had a single ding or crack. Also, this lazy mom loves how easily they clean in the dishwasher.
I love love love our Dr Brown’s, but for the life of me can’t find the glass ones anywhere. It’s really frustrating because we just want to replace the one I dropped on the concrete.
Dr Browns + the silicone covers. I’d be absolutely shocked if that broke. The only time we ever broke one was when my husband dropped one out of his truck onto the pavement, and it was not in the silicone sleeve. I’m now using them again for baby two, also with zero breakage
In case your issue with glass is the breakability, they do make silicone sleeves that can go over the glass bottles. We use those for daycare and they work great! We also have yet to break a glass bottle, amazingly.
which glass bottles do you use?
We use and love the Dr. Brown's glass bottles. There is a plastic component on the inside that you can remove.
Agree with silicone sleeves. The Lifefactory bottles are glass and come with fitted silicone sleeves that actually clean with the bottle really well! Definitely recommend.
Why no glass? Glass is definitely the cleanest. They don’t break. I have Avent and my 1 year olds throws his to the ground and They haven’t broken. They are heavy though.
We use Comotomo which are silicone.
Just a couple words of caution:
Trying may take longer than you think. My husband and I ended up needing help to conceive, so our timeline from starting to try on our own and our son was 3 years. I can’t imagine how much harder that time would have been if I’d been deep into baby item research or had acquired things yet. (But everyone’s path is different so it may happen quickly for you and daydreaming about baby bottles might bring you peace, not trying to yuck your yum!)
Babies don’t always like the things we want them to like. We tried like 6 or 7 different bottles before we found the ones he would take well. We tried allll the popular and recommended ones (Avent, Dr browns, Lansinoh, Mam, etc) and worked with a lactation consultant on bottle feeding (along with breast feeding). So, I’d suggest not investing in a large amount of any bottle before establishing that baby will drink from that one.
Yeah we got a bunch of sample bottles from various places during my first pregnancy. They'd just send them to us! They're part of welcome boxes, gift boxes, registry completion boxes, etc etc etc. So we had several to try out before settling on the ones we did. I had identical twins and each baby actually preferred a different bottle even!
And before I had kids, the last family I nannied for was very committed to one specific metal bottle (the mom is a civil engineer and knows very well what's in different materials and understandably wanted the best for her son). But the kid just couldn't drink through it - he hated it! They were getting so concerned about his weight because feeding him was so stressful for everyone and the more they pushed the more he refused. Finally they gave the Dr Brown's a try and it worked perfectly for him. Suddenly he was eating like a champ and gaining weight better.
Point being, sometimes the bottle that works for your kid isn't your ideal bottle, but your kid's gotta eat and that becomes the most important factor! And you really can't predict ahead of time what your kid is going to prefer. We actually got a bunch of glass Dr Brown's bottles because the person who gave them to us had gone all-in on them just to find out her kid didn't like them! (Luckily one of mine did)
And no soapy taste for the baby like silicone has!
We will be starting daycare in the next few weeks. We mostly use Dr Browns glass bottles at home but can’t send those to daycare. We’ve been trying out silicone bottles but my baby doesn’t like the shape of the nipples. Does anyone know of any silicone bottles that will fit a Dr Browns lid or nipple? We use the narrow bottles.
If you’re open to stainless steel instead of silicone, I think the Walmart Parent’s Choice bottles would fit the Dr. Brown lids.
You could also try the Chicco Duo Hybrid bottle. I’ve heard most daycares accept them. They’re glass inside and plastic outside so they’re shatterproof but the only thing touching the actual milk is glass.
I don’t, but keep trying silicone bottles there are lots of options now! My baby tolerates the Nanobebe and Boon Nursh. Many I hear like comotomo.
FYI though a lot of those are not recommended if you are also breastfeeding. not sure whether or not that is relevant to OP. but, a lot of people have the misconception that wide, soft bottle nipples are “breast like” and therefore good for breastfeeding babies. but according to lactation consultants, they can actually encourage a shallow latch, “straw sucking,” which will make breastfeeding harder. narrow bottles like the dr brown’s are actually more highly recommended for breastfeeding babies. of course, there are always exceptions!
My breastfed son hated every bottle but the Comotomo. We had help from a lactation consultant and she’s the one who pointed us to the comotomos.
He’s nine months and we’ve been both breastfeeding and bottle feeding successfully.
Just to say, it’s not automatically going to ruin everything. Every baby is unique.
My breastfeeding baby loved the comotomo more than my breast, so I had to switch off them because it was causing a nursing strike. So stressful.
Will daycare accept the glass bottles if you get silicon sleeves to put around them? That's what we do.
It depends on the situation. Where I work, I'm pretty sure they're still not allowed with the silicone sleeves, but we (teachers) won't force parents to switch bottles unless there's another issue with them (like they leak consistently).
Yes, that’s what we do too. Our daycare accepts them that way.
I believe the Evenflo bottles do!
New mama here! Im having a hard time picking which bottles is best for my first baby. Any recommendations?? Thanks in advance 🫶🏻
We have success with our Dr. Brown’s wide-mouth glass bottles (with preemie nipple for slow flow to help with breastfeeding relationship!) The only bummer about glass is then I can’t pump directly into the bottles we feed in. I still pump into the plastic bottles my Spectra pump came with and then transfer to my metal Ceres Chiller immediately at work, and then into glass bottles for feeding. So not in plastic for long term. Unless I have extra that I’m freezing then I do use plastic storage baggies for storage space efficiency!
Evenflo Balance+ in glass wide neck.
I’ve met with several IBCLCs and each has loved this bottle. It‘s great for breastfed babies because it promotes a good latch. I also like that it comes in a glass option. Evenflo’s customer service confirmed to me that their glass bottles and ink are lead free and are tested and verified by a 3rd party NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) to confirm safety.
I bought mine from Target but it’s not always in stock.
We're currently using the Momcozy bottles, and they come with a portable warmer, which makes things super convenient. i've alse used a Medela one before, which was great for younger babies.
Pigeon bottles and nipples were recommended by our lactation consultant and we love them so far. 4 weeks in and she gets only 1-2 bottles a day (when I’m asleep). They help maintain a good breastfeeding latch.
We used life factory bottles! I haven't seen those recommended on here yet. They have a silicone sleeve so they're less breakable. We're using them for baby 2 as well, though haven't tried them with her yet.
What are, from your experience, the best baby bottles to get and why?
We tried Tommee Tippee (Given to us as a gift) but he couldn't latch to them very well. Looking for new ones but there are just so many options!
The best bottles are the ones that your baby take a liking to.
We use Phillips Avent Natural. Dr. Brown’s gave my baby more gas, ironically. Comotomo nipples are too fast. Nano Bebe was not easy to read remaining volume.
Started with dr brown but honestly the amount of parts and washing … our baby was very colicky too so I felt like I had no choice. Until I found Avent. At first I tried the anti-colic which worked great until I found the Avent Natural bottles. The nipples have a built in air vent for colic and the shape resemble much like a real nipple so it’s very ergonomic. My baby loves it!!
Yes to Avent ! We have dr.browns and so many parts and crap and they are now leaking ! Avent natural are amazing and the glass ones even better !
Dr browns bottles SUCK
I concur on doc brown bottles. Over-designed, too many parts, assembly is a nightmare when your newborn is screeching in your ear at 5am.
We've been using Doctor Brown bottles with no issue!
My baby only takes Mam. We tried everything from tommee tippee to Nuk to nano bebe and she only takes Mam. No issues with colic and super easy to assemble. You can even sterilize them in the microwave if you’re in a hurry.
I had a Mam bottle leak on me twice- as an EPer, I couldn’t spare the milk I was wasting with them and switched to only Avent.
I’ve only had leaks before if I over fill the smaller bottles (we are in between the small and bigger). My baby only likes that nipple shape so we are big fans, will literally refuse to take anything else. She only like the medela silicon pacifiers too, similar nipple shape.
Comotomo are the only ones that worked for us, make sure you check which nipple you have if getting these they come in 3 flows. I didn’t realize I was using a medium flow when first using them so I thought the bottle was making her gag but it just was too fast of a flow. Dr brown kept making my baby gag and was too fast of a flow. We loved the playtex ones… bought so many just to realize they lost suction at the bottom very quick and we’re always dripping so that was a huge waste of money. Lastly we tried the avent one I can’t remember why but my baby didn’t like it.
Love comotomo. Easy to wash, lightweight. I like the big ones. The small ones tend to wobble off the table
Woah cool thank you!! Honestly I was pretty ok with assembling the parts but washing everything individually killed me lol! I did it for 5 months, only discovered the Avent bottles this month😂😂
So we’re about to start buying all the bits we need for our new bean! Just wondering what bottles people recommend the most!
Phillips Avent natural flow glass. Only wanted glass this time so options were limited. I’m also extremely lazy and refuse to buy a bottle with tons of parts that’s hard to clean.
Also big fans of the Philips Avent natural flow glass bottles here! 👋🏻 Although we also bought two of the plastic anti-colic ones as they work with the same nipples. The only thing we didn't like about Philips Avent was the nipple size 2 as our baby could hardly get anything out of it even at just 2 weeks. We switched to size 3 early and it's been working great.
This, but I use glass or plastic. These bottles are my favorite by far and on Amazon you can buy a nipple replacement that is a straw. Great for weaning baby off a bottle.
I’m a new mom, and I’m scheduled to be induced on Thursday (today is monday). I also only want to use glass, and I’m panicking because I bought the NUK simply natural glass bottles and I accidentally purchased the evenflow standard fit nipple to replace the ones it came with (because they do not pass the triangle test) and now I have a bunch of bottles that won’t create a deep latch and nipples that don’t fit the bottles. HELP! Which nipples will fit the NUK glass bottles 😭😭😭
I also use these! I also bought some plastic ones to use on the go, but I keep glass ones to use at home. They’re very simple to use and clean.
I wanted so badly for the Avent to work for us but the flow was too slow for our velociraptor and she was taking in too much air/getting fussy.. we switched to Herobility. Theyre also nice since we are combo feeding and have an insert to break up formula chunks. The flow is much faster, so LO just needs us to help pace her a bit. The nipple is similar to a breast nipple and flatter, too.
Phillips Avent glass bottles with natural flow nipples. Never had any issues! Only wanted glass so this was really the only option.
My big advice is to buy one of a couple of different brands to try out as my first baby would not take to the first brand I bought (Tommee Tippee) and I had gotten multiple sizes etc! My first baby loved Nuk but my second refused that and preferred Mam
Yea it’s not predictable. I bought several types of fancy ones before baby was born….glass….silicone….etc etc. Baby only wanted to drink out of plastic!
This is great advice! Our LO hated Mam and Avent flow was too slow, so we used herobility. All of the free bottle samples that came with the welcome boxes from baby registries at Target, Amazon, and Babylist were really helpful.
Highly recommend getting as many as the baby registry welcome kits as you can because they all come with a bottle or two. Babylist, Amazon, and target are the ones I got.
Evenflo wide nick bottles if you’re planning to breastfeed as well
Does anyone know if there is such thing as an 11 ounce silicone baby bottle? Metal could work too, but my baby’s daycare does not allow glass bottles and I’m trying to avoid plastic.
We currently use Comotomo bottles but he needs to drink more than what their biggest bottles (8oz) hold!
Thank you in advance for any leads!!
Tommee tippee makes some extra large ones I think - 11 or 12 ounces
Gah I just checked and it looks like their biggest right now is 9oz
I feed 2 bottles occasionally because I'm not going out of my way to buy new shit when the old works just fine. Can you just send 2 6oz bottles?
Yeah that’s not a bad idea!! Thank you
Do you need the nipple part, or can straws/ sippy tops work?
Need the nipple - baby is 5 months
Have you talked to your pediatrician? Just curious because 11 oz seems like a huge amount of formula for a 5 month old.
Pura stainless has variety of sizes and even if they don’t have a “baby bottle” that size the parts are all interchangeable
Have you used those with your baby/would you recommend? At $30 per bottle I want to be thoughtful on buying!
Yes, they are such good quality and you can use them forever by swapping them out for straw/waterbottle lids!
We bought on the recommendation of friends who swear by them! Any time I mention them in this sub people always echo that they are great

Hi all, FTM to an almost 4 month old. She is EBF, and used to take bottles occasionally early on with no issues. However for the last month we basically hadn’t given her them, and now she’s hardcore rejecting them. We were using Nuk bottles (we’re Canadian, not sure if it’s a U.S. brand).
Any suggestions for bottle resistant babies?
Honestly, every baby is different and you’re probably going to get all kinds of different suggestions, but for our EBF 4 month old, the only kind she would take-of all the different ones we got-was a Mam bottle we got as a free sample. All the nice glass bottles, Dr Brown, Avent etc. nothing worked except the Mam.
We use MAM as well! Mine takes the bottle perfectly! And I love that the design is self sterilizing.
lol I can’t say much about how well our daughter takes the bottle-she really isn’t a fan, but she downright refused any and all besides the Mam. She still 1000% prefers the boob.
Im thinking we’ll have to try quite a few :/ hoping I can get some second hand before dumping $$$ on this.
Thanks!
We tried the bottle box
We are also using kiinde
There were a couple we liked but we always went back to Kiinde. LO had the easiest time with it and they have three flow options.
I see this question posted a lot. I think it depends on baby’s natural latch and what mimics closet to that. For us Comotomo was the best. It’s shaped like a boob and it’s the only one bub can have when I’m at work.
You gotta go at it Cinderella style, sorry :/ We're huge fans of tommee tippee!
ETA- the pump bottles are also a huge hit lol, specifically Spectra and Baby Buddha. He hated Nuk and tolerated MAM.
We started bottles just one a day to get him use to it before I went back to work. After two weeks of success he started fighting the bottle hard. So I started the routine of boob then bottle as an immediate nipple swap. He got better about taking bottles the more I did this. Now I’ve been back to work for a week and he’s taking bottles for dad no issues.
We used Philips avent bottles.
I might try this.
I second the other comment in saying you’ll have to trial and error a bunch. My boy loved tommee tippee’s and now all of a sudden has a much better latch on to the dr.browns
My wife bought Rabitat bottles recently.
I’m currently searching for the best baby bottles that are easy to clean, safe, and help reduce gas, colic, or fussiness. I’d love something that makes feeding as smooth as possible, whether using formula, pumped milk, or combo feeding.
I’ve been researching a few different options, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone with personal experience or recommendations. Some of the baby bottles I’m considering include:
Best baby bottle options:
If you’ve used any of these—or have another favorite bottle you recommend—especially for reducing gas, mimicking breastfeeding, or being super easy to clean, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks so much in advance for sharing your experiences!
Philips Avent is the only one that works for us. I like that no milk comes out unless baby is actively sucking on the nipple. Makes paced feeding easier. Also, we're still on size 1 at nearly 6 months. We tried to size up but our baby didn't like it at all.
+1 on the Advent. We actually had to move up to size 2 after a week and then a week later we moved to size 3 because bottle feedings were taking an hour before each move up but breastfeeding was only taking 20 min.
whatever works for your baby. Problem is you just don’t know. We bought both Doctor Brown and Phillips Avent. We tried the Avent ones first she liked them and we stuck with them.
So true! Really is personal preference for each baby.
Ours has tried Dr Browns, Phillips avent and Evenflo wide + natural flow. He hates the Dr browns, is passive about the avent and does really well with the evenflo
I was speaking with my best friend yesterday though and her baby loves dr browns so really just speaks to how much it’s baby preference driven!
i like phillips avent!
We got a ton of Philips Avent ones but the nipples were impossible for our son to get any milk out of. Ended up using Nuk Perfect Match & we love them.
Same, got Philips Avent first and it was like he wasn’t anything out of it, now using Dr. Browns, it’s good but so many parts to wash and also feel at times it’s a bit fast, but I’d rather feel better knowing my baby is getting something out of it vs not getting any if that makes sense.
Exactly! I tried drinking from the Avent ones myself & couldn’t get anything out. It breaks my heart to think he was hungry for his first couple of days 😭
We tried several kinds but ended up sticking with Lansinoh. My lactation consultant suggested the pigeon nipples and they were awesome for my breastfed newborn. We sized up to 2 (slow) at 3 months, and that's probably where we'll stay. She HATES the medium flow nipples.
