Skims
Skims is frequently mentioned as a top choice for compression and shapewear. Users appreciate its ability to provide a sculpted look without bulkiness, making it suitable for form-fitting outfits [2:1]. The "fits everybody" line offers soft, stretchy fabric with lighter compression, while the seamless sculpt provides more structure and shape
[2:4].
Honeylove
Honeylove is another popular brand for compression wear, praised for its effective belly and hip compression [2:5]. Some models include boning to prevent rolling down, which users find beneficial
[2:12]. However, one user noted that certain Honeylove products might show seams through tight dresses
[2:7].
Spanx
Spanx remains a classic choice for compression garments. It's recommended to try Spanx on in-store due to varying body shapes [2:10]. Many users have found Spanx effective for smoothing through hips and stomach, but emphasize the importance of proper fit and return policies when purchasing online
[2:11].
SheFit
For sports bras, SheFit is highly recommended, especially for high-impact activities like running. It offers adjustable compression, allowing users to customize the fit [5:2]. Clearance styles can be found within budget, making it an accessible option
[5:3].
Brooks
Brooks Drive and Brooks Dare are suggested for those seeking simple compression with comfortable bands. These options provide padding and support, catering to various needs [5:1].
Additional Considerations
When selecting compression athletic wear, consider visiting a store to try different brands and styles, as individual fit can vary significantly. Online purchases should come with a good return policy to accommodate any sizing issues. Additionally, using tools like the ABTF calculator can help ensure accurate sizing for bras [5:10].

Thanks for sharing the link to the full issue! There's a lot of interesting stuff in there worth paging through. I especially liked the article about Family Kingdom's work on retracking Swamp Fox and the celebration of 125 years of the Eli Bridge Company.
I'm always thrilled to see the love for Phoenix and for Knoebels in general. It's also nice to see a couple of my local parks, Storyland and Santa's Village, make appearances on the best family park list after getting some recent additions.
The ads are kind of neat since it's a side of the hobby we don't always get to see but I had to laugh at Skyline's ad for their P'sghetti Bowl coasters using images of the one removed from Fiesta Texas. Good luck.
I'm convinced the people who make this list don't ride rollercoasters.
Wow - Grizzly jumped up to #17? That re-tracking must be making it run like new!
Love Phoenix but always confused why so many GTA voters put it at #1.
Knoebels hosts enthusiasts events and treats the community very well. That’s your answer.
I'm convinced Knobels is paying people off at this point. The Voyage kicks its ass all day.
Have you been on it? The lack of restraints on Phoenix is something that doesn't come through watching a video. I wouldn't say it's my #1 either but I can see how a case can be made.
I mean it's a great ride, video doesn't do it justice. But it ain't the Voyage, or Toro, or Ghostrider...
You literally cannot understand Phoenix from a video. It does it 0 justice. Phoenix is one of the most INSANE and OUT OF CONTROL ride experiences in the world. The restraint leaves you with maybe a foot of room between you and the bar, and every single hill sends you flying in a way that feels dangerous. I've ridden Phoenix, Mystic Timbers, and Voyage, and Phoenix beats both during the day (Voyage at night beats Phoenix by a lot and it's not even close though.)
chiapas regaining best water ride is fantastic. valhalla when* all of the effects work is brilliant, but that asterisk is doing some heavy lifting
You can ride Phoenix 100 times in a row and never be stiff or sore. The airtime and buzzbars make you feel like you're going to plummet to your death. The line always moves quickly. It's never closed or broken down. The bag policy is "throw your shit to the side and sit down." It does all the basics effortlessly
I’ve got prom coming up in a few weeks and my dress is fairly form-fitting around the stomach and hips and I’m planning on finding some shapewear to wear with it. What brands would be best for this? There are so many, so I’m a bit lost. Thanks!
Skims! Divorcing any feelings about Kim, Skims is my favorite for looking snatched. I love the bodysuit, it makes me look soooo perfected and sculpted. It’s so soft and stretchy, but it actually lays flat. It’s a thinner but more powerful fabric, so you don’t feel any bulkiness underneath any delicate fabrics like any form fitting fabric would be for a dress. I also like that there’s an excellent shade range of body colors, so you can wear it over and over once you find your perfect nude.
I’ve tried Spanx and other shapewear brands but I think Skims is the best.
Skims, irrelevant of my feelings of Kim, is phenomenal. The fits everybody line is THE BEST clothing and underwear line I’ve ever tried.
How would you rate the compression level?
It depends on the material/cut you get.
The everyday t shirt bra literally still feels and looks like new and I’ve owned it and worn it religiously for 1.5 years.
The “fits everybody” is the least compression but there is still a little bit of it. I don’t personally prefer low compression, but I think it’s nice for the every day girl who wants to wear something soft but still feel a little bit secure and lifted. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of this on my body because I like a lot of structure and shape to my overall look.
The seamless sculpt and core control lines are intense. You literally will feel so cinched and “controlled”. It can be a little uncomfortable if you’re a beginner to shapewear, but you’ll “learn” that the material is soft so you can move freely in it. I feel very secure eating and drinking liquids in this shapewear. I love the way I look in photos when I wear them. You will look insanely cinched and basically Facetuned irl lol. It gives such an incredible shape and support.
Her website is helpful because it allows you to sort/purchase by support level above the product titles!
Honeylove is awesome!
Second this! I love my honeylove!
I wish I loved Honeylove! The compression on my belly (I have slight diastasis recti) and my hips (I have violin hips) was GREAT. But the shapewear has a seam across the back above my butt that, when I tried to wear a smooth, tight dress, showed through unfortunately. Other than that, I would have loved it.
I had a bad experience with their quality, unfortunately. I was looking for bridal shapewear, so I ordered the SuperPower Short in my normal shapewear size. It's not my first pair of shapewear, but I was looking for something better than I'd had before—I loved the whole crisscross extra-snatched idea. And, to note, I was a few months before my wedding, so I was in better shape and below my usual weight when shopping for shapewear. I just want to emphasize that, because there is absolutely no chance I just ordered way too small a size.
Soooo anyway, I tried the shorts on once, no problem. They didn't seem groundbreaking, but they smoothed me out and fit well. Tried to wear them out a few days later, and one of the legs COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE REST OF THE SHORTS, from the crotch outwards, as I was pulling them on. The seam just catastrophically failed. I hadn't even washed them yet.
I had a great experience with Honeylove, mostly because their shapewear contains boning (at least the model I bought). No more rolling down!
Maidenform is the gold standard for my body—I definitely concur with another poster, though, that you have to try stuff on in Person.
Spanx is classic but the best thing to do is go to a good department store and try things on because everyone’s bodies are shaped differently.
I'm guessing you want the kind that are like shorts that go up to around your bra line right? I think those work best to smooth through the hips and stomach. Spanx have worked the best for me but it really is about your body type. So trying them on or, if they're online-onlt, making sure there's a good return policy is super important. Two other important things I've learned over the years:
Make sure you're putting them on right. Roll up the legs and the top, and go one leg at a time. Make sure your booty is situated properly, then pull the top up and the legs down. This is so important for keeping the top from rolling down during the night! If your butt isn't seated right, then the fabric is pulling towards your butt all night - which means the top rolls down and the legs roll up. Putting your bra on over the top band can help keep it up and smooth your lines as well. The Honeylove ones have boning in them to keep them up, which is great, but that means the fit is less forgiving.
Make sure you get the right size. This is the most important thing. You might think sizing down will enhance the smoothness, but all it will do is be uncomfortable and create that sort of sausage-casing effect. Remember you're going for smoothing, and it's like any underwear - if it's too small it'll create lumps and bulges where there are none and you'll have more visible lines.
I’m talkin head to toe with a GOOD amount of compression everywhere
I want a blood pressure cuff that squeezes my whole leg and foot below the knee. For my neuropathy. Medical grade compression garments just doesn't cut it 😅
I have a reathlete system that does just this! It's not mobile to walk around in. But amazing to recoup the days I overdo it. Little anacondas for each leg 🐍💚
That sounds EXACTLY like what I want! 😯
They put something like this on me before my hysterectomy right before I went under so I wasn’t able to ask about them but have the fleeting memory of just how amazing they felt.
Those are called SCDs. If you type “home scd” in google some products show up in Amazon
I remember seeing the Body Braid and thinking that looked pretty close, but it was too expensive. However, when I feel the most stability is when I wear a wetsuit. That's just not practical to wear on land, but it's made of the same stuff as most joint braces and it can feel good.
fascinating. weird question; what about it makes it impractical? could someone hypothetically wear one with clothes on top? like obviously its a janky solution but honestly my internal mad science brain just lit up.
Wetsuits come in a variety of thicknesses so you could try some on if you have a local place that sells them. You can also get a half suit type that is short sleeves and short shorts legs. There's a good chance you could find one that you'd feel comfortable enough to wear on land at least for a few hours but likely more.
I cant believe most people come with one by default. They call it "normal skin". Insane.
This really just blew my mind. I know you're kind of joking, but... is this what they mean by soft, stretchy skin? Is ours literally just too much of a weenie to give us proper compression?
I've been debating sewing my own body braid since it's all elastic/Velcro and overpriced
Me too. I want a full body compression suit that has adjustable compression for each body part
Thoughts on the different styles/fit/fabrics? How do they hold up? Specific uses (everyday vs athletic activities)?
I have their sports briefs. Very comfortable but a bit small in the front.
Not familiar with this brand. Gonna check it out
I think they are really nice, cool designs/cuts, I'd say their sizing is on the small side.
For me they ran small and felt cheap compared to other brands of similar price. Had no room for the bulge either:/
Came here to say the same thing. They are just too small, I thought about buying a size up but there pricy and not worth the risk when I find other brands fit better.
I pay more for the ones I wear but they fit perfectly
Yes That is what I found ! Way too small and ill fitting for me !!
They're decent. Good material. Fit well. I buy em coz I need an XS and have a pathetically small waist but yeah I'd give them an all round solid rating.
Any specific style you prefer?
And the fit is definitely on the smaller side I'd say.
The briefs and jocks are both good. i own both. The material feels like you're wearing nothing at all.
What material?
I’m searching for a high impact sports bra that is good for running. I wear a 38/40D and my breasts are shallow, so a lot of my bouncing happens up high on my chest. I’m also looking for one with some padding to hide my nips, and I also prefer a bra that provides some compression on my charming little fat roll on my ribs!
I’m hoping to find one in the ~$50 range but that might be too much to wish for. Any leads???
Potentially she fit might work for you? It’s a compression style sports bra. It’s a little too small in the cup for me given the band sizes but maybe if you have. Since you have less exaggerated cup size to band difference it would work better for you. I’m like either a 28JJ or 28K something like that and it means a lot of things are annoying 🙄. Also, is 38/40D your ABTF size, or just a working estimate? The ABTF size takes 6 measurements so it’s much more accurate than a lot of measuring charts out there.
I have tried shefit and I absolutely LOVE IT!! I got 5 more pairs after trying the one. And I like how I can adjust how much I can compress it to chest.
I too love shefit!
I’m curious about shefit. Does the quiz on their website seem accurate in telling you what size to order?
I still had to order two sizes and it wasn’t perfect per say. I had the problem I always have which is: band too large and cups too small. But I think if you are below a UK K cup in whatever your band size it should be okay. I just happen to be a sort of outlier size aka small band large cup : /
OP, here’s a link to the calculator in case you need it! :)
Thanks- I’ve done it many times!
Thanks for the recommendation!!
It’s my ABTF size- I haven’t purchased a new bra in a while so I can’t remember the number exactly and it kind of depends on my weight.
Have to throw in my vote for SheFit. It’s amazing. Clearance styles run about 45.
SheFit. Shop the clearance.
Have you looked at SheFit? They have fuller coverage and really lock the girls in. Full price is above your budget but I recently got a couple discontinued colors at $45/ea.
I think you might like the Brooks Drive or, for more padding, the Brooks Dare. Simple compression that works, with a comfortable band.
On the most recent pod the boys and Andrew talked about satisfy for a sec. I like their stuff but it’s way out of my price range for running shorts and tops. Anyone have some similar looking/vibe recs?
I just hate the generic look of most the normal brands.
I run about 50-70 miles a week all through the year on the east coast for reference for my gear suggestions.
If you’re looking for specifically running I would suggest Tracksmith if Satisfy is out of your range but you still want something stylish. Tracksmith is a little pricey but their stuff is nice as well. I have a lot of Satisfy gear and I can say that it’s some of the best running gear I’ve ever bought, especially the Space-O shorts are probably the best purchase I’ve made in 8 years of running. So if you ever find yourself able to spring for it, I would say do it. Janji is another brand that has some great options, especially for winter months. Merino long sleeves, hoodies, base layers, etc. They even have a layering guide on their website if you want to check it out / need it. As for more common brands, I think Nike makes pretty okay stuff. Nothing crazy, but I like their tights for running in the winter, and I have a couple long sleeve quarter zips that I love a lot. Feetures are my go to socks, nothing complicated but I think they are comfortable and withstand the miles.
I would also suggest checking out Believe in the Run on Instagram, they have been posting some grid style outfit layouts so check to see if anything catches your eye.
Seconding Tracksmith their stuff is niiiiice
Thirding Tracksmith.
Most aesthetic running gear if you’re into the old school ivy New England team vibes.
Amex also has an offer right now, spend $150 get a $30 statement credit or something like that.
I think you first have to categorise whether you're looking for specifically running and training, or whether you want both. Satisfy and Tracksmith are very much running brands so their styles and fabrics and cuts are going to be more tailored to running. Of course that's not to say you can't wear them in the gym, but something to bear in mind.
Satisfy's stuff is nice, albeit a little loud for me. Also, all their fabrics like Auralite, Space-O, Cloud Merino are just trademarked names of off-the-shelf fabrics, so it makes them appear more premium than they are. Don't get me wrong, the fabrics are lovely and the Cloud Merino is a beautiful 100% merino from Japan, but the trademarked names are more of a marketing tool.
Tracksmith for sure is a great bet if you're looking for nice running gear, as is Soar Running based in the UK.
If you want something that does it both, I agree with u/am9123 that Reigning Champ would be my number one option. Great fabrics (Deltapeak) is the same fabric as Satisfy's Auralite for example, and great quality and construction. I know they have the Dot Air training and running short which uses a fabric from Japanese mill Toray, and it's really nice.
Agreed about Satisfy. You’re definitely buying into the brand a culture surrounding their products, but if you’re really looking for something specifically for running I think they do the best at including the correct sized pockets for gels, phone, etc while still being sleek and comfortable. I would probably say their stuff is best suited towards long distance running and trail running. I personally think the shorts are worth the investment, but would struggle to really convince someone to buy anything else if they are a pretty casual runner or just looking for workout clothes in general.
Soar Running, Salomon… but tbh I wouldn’t lean too much into just one brand. Check curated running stores like Distance Athletics for some inspiration
The Nike x Gyakusou stuff is cool
District Vision.
Recently started playing American football at my university and I’m out as trans to everyone. They all see me as a guy, which is really great and all but I still very uncomfortable/dysphoric about my chest.
The sports bra I wear does absolutely nothing in terms of compressing the boys. I double up even but they’re pretty crap (they’re cheap af).
So any recommendations for something that’ll safely flatten me a bit will be very helpful.
I used to wear Under aAmour brand. But I wasn't into sport, I just worn it for binding.
If you have a larger chest the Enell high impact sports bra is great- flattened my 36G chest better than a binder and locked things down tight. I trained for and ran a few half marathons with it before top surgery and passed in a t-shirt before I was out. It’s also super robust and feels more like a piece of sports protective gear than a bra.
For a smaller chest the nike pro combat bras work pretty good. I used those as my daily bra before coming out and they did a decent job but were not enough for my massive chest to eliminate bounce.
If you can get past the exclusionary name, shefit has a great line of high impact sports bras. I like these over others because you can adjust the band and the straps giving you much more freedom of how the bra fits. I'm a horseback rider and let me tell ya, there is absolutely no bounce with this bra on.
Im larger and use a 1x torrid sport bra.
Underworks has a high compression binding sports bra: https://www.underworks.com/extreme-magicotton-sports-and-binding-bra
$35 for a much flatter profile and no bounce. Measure carefully though. I’m a 34D, bought the 34, and I can barely get into it it’s so tight. When I’m doubt, probably size up.
Exactly how it sounds. Recently with getting back into fitness consistency, I figured liking my outfit can help with keeping up motivation. Where is a good place to get matching sets from? Decent price? Brands? Etc. just wanna know your thoughts!
I feel like a broken record, but Old Navy athletic wear is great. Leggings come in different materials, lengths, and compression types AND have pockets. I don’t personally like their sports bras because they tend to be a little stiff and chafe, but everything else is great!
I completely agree on old navy. I’m hard on my athletic wear and I’ve had stuff from old navy for years and years.
Which leggings you you recommend? Power soft or power press? I’ve been seeing a lot of power press with sculpt! Looking for something for HIIT work outs. Thank you so much!
+1. Bought some recently on sale and the leggings have great compression, helpful to avoid shin pain during long runs.
Lululemon. Yes the upfront cost is higher than other brands, but the quality and fit is usually awesome.
Also anytime I have had defective product (zipper broke, seam broke, excessive pulling) they have taken it back and given me a store credit without any hassle. For pants, I’ll always wear lululemon. I’m not as picky about my sports bra or tops so those I’ve found cute things for cheap at Gap Fit
That’s neat about their policy / it reminds me of Patagonia actually they have the worn wear program / defective policy (a bit off topic) but always appreciative. I do have two of their align tops which were worth it but I’m still iffy about their leggings. Perhaps I can look into other pants. They are pricy but sometimes it’s good to spend on things that fit like you want and are durable. It could be a nice treat too. Thank you.
Patagonia is everything Lululemon could never be
Lululemon, Outdoor Voices (though I don't like their signature Texture Compression fabric), and sometimes I just find pieces from discount stores like Marshall's. I actually like the $15 bike shorts I found there better than some more expensive ones I got because they don't ride up. Target's Joy Lab line is very cute (and at one point had some Outdoor Voices dupes lol)
I've been meaning to try Senita, Girlfriend Collective and DYI for matching sets. DYI has some pretty shimmery sets that I've seen some of my peloton instructors wear lol. I have a large bust size so buying matching bras can be tough if they don't have my size.
Thank you for the personalized input too. It helps to hear others especially when checking out a new brand
I also just appreciate that their clothes are made out of recycled water bottles, and are still really great quality and hold up really well against active use and washing
TJ Maxx, most of the basic black leggings have worn like iron. The brands 90 degrees and RBX have been great.
Edit: just saw you specifically asked about matching sets so disregard my advice, sets can be hard to find there 😬
Haha! I love TJX Companies - I actually got the idea of “sets” because I got a pair of spandex shorts which I truly like but could never find anything matching! Still a great place to get staples so thank you for the reminder
Found out a lot of the old compression links are dead / seller lost contact so I did a bit of research for some good quality nike compressions / socks since eric lowk reaching with these compression prices.. lol
i ordered a few of these so I will do a review once I get them along with a D2 gt cut review.

Thanks will be picking up, unsure of sizing but I will go on the larger size since it’s a compression
Warrior compression tees arrived yesterday, and honestly that’s the best piece of fitness apparel I’ve ever worn.
Need another restock so I can get the purple in a medium. Or if they restock the superhero I’ll definitely get that. I hope it still fits great when I go into a cut
I bought this in large and extra large. Put the large on yesterday.. pretty tight but it definitely hugs the body and enhances the physique.
Can’t wait for the Superman drop!
Me too! This is my first YLA purchase, but I’m definitely going to be going for a medium compression top if they’ve got one in the superman drop. I’ll get anything else in a restock lol
What size you get in this ?
Yeah I’m loving the hell out of mines too bro. Mines never slid up while working out either. Could see myself wearing this in and out of the gym. Wish they’d restock the Magical Girl jersey but I’m excited for the Superman collab.
Same bro, can’t wait to cop those Superman ones
You mean dark magician girl jersey?
Yes
Nice bro mine came in last night and I love them
What’s your height and weight?
5’9 175lbs
Best brands for compression athletic wear
Key Considerations for Compression Athletic Wear:
