Bachelorette Party Destinations

TL;DR Popular bachelorette destinations include Charleston, Miami, Savannah, and Chicago. Consider factors like accessibility, activities, and personal interests when choosing a location.

Popular Destinations

Several cities are frequently recommended for bachelorette parties due to their vibrant atmospheres and variety of activities. Charleston is highlighted as a fun choice with great food and a lively vibe [1:2], [4:5]. Miami offers a dynamic party scene but can be expensive [1:2]. Savannah, GA, is noted for its charm and variety of activities beyond just bar hopping [4:1], [5:6].

Beach and Lake Options

For those looking for beach or lake destinations, Wilmington, NC, and Pensacola Beach, FL, are suggested for their coastal charm [5:3], [5:7]. Lake George in the Adirondacks and Lake Norman near Charlotte offer beautiful natural settings with opportunities for boating and relaxation [3:1], [2:1].

Underrated Destinations

Some less conventional options include Saratoga Springs, NY, known for its quaint downtown and nearby lake [3:1], and Asheville, NC, which provides outdoor activities and a relaxed mountain town vibe [4:4]. Portland, ME, is also mentioned for its scenic beauty and charming atmosphere [3:5], [4:7].

Accessibility and Budget

When planning a bachelorette party, consider accessibility and budget constraints. Cities like Chicago offer numerous flight options and a mix of city and beach experiences [5:1], [5:10]. Austin and Atlanta are also accessible from many locations and provide a range of activities [5:2].

Personal Interests and Activities

Ultimately, the destination should reflect the bride's interests and personality. Suggestions include spa getaways, wine tasting, yoga retreats, and outdoor adventures like hiking and kayaking [4:1]. It's important to balance relaxation with some nightlife or special events that everyone can enjoy.

Hi all -

Can anyone recommend a good bachelorette destination? Thinking drinks by a pool and fun restaurant scene. We are mostly in New York and Boston so want something that’s an easy flight. Let me know your thoughts!

brinkinz123 · 15 days ago

I think Charleston would be a fun choice! I went on a girls trip and loved the food and vibe. We went to Folly Beach and had a great time. Not sure about the pool scene though.

Miami is also great but expensive. A little further of a flight too

Austin is super fun, there are a few hotels that have great rooftop pools and the restaurant scene is great, fun bars and you can usually get cheap-ish flights from NYC

Across a variety of price points:

Bermuda may be a tad cold but worth a look. Super easy flight from nyc at least

Turks may also be a good option if you don’t want to do Miami. Shore club resort is cute.

Tulum is fun, for the right crowd.

Ft. Lauderdale or palm beach could also be an alternative to Miami

Also had friends do Nola and have a great time

U.S. Bachelorette Destinations

Where did you/ are you planning to have your bachelorette party? Feeling so lost!

My friends & I plan to go away for a weekend but I’m having a really hard time nailing down a location. I had this idea of doing a “camp bach” theme, but I can’t find any place that’s easily accessible from the east coast & not super expensive (like less than a $300 round trip flight per person). Lake Tahoe was my top choice, but it’s a long/ expensive flight and not worthwhile for just a couple of days.

Do you all have any recommendations for a location for a Friday-Sunday trip that’s a reasonably quick/ inexpensive flight from the east coast (DC and Miami)? Hoping for a destination that’s no more than 45 minutes from a major airport & definitely want to be on/ near the water! Lake or ocean is fine, but lake would really be my top choice. Bonus if it’s also in/near a city where we could go out for a night :)

Thank you!!

Underrated bachelorette destinations?

I have a lovely bridal party, but we are the most decentralized group ugh. I got girlies flying in from London, San Diego, Texas, and all over New England. Looking for a bachelorette location that is reasonably easy to fly to (big airport with direct flights), would allow us to do a big airbnb rental, a lake/boat day, one night of bar scene/night out. I don't want to make the whole trip drinking heavy since lots of my friends no longer drink. I want it to feel like a relaxing weekend hang, maybe some yoga, brunches, and a spa day. Would also love suggestions for non-bach hotspots (Charleston, Scottsdale, Miami etc). Thanks everyone!

My friends and I have pulled off similar itineraries in Destin, FL and Savannah, GA and had a ton of fun. We rented a nice house, had one day on a boat, 1-2 nights out, and found both places had plenty to offer other than just hitting up bars. I think we did May for Destin and April for Savannah and lucked out with great weather. Renting a house in New England in the summer could be fun too (Newport, The Cape, Portland, NH lakes region, coastal Maine, Block Island, etc)

Saratoga Springs, NY. Has a lake nearby, cute downtown with boutiques and restaurants. The race track is there if you’re into it and it’s track season, you can wear the hats and get dressed up.

Lake George, NY in the Adirondacks is beautiful.

Charleston is for sure a bachelorette hot spot. I’ve been there twice for bachelorette parties.

Annapolis, MD. Not a lake but still water access for boating and it’s historic and beautiful.

Bachelorette Destinations?

Posted by BoogerFarb · in r/weddingplanning · 3 years ago

I am currently struggling with picking a destination for my bachelorette party. I would love to vibe to be on the more casual side, with maybe one day/night out but with fun dinners in and outdoor activities. I struggle seeing these parties in Vegas and Nashville because they just don't feel like me. I am open to flying (currently in NC) anywhere really as our the girls who would be coming with me. Looking to go during July- Sept so depending on location would love to find a place with a pool.

Any locations that you've been to and loved?

Since you’re in NC Asheville seems perfect! Lots of outdoor activities, great restaurants, and nightlife if you want to do a little partying.

If Asheville is been there done that, Greenville, SC has similar vibes but slightly preppier and a different city.

16 upvotes on reddit
Regular-Restaurant31 · 3 years ago

Just a word of warning from an Asheville native, Asheville is not like Nashville, Vegas, NYC, or even Charlotte or Charleston honestly. OP obviously doesn’t want Vegas or Nashville so it might be perfect for them, but in general I see a lot of disappointed bachelorettes (I live next to an Airbnb and yes it is hell thanks for asking lol) who don’t understand why every restaurant in town closes at ten. At its heart Asheville is still a sleepy mountain town that blew up in the last two decades and still can’t quite handle its popularity.

So if you want to hike, brewery hop, have a nice dinner, and then relax at the vacation house it’s the perfect destination. If you’re looking for all night clubbing it’s probably not the best place to be. Also make sure to have your vax card on you. And tip your bartenders well :)

Edit to add: if you want to come to Asheville I also recommend September because the weather is still gorgeous and it’s the sweet spot between summer and leaf season so it’s less crowded and less expensive.

Savannah and New Orleans are both popular and fun - both have an abundance of “ghost tours” that I always see bachelorette groups on. I think both have an abundance of things to do besides just bar hopping, personally.

Scottsdale is also popular.

Some more ideas - afternoon tea, weekend getaways to national/state parks (hiking/camping/kayaking etc), weekend spa getaways, wine tasting, theme parks, scavenger hunts - I think whatever you do should reflect your interests and personality :)

Bachelorette Party Destination Help

Posted by catspach · in r/weddingplanning · 5 years ago

Wedding planners of Reddit—I would love some suggestions and help! I have 8 bridesmaids and all of them live in different cities and states (one even lives out of the country). I know not all ladies will be able to make it but I still want to have a party and one last hurrah for us. Could you help me think of some cities or locations that might be accessible/easy for most ladies?

Here are some considerations— we would love somewhere near a beach since it’ll be in the summer but not so remote that we can’t go out to some bars at night. There are two girls out on the West Coast but most of us are along the east Coast with a few girls in New England and me in Virginia. A few ideas we’ve come up with are Portland, ME; Virginia Beach; Key West, and Wilmington, NC. Thoughts? Other ideas?

Vegas tends to have cheap flights! Key west is a bit of a hassle to get to after you get off the airplane.

Chicago also has a lot of flights. Austin and Atlanta could also work. Maybe New Orleans.

Destination bachelorette party

Posted by Factor_Global · in r/weddingplanning · 1 year ago

I'm looking for ideas for a bachelorette party destination that is outside of the USA, has fun outdoor activities, good food and is affordable. I also don't want drinking to be the main activity.

My girls are spread across the USA, so we will all be flying no matter what. I don't want to ask people to spend a ton of money on a bachelorette trip, and then on a trip to the wedding itself.

I don't want to ask people to spend a ton of money on a bachelorette trip, and then on a trip to the wedding itself.

That's considerate of you. But then wouldn't it make sense to have the bachelorette locally, in the days preceding the wedding, so that your friends only have to travel once?

In any case, how much money and days off have your bridesmaids say they wanted to spend on the bachelorette trip? That's an important info we need to recommend locations.

3 upvotes on reddit
Factor_Global · OP · 1 year ago

It is going to be a long engagement as my finace is in residency and we don't plan on having the wedding until that is finished ~2 years from now.

All of the bridesmaids just made a trip to Chicago (and probably spent about $1k each. Our friend group likes to travel internationally, so that is why I am looking to plan the bachelorette as an international trip.

I was looking at Curacao and Bonaire as options as the flights are generally relatively cheap

1 upvotes on reddit
[deleted] · 1 year ago

What is your definition of “a ton of money” ? If youre having a trip where people both fly and pay for a hotel its going to be about the same price as your wedding. An international trip will potentially be even more. Maybe considering polling people to figure out what a good travel budget would be and then go from there.

I hear great things about croatia as a budget vacay destination.

A destination Bach is probably going to be pricey no matter how to slice it since it'll probably need to be a multi-day affair to make the trip worth it. You also should consider the non-cost logistics, like how much PTO or arranging childcare that your girls will need for this and the wedding since that sounds like a destination (or at least a bit travel-y).

What comes to mind is someplace like Mexico  or somewhere in Caribbean, but even then, a lot of typical locations there are inclusive resorts that might be pricier than going to a mainland city and getting a hotel.

Bachelorette Trip

Posted by sunflower-m · in r/weddingplanning · 6 months ago

Hi everyone. I know this has been asked before. What are some budget friendly weekend trip ideas? All girls are from all over the map (mostly southern United States) so a small trip is the easiest option if we want to have a bachelorette. We are thinking August and leaning towards a beach, but I really need help with ideas and where you've gone personally that you didn't need to spend an arm and a leg just for two nights. Other than a beach, where did you go with a similar chill vibe? Not wanting to go out to bars and party too much, but wouldn't be opposed to a decent night life for at least one evening either. Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!!

I'm going to my hometown (Austin, TX) for my bach! It's more based around outdoorsy stuff than bars/partying. We're going to a water park, floating the river, hikes, good food, etc. We're doing one night out downtown and I'm so excited! The last thing I wanted was to be hung over and I love the idea of taking my friends to all the things I did growing up.

Budget wise - most of those things are less than $50/pp or free, we're saving money by staying at my parent's house

Not sure if it’s helpful, but I’ll be doing Temecula for my bachelorette. I figure we would do wine tasting, hot air balloon, and maybe ride horses. We’ll also probably spend time just relaxing by the pool.

Genuine question re: bachelorette parties

Posted by Guilty-Object-9079 · in r/BigBudgetBrides · 5 months ago

There is so much anti-bachelorette party discourse out there and I get it, I really do. Some people go way over the top and expect their friends to shell out money they might not have and use up PTO.

The general consensus of the internet seems to be, "it should just be a local night out where everyone goes home afterwards." But, for those of us who have friends that don't all live in the same place, then what? local for who? someone would have to fly no matter where my bachelorette party is.

I guess my question is how can I have a fun, weekend-long bachelorette party trip that feels worth the time and money for my friends? I'd cover as much of it for them as I can. I'm in a better financial position than most of them, so I don't want to make any of them uncomfortable with costs, etc.

I'd love location suggestions as well, don’t want to do the charleston/nashville vibe, and we're all east coast. It would probably be March or April, so something warm is ideal.

You could choose a city that is equal distance for everyone in your bachelorette party and assist with flights or accommodations so it’s not a large financial burden for any of your bridesmaids.

23 upvotes on reddit
Longjumping-Wing-549 · 5 months ago

For many that’d literally be center of the US somewhere like Kansas or Oklahoma - not exactly desirable bach destinations for most! I’ve found that picking a place everyone is excited about but also being upfront about total cost and trying to keep costs as low as possible has been the best.

I did this / tried to find a place that would be easy to get to for everyone and we ended up picking the west side of Michigan (flying into Chicago O’Hare). It was incredible. Lake Michigan was gorgeous and the lake house complex with two houses, heated pool, and hot tub was HUGE. Would highly recommend and everyone was able to find reasonable flights because O’Hare is so big.

Our guest count for our combined bachelor/ette was 17 so it was important to us to make it reasonable. Also we subsidized the vacation home rental for everyone.

Another couple I’ve heard for “semi equidistant” are Denver and Austin.

I wouldn’t immediately write off somewhere in the middle as for someone like myself that would actually be a large metropolitan city that would make a fun destination for a bachelorette trip. If that’s not the case I think your suggestion is fine if it’s not putting a financial strain on anyone in the bridal party.

5 upvotes on reddit
secretlifeofbb · 5 months ago

I second the responses here that say a trip is fine but consider somewhere with equal flight time for everyone so some people aren’t schlepping or spending extra while others have a quick 2 hour flight or something!

Unrelated to your actual question, I think the anti bachelorette discourse is bullshit. I’ve been on FOUR Bach trips in the last two years. Happily spent the money for my friends and showed up with great energy. So yeah, now it’s my turn and I feel zeroooo guilt about asking. Am I supposed to have a local one night Bach (which would feel like most nights anyways because my friends and I go out a lot) when everyone else got to go to Tulum or Turks & Caicos or Miami or St Barths??? Hell no lol

This sub is so weird when it comes to bachelorettes. I did one abroad but had all the girls very much involved in picking if they wanted to go away, when, and where. Everyone absolutely loved the trip. We’re all from different financial backgrounds and it was very much a diplomatic approach and it worked.

For the wedding, all they had to do was show up so I am not sure if that elevated a lot of pressure for them so it was easy to do the Bach? Not sure. If they’re your friends they’ll be honest with you and want to talk through the best solutions.

To avoid some of the main things people complain about, I’d recommend doing some of the following if you’re in the position to do so:

  1. Pay for the accommodation, large ticket events (for example, I paid for the spa day, bottle service, etc.), and some meals (especially if catered).

  2. Do not penalize those unable to attend (I’ve seen brides remove them from the bridal party or even uninvite them to the actual wedding). There should be no hostility of someone can’t get the time off, has another obligation, or simply can’t afford it.

  3. Make it fun for everyone, but not at the expense of your special weekend.

  4. Allow feedback on the itinerary or even allow others to suggest ideas.

  5. Show gratitude throughout the weekend. This can be with words or even a small gift bag.

  6. Plan in advance. Make it clear what they’re paying for and what you’re covering. This will give them enough time to save if needed, take time off of work, or arrange personal affairs.

This really all depends on who you’ll have attending and their financial situation and personal obligations, so the main thing is to communicate openly and not get defensive.

For locations, I’ve enjoyed Asheville, Savannah, or even somewhere nice in Florida like St. Augustine.

114 upvotes on reddit
CorporateBarbie3000 · 5 months ago

If you have one friend that you most want to join that can’t travel and they’re near a fun city you could let that be a factor!

I’m paying for a nice dinner out and subsidizing some other things and giving gift bags. Paying for accommodation for everyone could get out of hand quickly so don’t feel bad if you can’t cover that.

23 upvotes on reddit
vs7509 · 5 months ago

From personal experience, I think you’re already part of the way there by making it a weekend trip. Ideally, if it’s one where people can arrive after work on Friday and still have time to participate in the main parts of the weekend, that will make things much easier on people.

Second, try to choose somewhere with a major airport that has direct flights to most of the places your friends live / is considered easy to get to. Try to focus on the fact that you’ll have fun with your friends no matter where you are rather than making it a place on your own travel bucket list. You can do that later, because the direct trade off is people you care about being able to make it.

Finally, be prepared for not everyone to come, and know it’s not because of you. A few of my very closest friends couldn’t come to mine for various reasons, and I wish I wasn’t so hurt by this at the time. This is especially true if they already have to travel for your wedding, which if they all live in different places, they probably do. Weddings get EXPENSIVE especially if you’re at an age where there are multiple per season. I had a summer with 11 weddings and was literally crying weekly about how to make it all work financially and not let anyone down. It’s hard because with a bachelorette you’ve probably pictured one with all your friends there and there’s an element of “why can’t I have this like everyone else” but reality gets in the way - and that’s okay!

Bachelorette party destination??

Posted by nataliebootlah · in r/weddingplanning · 6 years ago

Currently in Dallas. Bridesmaids are mostly in the Dallas area but have one in Austin, one in New Hampshire, and a few cousins from Chicago I’d extend the invite to.

I’m throwing the idea around of a bachelorette in Seattle or Portland, though I’ve never been to either city. Has anyone done theirs there or been to one that was fun? The other place that comes to mind is Miami, but that can get pretty pricey.

I’ve done some research on all three places and looked at some itineraries, but would love thoughts/recommendations! It would be in late March or early April. Thanks!

Another Seattle-ite here. Hiking in March/April can be tricky since most of the good stuff is still under snow, though weather in April can be lovely (or not...). Honestly in April, if hiking is important to you, I’d recommend Portland. The Columbia river gorge is gorgeous and low altitude so it doesn’t get snow, at least not that late in the season (except if it’s a really weird year).

I wouldn’t recommend planning it for March. The chance that it’ll just be cold and rainy is really high, and while us PNW-ers often come to love the rainy/dark/cold (I swear it’s some kind of Stockholm syndrome), but others don’t feel that way.

Seattle or Portland definitely sounds right up your alley!

The biggest difference I can think of is that Portland is a lot easier to get around if you are planning to walk/use public transit.

Seattle is a lot more spread out (esp breweries/wineries, two of the best ones IMO are in Woodinville 20-30 minutes outside Seattle) so driving or Lyft/Ubering would be a lot faster.

I wish you happy planning!

Bachelorette Party Destinations?!?!

Posted by anonymous_koala23 · in r/weddingplanning · 3 years ago

My 2 friends are planning me a bachelorette party in June and I need some recommendations. They said to come up with 3 destinations I'd like to go to and they'd take it from there (making the decisions)!

In a non-Covid world, I would be down for the bar-hopping but since we are living in a pandemic, I'm looking for something a little more centralized. Maybe a cabin with a hot tub, or a house with a pool –where we can party just all together for the weekend. I'm also open to outdoor activities like going to a vineyard, hiking, tubing on the water. A nice restaurant would be fine enough for me for dinner!

I was looking into Martha's Vineyard, Newport RI, Lake George, etc. East coast is preferable but open to anywhere in the U.S.! Please help!

...is ... is this me? Are you my doppelganger? because, SAME. I'm a little COVID-anxious about much travel for bachelorette unless it were a road trip, and also on the East coast. MOH is asking me currently where I'd want to go and I'm struggling.

Was starting to think about choosing somewhere in the Finger Lakes for the variety of (especially outdoor) activity available but I see you have this option on your list with Lake George

After some searching last night, I found that there are some 'destination' spas and luxury resorts that we could consider. I'm not a big partier and would love to have a relaxing bachelorette, maybe if that's your vibe a spa destination would be another decent option!

Lake George is in the Adirondacks while the Finger Lakes are a separate region much further southwest in NY, but either would be fun for a bachelorette party. Finger Lakes have a ton of options for wine tasting at vineyards mostly outdoors where you could keep distance from others. Adirondacks have far better hiking though. Finger lakes would be more of a -house with a pool- vibe while the Adirondacks would be more -cabin with a hot tub- vibe. You could even rent a cabin on a lake in either destination, but I much prefer Adirondack lakes to the finger lakes (most finger lakes have an invasive mussel problem). Either option would be so fun!

I definitely had 0 concept of the distinction! Thank you for the explanation! Hiking is a bit more my speed so this might inform my searching a bit more. Apologies to OP for hijacking the post :P

Your friends need to survey those invited to see what the budget for the trip is before you decide on a destination. The budgets may allow for only a short drive and an overnight stay at an AirBnb.

I agree with this - don't pick a destination until you've assessed (a) the budget that works for the group and (b) how much time everyone can take off / is willing to travel.

I've heard good things about Portland, Maine. I think the Catskills could be really fun too. You could stay at a cabin and explore the little towns and do some hiking or visit a lake for the day!

Charlottesville! Tons of great vineyards, super chill. Definite outdoor hiking or activity options if you’re into that: Trickier to get there but wayyy less expensive than Martha’s Vineyard or Newport.

bachelorette party destinations

Key Considerations for Bachelorette Party Destinations

  1. Group Preferences: Consider the interests of the bride and the group. Do they prefer a beach getaway, a city adventure, or a relaxing spa retreat?

  2. Budget: Set a budget for the trip. Some destinations can be more affordable than others, so factor in travel, accommodation, and activity costs.

  3. Activities Available: Look for destinations that offer a variety of activities, such as nightlife, outdoor adventures, shopping, or cultural experiences.

  4. Accessibility: Choose a location that is easily accessible for all guests, considering travel time and transportation options.

  5. Season and Weather: Check the best time to visit your chosen destination to ensure pleasant weather and avoid peak tourist seasons if you prefer a quieter experience.

Popular Bachelorette Party Destinations:

  • Las Vegas, Nevada: Known for its vibrant nightlife, casinos, and entertainment options. Great for a fun and lively atmosphere.

  • Nashville, Tennessee: Offers a mix of live music, great food, and unique bars. Perfect for country music fans and those looking for a fun city vibe.

  • Miami, Florida: Ideal for beach lovers, with beautiful beaches, nightlife, and warm weather year-round.

  • New Orleans, Louisiana: Rich in culture, food, and nightlife. Great for a unique experience with plenty of activities.

  • Austin, Texas: Known for its live music scene, food trucks, and outdoor activities. A laid-back yet fun atmosphere.

Recommendation: If the bride enjoys nightlife and entertainment, Las Vegas is a classic choice. For a more relaxed vibe with cultural experiences, consider New Orleans. Always check for group deals on accommodations and activities to maximize your budget!
