LG OLED TVs
The LG C series, particularly the LG C3 and LG CX models, are highly recommended for their outstanding picture quality and performance. They are praised for their deep blacks, excellent color accuracy, and overall viewing experience [1:2]
[1:3]
[1:9]. The LG C series is considered a top choice for both streaming and gaming due to its low input lag and high refresh rates
[1:7].
Sony TVs
Sony TVs are noted for their superior picture processing capabilities. The Sony A95L, with its Q-OLED panel, is mentioned as one of the best options available, offering excellent color reproduction and motion handling [1:10]. For those on a budget, the Sony X90/X94 series is recommended for its strong performance at a more affordable price point
[5:2].
Samsung and Other Brands
While LG and Sony dominate the recommendations, Samsung is also mentioned as a good option, especially if Dolby Vision is not a priority [1:4]. Panasonic's Z95A is another alternative, particularly if you do not plan on using external speakers
[1:8].
Budget Considerations
For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, it's suggested to focus on getting the largest screen size within your budget while ensuring a long warranty [2:1]. Hisense TVs are mentioned as a cost-effective choice, providing decent quality without breaking the bank
[2:3]
[2:4].

Overall, the consensus leans towards LG OLEDs for premium quality, Sony for excellent processing, and brands like Hisense for budget-friendly options.
I’m in the market for a new 4K TV and feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there. There are so many brands, sizes, and features like HDR, refresh rates, smart TV platforms, and gaming modes to consider.
I mostly use it for streaming movies and TV shows, but I also play games sometimes, so good picture quality and low input lag would be great. Budget-wise, I’m willing to spend a bit more for something that’s really worth it and lasts a while. Thanks in advance for your help!
The LG C series are universally acclaimed
I have a 65” C3 and I love it.
Yep, I have a 55” LG C3 and it’s amazing
Got a 65 inch C4 from BB for 1200 and it feels like a steal
I still love my LG CX from 2020.
Go definitely for an OLED TV. If you don't care about Dolby Vision, Samsung is great and it costs little less than others at least here in Germany.
I use LG and it supports Vision as well. Almost all of the other OLED TV producers get their panels from LG so in this regard there is not much difference. I use it since 2018 and more than satisfied with it.
The picture processing could make a little difference though and I think Sony makes the best TVs right now. The difference is barely noticeable but it's there nonetheless. Also Sony comes with built in Android TV which offers more flexibility than the LG or Samsung though you can always add it with a Dongle.
Overall, if I have to get a TV today, I'd definitely go for Sony.
I have a Sony: Pros: Sony's Tech Support - Cons: the TV's software is dire. I recommend the LG C TV sets
Sony a95L is still best. Q-OLED panel with Sony's processing power.
This. I also have a soft spot for the Panasonic Z95A, especially if you're not planning on getting extra speakers
yeah ignore everything else, this is the answer. just made expensive

I’m firmly in Camp LG. By the best and biggest OLED from them that you can manage.
Vazi, hvala.

Iptv the great website seems to be offline from time to time?
I've almost exclusively used my TVs built-in apps. Recently I read that an external streamer would give better picture and sound quality. Tried with a Chromecast with GTV, but was disappointed by the result - no change in picture quality and no auto switching between DV and HDR, Bought an Apple TV 4K on sale today and was excited to see if there was any difference, Very pleased with the result. The picture seems better, not a huge difference, but I feel it's there. No problem switching between DV and HDR (plus there's HDR10). The whole thing feels much more premium (not strange considering the price) and overall a much better experience. I will definitely not be returning this one.
I love my AppleTV’s I have never owned a smart TV. Never needed one as the AppleTV is by far better than any built-in bloatware laden smart tv. You can also calibrate the color balance using your iPhone it’s pretty awesome!
By using the iPhone? That’s very interesting. How do you go about that. I did notice that when I switched to the Apple TV all my problems with the color on the so-called smart TV went away.
Go to settings on AppleTV then scroll down to Video and Audio then scroll down to calibration then follow on-screen prompts with your iPhone and Voilà!
How then do you get a TV with outstanding picture quality (OLED, QLED) without it coming with some sort of TV os (Tizen, Google, WebOS). Are there any these days?
Same, did Roku and FireTv. Got tired of all the adds and constant reboots. AppleTv is the Cadillac.
The price is only “premium” because the other streamer manufacturers subsidize their prices by selling your data and running ads. Apple does neither and so the user pays a more representative price for the box. Of course, being Apple there’s a healthy margin in that price, but I believe it’s more than fair, given that it’s not a spy box and isn’t treating me as a constant stream of revenue.
The Apple TV is not in any way expensive. It’s roughly the same as 3 to 4 months of a single streaming service. I know people who pay more than twice the cost of the Apple TV every month for cable. The other streamers are cheap pieces of junk. They are built to meet a price point.
$258 a month just for cable TV? Wtf?
Just wait until you calibrate your TV using your phone!! I’m quite pleased with the results!
That calibration option never worked for me and my LG TV and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Tried dozens of times and nothing happens.
Oh! The whole ecosystem of Apple is pretty great overall. Even the little things you don’t think about like just wearing my watch will unlock my Mac. Or how I can copy text on my phone and paste it into a document on my Mac! I also just learned that the Apple TV is also my home hub for home kit. It can even stream my Steam Games from my computer to use with a game controller. Pretty impressive for me at least!
Just wait until the first time you travel with it. You're really going to love not having to deal with the hotel TV's remote control and gruesome captive menu.
Im thinking of upgrading my tv I’ve had for about 3-4 years now, it feels a bit dated. I would prefer 4k, I can’t afford a really high end one but if someone could help me find one in a low to mid range one that would be amazing.
I’d go with a Sony. I worked for a retail company for 2 years, then Sony for an additional 2. I’ve sold all brands, and honestly Sony is tough to beat. Depending on budget, I’d look at an X90/X94 and if you can afford OLED I’d go to the OLED range.
Depending on what you use your tv for (gaming etc) you’ll need a powerful processor. Sony has some of the best processors on the market.
Thanks , I looked at the X90 and that is my current top.

Need to know your actual budget.
I’ve searched around Best Buy/Amazon and I don’t really know what I’m looking at, I don’t know what’s good or what’s bad, I see a couple I’m interested in but I ultimately have 0 clue what I’m looking for in a good 4k tv.

Pretty much what the title says. I’m looking to update from my (pretty inexpensive) Hisense TV to a legitimate 4K display.
I have a 4K player and Surround sound, but my display has much room to improve. What would you say is the best “bang for your buck” option on the market?
I can’t afford the top of the line options at the moment, but would still like to upgrade my quality as much as possible. Any advice or info is appreciated!
Sony’s X90 series is often mentioned as the best bang for your buck 4k TV
Only real answer. Cheaper would be TCL/hisense 8 series
I just got an 85” X90CL. It is quite impressive. I was also coming from a 65” entry level TCL.
Upgraded from an X85J to a 65 inch X90L about a month ago and I'm still in awe.
its a bit on the higher end of pricing.
I now have my 4th Roku tv that I bought in less than 4 months. The price is amazing and you’d think it would be expensive because this tv is Definitely a value. I use one for my 2nd computer screen/ tv . That was the 1st one. I was staying with my son & I had to work remote.
https://www.amazon.com/Roku-Brilliant-Automatic-Brightness-Streaming/dp/B0CLFSWK9V/
I saw this on tv on sale (smaller screen) & got it. Loved it as pc screens. It’s so light I could carry it to playroom to watch Disney plus or Amazon videos with grandkids. Then, Son got a big one for living room, because the menu & streaming apps were so easy to use. I went home and missed watching tv, so I bought 2 more. One for 2nd work pc monitor and one for bedroom tv. Look for these on sale at Walmart too. Worth every penny. Will not be disappointed.
This is the answer to almost any "which TV should I get" post.
I listen to a number of classical music videos on You Tube and have been quite satisfied so far--which means that I will probably not purchase a sound bar for the t.v. Is it perfect, no but seems to be a great value for now. Will I ever go to a better t.v.--perhaps in the future but for now I am quite satisfied with this Roku version.
I have had many of the most of the common brands over the years Samsungs, LG, Vizio etc. but side by side there's no comparison just get a Sony
I saw the 75" R655 on sale for $698 a couple weeks ago, and I hate myself for not biting.
The blacks are nearly as good as oled with really good FALD and much better brightness for proper HDR. Sure, it has some blooming, but damn that was a steal.
What’s the difference between that model and this one?
It’s so hard to find them for a good price at the 65 inch size, I ended up going with a 2020 era 5 series on slick deals because it was so damn cheap.
I’m happy with my tv considering what I paid but yeah I spent weeks trying to find a 6 series. Maybe they’re more available now?
I'm late to the party here, but I feel a responsibility to inform people of my experience with TCL. I have owned 3 TCL televisions. Each one of them lasted almost exactly one year to the day, and then a vital part broke from regular use. Yes, they are cheap, have good picture quality, and have a 1-year warranty. However, don't be surprised if they break quicker than expected. Granted, I realize that it might have just been a poor-quality item that I received, but after three of them, I wish I would have just gotten a longer-lasting tv instead of trying to be frugal.
I'm looking to buy one of the 2023 4k Oled TV's for $1000 - $1500, I am also willing to go over $1500 if necessary. I'm only look for around a 48-55 inch tv. I mainly watch sci-fi and fantasy TV show's and movies and don't really care about gaming.
I know very little about TV's and could use some help, please and thank you.
If you plan on gaming use the C3. I just got one and almost went with the Sony. This thing is insane.
Why the c3 for gaming?
Add a90K in for 48 oleds
Gotcha I did a little research and seen the 83" S90C comes with the W-Oled instead of the QD Oled.
A95L > G3 > A80L > C3 > S90C
Why so low on the s90c? I think the perks of Dolby vision are overblown seeing a lot of side by side comparisons, and it's a brighter and wider range color gamut screen... I found a great deal on an open box 77 I'm about to bite the bullet on.
It's low but it's still a great tv. It's just that the others have better processing and are often more accurate. S90C is the cheapest way to get QD-OLED, which is a fantastic panel. Depends on what you value as a customer
A75L should be there
same as the A80L just cheaper
My take with Samsung, great tech, horrible executions. Every BestBuy and other A/V store their OLEDs burned in. They can either have fantastic build quality or horrible build quality. I’ve seen the panels on some displays bow and this one is a personal take, but I don’t like being able to basically bend my television with my hands. Also, the LG and Sony do better at cooling. Besides that OLED is awesome no matter what brand but I’m going to put my trust in the 2 companies that’ve been doing this for over a decade rather than one on this second now going onto their third year at least on a mass consumer level.
Edit: This is for their OLEDs btw. I think Samsung has some very solid TVs especially with 2022 Q90B!
So what did you end up buying?
LG C4 or S90C 83" Which is the better overall tv.
Title. Looking to buy a new 4K TV to hang above my fireplace. The fireplace dimensions is 5'7.5" (length) x 4'5.5" (width). The price range I'm working with is $500-$700. With the dimensions and the price I'm working with, what are the best options out there right now? I want to go with something that has really good resolution (preferably OLED), large enough screen size that can hang above the fire place, leading name brand, and a TV that will last a long time (reliable and won't be obsolete in 5 years). Thanks in advance for recommendations!
A high tech device like that just cannot be BIFL. Look for a sub that recommends good TV’s or check rtings.com
Sony Bravia is about as close as you can get for BIFL tvs, I have one thats been going strong for at least 10 years. OP definitely isnt being realistic with his price range though
hit or miss i guess. my sony bravia is a lot of frustration
Don’t go to r/4Ktv that place is a toxic hellhole and the mods are a-holes.
posted there and no one has helped yet lol. this sub has been more helpful lol
I’ve never had a TV die… yet. And I always leave them on.
500-700 won’t get a BIFL TV. 5-7 is midrange (bordering on low range)
I can giv a recommendation for the TCL Q7. Mine was around 600 at 55in. 4k with 120hz capability.
I’ll take a picture of my fireplace space and make a post with my measurements on r/TVTooHigh for screen size recommendations
Also, get a mantle mount. Tv won’t be too high when you watch it then.
Also, the 2022, 2023 Samsung frame has a matte surface.
I have the mantle mount, but a 2021 frame
I bought an LG C2 for editing last year.
I'm involved in film/video and was at a post-production place where they do the colour grading for features and Netflix. They reckoned the C2 could be made 98% as accurate as their £30k monitors, and it's the screen they used as a 'client monitor' that directors watched to assess their colour choices.
It's probably true of lots of other screens too, but it seems to be the one that post people have often gone for.
WHATEVER YOU GET, get one with multiple HDMI ports as that can be used in your favor to check the other ports to know if your TV is going to TV purgatory.
My dad and I were watching tv, and the sound cut out and it appeared to be dead, then I checked out the other ports it worked.
