TL;DR
Popular Brands for Cheer Shoes
Nfinity is a highly recommended brand across multiple discussions. Their models, such as the Nfinity Vengeance, Flyte, and Evolution, are popular choices due to their lightweight design and suitability for indoor cheer [1:2]
[2:2]
[3:1]. Rebel Athletics also offers quality options like the Rebel Ruthless and Revolution, which provide good support and are favored by flyers
[4:1]
[4:4].
Considerations Based on Performance Surface
The choice of cheer shoes can depend significantly on the surface you practice or compete on. For spring floors, lighter shoes like the Nfinity Vengeance are recommended, but they may not offer sufficient support for hard surfaces [4:1]
[4:2]. If practicing on hard floors, shoes with more support, such as Rebel Ruthless or Kaepa Stellarlyte, might be better suited
[4:1]
[4:2].
Cost-Effective Options
For those on a budget, several users suggested looking for second-hand cheer shoes on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or Poshmark [5:1]
[5:5]. Brands like TriXstar and Omni Cheer offer affordable alternatives that are durable enough for non-tumbling teams
[5:3]
[5:4].
Specific Recommendations for Flyers
Flyers often prefer shoes that are lightweight and allow easy grip for bases. The Nfinity Flyte is noted for its thin material, making it easier for bases to hold onto [3:4]. However, for outdoor performances, sturdier shoes like Rebel Ruthless are advisable to avoid wear and tear
[4:1].
Additional Tips
While selecting shoes, consider your position (e.g., base, flyer) and the specific requirements of your team, as some teams may have designated shoe styles [2:4]. It's also important to ensure that the shoes provide adequate arch support, especially for those with flat feet
[3:9].
I have cheerleading tryouts for my school soon and I was wondering what type of shoes should I wear for tryouts. Id would love some recommendations! It doesn’t matter if their cheer specific shoes or not since it’s just for tryouts but I would love to know what shoes you guys recommend!
Cheerleading shoes. I recommend something that supports the ankles;
Nfinities or Rebel Athletics shoes. I use the Rebel evolution shoes and the Nfinity Beasts but those are more expensive than the regular Nfinity vengeance. You can't go wrong with anything from Nfinity, Varsity is a brand a lot of Hs cheerleaders use.
In short brands I recommend:
Varsity Nfinity Rebel Athletics
Tysm!
Idk if you tried out yet but regular tennis shoes are fine. I wouldn’t spend a ton of money on shoes because your team might have a specific pair of shoes they want you to have if you make the team.
Champion is another brand to check out
I wrote an article about a week ago listing the top 5 cheer shoes of 2023
Hope that helps. Good luck at tryouts!

I’m trying my best to find good tight cheer shoes for base/backspot! Any advice is welcome I just want to get the best shoe I can that fits me! I’m a high school cheerleader that is doing lots of stunts and hopefully tumbling this year!
if it's sideline cheer then I suggest going with a shoe made for outdoor wear such as Nfinity rivals or varsity shoes that are made to withstand the outdoors. a lot of cheerleaders complain about how their shoes are falling apart and are dirty yet they're wearing shoes made for competitive cheer, so made sure if you are doing sideline cheer that you buy shoes meant for that. you don't "need" to but it'll save your money.
if it's competitive I'd suggest Nfinity evolution, Nfinity Vengeance, and Nfinity flytes. I liked my Nfinity Beasts too because of the ankle support but I felt it was hard to point my toes in jumps and air positions. I'm big into Nfinity if you couldn't tell
if you're looking for a less expensive option to Nfinity or Varsity, a base on my team who is also a tumbler always recommends her Rebel Athletics Ruthless.
Thank you so much this really helps!
nfinity is where it's at. nike has some good shoes that aren't necessarily cheer. i used the nfinity evolutions for stunt, and the rivals when i was on sideline. avoid the vengeance since you're a back spot. when i initially couldn't afford the nfinitys for sideline, i wore some cute but clunky nike volleyball shoes. you'll want something light but with a good grip!
Thank you so much I’m looking into nfinity right now!
Does your squad not pick the shoes?i
We do but they feel cheap and don’t hold good support and comfort.
Nifinity’s to start off then Rebel. I have Rebel Ruthless ones
I love Nfinity shoes! Varsity is also a good brand! At our gym a lot of people have the Nfinity Flyte shoes and they have held up pretty good for me though I'm not a base, I do a lot of tumbling.
I heard nfinity is really great I was looking into some of them! Thank you!!
My shoes are eleven years old now, so they’re getting a bit worn down and I’ll need new ones soon. They were amazing Nike’s - super durable and good arch support - but it looks like Nike doesn’t make cheer shoes anymore. I don’t know where to start. My coach made us all wear varsity shoes one year and they were TERRIBLE, and my friends that had Nfinitys broke down really fast. Anyone have good recommendations? I’m a flyer so I don’t want anything too chunky.
11 YEARS? i've never heard of cheer shoes lasting that long. i like the nfinity flyte, they're really light weight and it's easy for your bases to get a good grip since the material is so thin.
as long as you take care of your nfinity's (don't wear them outside), they shouldn't break down really fast.
I mean it when I say they’re the best cheer shoes on earth. I only did competitive high school and college cheer and used them for dance classes, never all star cheer, so that might be why they’ve lasted for so long. I think I’ve just been so spoiled by my shoes that I’m afraid to get new ones! That’s good to know about Nfinity’s though. I’m only doing adult cheer once a week now, but we perform on pavement a lot (marches and parades). Would they be good for that?
Sketchers, Reeboks, Nike, are the best cheer shoes imho
no. the flytes and vengence are not good for outside cheer, they tend to get destroyed really fast on pavement. they're really only meant for indoor cheer on mats. i know a girl who uses rebal ruthless for sideline cheer. i don't know how well they held up for her but she was a base/flyer and really liked them
The adidas triple cheer shoes are great - I think they’re a good kid between something flexible like nfinities but they have more use outside of cheer, durable enough to wear to the gym
nfinity vengeance are my go-to
I have varsity Aeros, pretty lightweight, I like them.
Do they have good arch support? That was the problem the one time I had Varsity shoes because I have crazy flat feet. I think they were probably the lower end option though.
I have super flat fleet too. I think they are okay ish but I do have orthotic inserts in them and it works for me!
Nfinity shoes are my go to, my whole cheer team uses them. They're a bit dearer but definitely worth it.
I'm also amazed that your shoes lasted so long!!
I currently wear Nike Air Force 1’s but they are kind of heavy on my feet and it’s harder to do jumps? Any recommendations pls??? 🫶🏼
wow air force ones must be really heavy. i really like either the kaepa stellarlyte or nfinity evolution. the keapa are studier (offer more support but are also slightly heavier) and cheaper. The nfinity are lighter, may offer slightly less support, and are more expensive. i have worn both and loved them and do currently wear the nfinity evolution but have only tried them on spring floor. definitely don’t get the nfinity evolution if it’s not spring floor.
the nfinity evolution or vengeance are the best. vengeance makes it feel like you’re wearing socks so you’re lighter but doesn’t give much support but the evolutions are supportive but a bit heavier.
rebel Revolution or Nfinity beast.
Don’t call me a troll ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nfinity vengeance
It also depends on what floor your practicing on and what position. As a flyer practicing mostly on hard floor, I love my Rebel Ruthless shoes. They are lighter than kaepas but still offer more support than Nfinity vengeance/flyte. If you only practice/compete on spring floor and want the lightest shoe out there then you should go for Nfinity. But if you sometimes practice on hard floor do not pick Nfinity. It’s literally just socks in a shoe package, and it will ruin your knees and joints in the long run.
Hi! I'm on a non-tumble team this year and my team uses black cheer shoes. I can't afford to spend $120 on a new pair of cheer shoes but I need something that won't fall apart a few months in. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
hey doll!! if you don’t want to spend the full price please look on the groups on Facebook, people are always selling black cheer shoes for cheaper (unused & still in the box) Xx
TriXstar shoes are an affordable option. They're an Australian brand that ship to multiple countries. They're quite long-lasting, and a lot of teams seem to be choosing them over the Night Flytes these days.
I'd go to Omni cheer. They have a GK for $62 and a chasse for 45. Since you aren't tumbling, these should be totally fine.
I got a pair of Rebel shoes for my daughter off of poshmark for $25. They're out there! Just look around for lightly used shoes! The quality is worth it.
check facebook marketplace! That’s where I got my backup pair of cheer shoes, and they were nowhere near as expensive as the retail price.
Any one have a good cheer shoe for people with wide feet? I have the varsity charge ones now and they really hurt because they just squeeze my feet so bad. I need white ones
I have pretty wide feet. I find Nfinity most comfortable. I do size up half a size just to get a little extra width but I don't fly or tumble so that doesn't trouble me so much.
Try Varsity brand
My daughter has worn varsity, rebel, and nfinity, and nfinity is by far the most comfortable for wider feet. She likes the flytes the most, but lots of people like other styles.
Nfinity are the best and so comfortable
Cheertastic shoe brand
Nfinity is a good brand. They wide sizes
I don't have this issue so I don't know first hand but I've heard good things about Rebels Ruthless Cheer shoes.
What shoes should I wear to cheer clinics/tryouts this week? I don't own cheer shoes but I have tennis shoes but what would be the best? These are a few I have that I'm considering
Definitely the first. As a coach going through tryouts right now, I wouldn’t even notice they weren’t cheer shoes right away. The others would stick out to me
Try them out. See if you can jump, tumble, and move in them without pain or other problems. I feel like the first one would be the best option, but it depends on comfort.
If there's any chance you may fly, DO NOT wear the shoes in the second or third photo. Those little holes are a great way to break a base's finger.
Ones with the smoothest bottom would be best, particularly if you may fly. Color really isn’t important.
If you're a flyer use the flattest shoes you have. If not, whatever you are most comfortable in doing jumps/tumbling..
Any cheer shoes you would recommend? I'm a flyer and I don't do tumbling. I also have a narrow foot so I'm a little worried that if I get the right length it might be too wide. My insole is 22cm but I don't know how wide any of the shoes are. Please help a girl out.
Nfinity Flytes are a great flyer shoe (coming from a base)! I would say they work very well for narrow feet.
Rebel and nfinity are like the best options. Little pricey but last years and are perfect for cheer
My daughter is a flyer, teeny tiny for her age with narrow feet. She wears nfinity
No limit vro is always my first choice
Stay away from nfinity. At this point they're a gimmick. The flutes are possibly the worst I've worn
If you're on a budget, try the Ion shoes from Omnicheer, they run narrow. I do recommend going up a half to a full size as, like most cheer shoes, they run small.
I’ve got an absolute marathon State Championship weekend coming up and I need better shoes! Looking at 9+ hours per day of standing on basketball court floors - my back and feet can barely survive half that. I tried one type of On Clouds (Cloud X 4 AD) but they were clearly the wrong ones cause my feet were killing me after 2 hours - worse than when I wore my bought-on-sale Adidas! So if you have a pair of coaching shoes that you absolutely swear by and couldn’t live without, please let me know!!
Hmmm I always use ChatGPT when in doubt.
Love Brooks. Personally I like a balance of stability and comfort (Hokas and others like it have too much padding in my opinion) so Brooks running shoes are a great rec for me. Either way 9+ hours of coaching is brutal, stay hydrated and get off your feet as much as possible!!
So recently, I've gotten into a fair number of heated arguments with my teammates over what the best shoe is.
Some of them are saying aggressors, some are going inflicts, my coach, is saying rulon's, and this one kid said JB's. So, to end these arguments once and for all, I'll be resorting to Reddit of all places.
What shoe is best in each 5 of these characteristics?
Durability
Grip
Feel
Looks
Overall Performance
Durability - Matflex
Grip - Aggressor
Feel - EX-EO
Looks - Spartan Combat Yianni’s
Overall Performance - black Nike SpeedSweep, and here’s why: if you step onto the mat wearing those, you have already mentally broken your opponent. They’ve got you pegged as a complete psychopath who would rather be out there barefoot. Nothing they do can weaken you mentally since you’ve demonstrated that you have the temperament of a brick.
Great list!
… except for the Yiannis. 🤮
I have a soft spot for purple & gold shoes. They can be hard to come by.
I liked ASICS as they fit better for my wide foot. And it had to be split sole.
Adidas and Nikes always ran narrow for me. Best you can do is order online from Amazon for easy returns to try different ones on. Went to Academy to get some for my son and they only had 2 different styles to pick from.
Correct Answer: you’re all idiots if you’re getting into heated arguments over shoes. I don’t understand the new focus on shoes amongst my wrestlers. They are basically a fashion accessory… they’re all basically the same when it comes to performance. I have over a dozen pairs that I’ve received for free. Some I like better than others, but when it comes down to whether or not they make any difference in a match the answer is absolutely not.
Probably mostly right, but there is something to say for the difference between a Combat Speed and a shoe like Rulons/Aggressors. Do you want to slide while on the edge of your soles or pressure in? I guess it depends on the person, their skill level, and wrestling style. 9 out of 10 out of time, it wont matter.
Yes and no. Some of it comes down to preference, some like a lot of grip some like a split sole, some like a light weight shoe. When it comes down to it it’s preference. I was always someone that wanted a shoe that could breath well so my feet didn’t feel hot.
Now when it comes to color ways and such I agree with you, but finding a shoe that fits your foot and your needs well is something that is helpful.
Examples include, not feeling like you have bricks on your feet, high ankle support, good grip, etc
Go for Kivaj-KB22 if you are looking for something new, lightweight.
Anything from Nike, ASICS, or Adidas is more than good enough. It just comes down to personal preference and fit after that. I personally prefer Adidas because I like the feel and the look, and they run killer sales from time to time. Just on looks though, I think the ASICS neon yellow split elite is on top right now, followed by a well done Ex-Eo colorway.
Anything from the wrestling only brands is going to be over priced and lacking in quality assurance/control.
Best cheerleading shoes for competitions
Key Considerations for Cheerleading Shoes:
Lightweight Design: Look for shoes that are lightweight to enhance agility and performance during routines.
Support and Cushioning: Choose shoes with good arch support and cushioning to protect your feet during jumps and stunts.
Grip and Traction: A non-slip outsole is essential for maintaining grip on various surfaces, especially during high-energy performances.
Flexibility: Shoes should allow for natural foot movement, providing flexibility for jumps and tumbling.
Durability: Opt for shoes made from high-quality materials that can withstand the wear and tear of competitions and practices.
Style and Color: Many teams have specific color requirements, so ensure the shoes match your team's uniform.
Recommended Options:
Nike Cheer Unite: Known for their lightweight design, excellent grip, and stylish look, these shoes are a favorite among cheerleaders.
Asics Gel-Excite: Offers great cushioning and support, making them suitable for both practice and competition.
Nfinity Vengeance: Specifically designed for cheerleading, these shoes provide excellent support, flexibility, and a sleek design.
Chassé Cheer Shoes: A more budget-friendly option that still offers good support and traction for cheer routines.
