TL;DR
Noctua Fans
Noctua is frequently mentioned across discussions as the top choice for CPU cooling solutions. Users praise Noctua fans for their exceptional cooling performance and near-silent operation [1:2]
[3:3]
[4:1]
[5:1]. The Noctua NH-D15 model is specifically recommended for its effective cooling capabilities, though users should ensure it fits within their case due to its large size
[3:3].
'be quiet!' Fans
Another brand that is consistently recommended is 'be quiet!'. These fans are known for their focus on minimizing noise while still providing good airflow [1:8]
[4:1]
[5:2]. They might be slightly less expensive than Noctua, making them a viable alternative for those on a tighter budget.
Budget Considerations
For users with budget constraints, Thermalright was suggested as a potential option, particularly in regions like India where pricing can vary significantly [1:4]. Arctic fans were also mentioned as a more cost-effective solution without compromising too much on quality
[5:3].
Case Compatibility
When selecting a CPU fan, it's important to consider the size of your case and the compatibility of the cooler. Some users noted that larger coolers like the Noctua NH-D15 might not fit in smaller cases [3:4]. Ensuring that your case can accommodate the chosen cooler is crucial to avoid installation issues.
Additional Options
For users interested in non-RGB options that prioritize airflow and cooling efficiency, Corsair's RS140 MAX was mentioned as a thicker fan that could potentially offer better cooling performance [5:2]. While not as commonly recommended as Noctua or 'be quiet!', Corsair fans could be worth exploring depending on specific needs and preferences.
my cpu is getting quite hot to a point the pc is crashing what would be good fan to cool it it has the default one that you get with it right now or is there any other solution to overheating
NOCTUA. I went full Noctua after years of hesitation, got like 10 inside of my case and the Ventirad has 2 dedicated fan, I can tell you my CPU is CHIIIIIIILL
kinda over my budget anything a little cheaper?
Maybe Be Quiet! ? It’s good too and less expensive IIRC. Maybe not the less expensive brand but I have good memories of it, check it out
Need to know what you have now as far as CPU, case and your budget. It sounds like you need a new cooler rather than just a new fan.
i3 10th cpu and a normal boring office type case and i can at best spare a 1000 indian rupees
What sort of temps are you seeing right before it crashes?
You mentioned i3 10th, but what about the case you're using? That will affect how big the CPU cooler you can get.
Also, what's your budget and which country are you in? Different countries will have different pricing for CPU coolers.
i have to check the temperate once. it's not a fancy case just normal case you typically see in offices. i am from india and at best i can spare 1000 rupees
Thermalright might have some in that budget, might be able to find one of their Assassin coolers for that price, although I'm not sure where to look for India.
Good to know !
Pretty much the title.
There's a lot of variety of PC cases in the market but I've literally zero idea which is the best bang for the buck and will keep the PC coolest in this heat.
I'm looking for a pack of 3 x 120 mm fans with RGB controller and hub that won't fail after 2-3 years.
Budget is limited but flexible (10-12k).
Thanks!
Thermalriggt c12c
I want a cpu fan that will keep my tempatures cool. I want it long term.
● Case: NZXT Source 340
● Operating System: Windows 10 64bit
● CPU: Intel Core i7 7700
● RAM: Corsair Vengeance Led 16GB DDR4- 3000MHz
● Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix H270F Gaming
● GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
● Power: Corsair CS Series 750W Modular 80 PLUS Gold
If you dont care about looks, and you also dont want to deal with liquid cooling posible problems, i would suggest a NOCTUA one, probably NH-D15 if it fits in your case
Yeah, i really can't be arsed with water cooling because of this. does that one come with different colors? and im kinda unsure about the size
The size is pretty big, it is fine, wont hurt the mobo, but it might not fit the case. There is a orange-black color tho, but its more expensive. However i bought one and i could not be more satisfied
Edit: the sound is almost unaudible
Well, that's a custom loop, aios are alot more reliable, but air cooling is the way to go if you just dont want to deal with anything
As the title says, I’m looking for high-quality fans for my case. Price is not an issue — I want something long-lasting, quiet, and efficient when it comes to cooling.
Get noctua, they are the best on the market. Alternative would be be quiet!
Which one ? Is many models of noctua on the market, and not all are avaible in my county.
All good, look at db rating, everything under 16db is practically silent

What is the best pc fans all around (NO RGB) just basic fans that are very good and quiet and move a lot of air around and keep the pc cool?
Noctua makes good fans.
'be quiet!' makes some good fans, they're more focused on silence.
Corsair might have some good fans. They make, among others, the RS140 MAX, which is 30mm thick instead of the usual 25mm. Might be worth checking out.
I don't have much experience with the fans of other brands.
I like arctic fans
Noctua all day.
Noctua
I value performance and silence, so my go to are Noctua fans. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.
thanks !!
Hey, does anyone have any reccomendations for longevity PC fans, I really don't care if it's like $500 at this point. I've owned computers for over 12 years, and each system after about 1-2 years will start to give very slight fan sounds, then eventually a bearing sound. I have Hyperacusis and every sound like that makes me want to flip. I am currently using a Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240L Core ARGB CPU Liquid Cooler.
I clean my PC properly, room is clean and dust free. I can just never be bothered building a PC and every pre built even if it's like $5000 has some shitty coolmaster in it that's louder than a wind turbine for me. So I will install this part myself then, but I really need a good fan reccomendation or I'll just drill a hole though my wall and run my PC out of the room.
My regular Noctua case fan (not Industrial!) had been going strong for over a decade in different builds. No problems. (S12)
Bought different Fans too because I was cheap. Turns out I was just dumb. This was the cheapest without comparison over the years. Arctic second
That’s what I need! All my computers, peripherals etc last almost forever. It’s just the seemingly cheap fans that do it. I mean the fans work and the PC doesn’t overheat. I’m just intolerant to the noise 😅
So am I 😅🙏
Noctua NF-A14x25 G2 is probably the best case fan you can buy, but they're $40 EACH. If budget isn't an issue, get them.
Thank you! When it comes to lasting peace I think it’s a price I can pay this once!
pretty much any noctua fan
Thanks I’ll have a look!
Could try putting oil in the fan bearing. I do that when I don't feel like buying a new one.
Might work if I took it out and tried. I just grab the fan and rough it up a bit now honestly. Wouldn’t even care if it broke 😅. Then it stops for about an hour, before it starts again.
Decided to get a Noctua NH-D15 G2 LBC CPU Cooler. Looked like an old standing fan my grandpa used to have with the rustic brown and cream colour. Best thing about that fan, is it’s from 1985 and it still works better than the one I bought from Bunnings recently 😅. Should arrive in 3 days.
Seems Noctua make products that work, not look cute. And that’s what I need, thank you everyone for the suggestions!
I just bought a new ryzen 5 3600, after seeing that the stock cooler was performing on 69-75º average while gaming i started looking on a new cpu fan. I came across the ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO but i cant buy in because is out of stock. Any similar cpu fan that works good with ryzen 5 3600 temps??
Just to be clear, those temps aren't particularly dangerous or anything, they are perfectly fine. Scythe Mugen is a great option but I dont know if its in stock anywhere right now. Hyper 212 or the Cryorig H7 also come to mind as options. For the most part though you can stick with the stock because the temps aren't too high.
Have you considered buying directly from Arctic?
https://www.arctic.ac/worldwide_en/products/cooling/cpu.html?cpu_socket_amd=544
From what I see the unit you mention is a dual fan in push pull and seems to be a bit of over kill for your 3600. The cheaper Freezer 34 eSports will do about the same in cooling and noise and is STILL over kill.
I though so, but shopping is like 30bucks
To Spain? From Austria?
Just got my hand on the ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO . Thanks r/buildapc <3
Yeah but i love in Spain which means on summer ill be getting like 37-40° on ambient temp. Also yesterday i got like 83°
/r/ihavesex
83 Celsius or Fahrenheit?
Celsius
I live in*
The best is the Noctua NH-D15 or NH-D15S, but you'd be paying around twice as much as the Arctic.
Need recommendations for good price to performance fans ...
NOCTUA, ARTIC AND CORSAIR brands fans are good. If u don’t have budget issues then go for higher rpm fans from these brands.
I've budget around 2 k what is the best? Artic is the cheapest fans but good cooling system....
Go for artic then. Its good enough for cooling. Make sure to sync the throughput of the fans on ur pc case.
The title says it all. I'm not interested in aesthetic stuff such as RGB and budget is not a problem. What do you think is the best performing case fan?
Thanks in advance for all the help, it is very appreciated.
https://www.arctic.de/p12pwmpstco
p12/14 if there is a filter involved, its a cheap and silent fan, that performs very well.
if there is no filter or noise is highest priority, arctics f silent series are great contenders.
Arctic knows their stuff and is very budget friendly. Their Liquid Freezer series is by far the best no frills no rgb AIO. And their thermal paste is the gold standard. And those cheap 5 fan 120mm fan packs are an amazing value. I once had a cooler compatibility problem and the back and forth with their helpdesk was top notch.
will echo this. the Arctic fans use a really similar bearing tech to Noctua, so are, imo, better bang for the $$ than Noctua for case fans.
OP says budget is not a concern, there is no reason to consider Arctic fans. Phanteks T30s are straight up the best fans you can buy.
Yeah they're very good for the price, particularly in the 5 pack. I've had some issues with a high pitched whine on a set of older Arctic p14s in the 900-1100 range. That said you can just set a fan curve to skip this zone but some people lost their shit over it online (I know). They're a very hard recommendation to argue with from a P2P perspective. In the 5 pack, I'm not aware of an even vaguely similarly-priced fan that does the job as well.
Noctua A12x25 is what you are looking for. Best performance per noise ratio, good performance in all use cases and no RGB. The only downside is the price.
The phanteks t30 dethroned the noctua a12x25 awhile back fyi . Edit - downvoting me won't change reality. For the record I filled my whole case with noctua a12x25's before I upgraded to the t30s
As the owner of a 7xT30 machine, they are the bees knees. My 5800x3D and 6950xt machine is running on full use at low temps. I can crank it to 3000 rpm if I really want or need to cool everything off faster but the fans output like crazy at 1000-1700 just fine. The coil whine from my 6950xt is louder than the fans under load. Cushioning is good. If I could do it again I'd wait for the new daisy chain connection points they just showed off on the standard T30, I don't need rgb or reversed fans for aesthetics.
Best performing case fan for what? Filter or no filter? Radiators or not? How large is the case?
Airflow, noise, cable management?
This is a cope used by people with inferior fans. The answer is that the T30 is the best performing fan.
Noctua A12x25 or Phanteks T30. Rather than faffing around with different fan types, these are the ones that do well no matter what.
Noctua Industrials use a different bearing type that is prone to rattle at regular people speeds. If you're not planning to use the 3000 rpm ones at that speed, do not buy them. If you are, I hope you do not intend to be in the same room as the system for a prolonged amount of time.
All the best fans are 120mm.
At least today; we’ll see what Noctua brings to the table with their new 140mm design, but it’s a pretty radical departure from the A12x25.
Hello this is the first time I’ve ever built a computer, or posted on Reddit. I currently have a Corsair 4000d, with a 3080ti, core i912900k, 32 gigs of ram ,2tb ssd, 850w psu, noctua nh d15, and gigabyte z790. I haven’t purchased any other fans for this build and was wondering what I need to put in it, I know the cpu will run hot when it’s installed and running in the case and I can assume a 3080ti isn’t exactly going to run cool so I’d like to put more fans in for extra cooling.
Noctua, thermaltake and arctic brands have good fans
Should I do two 140 mm or three 120mm for the front the case only comes with two 120mm
If you can fit 2 140mm at the front and the rest 120mm i think it will be good. But you still have to test the temps after.
Awesome thank you very much for the advice. I will definitely try this I was looking around and figured it would be a good idea to get som more cooling in the computer.
best CPU fan
Key Considerations for Choosing the Best CPU Fan:
Compatibility: Ensure the fan is compatible with your CPU socket type (e.g., Intel LGA, AMD AM4) and fits within your case dimensions.
Cooling Performance: Look for fans with high airflow (measured in CFM - cubic feet per minute) and static pressure, especially if you have a high-performance CPU that generates a lot of heat.
Noise Levels: Check the decibel rating (dBA) of the fan. A quieter fan (under 30 dBA) is preferable for a peaceful working environment.
Size: Common sizes are 120mm and 140mm. Larger fans can move more air at lower RPMs, which often results in quieter operation.
Build Quality: Look for fans with durable materials and good bearings (like fluid dynamic bearings) for longevity and performance.
Aesthetics: If you care about the look of your build, consider fans with RGB lighting or a design that matches your setup.
Recommendations:
Noctua NH-D15: Highly regarded for its exceptional cooling performance and low noise levels. It’s a dual-tower cooler that fits most cases and is compatible with various sockets.
be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4: Offers excellent cooling and is known for being one of the quietest CPU coolers available. It features a sleek design and is suitable for high-performance CPUs.
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO: A budget-friendly option that provides solid cooling performance and is compatible with a wide range of sockets. It's a great choice for mid-range builds.
Choosing the right CPU fan depends on your specific needs, such as cooling requirements, noise tolerance, and budget.
