TL;DR The B-01 Tactical armor is widely praised for its balance of durability and mobility, making it a favorite among players. Customization options and passive abilities are also key considerations.
B-01 Tactical Armor
The B-01 Tactical armor is frequently mentioned as one of the best choices due to its combination of medium speed and heavy armor rating [2:3]. Players appreciate its classic look and effective passive abilities that enhance gameplay without compromising mobility
[5:2]. This armor is often chosen for its versatility across different missions and challenges
[5:3].
Customization and Passive Abilities
Many players express a desire for more customization options, such as interchangeable passives and visual modifications [1:3]
[2:8]. The ability to select armor based on desired perks rather than fixed attributes would allow for greater personalization and strategic flexibility
[2:10]. Some suggest implementing a system similar to weapon customization, where armor pieces can be tailored to fit individual playstyles
[2:12].
Armor Combos and Aesthetic Preferences
Players enjoy combining different armor pieces to create unique looks and optimize performance. Popular combinations include the Admirals Helmet with Veteran body armor and Commando cape [3:1], or the Demolitionist head with Assault body and Woodland cape
[3:3]. These combinations reflect personal style preferences while maintaining effectiveness in combat scenarios.
OG Helldiver Armor
The original Helldiver armor remains a favorite for its aesthetic appeal and balanced attributes [5:9]. It offers the defense of heavy armor without the typical drawbacks, making it a reliable choice for many players
[5:7]. Additionally, the cultural significance of the Helldiver armor adds to its allure, as players compare it to iconic designs like ODST
[5:8].
Considerations Beyond the Discussions
While these discussions highlight popular choices and preferences, it's important to consider your own playstyle and mission requirements when selecting armor. Experimenting with different combinations and passives can help you find the setup that best suits your needs in Helldivers 2.
The 3 base armor should have the possibility to apply any Effects you have already unlocked with others armors
I wish you could just select body armor and if it’s light/medium/heavy and put any perk on it from the same armor class. Simple and no need for transmog.
Siege ready for example you’d still have to purchase the warbond but didn’t have to have urban camo and could just put siege ready on an already existing armor that contains fortify but it would remove fortify. Simple.
They did weapon customization they could totally do this. Fashion end game is my thing and I don’t necessarily want peak physique with my arms exposed or be forced to use the medium version due to dripology.
They should make passives interchangeable
We'll let you out when you get the message
Blah blah apple favoured orange blah blah.
I love diving in the regular helldiver armor! The buff to defense that makes it equivalent to heavy armor without the movement penalty is awesome. My GT is ODST Cobra and has been for a long time so Tuesday I’ll have to use the new ODST armor for a bit but I have a feeling I’ll eventually end up with the OG set. I feel like it’s saved my bacon more times than I can count. I drop 10’s without dying pretty frequently but it’s not cause I don’t get hit / swarmed, it’s cause I’m pretty tanky and mobile thanks to the standard armor.
Medium extra padding is a goated armour, you can't go wrong with it. Extra durability is always nice to have
The extra padding slander I’ve seen on Reddit is treasonous and IMO it’s the best passive on D10 bots. The speed of medium with the armor rating of heavy has saved me more times than I can count.
Once you get over the fact that the B-01 Tactical is the basic “cadet” armor you realize it is the best drip with the best passive in the game. I’ve come full circle and now have a hard time not running it. Only time I take it off is to use the Engineering Kit armor with the HMG and even then I wear the B-01 Tactical helmet.
I run with B-01 Tactical at level 86 lmao, I have all warbonds and such, but that armor is just a classic. I love it.
Also known as the best heavy armour.
Is there an armor rating difference between the armors that only give armor rating increase versus the one that does a higher armor rating plus the ping scans?
https://helldivers.wiki.gg/wiki/Damage there is quite a difference between them
I'd settle for palette swapping. I've already set all my guns to the "Helldiver" paint job (except the Knight), and am very pleased by that. If I could repaint my Engineering Kit armor to match the uniform standard I'd be delighted. Ground Breaker is good enough for medium, but I want a light engineer set that didn't make me look like I just stepped out of Voltron.
as a botdiver,i would KILL for Helldiver-pallette Enforcer armor
or just make armor customizations where we can also customize our helmets by adding different perks like gas filters
I'd imagine with armor customizations every problem I have would be solved. They already have the bits and bobs in a customization editor like they do with the guns on the dev side. Just give us the options for the leg armor shin armor, shoulders arms hands etc.
Each Warbond could still offer the armor, but unlock the armor pieces, pouches, attachments and the passive that would let us continue the same formula.
Tie suits to materials and colors, and you got a method that wont wear down the AH Team. I know armor development is time consuming and they need to stretch what they release somehow to make it to the next release. Do you know how absolutely crazy the community would go for the option to have symmetrical (or nonsymmetrical for all you deviants) shoulders or leg guards?!?
I honestly would rather have it that you could have the drip you want and the passive you want. Wouldn't really change anything I don't think cause you only get each from the Warbonds. It'd be like Cyberpunks old armor system kinda
Honestly I'd love it if they let you pick passives regardless of armor. Or have like, passive points so you can build a bitch.
Like +2 throwables costs 3 points, +2 stims costs three points, reduced recoil is two points,
and you get like five points total or something. idk.
Next gen helm For the clean look
admiral suit For the high collar and shoulder pads
drop-school cape For the shorter cape for manoeuvrability
Demolitionist head
Assault body
Woodland cape
I’ve sported this look for years... to the point where my couch coop allies insist it is “me” and won’t let me change it.
I don't see the volcanic set?
The Assault armour isn't there either.
I don't see mine here, so I disagree
Admirals Helmet: I like it and it looks great in-game.
Veteran body armor: to make sure I remember why are we fighting for.
Commando cape: the best cape IMO, the three yellow stripes makes it easy to identify your Helldiver.
The cinderblock armor is just 👌
Someone like this so I can come back later and drop some Helldrip on you guys?
“GET OVER HERE”
Response. Come back
This outfit is my illuminate vibe checker.
My current go-to gear, with the "Fallen Hero's Vengeance" Cape.
The OG B-01 armour actually holds up even in the late stage helldivings. I still wear that armour once in a while while diving.
Plus the look is second to none. I'll wear different armor when I need different passives, but if I'm not using a build that specifically calls for melee damage or fire resistance or recoil mitigation, I'm wearing B-01 Tactical armor.
I try to stick close to the uniform standard when I can. Ground Breaker is my preferred Engineering Kit armor, and if I'm going scout, I'll sacrifice a little mobility to wear Infiltrator instead of Trailblazer.
That armour is my go-to for the bots
Bloodhound probably my favourite armour currently but I'm not a fan of the leather pads on the shoulders. Will probably move to recon on the 26th.
That's why Arrowhead are being selective about their crossovers, because as they've said any crossovers that do occur become canon to Helldivers.
For example, with this upcoming one they've redefined ODST to mean Obedient Democracy Support Troopers, and they've changed some of the iconography on the weapons with Helldivers variations (such as the Helldivers skull being added to the compass on the MA5C and the magazine on the M6C/SOCOM.)
That being said, I do feel like they could lean into this a bit more with additional armour designs that combine elements from the crossover material with standard Helldivers equipment (for example, helmets that incorporate the filtration/mask system seen on the AC-1 Dutiful helmet), or allowing the crossover weapons to be customized (even if it's just with weapon patterns).
It's hard to beat having the durability of heavy/medium armor with the speed and stamina of medium/light armor
Or being like a walking wailing Kevlar golem with that one armor set
Helldivers easily has the level of cultural cachet to be considered in the same league as ODST at this point
it's just heavy armor without any of the drawbacks
You’ll never catch me outside of my B-08 Light Gunner armor.
im sorry but odst drip beats it out, bo1 goes hard but i cant get past how dope odst armor is
Unflinching comes close now that it gives 25 extra armour
I'd love Mk. 2 versions of all the Helldivers Mobilize armors. Just some small to medium changes or additions. Like it would be fun to have the tunic be torn up, or add prosthetic limbs. Heck, even just some wear and tear, cracked visor, scratches, etc. would look great.
There's actually kind of a spectrum between them. Sometimes I'll run a heavier light armor or the 100 armor light armor.
Medium but largely because I play bots 90% of the time so I'm running less. When fighting bugs, light armor usually makes more sense. If I forget to switch armor to light for bugs, I usually wish I had more speed.
Light scout armour
Speed, ability to avoid enemies by stealth more easily and radar on waypoint to plan assaults
Hard for me to change after that
For real.
You can also basically run and survive any encounter.
Ground Breaker all the way.
Whatever I feel looks good in the moment. Fashion Divers Unite.
Your placement for savior of the free is insulting lol.
The helmet may be tacky but the Armor and cape go better with the Champion of the Federation helmet than its own armor does.
Best looking combo in the game period.
I simply just hate the saviour of the free armor. Everything about it is just not what I like. For me, it's just a worse version of the champion of the federation armor, and then adding the dumb helmet? terrible.
Agreed, I run Saviour and cape with the Champion helmet for bugs every time
Ouch. You did:
Savior of the free
Drone master
Steel trooper
Devastator
All dirty.
Hate everything about the savior of the free.
Love the drone master helmet, my favorite in the game, but the set does not go well together.
Steel trooper is alright, the helmet I love alot, but the armor I just feel is a worse version of the dynamo armor.
Devastator is despised by me with a passion. I hate the big goofy chin guard, it looks stupid. The helmet is alright.
Can't believe you'd do devastator so dirty. Big goofy chin guard is peak, plus it makes sense considering its use
Arctic ranger has such a cool visor slot and even if the armor is just mostly reskinned trailblazer scout armor, it is exceptionally cool looking and fun to run around in.
Devastator has a dorky looking flap that sticks out.
The main problem with it is color scheme, the colors just match in the worst way possible. If blue was a bit lighter or brown a bit dimmer it would be fine. But now it is perfectly designed to be the shittiest combo ever.
No Devastator slander is tolerated though. This is the best heavy armor that looks protected. The whole point of my boy is to be chunky.
I think mixing armors in general is a good policy, but at least half the armors I think are suitable on their own. Some of the armors placed in "mix with others" are fine on their own, but are just so much better with other sets. Legionnaire armor with drone master helm is my current set.
I love the medic armors but I hate how they all look. Some tactical Gumby looking shit.
Straight up power rangers with that teal. I wish it wasn't teal. Love white armor, but why teal?
I mean yeah, it kinda gives surgeon vibes, but I think white and red would fit an on the field medic much more (and it would look 100 times better in my opinion)
The helmet is lit, like LIT. How could u hate it
This is reposted from r/Helldivers (please dont kill me Rule 3) , and I was reposting it here because the middle and right armor look so dope. I don't care what passive you put on it, I would KILL for something like it.
That Heavy armor is perfection. I love the colors as well.
That middle armor goes so freaking hard.
He a thicc boi
real af
God I hope we get some old or repurposed SEAF gear
I would 100% rock the armor the dude on the right and the guy in the center are wearing
In case you're unaware, EPG-6 on YouTube did the SEAF designs and used them in this funny short.
The test for them and others is here.
Some terrific Helldivers content can be found on that channel.
Obviously, all armour types have their own advantages and disadvantages. (Not including Armour Passives)
But typically, what armour do you main? I was running light armour for more manoeuvrability before, but I was getting absolutely fried, especially by Chargers.
I have now switched to heavy armour and have found that to be much more effective for me personally.
How about you guys?
I'm a massive fan of the B-08 Light Gunner armour because it is a light armour so you get the speed and stamina buff but it has the extra armour perk so it's basically medium armour, with 100 armour rating, with a speed and stamina regen bonus
I will definitely keep an eye out for this one. Is it a store or warbond armour set?
I keep constant watch on that store and buy every armor that looks like it could be good. Never know if they will implement FOMO marketing so I'm buying anything good now while we have abundant credits lol
Was in the store like 3 days ago, it does cycle in, it's a burnt redish light armor
I recently got the B-08 and its amazing. I like the extra speed and regen with a bit of extra armor. Its a nice step up from the SE armor, which is great for being newbie friendly until you find your feet and know how to dodge.
Anything with democracy protects on it is great. It helps save you from a lot, makes you feel like you have plot armor, and is pretty drippy too. If there was light armor with it, I wouldn't take it off.
It is also able to give you flying views of the scenery as the 50% chance to survive fatal damage procs when you get orbital strikes, sure your probably dead when you hit the ground and sometimes that can screw your team by launching your samples miles away, but it's still fun.
I'm lvl 50. I either play light armor scout or light armor throw distance
Yeah I tried to switch off from the armor that throws the stratagems 30% further (legionnaire I think) and I can’t go back now. Tried a game last night with the light armor with medium padding and was dogshit with my stratagems.
I run light armor with the scouting passive that gives your tags the ability to scan for enemies and a boost to stealth. I love slipping past a bunch of patrols and outposts and infiltrating automaton fortifications to take out their factories - then making a quick getaway with the jump pack.
The extra padding heavy armor that was in superstore last week
I take that on low level bot missions to sponge damage to help lower level players.
Ballistic shield, super earth flag, viper commando armor. I am the super Spartan.
Peak Physique is my favorite set bonus and works so well with weapons i use.
“THIS IS DEMOCRAAAACYYYYYY!!!!”
My favourite weapon is myself because who else is gonna carry the boats, the logs and the portable Hellbombs?
THEY DON'T KNOW ME SON
All I need is a portable hellbomb, expendable rocket launchers and liberty.
I can guarantee both the mission’s completion and a very high expenditure of democratic resources. Including helldivers.
EXCEPT if you drop a napalm air strike on the nest that i'm about to go clear. i get it, napalm funny, but this isn't Vietnam, you don't need to burn the bugs out of their holes before blowing them to bits
Of course not you do it at the same time Duhhhh Fires and explosions!!!!💥💥🔥🔥
The customer is always right in matters of taste
Best armor in Helldivers 2
Key Considerations for Choosing Armor in Helldivers 2:
Armor Type: Different armor types provide varying levels of protection and mobility. Consider whether you prefer heavier armor for more protection or lighter armor for increased agility.
Special Abilities: Some armor sets come with unique abilities or perks that can enhance your gameplay. Look for armor that complements your playstyle, whether it’s offensive, defensive, or support-oriented.
Customization Options: Check if the armor allows for modifications or upgrades. Customization can help you tailor your armor to better suit your needs as you progress through the game.
Team Synergy: Consider how your armor choice fits within your team composition. Some armor may provide bonuses that benefit teammates, making it essential to coordinate with your squad.
Resource Management: Keep an eye on the resources required to acquire and upgrade armor. Ensure you have a balanced approach to resource allocation between armor and weapons.
Recommendation: While specific armor sets may vary based on updates and patches, generally, look for armor that offers a balance of protection and mobility. For example, if you enjoy a frontline role, consider armor that enhances your survivability while providing offensive capabilities. If you prefer a support role, opt for armor that boosts team performance or provides utility. Always experiment with different sets to find what works best for your playstyle!
