Iconic Battles
Several anime fights have become iconic due to their intense choreography and emotional stakes. The battle between Naruto and Sasuke, particularly their first major fight, is often cited for its animation quality and emotional depth [3]. Similarly, Levi vs Beast Titan from Attack on Titan is frequently mentioned for its breathtaking animation and the sheer intensity of the confrontation
[4:1].
Visually Stunning Fights
Some fights are celebrated purely for their visual spectacle. The final fight in Sword of the Stranger is a standout example, praised for its fluid animation and cinematic execution [1:4]
[2:4]. Another visually impressive fight is Saitama vs Boros from One Punch Man, which showcases dynamic animation and over-the-top action sequences
[2:3].
Emotional and Narrative Impact
Fights that carry significant narrative weight or emotional impact also rank highly among fans. The duel between Kirei and Kiritsugu in Fate/Zero is noted for its buildup and satisfying conclusion [3:2]. Similarly, Itachi vs Sasuke in Naruto is remembered not only for its combat but also for the emotional revelations and plot twists it delivers
[4:1].
Unique and Memorable Moments
Certain fights stand out for their unique elements or memorable moments. Mumen Rider vs Sea King in One Punch Man is highlighted for its unexpected heroism and emotional resonance, despite being less about power and more about spirit [3:7]. The fight between Gaara and Rock Lee in Naruto is another classic, showcasing impressive martial arts choreography and character development
[4:6].
Studio Excellence
Ufotable's adaptations are frequently praised for their high-quality animation and choreography, with several fights from the Fate series being notable examples, such as Saber vs Rider in Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel [5:6]. However, some fans critique the studio for focusing too much on visuals at the expense of narrative depth
[5:7].
These discussions highlight that the best anime fights often combine stunning visuals, emotional depth, and significant narrative stakes, creating memorable experiences for viewers.
What is the best fight scene in anime? This should be interesting. Time to watch some fights. My pick is Luffy vs Rob Lucci.
Araragi vs Kiss-Shot in Kizumonogatari III
Sakata Gintoki vs Shinsuke Takasugi
Final fight in Sword of the Stranger.
Non Non Biyori ruler match
I'ma top this along with nichijou's coin soccer
Naruto and Sasuke vs Momoshiki in the Boruto anime.
It's so well done and improved on its movie counterpart greatly.
Chief, this is it
I've moderately been exposed to anime in the past, but never really kept up with anime nor did I ever really watch it religiously at any point. However, I did always enjoy the crazy fight scenes from stuff like One Punch Man or Brock Lee v Gara and occasionally find myself watching "hype anime fight scenes" on youtube for anime's I have never scene. I was curious what y'all think are your favorite picks?
Take your pick of some of the bigger fights in Gurren Lagann, the vast majority of them are very good.
I'll list some of my favorites.
Demon Slayer: Rengoku vs Akaza, Tanjiro and Uzui vs Gyutaro
Jujutsu Kaisen: Fushigoro vs Special Grade
Bleach: Genryusai vs Ywach, Ichigo vs Ulquiorra
Mob Psycho 100: Mob vs Suzuki
One Punch Man: Saitama vs Boros
The final fight in Sword of the Stranger.
Came here to say that. It's well choreographed no talking just two people fighting.
For me it is no doubt the scene from Demon Slayer Season 2 episode 10. UFOTABLE are straight up just aliens. That or the crazy bastards have reached enlightenment.
Based purely on visuals, the two big fights in F/SN HF 2 and 3 are pretty easily the most stunning fights I've seen.
The final Gintama fight is also a spectacle, as is the final fight of Sword of the Stranger.
Hey guys, i have been debating with some friends of mine about an interesting topic/question.
The best anime fight of all time.
My answer was kinda biased, grew up with Naruto, but i really think that the „first big battle“ between Naruto and Sasuke fight is the best anime fight of all time. Looking at the animations, the vibe, the intensity, this fight was nearly perfect ( imo).
Friends didnt agree tho. They mentioned Bleach fights, like Ichigo vs Grimjow, or Ichigo vs Ulquiora, etc. .
So im kinda interested in your opinions. What do other people think about this topic. It would be cool, if you guys could also mention with which anime you guys grew up with.
Kirei vs Kiritsugu is one of my favourite fights of all time because of all the build up to it and you get a satisfying conclusion.
HF3 final fight will easily become my favorite fight in the franchise and all anime unless ufotable somehow screws it up.
I was just about to comment this one. I also like the first Saber vs Lancer fight.
I didn't see it mentioned yet so I'll comment the Homura vs Mami fight too from the 3rd movie Rebellion of Madoka Magica. That one was nice too.
There’s this one segment where they fight close combat and try to shoot each other but each of them kept parrying the other person’s gun. It’s only about 15 seconds, but I love it to bits. The whole fight scene is awesome, of course, but I think I rewatched that specific scene 10+ times.
Oh, I love that part too. It looked so epic. I believe it's called gun kata.
Mumen Rider vs Sea King.
No, I'm not joking. It's amazing.
Even thinking about this scene gives me chills. Easily my favorite part of OPM. Mumen Rider is the man!
Netero vs Meruem
Seeing the number of upvotes you have ig I'll be downvoted to oblivion but honestly that was the most boring fight in the whole palace invasion. It was hyped up to such an insane degree but literally nothing happens in the entire fight.
That arc alone I believe should claim something like 4 out of the top 5.
Just unreal.
Nanashi vs Luo-Lang from Sword of the Stranger, is the best fight scene.
Joe vs Rikiishi from Ashita no Joe, for best buildup to a fight.
I'm bringing back the oldest anime discussion in the books: the greatest anime fight ever. Comment which is your favourite fight and discuss other's opinions. I'll leave some examples just for inspiration.
For me it is (and always will be) Levi vs Beast Titan
Inspiration list:
Let me hear what you think!
Those are a lot of fights lol
For me, these are the fights, that I can think of the top of my head, that stood out to me (in terms of Visuals, Soundtrack, and emotions) and constantly rewatched.
Kirito vs. Subtiliser (SAO WoUW 2)
Salter vs. Hercules (F/SN HF 2)
Quetzalcoatl vs. Tiamat (F/GO Babylonia)
Asuna vs. PoH (SAO WoUW 2)
Ushiwakamaru vs. Gorgon (F/GO Babylonia)
Oda vs. Gide (Bungo Stray Dogs 2)
Kirei vs. Kiritsugu (Fate/Zero)
Karna vs. Seig (Fate/Apocrypha)
Homura vs Mami (Madoka Magica : Rebellion)
Deku vs. Todoroki (MHA 2)
Yes someone mention ushi
Who could forget that, man ? It probably has the longest continuous shot in anime fights. (Went for over 40 seconds, IIRC). Was just breathtaking to watch.
Gaara vs Rock Lee
Why is your favorite?
Because Lee was just a weirdo schmuck who looked progressively more and more of a badass as the fight went on. Also it was kind of the first time we saw just how high the power scale could go. Up to that point we only saw that sort of stuff from Naruto when he's possessed, so seeing it from a regular dude was nuts.
Araragi vs Kiss shot
Hiroshi Kamiya ❤️
Metapod VS Metapod
Amazing fight
This variety in this list is absolutely superb!
But it will always be Itachi vs Sasuke for me, the plot twists in that fight had me screaming.
One of the best by far
What do you think? it should have a good build up, good ost, good animation and chereography mob psycho for me has the best fights and the closest one for me to it is naruto
Saber vs Rider in Fate Heaven's Feel
I go back to look at it from time to time and i always end up with chills all over my body.
That fight represents every problem with Ufotable's adaptations. Stop treating it like the second coming of Christ.
I read the visual novel a few years ago and i enjoyed it but you can't really compare an anime fight scene to a visual novel.
The problem with adapting Fate is that you can't adapt 10 minutes of Shirou's internal monologues mid fight unless it's very important to the plot like the battle between him and Archer in UBW. Ufotable is imo the best studio around when it comes to visual and choreography in the fights but to achieve this they inevitably have to cut some dialogues.
This can be sometimes a bad thing like in Shirou vs Kirei at the end of HF, but other times it can be great like in Saber Alter vs Berserker that wasn't even considered a "main" fight in the visual novel. Imo Saber vs Rider was a great adaptation that went full budget on the fight without cutting anything that would have been impactful on the overall understanding of the plot.
Saber vs Berzerker in HFII
I mean. Them movies have fuckin' agood fites
Saber vs Rider (Fate)
That fight represents every problem with Ufotable's adaptations. Stop treating it like the second coming of Christ.
Maybe ufotable selects which manga to adopt into anime based on fighting criteria !? I don't know why but every anime made by ufotable is great... and i am not worshiping anime studio , by logic of fighting= great anime , one piece shouldn't deserve top 3 place
Mami vs Homura from pmmm rebellion
Kiritsugu vs Kirei from fate zero
Zuko vs Azula + Aang vs Ozai
Last Naruto vs Sasuke fight
I know people don't like BNHA nowadays,
but damn All Might vs All for One is literally part of my core memory now, and it's like 3 ~ 4 punches lmao.
I like it as it is, but I would have loved it if [BNHA] >!All Might actually used all of his power. Leaving just a little bit felt like a weird half measure and didn't hit as hard!<
I think the current season has made all the mha fans love it again. Kicks ass
Silva & Zeno vs Chrollo was f***ing siiiicckkkkk
Intelligence wise, Light vs L is unmatched in all of anime.
I was re-watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and I was mesmerized by just how good and well animated the fight scenes are, so much better than other so called battle Shonen Anime. So that got me thinking, what's the best animated fight scene in Anime? Thoughts?
Naruto vs sasuke (final fight)
Obito vs kakashi
The boruto fight
Actually naruto in general has the best fight choreography and I think hand to hand combat is just better looking and just works better in animation and it manages to drag me more into the fights.
Kiritsugu vs Kirei
Araragi vs Kiss-shot
Saitama vs Boros
Netero vs Meruem
Usopp vs Luffy
Asuka vs eva series
Sword of the stranger final fight
Spike vs Vincent
Spike vs Vincent is my #1 for sure. The amount of work put into it was absolutely insane and an epic conclusion to a great film.
Because this list has pretty much everything I'd say, I'll add this:
Gon vs Hisoka
I'm wondering how they are going to top Saitama vs Boros in the next season of OPM.
Fate stay night UBW fights are good too like Gilgamesh vs hercules
Lancer vs Heaven's Feel Spoilers was damn fantastic.
My favorites from Zero are always gonna be the Saber/Lancer duels. Old school medieval chivalry at its finest.
Kakashi vs. Obito, Naruto/Sasuke vs. Momoshiki. Homura vs. Mami (Rebellion).
Sword of the Stranger's final duel still takes the cake for me. Pretty much anything Yutaka Nakamura is fantastic.
Man when he I got freaking chills and my throat tightened. Straight masterpiece
Unpopular opinion but the fight itself wasn’t that great to me. Between the constant running and ridiculous speed of the attacks (which would make sense but makes it hard to follow the action) I found the fight to be not necessarily boring but hard to fully invest in.
Now the music on the other hand. Holy shit was that soundtrack epic!
I hope more studios try but it just doesn't seem likely anyone tops it for now at least. Definitely nakamura's masterpiece.
Best written? Most of the Jojo fights ig... Jotaro VS Dio and Josuke VS kira would be my top pics.
Josuke vs kira is in my opinion not only the best fight in all of jojo but also one of the best fight in any manga. It does help that the characters involved are my two favourite characters in jojo.
Josuke Vs Kira works so well because most of the prefight set-up is really fucking stellar and Josuke even managing to show up to beat Kira feels like an achievement, the bites the dust arc went hard.
Literally what is wel written about that in jjba mc always fights the antagonist there no writing to that just the repeatable plot that jjba has
doppio vs Metallica was so fucking good
Archer vs. Shirou Emiya in Fate: Unlimited Blade Works.
kirei vs shirou in the vn is on par too.
Best me to it
Meurem vs netero. Goku vs majin vegeta (DB is so underated in this sub 😭). Edward vs father.
Scp vs powerscailing. Powerscailing vs tiktok. Tiktok vs writing scailing.
not anime
Who cares, anime and manga might as wrll be the same damn coin in this discussion
My top 4 are:
Yusuke vs. Yomi (Yu Yu Hakusho)
Goku, Frieza, Android 17 vs. Jiren (Dragon Ball Super)
Kakashi vs. Obito (Naruto)
All Might vs. All For One (My Hero Academia)
>!Deku, Bakugo, Endeavor vs. Shigaraki!< (My Hero Academia Manga)
What are yours?
Favorite of all-time: Edward Elric Vs Father (FMA: Brotherhood)
Favorite recent fight: Executioner Vs Brawler (Akudama Drive)
Not gonna lie the brawler fight might be my new all-time favorite
Salter vs Rider (FSN:Heaven's Feel 3)
Boros vs Saitama (OPM)
Siegfried vs Karna (Fate:Apocrypha)
Kallen vs Luciano (Guren SEITEN vs Percival) (Code Geass S2)
Final Fight (Tekkadan vs Gjallarhorn) (Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans S2)
Barbatos vs Hashmal (Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans S2)
Galaxy Fight (Gurren Lagann Movie 2)
Omnimon vs Diablomon (Digimon: The Movie, yeah the American one)
Sieg be karna was just too good. Incredible fight
Forreal. Just a shame Siege had some thick ass plot armor. Just spamming Balmung and Karna out here doing devil may cry combos
I don’t watch a lot of action anime, but I absolutely loved these fights
Evangelion- Asuka vs mass production evas: the choreography was amazing and the intensity of the clock running down while she takes them down one by one was on another level! (also that scream gives me chills every time!)
Naruto- Rock Lee vs Gaara: that shit was insane! Also it gave Rock Lee, a character I wouldn’t have cared about otherwise, such a great story.
Kill la Kill- every fight in the show was incredibly animated and fluid, but the fights between Ryuko and Satsuki/The Elite Four were probably my favorites.
Toradora!- Taiga vs Sumire: the fight was short, but action packed, and it brought a ton of plot points together perfectly.
Reincarnated as a Slime- Idk most these fights were just kinda hilarious to me, especially Geld vs Shogo, the dude didn’t stand a chance.
Hard agree with Kill la Kill, every fight in that show is so incredibly hype, and the music just makes it even better.
Taiga v Sumire top notch battle
MAI BESTO FRIENDO
I see you are a man of culture as well
First season last alien boss.
Saitama Vs Boros.
This fight looks so cool, despite being the definition of a one sided matchup
That's a nickname for Saber Alter that's been around in the Nasuverse community for several years longer than her very first anime appearance.
For me I gotta give it to Rider v. Saber alt in F/SN HF, from animation, to sound design, to choreography, the whole fight is stunning.
Probably the most unique fight I’ve seen in an anime, defiantly deserves your top spot!
I completely agree with Rider vs Salter being best fight scene. Salter vs Berserker was also an amazing one, the music really sold it.
I have to give an honorable mention to Shirou vs Gilgamesh tho. Most fight scenes I see, I just sit in silence and admire the animation. But for Shirou vs. Gil, I was actively shouting and cheering for Shirou. The remixed Emiya theme didn't help in stopping the hype train either.
Honestly all of Mob Psycho fights are great. I can't think of one from memory that I didn't enjoy. Bones knocked it out of the park with Mob.
And obligatory One Punch Man, Saitama vs Boros.
My personal favorite fight in anime history is the massive group battle in Hugtto Precure where every single Precure in the history of the Pretty Cure franchise (up to that point) teamed together to defeat Dr. Traum. It's crazy that a fight that has 50+ participants involved and that lasts less than a single episode still manages to give each individual participant a cool moment to show off, plus the animation gets pretty crazy.
Some of my other honorable mentions include:
Gurren Lagann vs. The Anti-Spiral - Gurren Lagann
Shichika vs. Sabi - Katanagatari
S.O.N.G. vs. The Cocoon of God - Symphogear XV
Cure Moonlight vs. Dark Precure - Heartcatch Precure
Cure Flora vs. Close - Go Princess Precure
Homura vs. Mami - Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion
Madoka, Homura, & Sayaka vs. Patricia - Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story
Asta & Yuno vs. Licht - Black Clover
Asta & Yami vs. Dante - Black Clover
Joseph vs. Kars - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency
Jotaro vs. Dio - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders
...how did I forget Gurren Lagann?! Or Promare, fir that matter. But yeah, those two are my favorite anime movies with The Lights in the Sky are Stars' final bout overtaking Promare fir my fave. Primate's first fight us my fav in the series. I love fun first fights like that and MHA's Young Might fight.
Meruem vs. Netero always stands out in my memory.
Great choice! I was going to say that I'm leaning towards Youpi vs everyone
Homura vs Walpurgisnacht. Everything about that scene was perfect.
Have you seen Homura vs Mami from the Rebellion movie? The emotions in that fight were even more and the animation of that fight was just top-notch.
Homura vs Mami I also prefer more. That fight was…. ballistic
I have and there's a reason I didn't mention it
https://i.redd.it/hc5wz1xxdo9f1.gif
Shunsui wouldve been cooked if he didnt fight dirty
Fern vs Lugner
She just found her Senpai.
This was my best anime fight scene for a good while. I from rewatch it sometimes.
best anime fights ever
