What Redditors are Saying

Are Baggu Bags Worth the Price?

Durability and Functionality

Baggu bags are praised for their durability and functionality. Many users have reported using them for years without any rips or tears, even with frequent use [1:1]. The standard Baggu reusable bag is noted for its capacity, holding up to three grocery bags worth of products [1:1]. Users appreciate the lightweight nature of Baggu bags, making them ideal for daily use and easy to carry around [5:3].

Design and Versatility

The design and versatility of Baggu bags are significant selling points. They come in various fun designs and colors, which many users find appealing [1:1], [2:5]. The medium crescent bag is highlighted for fitting all essentials for a day out [1:1], while other models like the duck bag and cloud bag offer different styles and functionalities [4:4]. Users also appreciate the interior zip pockets that help keep items organized [5].

Price Considerations

While some users acknowledge that Baggu bags can be pricey, they often justify the cost due to the bags' quality and longevity [2]. One user mentioned considering making their own quilted bag as an alternative to purchasing a Baggu picnic blanket [2:1]. However, many users feel that the investment is worthwhile given the bags' durability and stylish appearance [5:1].

Trendy Yet Timeless

Baggu bags are currently trendy, but many users believe they have a timeless appeal. Despite being popular among younger demographics, older users have found them suitable for their needs due to their lightweight and practical nature [4]. The brand's focus on space efficiency and usefulness, combined with cute designs, contributes to their widespread appeal [4:9].

Comparison to Luxury Bags

Some users prefer Baggu bags over more expensive luxury bags for casual use. They find Baggu bags carefree and easy to use, often choosing them over higher-end options for everyday activities [5:2]. This shift towards Baggu bags reflects their practicality and comfort, making them a popular choice for those seeking a balance between style and function [5:6].

Hey! Do y’all use reusable bags or even use Baggu as tote bags?? Thanks!

I still grocery shop every time with a baggu six pack that I bought in 2007.

I had the duck bag/tote bag awhile ago and I liked it but I initially bought it for travel and found that I prefer a bookbag instead and it was too big for me to use on casual outing but otherwise it was a pretty sturdy bag. I have the reusable bags as well that I got as a gift but I never had the chance to use them bc I already have so many totes in general for shopping.

I basically only use the baggu reusable bags for shopping. The standard holds so much, I think 2-3 grocery bags worth of product. They last forever, I have one going on 10 years with no rips. I have one in every purse. I live in nyc so I have to carry groceries home and am always shocked at how much fits. And obviously they come in fun designs too!

I have the medium crescent bag - got it this summer and have been using it a ton. Fits all my essentials for a day out, including water bottle and small umbrella.

I also have some pouches that I used for organizing my diaper bag when my son was a baby. And a glasses case which does the trick but I find bulky tbh.

I’m a big fan, I think their nylon products are incredibly durable and is easily washed as well.

i never went into baggu with the expectation of starting a collection. they are quite pricey and i do believe a huge part of sustainability(i now know even that is questionable in this brand) is not to overbuy (something i definitely struggle with 😓). i do love my baggus though, and i dont plan on ever buying more purses (from there or otherwise) as i dont think i will ever need more lol

its the exact same quality nylon as the purses, except it does have slight quilting! kind of like the lunch bags if youve ever seen that in person. when i got mine it had a rip in it out of the package so im actually in the middle of the exchange process, which is pretty annoying. i have some sewing experience and i feel like i definitely couldve made my own with a cute quilt and cheap new shower liner instead, but primarily i bought it for miffy.

This is true with all fashion trends though. Same thing happened with the bow bags. That’s really where Baggu went down hill. It’s not unique anymore it just filters through trends like every other brand.

They kind of look like cosmetic bags. I want to order one to see how it looks on me, in person they're really cute. I think the shoulder bag is a better shape and super cute. I wish the strap on the mini shoulder bag was long though .

My mom calls these “soft addictions”. It could be worse. If I can afford it why not. I personally would rather have several bags than one super expensive bag. I do have a Goyard and love it- but it’s a one and done kind of situation. I’m a slut for bags.

Realistically if the strap is too long you can just cut off the excess and use a lighter to melt the top again.

I'm on the side of "use what you buy" but you know what...your mom is right. People are allowed to have soft addictions like you describe if it makes them happy. I personally wont get as much baggu as I used to before as im downsizing now, but I see ur point. Pop off 💅

Overconsumption and collecting are different and calling out women for collecting baggu and not men for buying golf clubs or baseball cards is misogynistic 🫶

Monochrome straps are nicer. Having two strap lengths is gratuitous and wasteful, I'm glad they are phasing out the 37 inch strap. Can't stand to see people complain about it. My opinion is if you're going to complain that much about it (so common in this sub), go buy another nylon bag.

I see what you mean but bowler bags have been a thing for many many years, i think they came back in style because coach started re-releasing some of their vintage styles again and one of those was their bowler bag from 1998! i noticed a rise in popularity of this design again every since coach brought it back

Too trendy?

Posted by mrsredfast · in r/BAGGU · 1 year ago

Just started reading this sub although have had basic baggu bags for years. I’m apparently a lot older than most who use baggu. I found the duck bag and standard bags a long time ago when looking for light weight basic bags. Added the med and large crescent and cloud bag later.

I’m in my fifties and have RA and these are great for me because they are so lightweight. The only other bag I use is the Uniqlo Round Mini. But now that I’ve found this sub it seems Baggu bags are super trendy right now. I had no idea.

Generally I’ve kind of moved past following trends at this point in my life. I guess my question is does using a bag like the baggu crescent make me look like I’m trying too hard to look young? I’m working on not caring what others think and don’t most days, but the new drop has me thinking about it more.

I know you’re right and I’m there most of the time. I also know someone who it’s hard not to side eye when she’s wearing the same clothes as her teens, but would look so much better in things that flattered her own body style. I do try not to judge people on things like that and do know some things transcend being appropriate for certain ages (looking down at my Birkenstock Arizonas I’ve been wearing since 1990), just wanted to see if Baggu fit that category for others.

Not at all! I think while baggu is tending, the bags themselves are timeless in a futuristic way. I am mid-20s and have raved about Baggu for a couple years now and my mom (late 40s) is now really interested because she has seen how versatile they are with my style and I am consuming less.

I’ve been looking for a luxury “daily driver” in a casual style, but with prices these days I ended up overthinking it and giving myself analysis paralysis. So I gave up (for now) and got a Baggu — and actually I love it. It suits my casual lifestyle, it’s lightweight, and it’s capacious. I was worried it would be a jumbled mess in there with all my stuff, but it’s quite easy to grab things, and there are two interior zip pockets. I still have my mental wishlist (Celine, Mulberry, Loewe) but I’m super happy with my medium crescent, and with the fact that I’m only $50 poorer.

Baggus are terrible, because you have all your “nice” purses but you tell yourself that you want something casual for those t-shirt and jeans days, and then suddenly all you use is your Baggu while your higher end bags just sit on the shelf lol 😂

Same, lately all I want to carry is my 15 dollar nylon crescent bag from Amazon. It's a fun color, rain resistant, machine washable and so lightweight and comfortable to wear as a crossbody. My leather bags only come out now for date nights/social occasions. I should probably consider paring down my collection at this point.

I LOVE my baggus, the other commenter here is so right that I always say "I need to use my luxury bags" and I grab my $30 swan baggu every time 🦢 they're just so cute and durable! I just picked up the navy bowler from the hello kitty collection because I had been eyeing a similar shaped one from alaia, but this was like 20% of the price, has an adorable hello kitty on it, and when I don't want to feel whimsy I just turn it around to face the inside and I have an adorable durable navy bowler bag!

Love yours, thanks for sharing with us!

Are the pouches worth the price? Flat or Go?

Posted by OhMeLads · in r/BAGGU · 4 months ago

Recently got my first baggu, obsessed. Love it. I've now fallen into the Baggu rabbit hole.

Since I normally use bags that have more pockets or such, I'm looking into getting some of the pouches to keep things a bit more compact and 'together'. But they're pricy in the UK! Do they hold a lot? Are they sturdy?

Honestly any pics help a lot.

i personally have a lot of pouches that i have accumulated through freebies/ipsy/life so i personally think that the baggu pouches aren't worth it since i have so many at home that aren't being used. if you are like me maybe see what you have before buying those. they are cute but ultimately live inside the bag.

29 upvotes on reddit
OhMeLads · OP · 3 months ago

That makes sense. I think the appeal to me is that they're also washable and sturdy. But you're right, for the price point, there are a lot of pouches out there.

Im just falling victim to how cute they are 😭

I love the go pouches since they sit up on their own but I haven’t had them long. I got a set during the last sale and then picked up a new set this sale. I currently have a small go pouch in my small sling with my tiny “essentials” like my chapstick, hand santizer, lipgloss, etc. I also used one to pack all my skincare for a trip.

I have been using the medium size for my technology in my work bag (chargers, extra mouse, extra batteries for said mouse, headphones) and packed additional toiletries in one for the same trip.

I hadn’t used the large pouch quite as much bc it is very large but have found some uses for it lately. I packed my iPad Air, multiple journals & smaller pen pouches, and kindle in one to keep together in my bag. I plan to use it for my upcoming plane travel to carry my iPad, kindle, and probably an extra set of clothes in my personal item lol.

When traveling by plane when space is more important I have a nice compact toiletry bag with several sections so I can fit everything together, but for road trips I have found I really like using several smaller pouches to separate out my toiletries. For example, my skin care in a small go pouch, shower supplies in another pouch, other hygiene items (deodorant, perfume, body lotion, toothpaste, floss, hair care, etc) in another. I did this recently while packing and put all of those pouches, along with my toothbrush (in a case) and hairbrush, into a large go pouch so it was kept together but easily separated for my needs. I am picky about my skin and hair care routines so this helps me keep it organized.

I also found that the large pouches can hold two standard iPads that often have to carry for work, so I was thinking of using one for that so it’s easier to keep my larger bag organized.

I have some of the flat pouches too and the small ones are my most used. I use them similarly to the small go pouch and put “essentials” in them to throw in various bags but they fit a bit less than the go pouch. My first small flat pouch I purchased a little over a year ago and it is by far my most used baggu item. It holds all the things I used to lose constantly 🤣

That being said, I love and use the flat pouches but have not purchased any full price and likely wouldn’t. I have have 4 full sets of pouches (2 flat, 2 go) and bought them all during sales.

1 upvotes on reddit
OhMeLads · OP · 3 months ago

Thank you for the in depth comparisons! I found size reference and I think the flat pouches will be more useful for me for my medium crescent. I do think I'll wait til there's a sale on any stockist websites though.

1 upvotes on reddit
Used-Lengthiness1573 · 4 months ago

I really love them! They're cute, durable, washable, bring joy, etc! I have both the flat and the go. I think one set of each is perfect for me as I have found a use for all of them, and switch bags/pouches regularly. I highly recommend the small go pouch, the medium in that set is also a good size, but the large is huge. I think most ppl reserve that one for travel. I like to use it inside of my large sling or my pannier when I'm biking. The flat pouch set is great too, but the small is really small. I still like it tho, it holds a small hand lotion, a couple average sized lip products, some mints, a hair tie, you know! The small stuff. The medium flat is great for pens/art supplies, and the large flat holds my journal perfectly. I've also used it for snacks when I don't want them flailing around my bag. I think they're worth it if you love bags/pouches/organizing, and if you truly love all the prints in the set you're considering. They will make you happy to look at in addition to their functionality, which is an underrated small pleasure imo!

10 upvotes on reddit
OhMeLads · OP · 3 months ago

Honestly that last point is a big thing for me as well! Like I know I can find many many uses, and there are so many other pouches I could use, but the washable nylon and it being like a 'theme' and nice to look at makes it feel like I'll go for it. 😂

Have you washed any pouches with patterns? I just got the get ready with me flat set and they feel super stiff compared to my other sets & I was worried washing would cause the design to peel.

1 upvotes on reddit
Used-Lengthiness1573 · 3 months ago

I've washed patterned ones, yes! I put them in a mesh laundry bag and am strict about cold water being the temp for the wash cycle, and always hang to dry. That stiffness will go away with time, but I've heard washing them might help soften them quicker. I've only ever washed mine when they're practically soft already, so idk what one wash cycle would do, but it might be just perfect to get that initial stiffness out! You shouldn't have to worry about the design peeling. Using mesh bags and cold water and hang to dry method, you probably have many many many wash cycles before that would happen :)

I follow a creator on LTK and she got me into the brand. I’ve only known of Baggu for about a year now. I fell in love with her Avocado shoulder bag and have been hooked on the brand ever since. My first baggu purchase was a reusable bag in the cherry tiles back in Feb. and since then I’ve purchased the lemongrass shoulder bag, cherub and bows reusable bag and fanny pack in cocoa. I’m currently considering purchasing the medium crescent in the stripes but I’m really trying not to lol I want to hold out and see what other prints they’ll come out with.

I discovered Baggu on my own back in 2012, so I’ve been around for a while now! I was in Santa Cruz, CA during my senior year of high school and I walked into a random sock shop somewhere downtown and they had a small Baggu display in the shop. I thought the totes were cute so I bought myself a blue elephant print standard size reusable, at the time I think it was $8 or $9. I still have that bag today! I lost the pouch that it came with but the bag still gets a lot of use. I’ve been causally following the brand since then, and I’ve been around for all of the major releases, like the leather items and plenty of collabs, but reusables have always been my favorite item made by them and what I have the most of. I keep meaning to post my collection, but I’ve been too lazy to get everything together in a nice picture. It’s so crazy to me to see this brand blow up like it has, and to see the prices of some older bags/prints. They are definitely a brand I think deserves the love they get though, and I can’t wait to see what they release in the future!

Oh wow! I was wondering how those of you that have been into Baggu for awhile must feel about all the attention it’s getting and the prices. Thank you for sharing, I hope you get around to posting your collection. I know we’d all love to see it! Looks like you have a good eye for quality pieces!

I love how much attention it’s gotten! Every once in a while I’ll get someone at the grocery store telling me they like my bags and I always tell them they’re Baggus in hopes of spreading the joy! I got a friend of mine into the brand too, and she has a few popular reusable prints like the pears, constellations, and moon phases. The prices for some older pieces though are insane. I get why there’s so much hype for older items but at the same time they’re just bags. I personally don’t see the need to pay so much money for some old nylon, or upwards of $500 for some Baggu leather. The trading aspect is fun, but at the same time it seems so stressful. With how big the brand has gotten recently, I’m sure they’ll keep releasing fun stuff.

I saw a what’s in my bag type post (maybe on BuzzFeed?) which showed a canvas backpack in about 2014 then followed the brand from there. I live in the UK so it hasn’t always been easy to get Baggu stuff here!

Ooh good ol’ Buzzfeed. I use to love taking their various random quizzes lol I didn’t know there was difficulty getting Baggu to the UK.

Shipping is very expensive, can take ages, and you have to pay import taxes if ordering directly from Baggu. Fortunately there are quite a few stockists in the UK now

In 2019 when I googled Fanny Pack (because I wanted to buy one) and read a blog that compared the Baggu Fanny pack with other fanny’s at the time. I’ve loved Baggu ever since.

I saw a regular TikTok girl with like no followers post about it four years ago and how amazing the bags are that fold up and I was hooked! My county doesn’t have any plastic or paper bags at stores so you have to bring your own or you carry your stuff out in your arms. So, it was the perfect solution. I’ve bought many baggu bags since and I love this brand and the sustainability 🫶🏼

I’m trying to use more reusable bags. I remember when my spouse and I moved to California from Florida back in 2017 and I was so shocked that we were being charged to use plastic bags! Baggu definitely would have come in handy back then haha.

Yes! The convenience of having them folded up in my bag at all times is just amazing. Carrying groceries out in my arms was not fun the few times it happened hahah

My older sister! As a younger sibling I always think whatever she does is cool so when she got a duck bag I looked into the brand and ended up getting a medium crescent that I love :) this was about a year ago

I love the first hello kitty collab but the resale prices are ridiculous. Also I kinda regret selling my regular chocolate plum bowler :(

Are baggu bags worth the price

Key Considerations for Baggu Bags:

  1. Durability: Baggu bags are made from high-quality materials that are designed to withstand regular use. They are often more durable than standard reusable bags, making them a worthwhile investment.

  2. Design and Functionality: Baggu bags come in various sizes and styles, including standard shopping bags, mini bags, and backpacks. Their thoughtful design allows for easy folding and storage, which adds to their convenience.

  3. Eco-Friendly: Using reusable bags like Baggu helps reduce plastic waste, making them a more sustainable choice for shopping and everyday use.

  4. Versatility: These bags can be used for a variety of purposes beyond grocery shopping, such as travel, gym, or as an everyday tote, enhancing their value.

  5. Price Point: While Baggu bags may be more expensive than typical disposable bags, their durability and versatility can justify the price over time, especially if you use them frequently.
