TL;DR
Design and Style
Infiniti vehicles have been appreciated for their design, with models like the Q60 and G35 Coupe frequently mentioned for their aesthetic appeal [1:1],
[1:3]. The FX series is noted for its distinctive look that stands out from other cars
[1:1],
[2:3]. The first-generation M45 also receives praise for its cool appearance
[1:1].
Performance and Reliability
The G37 is often highlighted as one of the most reliable Infiniti models, with many owners sharing positive experiences regarding its dependability [3:1],
[3:2],
[5:2]. The 03-04 M45 is admired for its V8 engine, which was a result of Nissan's decision to use an already certified engine platform
[2:1]. However, newer models like the Q50 have faced criticism due to turbo issues, although some claim these problems were resolved in 2020+ models
[5:7],
[5:10].
Historical Impact
Older Infiniti models such as the first-gen Q45 and the G35/37 series are remembered fondly for their impact on the market, challenging competitors like BMW's 3 Series [4:6],
[4:9]. These models were popular among younger drivers due to their powerful engines and sporty designs
[4:4].
Current Market Trends
Infiniti has shifted focus towards SUVs and crossovers, largely due to market demand and sales trends [4:1]. This shift has led to the discontinuation of some sedan models, including the Q50
[5:5]. Despite this, there remains a strong appreciation for the brand's older sedans and coupes, which continue to be celebrated for their style and performance.
Recommendations Beyond Discussions
For those seeking a reliable and stylish Infiniti vehicle, the G37 remains a solid choice. If considering newer models, ensure any potential turbo issues have been addressed by opting for post-2020 versions of the Q50. Additionally, exploring the FX series or older M45 models might offer a unique blend of style and performance.
In my opinion their best design was the 14-17 Q50 sport. I think that they are one of the most gorgeous sedan out here. First gen G35 coupe and G37's coupe are really nice too. But what are your picks?
I think the q60 is one of the best-looking cars out there in general, but I don't love the rear. It may not be everyone's first choice, but I love the look of the FX, there aren't really any other cars out there that look like it. The first-generation M45 is way cool looking too.
i own a g37 6mt rn, i wouldve copped a q60 red sport right after i saw them in the dealership if they made them with a manual transmission. q60s are so nice, the Z ’s styling was never my taste, but if they make the new one in nismo i might just think about it
Q60 was only sold in the US market I believe. So there wouldn’t be a Nismo variant since it isn’t badged as a Nissan anywhere.
Q60 are also amazing
G35 Coupe
G35X sedan felt like a sleeper
I wonder if in 20 years, I'll be that old guy saying. Darn wish I never sold mine! When I see one at a car meet
M37x is such a boss car. Feels like a mafioso
frl M cars are real big boss car. especially if they have the V8's
Eventually for mine, I want to get some new wheels and lower it about an inch or so to fill the wheel wells in a little better, I feel like it sits just a tad too high with the stock 18s.
Even with the 20’s for Q70L I fee like it could use a slight lowering to fill the wheel wells.
FX50 big boy V8 is goated
I’m curious to know what everyone’s favorite Infiniti car is! Whether it’s due to performance, comfort, design, reliability, or any other reason—I’d love to hear your thoughts. Share your favorite model and tell us what makes it stand out for you!
G37 hands down
ditto. '12 G37S manual transmission w wide tires and tweaked suspension Definitely the "funest" car +(including the '61 'Vette I had way back) . Really a pleasure to drive. Wifey hated it. Broke neck, lost effective use of clutch foot, sold car, wife is happy, Shit!
I’ve owned both a 3.7 q50 and a G37 sedan and I agree
FX35 😤😤😤
Why? Just look at it and listen to the exhaust note.
FX35
Fx50S
03-04 M45 is my FAVORITE. In Japan, the Cedric/Gloria had a single turbo VQ30 engine, but Nissan North America didn’t want to spend the coin to certify another engine platform for North American emission standards, so they just swapped in the already certified Q45 V8. Nissans cheapness accidentally made a factory V8 engine swapped hot rod. Awesome car.
But my opinion of the BEST Infiniti of all time (and I’ve driven them all, many times), is an 05-06 G35 sedan 6MT. Great sports car, great sedan, and just an overall fantastic all-purpose enthusiast car.
I saw a really nice Infiniti at the nearby dealership, and was wondering if they’re any good. Are they reliable?
We have a 2012 G35S. It has been extremely reliable.
I had a 2009 g37x, wonderful car, sold to my brother, who drove it for several years with regular maintenance, and no problems
i like Q’s but they can get expensive
Completely depends on the model, every brand has good and bad models.
Older ones (pre 2000s) are. Anything after that, ESPECIALLY ANYTHING THAT HAS A CVT, is not. The G37 I believe is the really the only reliable infinti
Pass, my Q70 is so much sexier.
Q and M are the same car, they just changed the name after 2015ish. it is a looker tho/ too bad they killed it
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infiniti_M#Fourth_generation_(2010%E2%80%932019)
Q70 is the best car they made by far
Correction Qx70 5.0 is the best
That v8 q70 slept on man
But its not though infiniti is damn near bankrupt nowadays cause nobody was buying their cars so they stopped selling sedans and coupes and strictly went to suvs for the time being. Trust me idk why cause i think they all look really nice and sporty but the masses didnt
The cars were everywhere a decade ago, but it was always young people who had them because they had a good engine. Infiniti clings to the SUV and crossover today because they sell in China apparently.
I think they lost market share when they wouldn't update their interiors through the twenty-teens. Everything had a great 3.7 L engine they used for everything - same engine as the Nissan Z - even the smaller SUVs use it. But the most high-tech feature any of them had was 4-way parking cameras.
My 2016 QX50 has the same infotainment system as my dad's 2001 M35. That was no good. It was a perfectly athletic crossover - well-appointed, sensibly equipped - with a 30k price point. But it was completing in the same ring as Audi and Mercedes, who were using wimpier engines but had a brand new interior with touch screens everywhere.
I think the extremely late adoption of the panoramic sunroof hit HARD too, as silly as that sounds. Somewhere in the 20-teens the tiny, rectangular sunroof suddenly felt dated and cheap. Like, "Oh thanks for cutting me this tiny hole. My friend has a glass roof, but thanks."
Yup. People demand Nissan CVT's now. Old Infiniti's just can't compete unfortunately.
They where…G35/37 was the peak and nothing has really been the same since
It was iconic and was the first Japanese car that actually challenged BMW's 3 Series.
Yeah that first Gen Q45 was a force to be reckoned with.
Especially with Super HICAS!
Selling my old G37 - nothing wrong with it, just want something new. Great car and I love reliability. What are the most reliable Infiniti sedans u can get today brand new
G37 probably the most reliable one out there. If you get a newer Q50 make sure there’s extended warranty. 3.7 has trans issues and 3.0t has turbo issues
I talked to several people and the turbo issues should have supposedly been fixed in 2020 and newer models, but I drive old g37's so I don't have any real experience.
The 3.0t is pretty much garbage compared to the 3.7 and they only make the Q50.
Unfortunately if you want reliable and brand new, Lexus.
Okay garbage? Nah bro lmao hes talking about brand new and the 2020+ basically solved the turbo issues so hed be in better shape in a 2022 Q50 and if hes looking to mod he’ll have a beast of a car.
It's still slow and heavy compared to the competition. I love my G37 but nissan died after the VQ37HR era, he could keep his G37 and get a BMW With a B58 egine those things are stupid crazy quick
Everyone thought the turbo issues were fixed in 2018… no one knows if the 2020+ are in fact fixed. Still way too early and if they are breaking, they are still under warranty and not posting on the forums.
From what I’ve seen, they didn’t change the turbos much.
From a reliability perspective, the 3.0 is garbage compared to the VQ.
Sadly I think as far as new Infiniti sedans go, I’d pass on them
I'd pass on 2016-2019. 2020+ is reliable. That first gen turbo was not as reliable as the 3.7 though.
Infiniti is discontinuing the q50, not sure if there are plans for a new sedan sadly
I'd say the HR engines. My 07 G35x has 277k still going strong.
Like you said, those cars are exclusive to Japan with only 1000 made. The Q50s will continue everywhere else.
Was in the market and almost bought a Q50, but after hearing so much about turbo issues went and got an IS300. Have had it for 2 weeks and love it so far.
As the title says. Figured this subbreddit could help with recommendations.
Not an Infiniti. Never. No. Don’t. They’re terrible first cars. You need a car that:
Is reliable, so no abused sports cars. Gets good MPG is cheap Doesn’t require premium fuel Easy to find
The car that fits the bill perfectly is……
A Honda Fit.
They’re perfect first cars!
100% I loved my G35 and now my G37, but I couldn’t imagine dealing with them as a learning driver. Great 2nd car though haha
No fuck this concept. Honda fit will get you made fun of in my school when I was young. Ion give a fuck if that motherfucker is brand new it’s getting smoked by the shitboxes and they’re 5000 mustang just earned them more pussy than having a father that owns a whole car lot full of Honda shit
Have you considered you got made fun of for other reasons
So a G20.
I imagine the used G20 market is basically the used Altima neglected car with a premium price.
My first car was a 92 Honda Accord Lx
My first car was a 2011 m37X. Loved every second of it, but god it made it painful looking for a new car when I couldn't maintain it anymore.
Sure other cars, like a civic, are more reliable, but I have yet to find one that was as fun to drive
Get ready for the "bought my son his first car" comments
Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla

I came from Asia, and back in Japan during late 2000s and early 2010s, the Infiniti G and M models were essentially rebadged Skylines and Fugas. During that era, Nissan products were decent—as a kid, I even dreamed of driving a V36 Skyline with a VQ37 engine and 300+ horsepower and would pick up a G37 over the IS350 and E90 330i. Infinity G-class and M class have solid build quality unlike those modern day CVT Nissans. Back in 2015, when I was picking up my first car, I test drove the G37, it was a sporty sedan that drove fantastically, and I believe it’s a better car than F30 328i.M/Q70 models were surprisingly comfortable in the back seats, it’s much more comfortable than the F10 5 series and W212 E-class. I still remember the first time seeing the Q50 decade ago and it’s a really good looking sedan with all the Skyline element.
So, given this impressive legacy, why does Infiniti face so much negativity today? I understand VQ owners give those cars a bad reputation, but Infinity products are at least pretty decent in my standard.
I used to own an 08 350Z. The build quality of FM platform Nissans and Infinitis, basically any nissan or infiniti that's RWD-based and wasn't a body-on-frame SUV, was actually quite good. The chassis and powertrains in particular were extremely tough. They're cheap to fix, tune and abuse, which is why they got so popular with a certain set of people
Almost every Infiniti I see is on its 3rd or 4th owner and is straight piped with tinted windows. Infiniti owners are always weaving in and out of traffic and blasting music. Whenever I see an Infiniti I just automatically assume the person driving it is a typical Staten Island douchebag. (Trust me my first car was a 2008 G35x)
>Almost every Infiniti I see is on its 3rd or 4th owner and is straight piped with tinted windows. Infiniti owners are always weaving in and out of traffic and blasting music.
This is a weird description of pretty much exactly the car that passed me yesterday on my way home from work. Road my bumper all the way through a town I go through and then passed me on the back country road, in a downpour, loud as hell exhaust but somehow I could still hear the bass from their stereo. Black badges, black car, black tint. Passed some other cars further ahead, going well over the speed limit and darting around the cars like he thought he was in a Fast and the Furious movie. All I could do was laugh.
>(Trust me my first car was a 2008 G35x)
Did you fog the tail lights so it is hard for the person behind you to know when you are braking?
LOL one of the best engines year after year. Wards 10 best engines for 14 years straight. The fact that SO many clapped out VQs are STILL running is impressive!
Because it attracts the venn-diagram overlap of car guys and nissan drivers
any time I see a lowered/different colored panel infiniti I just assume the driver has committed a felony at some point in his life
Facts: the last guy I went to court for trying to kill me drove a clapped out Infiniti G. I’m sure he was the 6th owner. Total piece of shit. Low credit score behavior.
My family thinks Infinitis are luxury Hyundais and therefore are less desirable than a Subaru based off reliability. They also have banned Nissans and Hondas because of computer issues from 20-30 years ago, so that's their logic.
The actual cars themselves in their stock form are pretty clean and sleek looking. Decently quick and fast as well, for the price. I think it’s pretty much just the stereotype of people that drive them. That’s pretty much it.
“Why is it always the guy in the Infiniti?!?
-Paul Rudd in This Is 40, after nearly getting run over while on his bike, by an Infiniti.
I’m not too sure, but I think it’s the demographic they tend to attract. The broccoli headed, saggy pant wearing. gun carrying demographic has ruined the image of this car imo. At least in the US.
Yes, it's called a takeover, and you can find a shitbox nissan altima rwd edition at every one.
😂far from shitbox
Whatever you whisper into your racecar bed's pillow at night
The 35x looks like it's been in a bad accident that was improperly repaired. Hood misaligned, and it looks like the air intakes on the bumper were sprayed over in the same color as the bumper cover?
Every infiniti used ive ever looked at for sale look like it was in a wreck or it had engine knock 😭
Infiniti cars are commonly known to not be aligned properly. Especially the bumpers.
Yeah, well spraying over the intakes gives it away
The 37 looks wrecked too. Rear door doesn’t match
G37=170k G35=136k
Almost the same price, 34k less miles, I say go with the G35 if it's all the same to you.
G35 unless there is some reliability issue with the3.5 compared to the3.7. But assuming no issues g35
3.7 for more power but that year is known for Gallery gasket issue. 3.5 if maintenance is up to date. Same go for both. Keep in mind they getting up there in miles.
I’d suggest the 35 based on mileage and AWD
Everyone here is an optimist
Having owned a q50 and a q60 I can personally attest that Infinitis are trash. I experienced blown engines, blown turbos, broken rack and pinion, and electronics issues with zero mods and moderate driving habits. The VR30 is defective from the factory having hairline cracks from a poor casting process.
They also like to shred their serpentine belts early as if they're made of Swiss cheese, and the amount of transmission valve body replacement stories is scarily common. It's a shame the tech is so old and the drivetrain has so many failure points, as the Q60 is a gorgeous looking coupe.
That's because you didn't let the oil change go for 37k miles, low 3 quarts, and kept the engine at redline even at the first start of the day.
Had you done that, it would have 240k and still produce enough power to delete a bumper or two and earn you a rebuilt title
Got nothing against the car itself.. the people that drive them?? Ohhh boy
You probably haven’t hung out with us gti folk much
I love a good vw gti.
I'm sick of getting asked if/when I'm gonna mod mine. I just like the car, man.
How is the Golf R crowd in comparison?
Yeah but look how good they all are at parking...
A credit rating black hole.
Hey what’s wrong with low taper fades? My mom says I look very handsome
All of them are parked as if they pulled over at the last minute.

Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Infiniti Vehicle:
Model Range: Infiniti offers a variety of models, including sedans (like the Q50 and Q60), SUVs (like the QX50 and QX80), and performance-oriented options (like the Q60 Red Sport). Determine which type of vehicle fits your needs.
Performance: Look for models with powerful engines and smooth handling. The Q60 Red Sport, for example, features a twin-turbo V6 that delivers impressive performance.
Luxury Features: Infiniti vehicles are known for their luxurious interiors. Consider the quality of materials, technology features (like the InTouch infotainment system), and comfort options (like heated and ventilated seats).
Safety Ratings: Check safety ratings and available safety features. Many Infiniti models come equipped with advanced safety technologies, such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
Fuel Efficiency: Depending on your driving habits, fuel efficiency may be a significant factor. The QX50, for instance, offers a good balance of power and efficiency with its turbocharged engine.
Recommendation: The Infiniti QX60 is often regarded as one of the best overall Infiniti vehicles due to its spacious interior, family-friendly features, and a strong V6 engine. It combines luxury with practicality, making it a great choice for those needing a versatile SUV.
