TL;DR
Bread and Butter Combos
In Tekken 8, mastering a few reliable "bread and butter" combos is essential. These are the combos you can consistently execute in various situations. One user emphasized learning a combo that ends with launching your opponent high and away, optimizing for wall hits when possible [1:1]. This strategy allows you to capitalize on additional wall damage, which is crucial in competitive play.
Practical vs. Flashy Combos
While flashy combos may look impressive, they often require precise execution and are not always practical in real match scenarios. It's recommended to start with simple, effective combos that you can pull off under pressure. For instance, one user suggested focusing on combos that begin with a stun move, ensuring follow-up attacks land successfully [3:1]. As you become more comfortable, you can experiment with more complex sequences.
Combo Resources and Community Contributions
For players looking to expand their repertoire, community-driven resources can be invaluable. Websites and databases where players contribute and rank combos based on effectiveness and popularity can provide insights into optimal strategies [2]. Engaging with these platforms can help you discover new techniques and refine your existing skills.
Training and Practice
Spending time in practice mode is crucial for mastering combos. Allocate dedicated time to practice each sequence until it becomes second nature. One user advised spending 10-20 minutes focused on a single combo to build muscle memory and confidence [4:1]. Regular practice ensures that you can execute combos smoothly during matches without hesitation.
Community and Competitive Insights
Watching compilations from tournaments like EVO can offer inspiration and showcase the latest meta trends. These videos highlight effective combos used by top players and can serve as a learning tool for up-and-coming competitors [5]. By analyzing these performances, you can adapt successful strategies and incorporate them into your own gameplay.
smooth jin combo
Way too much effort bro. You could do more damage doing a quarter of these inputs.
But GG for labbing, hope you'll crush those early ranks
😂🤣🤣
Why?
Learn a bread and butter combo that ends with you hitting your opponent high and away. The combo optimization game of tekken is that you want to get your opponent to hit a wall when one is in reach. Afterwards you can get more damage with a wall combo.
Hello, I’m a developer who plays Tekken!
I created a small website because I wanted Tekken-related information, like combos and patterns, to be better organized and easily shared among players.
Right now, the site only has features for frame data and a combo database. The combo database allows users to submit combos, and it ranks them based on how many times they’ve been shared. This way, you can see the most optimal combos ranked by popularity. The system is fully developed, but the data itself needs to be filled in by the community. 😊
Since not all character data has been added yet, the features are currently available for only some characters. If you have a moment, I’d really appreciate it if you could help by submitting some combo data!

Hope you have a great time playing Tekken today! 🎮✨

I added a few combos. If you haven’t already could you put in an option to replace a move?
So here's the thing. I know I can go to any YT vid for demos of the combos themselves, that I should probably train them in practice tool. Problem is I'm overwhelmed. There's just too many, half of them require flash, so I don't get to see any moments in my game where I thing "Oh yes I should try this here".
So here's my plead for the sacred blind monkeys in here. I I had to start with just one combos to perfect and focus on every game. Maybe a few others after I master the first one?
just learn how to land your q after a kick, R+Flash and insec with a ward hop. The other fancy combos are really fun to pull off, but pretty impractical 99% of the time
It's really not that deep, the only genuinely complicated thing on lee is the "real" insec with the ward jump behind the enemy mid-q.
you only need the practical ones to start with, if you start with R on any opponent they are stunned during the kick so you can always ensure you hit Q while they are flying away. The other combo is just to Q to them and W hop behind them and then kick. all the other flashy ones are for clips most people just use the guaranteed ones.
Anybody got some combos that are staples in their fighting style?
A lot of people answered with a variation on the combo I'll suggest, the basic combo IMO that you must have on automatic is:
Crotch punch/Duck strike + Palm strike + chasing trip + sweep + ground pound.
This is a punishing combo that does a lot of dmg, let's you relocate, and in cases of big crowds don't do the continuation after ctk so the enemy is left on the floor.
Once you know this combo you can use many variations of this, but this combo and specifically palm strike + chasing kick/fists combo is the most inportant in the game to have on automatic, it's a must
Is Duck strike that focused attack?
Duck strike is when you hold light attack, it does an elbow to the stomach. This combo I am talking about is actually a great punish after the focus attack I think you are talking about(eye strike)
My big go-to is:
duck strike > palm strike > chasing trip kick > sweep > flowing claw > backwards sweep.
best crowd control combo
For yang I tend to use crotchpunch > push > chasing strikes > invert throw
He lets you push after crotchpunch?!
If ur punishing him yeah you can even hit heavy heavy push chasing strikes
My bread and butter is parry -> shove (forget the real name but the one where you hit and they stumble back) -> chasing trip kick, really good for getting away from a crowd
I’m not too great a combos, but one that’s pretty simple and effective is snap kick, crotch punch, charging strike (or fist I forgot) but only hold it for a little so the enemy doesn’t dodge too fast (it’ll still stun), throw them, chasing trip kick, after that sweep and then normal punch them on the ground. It sounds like a lot, but just spend a solid 10-20 minutes in training and you’ll get the hang of it. Happy sifu-ing!
Hey,
I've made a compilation of some of the cool combo that I've seen during Evo in order to find quickly which B&B each character have once the game is out.
If I'm missing some don't hesitate to post them here with the timestamp of the YouTube Video so we can have a good library of combos, ready, once the game is out.
6 more days!
on my opinion are these ones.
for one reason, most of the combos i've seen of them AREN'T loops
and for me, the mf with the most skillfull and saucy combos is 4geta, without any doubt.
I'm surprised no one talked about Ginyu, he has some of the most beautiful combos although everyone use the same ones for some reason
some dudes mentioned ginyu, i'm surprised no one said 4geta
Personally I don't like 4geta I really think his combos are boring ngl
No way no one mentioned Gohan, his combos are magical
Master Roshi, 100%. His combos are such a sight to behold.
Next would be Ginyu for sure, Goku Black, and Nappa. I love seeing those guys do combos more than anything
for me the best combo trio is, 4Geta, GokuSsj and Goku Black, but your trio is great too
What I mean is. What’s the combo that you hit with your character that is like YOUR thing. Whether you think it looks cool, you think it’s really hard, the damage is super super high, idk how everything sounds when you do it. Doesn’t matter what it is, all that matters is it’s your favorite. For me it’s Armor King’s one combo where you hit CH b+1, 3+4, df+1, df+3, db2 4, WR 3+4 the one where you cartwheel over them to the other side. I just think it’s so cool. I wanna hear what everyone else’s favorite combo is and try to put for myself. Comment your favorite combos and I’ll try em out it seems like a lot of fun.
Any heihachi OTGF combo, especially the ones with rage drive OTGF to end the round
Converting ewgf omen combo feels amazing as well
True that!
Josie. The f3 knee is so sick looking. The combo is:
CD2, f3 - f3 - f3 - 3,3 into ender. The 3,3 for screw is also so juicy to hit.
You can do f3 3x in most combos just harder cause you have to time it. It's worth trying out!
Thanks man, will try that out. Josie has some of my absolute favourite moves and combos.
Launcher > forget combo > jab jab jab > wrong version of string that usually ends combo. That’s my shit
Hell yeah that’s my shit right there
Oof that's a tough one it's gotta be assist 1 2 4
For real
Assist button deniers 😤😤😤✋✋✋
On Jin basically any combo that involes zen 3+4 or
Ws2/zen 1+2 electrics into ws4 bf 23 zen 3
Zen 3+4 just looks too good
Ws4 as combo filler increases damage, is not that easy to do and is stylish too
Kazumi main here... All combos are boring pepehands
RSS2, df+2, b,f+2,1,4 run up f3f4, 2 is kinda fun thanks to df2 filler
A good launch can go into 1,2,2, Tiger Uppercut, b4
It's at least flashy.
Hmmm, dunno how you can call yourself a Kazumi main and not get a chub after doing a panic DF+2 and getting a combo out of it. :P
She's got a couple cool S2 combos but she is pretty limited
d/b 1+2, d/f 1+2, dash, 4 2, 2 2 2
Guess my main
Hwo:
(While in rage)
ub 3, 3, fd 3f, f2, f3, 3f, 3f, 3f, uf 3+4, 3+4, 34, d 3+44, fd 3
Or
f n fd 4, f 3+4, 34, f 3+4, 34, ff 4, 3, 4, b4
First combo involves a wall splat right?
Also JFSR is f n df4 cmon man.
Yes.
And i've just made a typo, chill. Writing the first combo messed me up a little bit.
That's why I play Feng :)
Have a video of this? Is this the one with rage drive part way, that one looks sick.
I'm sorry, i don't have any video of the combo and my pc isn't enough to record anything :/
This is only about the looks of the combo.
I personally think that Neegan, Lili, and Claudio have some of the worst, to me they are boring and they don't have the same "oomph" that the other characters have in theirs.
The characters that I think have the best looking combos include: (not in particular order)
What do you guys think? Whose combos do you love and hate the most?
Eh all mishima combos are boring.
But...Lars? We love a Lars combo.
Mishima combos are not boring but rather hard but we all have opinions so 🥂🤷🏻♂️
Devil Jin has some cool ass combos and boring ones too!
Boring to look at. As another redditor said, pewgf combos are only good to tekken players because we know theyre hard to do - but they look boring af.
Jin and miguel look lame as hell
bf2,3,f3 is so pretty. That string has such a cadence to it, I can't explain why I like it so much.
Do you know what's lame? Devil Jin's 1+4 pickup after a hell sweep. I hope they give DJ something new in Tekken 8 :/
Yeah and most of Jin combos are literally the same(except f4, f4 is pretty sick)
>f4 is pretty sick
Spoken like a true Jin main.
Watch some CBM matches. He does BNB combos, but he also does some crazy stuff with Jin.
Lili has really pretty combos imo lol. She a gymnast after all. She sorta flips around like Kuni
Pewgf combo tbh pretty boring to see. It's only look interesting because community know it's a special thing to see it being executed
Negan combos are shit
He knees you all the day and it’s boring
Coorejams combo videos are pretty great
9 likes? That's all I got for this post?
I'm fine with a reasonable intro and outro but that's it.
32,843th Thirty two thousand eight hundred forty thirth
I swear, EVERY single combo video is 3/5th just random cutscenes and the rest are unnecessary video effects for no reason at all.
Yep, agreed.
