TL;DR The Infiniti G37 is highly recommended for its performance, reliability, and affordability. Other notable options include the M37 and EX37, which offer luxury features at a competitive price.
Infiniti G37
The Infiniti G37 stands out as a popular choice among enthusiasts due to its sporty drive and reliable 3.7 V6 engine. Many users praise its handling and power, making it a great option for those seeking a balance between performance and luxury [1:2]
[1:4]. The G37's AWD system, derived from Porsche technology, adds to its appeal as a versatile vehicle suitable for various driving conditions
[1:2].
Infiniti M37
For those looking for a more spacious option, the Infiniti M37 offers similar sporty characteristics in a midsize package. It's based on the G37 platform but provides additional room and comfort [1:12]. The M37 is often seen as a middle ground between sportiness and practicality, making it a solid choice for daily driving
[4:5].
Reliability and Maintenance
Infiniti models, particularly those with the VQ37 engine, are known for their reliability when properly maintained. Regular oil changes and routine maintenance can ensure these vehicles last well over 200k miles [4:1]. However, potential buyers should be aware of specific issues such as gallery gasket problems in pre-2012 models
[4:1]. Despite some concerns about repair costs and insurance, many owners find Infinitis to be a worthwhile investment for their performance and driving experience
[4:3].
Alternative Models
Other Infiniti models like the EX37 and FX35 also receive positive feedback for their design and exhaust note [5:3]
[5:6]. While not as commonly recommended as the G37, these models offer unique features that may appeal to different preferences. Additionally, the Q50 with a 3.7 engine is noted for its power and reliability, though modifications may require supporting upgrades
[1:7].
Considerations Beyond Infiniti
While Infiniti cars provide a good blend of luxury and performance, it's important to consider other brands like Lexus or Mazda if reliability and resale value are top priorities [1:6]
[3:1]. Ultimately, choosing the right car depends on individual needs and budget constraints.
I'm looking at Infinitis back when their cars used to be competitive. You can get something like a G37 or an EX37 crossover/wagon or hell even a midsize M37 for $10-15k if that.
I'm not saying $10-15k is necessarily super cheap. But think about what you're getting. It's not a 2022 Mercedes luxury, but it's still a luxury car, and they drive sporty and make really good power from the 3.7 V6. AWD or RWD for the sporty drive, from what I understand reliable if you stick to the 3.7. They're not great new but as a semi-enthusiastic choice of a practical/daily-able reliable car, is there anything better? It seems to me like you're getting a car that will smoke past these turbo 4 basic germans that cost the same or more like the audi a4 or bmw 3 series and the like. and be more reliable too. And maybe less luxurious, but how much less really? compared to how bad it outperforms them.
I think of Lexus but the 350 models (which make comparable power) are a few grand more expensive for similar mileage/ears. An IS350 is almost always 4-5 grand more expensive than a G37 despite the G37 outperforming it. I get the Lexus is top notch build quality and all but yeah. Anyway lmk what yall think or if some better, more depreciating yet still decent/reliable cars that come to mind!
G37x owner here. Love the car and a used one is a smoking deal. Don’t be afraid to tell people that the AWD system in the Infiniti’s started in the Porsche 959 and was refined in the GTR. It’s the same AWD system and it’s awesome. Best bang for your buck by far.
When comparing the Lexus against the Infiniti, keep in mind the 350 is more reliable, holds value longer, and has better handling and steering feel. Feels tighter overall. So you're paying for those extra things.
No it’s not. Have you driven both of those cars? The g37 without a doubt handles better and has better steering feel. The Lexus is more reliable but it’s not like the infinity isn’t unreliable. The infinity is a bargain because of depreciation.
That's what I'm thinking too. I've driven an IS300 before but not an IS350... but the IS300 AWD had the "detuned" version of the 3.5 V6. The G37 definitely felt sportier and more eager to be driven like a sports car. The IS is like a grown up mature luxury car that has performance capabilities if you need them. That and the fact that it holds its value so annoyingly well. To be honest I'd probably get an IS350 or GS350 and wouldn't be debating what car to get next, if it wasn't for their ABSURDLY slow depreciation rate. I just can't find a way to justify paying many thousand $ more for a Lexus that's, ultimately also a reliable japanese luxury V6 sedan... sure it's more luxurious, it's a Lexus etc. But can't justify the price jump, especially considering how much depreciation the Infinitis get
I have had 3 Infiniti’s, a 2005 g35. 2012 g37. 2018 q50 red sport. They are fantastic. If you want power you can’t beat it for RWD in this price range.
Awesome to hear. How did they hold up reliability wise especially the G37?
Also what are your thoughts on the build quality and how it holds up over time, again specifically for the G37 (since it's those generation Infinitis that I'm looking at to buy in a near future)? For reference if you could place it between a Lexus that still drives like brand new after 150k miles, and an old E Class that's rattling and creaking after 100k miles. Where would the Infiniti [G37] be?
Another vote here for the G37x, mainly for the motor/drivetrain. The VQ37 is awesome. It's not cheap to fuel but it has tons of power, the expensive bits are reliable, and with snow tires, is a total beast in snow.
Absolutely bulletproof.
There's a tiny issue on 2011 and older versions than can be spendy if it goes, but it's a less than 1% chance it ever happens, and it's not catastrophic to the point it destroys the motor, just a $1500 repair bill.
2012 and up have zero known weak points.
Source: owned a 2007 G35xS sedan for 5 years. Biggest bill I ever got stuck with was $300 for a wheel bearing. Otherwise, it was just fluids, belts, plugs, and filters DIY'ed. They're stupidly easy to work on.
‘06 G35 was the best car I ever had, and I kick myself every day for not still owning it.
The wife had an '04 G35X sedan and we loved it. Around 2016 rodents ate the wiring harness and it was never the same again after repair by the dealer. Around 2019 it started dying repeatedly while going 80mph on the highways in ATL rendering it nearly a death trap. Dealer couldn't figure out the problem so we dumped it at Carmax for $2000 with only 70k miles on it. Womp womp. Got her a like new condition Caddy CTS 3.6 loaded wagon with only 46k on it for $16k. She loves that even more.
G37 are great. A lot of people here see Nissan and have a fucking stroke. On the Q50 forums the 3.7 and 3.0TT are reliable as long as you don’t mod. If you do mod you need supporting mods. But the 3.0TT Q50 I rented was great, it had insane power.
I’d absolutely love one of those but there’s like one or two listing of the M56 in all of Canada. M37’s the next best thing which is still a pretty cool car considering it’s based on the sporty G37 but in a more spacious package
Tough to say without the mileage.
G37=170k G35=136k
Almost the same price, 34k less miles, I say go with the G35 if it's all the same to you.
The 35x looks like it's been in a bad accident that was improperly repaired. Hood misaligned, and it looks like the air intakes on the bumper were sprayed over in the same color as the bumper cover?
Infiniti cars are commonly known to not be aligned properly. Especially the bumpers.
Yeah, well spraying over the intakes gives it away
He probably just needs to clips for the bumper
Every infiniti used ive ever looked at for sale look like it was in a wreck or it had engine knock 😭
G35 unless there is some reliability issue with the3.5 compared to the3.7. But assuming no issues g35
I’d suggest the 35 based on mileage and AWD
3.7 for more power but that year is known for Gallery gasket issue. 3.5 if maintenance is up to date. Same go for both. Keep in mind they getting up there in miles.
Stuck between infiniti q30/qx30 (based on merc) or a mazda 6. Just love the looks of infiniti and even the mazda both are equally great
But have to choose one, what would you choose if given the option Any one owns a q30 not sure about the reliability on that one insights would be great
owned QX50 but hated its jerky cvt so I bought EX35 with standard automatic transmission and loving it to bits, a total worthy downgrade.
Thats true but then its got a dct 7 speed and its smooth
mazda 6 , have rented it for 3 days and it drives good.
the only problem is if you're tall , it's a little cramped
Qx30 only driven once , performance wise it's good, but i don't know liked the mazda 6 more
Overwhelming use of Merc parts with the QX30 so maintenance can get expensive. Mazda 6 for me.
I need a reliable infiniti that won't break down on me and is (preferably) fun to drive. I've been thinking of maybe an M45? Let me know what you guys recommend, what years I should look for and any problems I should be weary of. My budget is around 5-10k btw, thanks in advance!
I got my g as a college kid. Word of advice; while they are more on reliable side, when they do need work the parts get pretty expensive. Insurance is also gonna be expensive unless you do the absolute minimum coverage. They also take premium and like to guzzle gas so if you drive daily, you'll be puttin 70-100 into a tank every week or 2 depending on gas prices. Unless you got a solid savings or income id stick with a more economy vehicle like a civic. If you want somthin on the more on the fun side I've heard good things about miatas and ik they are easy to work on and dirt cheap to maintain.
If ur budget is 5-10k, expect to spend basically all of ur budget on anything newer than 2010. The infintis going for 5k and stuff are usually clapped to the moon and back
As far as gas mileage, I'm used to spending a lot on my truck lol. I also won't be putting a ton of miles on it, and ideally I need it to last a good 6 years until I have a stable income without any major problems while driving maybe 3-400 miles a month. If I put in the money to get a well taken care of one now, is it worth it?
I could look into another brand entirely, I'm just into cars and honestly am willing to spend a little extra for something I'd have fun driving. Infiniti seems like a good middle between what I need and what I want lol
If you stay religious on oil changes and such every 5k miles or so it can last well over 200k miles for the vq37 at least. Also be aware if you live in or near any large major cities, The sportier infintis are targets for car jacking. Also for the g37, I believe anything before a 2012 has a risk of gallery gasket issues once it gets to a higher mileage.
Maybe look into the nissan z's, they have the same engine and transmission as the infinitis but the parts and maintenance might have a more nissan price (aside for the oil). Also has alot more aftermarket customizability from what I've seen
Something with the 3.5 or 3.7
2007 and up will get you the VQ35HR which is solid.
2010 M45 Sport is cherry if you can find one. I own a 2004 M45 and 2014 Q70S. I was in an accident and totaled my 2010 M45 and I was really bummed. You will spend a bit in gas though but they are all very reliable if you take care of it....Only major problems I had on both the 2004 and 2010 was the crankshaft position sensor about $800 repair and replacing the power steering rack on both about $1200 repair did it myself (not fun) on the 2004 and the 2010 about a $1600 repair at the dealership. Gas, routine maintenance and sets of tires will be your wear and tear expenses to be expected.
Which would you say you enjoy more, the M45 or Q70? are they comparable in terms of reliability?
Both very reliable. The Q70 is the next generation of M37/45 starting in 2011. The newer the more expensive to repair.
I love my 2004 the most for the look of that generation. It's a dog at low RPMs but once it opens up it's so much fun to drive RWD. I preserve that one. The repairs are expensive for the rare availability of OEM parts when needed.
I like my 2014 Q70S for the luxury and sport wheels and AWD but has dated technology.
Why I think the 2010 M45x Sport (The one I totaled) is a very nice middle of the road of the two and a fun every day driver. And the way to go for my recommendation.
If...... you can spend a little more and get your hands on a AWD 2011 M37x/Q70s-V6 or M56x/Q70s-V8 you can't go wrong with any one these choices. Make sure you are ok with gas and tires budget though.
I like them all for different reasons and would preserve all if I could.
I’ve had a base m37 for almost 7 years now and can’t recommend it more
I would probably say g35 with all service done
Get a used Honda Civic.
Or a v6 accord
I’m curious to know what everyone’s favorite Infiniti car is! Whether it’s due to performance, comfort, design, reliability, or any other reason—I’d love to hear your thoughts. Share your favorite model and tell us what makes it stand out for you!
G37 hands down
ditto. '12 G37S manual transmission w wide tires and tweaked suspension Definitely the "funest" car +(including the '61 'Vette I had way back) . Really a pleasure to drive. Wifey hated it. Broke neck, lost effective use of clutch foot, sold car, wife is happy, Shit!
I’ve owned both a 3.7 q50 and a G37 sedan and I agree
FX35 😤😤😤
Why? Just look at it and listen to the exhaust note.
FX35
Fx50S
03-04 M45 is my FAVORITE. In Japan, the Cedric/Gloria had a single turbo VQ30 engine, but Nissan North America didn’t want to spend the coin to certify another engine platform for North American emission standards, so they just swapped in the already certified Q45 V8. Nissans cheapness accidentally made a factory V8 engine swapped hot rod. Awesome car.
But my opinion of the BEST Infiniti of all time (and I’ve driven them all, many times), is an 05-06 G35 sedan 6MT. Great sports car, great sedan, and just an overall fantastic all-purpose enthusiast car.
First car and I’ve decided I want it to last and be something I really like, I’ve really liked the g35-g37 Infiniti’s, I was interested in something that’s nice and is somewhat sporty and very comfortable and I think these are the best options for me, I just need to know I’m making the right choice especially since I’m gonna be locked in for 4 years. If not these cars what cars should I look into?
I absolutely hate these cars. Get something less revolting.
8 gen j series for the win bro, be different and have fun
Get ready to have ur car stolen LOL
Please not another one
Not a huge fan of these. They can be expensive to fix. I would listen to others recommending Acura.
One that I've always really liked is the Mazda Protege 5
I used to have a mazda protege 5 in black. Loved that car.
I always get some happy endorphins when I see a Miata with the top down.
Honda Civics are hard to beat. Just the standard Civic looks great but you can modify it in so many ways. It will drive great and last a long time, you can't go wrong.
I thought of another, Honda CRX. Those were good looking cars.
04-08 Acura TL
Affordable now or when they were produced?
I've always thought the 03-04 Infiniti M45 was awesome, but it only fits one of those caveats.
I mainly meant when they were produced. Those are interesting looking.
Need a car for around 25k. Just wanted to ask general questions like Are these Infinitis reliable? What are the common problems in these cars? Is maintenance costly?
Infiniti owners or anyone in general who knows about these cars pls let me know!
I still drive my 2010 EX35, love it to bits. It’s a classic old school car, no cvt and no turbo shit.
Its a reliable car if clean. A friend of mine bought a 2015 for 30k with similar mileage and had to replace the engine after a year. Reason was no PPI coz he trusted his mechanic and his "trusted friends" friend.
Sold it 17k after spending on repairs and headaches.
Hey, what went wrong on that engine? What should be done to avoid the issue?
If its a used car always get a proper PPI done. Don't ever trust or take anyone's word and buy.
And if the ppi report is clean, always ensure your oil changes are on time and the coolant levels and quality remain intact. Heat (low coolant levels) and improper oil change intervals kill most engines.
I own one, the sensors are.. fragile to say the least, but the rest is very reliable.
what sensors are you referring to?
I had multiple issues with traction control & parking brake sensors, where at certain acceleration speed the traction control & parking brake light would lit at the same time.
Good to hear !! What all do you think I should check when buying one of these 2nd hand?
Service history & PPI of course.
Pro Tip, avoid Infiniti as the spares/maintenance may go beyond your expectations.
General rule when purchasing a used car,
I love cars. Always have always will but being that I am pretty low on the pay scale I don’t have extra income to throw towards a nice sports car. I was lucky enough to find a 02 Infiniti that is pretty cool and was dirt cheap but has lots of problems and sometimes it’s hard not to want or be jelly of folks that can afford newer cars. If y’all are into cars, how do you keep the passion alive? Personally I try to go to meets, play car related video games and read, however nothing is like owning a sweet car.
MIATA. They are cheap, good on gas, light & great to drive, and they’re reliable & easy to maintain. Best car possible.
I was looking for one awhile back but they are super expensive! I was seen 2006 Miatas that didn’t run go for like 8k!
The market is crazy right now, like the same price as a Z3m lmao.
I’ve always been into cars, when I was broke I started off with some old jettas/GTI. Great cars and were easy to work on. Few years later I found a 98 M3 for 4k!.
Now I have a decent career and was able to get a car I’ve always wanted lol
I kinda did it backwards unfortunately. When I turned 21 I was working in the trades, single, and living at home so I bought a Focus ST on payments. Fast forward two years and I ended up getting married, going back to school and moving to a city. I had to sell the Focus and now we have a Honda and Infiniti. They are older than most of the people I go to school with but they are paid off. It’s tough to loose the good life style but sometimes sacrifices have to be made
How do I keep the passion alive? By working on my car lol I have a 1990 5.0 Mustang, thing is dope but not the prettiest thing in the world since I’ve gotten into 2 accidents with it. Could easily get another one that’s nice but something about being able to say “I still have my first car” in 30yrs is gonna be sweet. Right now, I have to rebuild my motor since it seems like 2 lifters have collapsed and I still have a smashed in quarter panel from a year ago. By no means do I have “fuck it” money for this thing, nearly everything I’ve bought has been second hand (heads,intake,exhaust,5 lug brake upgrade). That’s the key to keeping things cheap. I’m also subbed to a bunch of foxbody channels, usually older guys who’ve been in the foxbody crowd since the 90’s passing down knowledge.
That’s sick! Finding a good community that shares the passion is where it’s at. I have tried to make friends at meets but there are a lot of broccoli top 18 something year olds that just want to race and flaunt their super expensive car.
Yeah, having an older brother that loves these cars helps a lot too. I’m 25 and I feel like any sort of car meet going on usually attracts a certain crowd I don’t really relate to or want to interact with.. I just stick with quick chats at gas stations/red lights/or when I get something off fb marketplace. I think you should try to make your daily driver as nice as you can make it with what you’ve got, I usually start by thoroughly cleaning the interior since it’s what you look at most of the time anyway
If you need a car, you need a car. A used Miata is about the same price as a used Corolla.
If you're gonna buy a shitty used car, why not get a fun one? Why suffer? 20 year old Corollas aren't special anymore man, they're just old cars.
Kinda want to get into this NGL but I don't have a garage....
I was saying to my gf yesterday if you just get good at Subaru head gaskets you could clean up on FB marketplace.
This. Avoid the want it right now mentality. Get stable. Save money and then splurge on the good things in life. Patience pays big dividends but so few have it.
Oof. I’d hate to move my car that much …That would turn me into a bike guy . I’ve fixed cars and I’ve fixed motorbikes I think they’re both cool and the engine go brbrbrbrbr
best affordable infiniti car
Key Considerations for Affordable Infiniti Cars
Model Selection: Look for models that are known for reliability and value. The Infiniti Q50 and QX50 are popular choices that often come at a more affordable price point.
Used vs. New: Consider purchasing a certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicle. CPO models often come with warranties and have undergone thorough inspections, making them a good value.
Fuel Efficiency: Check the fuel economy ratings. Models like the Q50 offer decent fuel efficiency for a luxury sedan, which can save you money in the long run.
Maintenance Costs: Research the average maintenance costs for the model you’re considering. Some luxury vehicles can have higher upkeep costs.
Features and Trim Levels: Determine which features are essential for you. Sometimes, opting for a lower trim level can significantly reduce the price while still providing a luxury experience.
Recommendation: The Infiniti Q50 is often regarded as one of the best affordable options in the Infiniti lineup. It offers a blend of performance, comfort, and technology at a competitive price. If you're considering a used model, aim for one from the last few years to benefit from updated features and styling. The QX50 is also a solid choice if you prefer an SUV, providing ample space and versatility without breaking the bank.
