TL;DR
Brick-and-Mortar Stores
Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods are frequently recommended for finding affordable and unique home decor pieces. These stores often offer a variety of items that can suit different tastes and styles [1:1]. Thrift stores, such as Savers, are also popular choices for budget-friendly decor, allowing you to see items in person before purchasing
[4:4].
Online Platforms
For those looking to shop online, Etsy is a great platform to explore, offering handcrafted and unique items from small business owners [1:4]. Facebook Marketplace is another option where you can find secondhand decor at lower prices
[2:1],
[3:3]. Other platforms mentioned include OfferUp, eBay, Mercari, and Amazon Warehouse, which provide a range of budget-friendly options
[4:3].
Specialty Websites
Several specialty websites were suggested for specific types of decor. For example, Target is recommended for flatware and towels, CB2 for bath accessories, and Olive and Linen for bath towels and shower curtains [4:1]. Estate sales and antique auctions were also highlighted as excellent sources for furniture and decor, with local services being ideal for wood refinishing
[4:2].
Unique Finds
For those interested in unique or lesser-known stores, Artistic Space Decor and Farm and Pepper were mentioned as potential sources for high-quality home decor on a budget [5:1],
[5:2]. However, it's important to be cautious of certain sites like Polkaat, which was flagged as potentially unreliable
[4:8].
Additional Recommendations
In addition to the suggestions from the discussions, consider exploring local craft fairs or markets for handmade items, or checking out Habitat for Humanity ReStores for discounted furniture and decor. These options can provide unique pieces while supporting community initiatives.
Have you tried Etsy?
I have not!
I would look there before I went to Hobby Lobby or Amazon. Lots of crafty people who are small business owners making beautiful stuff.
Try facebook marketplace. Bonus points if you join a community group in the more affluent part of your town.
That I do! Though their taste in decor is questionable 😂
Marshall's and tjmaxx and home goods often have amazing, unique pieces

hi all! i’m moving into my first apartment this coming month and have been looking for some good affordable home decor brands or websites, any suggestions?!
Budget will be really helpful. How much do you want to spend on a sofa, chairs, a headboard for your bed, nightstands etc.
we have had good luck finding things secondhand on facebook marketplace
What does affordable mean to you?
I love finding special pieces online. Mid in Mod always surprises me—my ashland recliner sofa is my favorite spot to rest my morning coffee. I also adore Joybird for its range of color-pop sofas, and I snagged a velvet accent chair there that brightens my mornings. Article has great rugs—my Gable Ivory is still perfect after months of use. Lately I’ve been eyeing a sleek floor lamp from Homary to add a warm glow to my reading nook.
I’m moving and need a lot of things small and big, from a couch to plates and silverware. I’m looking for websites that are very low cost and more points if it’s not well know!
Estate sales. Sign up for an email that sends you the list of local ones every week. Great for decor and kitchen stuff
Where do you find estate sales? I can never figure out how to locate them. I know that sounds silly, but if I type in estate sales I feel like it gives me spam listings.
Facebook marketplace, habitat for humanity restore, goodwill, offerup, ebay, Mercari, bealls, and amazon warehouse.
I like going to thrift stores best! Savers is my favorite. You can see the items in person and they're pretty cheap especially compared to new.
Yes! OP, my local thrift stores have silverware for 25 cents!
Facebook Marketplace
What style and vibe do you want? If you're just going for cost these are the best places by decor type imo
Polkaat is dropshipped junk, this is a bot using an upvote script (look at any Polkaat bots post history). Do not buy from polkaat!
This is super helpful, thank you!
Here's a new store for your list! https://farmandpepper.com/
Your opt in pop up is broken. It takes over the whole site and you can't close it. I would suggest you fix that asap as it does not make for a good user experience!
I’m sorry that happened to you. I’m not sure why you’re experiencing that. I just clicked the link myself and was easily able to “X” out of the opt-in pop up and read the article just fine.
Thank you for this post!!
You are very welcome!
You can also add this to the list
I’m looking suggestions for affordable websites - I really want to redo my apartment and don’t know where to start especially when I’m on a budget - thank you!
Society6 has a bunch of boho stuff that you can usually find promo codes and sales on. I like that you can find large format art that doesn’t brake the bank.
If you find an artist you like on Society6 you may be able to find them on Etsy and buy a digital print for super cheap. You can have the art printed and delivered on any number of sites for very little. I did this to get some very large prints for my old place! I found a custom frame seller on Etsy for cheap cheap, too. Good luck!
Thrift/charity shops!!! Facebook marketplace, gumtree, freegle, eBay, Etsy, antique shops, garage sales... If you can be patient searching, secondhand is great value, more unique items, and can be longer lasting if you find the high quality older furniture before it was all mass produced. It also massively helps the planet. 🥰
World market
I second this. I have a hard time not impulse buying at WM.
Let me know if you find any good sites! I really want a ton of the stuff on Etsy but it's so damn expensive and I'm trying to find alternatives.
Believe it or not, Urban Outfitters. Browse and note the stuff you like, and then check the prices on them regularly for a sale. Sales are often 40% off and their items tend to take months, sometimes years, to be discontinued. I'm a big fan of some of their quirky, unique ceramic or terracotta side tables. Also, H&M has a surprisingly nice home section on their website, but their popular items go fast, often in mere days, and don't come back so if you fall in love with something, grab it. I'm also a big sucker for Threshold by Studio McGee at Target. Didn't care for many of Threshold's past collaborations, but some of their collab with SM has really hit on all of my decor bittons.

Depending on your tastes, I would recommend our local thrift stores like Ruth’s Room, Twice as Nice, or Upscale Resale
Hit some estate sales.
Ruth’s Room and Upscale Resale as well as sometimes the Mini Mall!!!!! Hope this helps
Facebook marketplace
Def the thrift stores but dollar tree has some good crap. fake flowers and holiday stuff mostly but it helps fill in the blanks
If not Ikea where can i find some affordable and easily replaceable home items. Vases, runners, decor items etc.
I think Kaison and Hooga fit the bill for what you’re looking for. I would also suggest the home goods floor of most anchor department stores like Aeon and Parkson, especially in the bigger malls.
OP may explore the below, would suggest to start with MyTown for the 1st 3 shops below:
Wanted to add onto this… Kaison and U.JU would be my first choice for trendy decor at affordable prices. Hooga is a step up in quality so it’s a bit more expensive, but their clearance prices are great. Home’s Harmony is great for towels.
Jalan Jalan Japan and JBR Bundle if you like to thrift
You can try your luck with BuyNothing groups on FB and carousell, although searching for what suits your taste may take a while.
Hi everyone! I've been wanting to redecorate parts of my home (especially my bedroom) and I just wanted to get everyone's input on where they get their home decor. I usually check out thrift/vintage stores for nice and unique decorations & also for recycling secondhand items as it's more sustainable but because of covid-19 they're all closed :( I don't mind checking out online stores as well as long as they're also good quality items!
I like At Home. They have some really neat stuff and their prices are pretty good.
Goodwill and other thrift stores often sell things like plates, trays, and vases for 25 to 50 cents each near where I live.
Habitat for Humanity ReStores also sell old furniture and usually a lot of framed paintings and canvases also for very cheap (plus, all the profit goes towards Habitat for Humanity).
Ikea is my favorite place to get smaller picture frames, can usually be found for a dollar each.
facebook marketplace!! and the for-sale section on nextdoor. i have found some GEMS on there, especially in the summer when a lot of leases turn over and people do move-out sales. during COVID i've just been trying to be selective & cautious about how i pick up (paying via venmo & doing contactless pickup)
for non-thrifted stuff, I really like H&M! their home decor stuff is mostly online-only, so even pre-/post-pandemic you can't see it in person before you buy, but its in general REALLY affordable and trendy!
I totally forgot about H&M, they have super cute stuff that’s my style! thank you!
Estate sales can have some real gems, and I think often you get better deals than craigslist or thrift stores, because they’re just trying to clear the whole house out, especially on the last day of the sale.
Ross. Some things are cheap looking but I decorated most of my apartment with things I found at Ross. Wall art is way cheaper than at target. They have everything (kitchen wear, home decor, clothing, etc), I’ve even bought bulk spices there for really good prices
Hello! I've just moved to Brum this week and I've been looking for a cheap good house decorations store to make the rented house look more homey. Something similar to the Jumbo store if anyone from Greece or Romania knows.
Thanks!
The range & B&M are a good shout
Edited: TK Maxx also
Wow thanks for the fast reply, will pay them a visit soon
I’d seccond TKMaxx. It’s good for homeward and kitchenware and it’s cheap.
I also agree with B & M another similar would be The Range
Wilko is great for household accessories and stuff.
Tk Maxx is good too
Latifs in digbeth for the super budget option
Agree, they're currently a bit low on stock though as they're moving building
You get really good stuff in there sometimes, just depends when you go. They're amazing for blinds at any time though, I never go anywhere else.
Is it worth ordering online from there or is it better to just go to the store?
Homesense is also a great option. They have lots of affordable bits, plus some more luxury items too. There is one at Merry Hill (Brierley Hill/Dudley) and one in Solihull.

Key Considerations for Affordable Home Decor
Budget: Set a clear budget before shopping to avoid overspending. Affordable decor can range from $10 to $100 depending on the item.
Style: Identify your preferred style (e.g., modern, bohemian, rustic) to ensure that your decor pieces complement each other and create a cohesive look.
Versatility: Look for items that can serve multiple purposes or can be easily moved around, such as decorative baskets or multi-functional furniture.
DIY Options: Consider DIY projects to personalize your space. Simple crafts can transform inexpensive materials into unique decor.
Thrift and Vintage Finds: Explore thrift stores, flea markets, and online marketplaces for unique and budget-friendly decor items.
Recommendations:
Wall Art: Look for affordable prints or posters on platforms like Etsy or Society6. You can also frame your own photos or artwork for a personal touch.
Plants: Incorporate indoor plants or succulents. They add life to your space and can often be found at low prices at local nurseries or even grocery stores.
Throw Pillows and Blankets: These can easily refresh a room. Check stores like Target, IKEA, or even online retailers for budget-friendly options.
Lighting: Consider affordable lamps or string lights to create ambiance. They can dramatically change the feel of a room without breaking the bank.
Rugs: Look for budget-friendly area rugs at stores like Wayfair or Overstock. A good rug can tie a room together.
By focusing on these areas, you can create a stylish and inviting home without spending a fortune!
