TL;DR
OMW Cavalry vs. Propel Pivot GT vs. MBoards Interstellar 2.0
For those considering high-end options like the OMW Cavalry, Propel Pivot GT, and MBoards Interstellar 2.0, the OMW Cavalry stands out for its quality trucks, reliable electronics, and exceptional customer service [1:1]. It offers a smooth ride with a flexible deck that many users find comfortable for street riding
[1:5]. The Propel Pivot GT is also praised for its durability and reliability, especially on rough terrains
[1:2].
Reputable Brands
When it comes to reputable brands, Evolve, LaCroix, Hoyt, and Onsra are frequently mentioned. Evolve boards like the Hadean and Diablo are known for their snowboard-like feel, though they can be pricey [3:1]
[4:1]. LaCroix is considered premium, but some users have noted a decline in quality over recent years
[3:10]. Onsra is well-regarded for its waterproofing and overall build quality
[3:8].
Customer Service and Reliability
Good customer service and product reliability are crucial factors when choosing an electric skateboard. Wowgo is highlighted for its excellent customer service and reliable performance, particularly with models like the AT2 Plus [5]. Similarly, Tynee and Backfire are recognized for their solid reputation and durability
[3:2]
[4:3].
Innovations and Features
The electric skateboard market has seen significant advancements in technology and features. Innovations such as hydraulic stabilization (as seen in high-end Kaly boards) and improved battery systems are becoming more common [2:6]. These features enhance the riding experience by providing smoother rides and longer ranges.
Considerations Beyond the Discussions
While these discussions provide valuable insights, it's important to consider your specific needs, such as intended use (e.g., off-road versus urban commuting), budget, and personal preferences regarding board aesthetics and features. Test riding different models, if possible, can also help in making an informed decision.
Pics are ordered according to title. Curious which one you guys think is the best between these three? Criteria is long range, board is only for AT wheels and rough street riding, and needs to be on the sleeker side. Looking for opinions from those who have actually ridden these and have some miles put on them for long term performance. Price is not under consideration for this comparison.

Propel: https://www.ridepropel.com/electric-skateboard/propel-pivot-gt/
Personnaly i have take the propel pivot gt ( put 1800km on it ) mostly on off road and he still go hard ass heal 👍, he not designed for hard off road but he can surprise you 😂
Agreed. 2,000 miles of, almost all, street riding in NYC on my Pivot GT and I am very impressed at how good and reliable it's been. The only issue I've had with the board is the charger died and I replaced it.
I had this decision and went with the OMW. I do 100% street riding need thanes for range and wanted the flex for when it gets a bit rough. Its an awesome board the wide flexi deck with the Mad 105s feels like a snowboard. Really planted yet super carvey and stable at speed even with DKP trucks. Loving it so far and the customer service has been exceptional
The OMW is my top choice out of the three right now. The flex and deck shape really sell it
OMW!!!
Best deck with quality trucks! Reliable electronics! Best of Best customer service! 12 months warranty on electrical parts! Lifetime warranty on deck! Integrated lights! Service center in Europe and US! Most important - The board feels excellent under the feet!
I say this with experience. I had - Acedeck N1 Propel Pivot and ruckus Zeus pro Meepo hurricane
Are you affiliated with OMW?
Nope, I am Just a Tester. After testing so many Boards and dealing with customer service, omw absolutely impressed me. Don't believe my words ,try em out you won't regret.
Omw for sure. You’ll find more comfort in the ride as well
Mboards for future upgrades
I've got that skatebolt in the video, and it's awesome for sure. I used to skate as a kid, but started with cheap electric longboard maybe 5 years ago and this igot a year ago and it's my first higher end one. Definitely worth the price and I've had it up to 28mph so maybe the guy in the video catching a head wind.
My next one will be for off road... once I convince the wife that it's something that I need to have in my life that is.
Any recommendations for a decent off road e board that won't totally break the bank?
Evolve
Thanks! Will check this out
I have this board too. I think its pretty great. Only down side is I cant find any offroad type wheels for it, would make the ride smother on sidewalks and bumps.
Very true
Im not super qualified for this but I will say I love my zealot S and I'm thinking about getting shark wheels new electric board, I've used their longboarding wheels and fell in love with them.
I would be weary about shark wheels board. It’s a Teamgee board (not the greatest) with a disguise on...
whats wrong with it?
I'm too much of a noob to add anything to this thread but all I can say is that I'm so excited about what the next few years brings us in terms of technology and improvement. Look how far it's come recently. Hell, I used to watch Casey Neistat on Youtube and I was convinced I was going to get a Boosted Board. Problem is, I'm cheap and it would have killed me to plunk down $1300 (at the time) for a Boosted.
Look how far things have come in just a couple years. Higher top speeds, better range, more options, etc... Right now I ride a Zealot and have a new one on the way. But the DIY have me interested and there's just so many incredible boards out there right now.
All the meaningful innovations are happening at the high-end imo. I heard that the new Kaly board will include hydraulic stabilization (like you would find on a motorcycle).
When those begin to trickle down to the low-end models I'll be very excited. It's been a while since I seen serious improvements to new esk8 options.
Until then I've taken a detour into EUC land where I'm actually seeing tangible improvements to design model after model, across all manufacturers.
Homebuilt
I was mesmerized by a guy riding an Evolve Hadean, like he was on a snowboard/surfboard. He told me, and I checked, that the new model like his is the Evolve Diablo. It seems to be quite the amazing electric skateboard, but I want to do my homework and figure out who else makes high-quality skateboards.
Years ago, I was riding a Boosted board up our driveway which has a slight incline. Midway, the battery must have hit some current/heat limit and the motor either stopped or substantially decreased speed, and I was thrown forward onto the ground. I wasn't moving very fast, but it was sudden, I had very little time to react, and it hurt. I've since stayed away from electrics. Having seen the guy on the Hadean carve around this park, I am really intrigued and want to give it another try.
I'm about 170 pounds, don't care much about going fast, but a range of 25 miles or better is preferred. I'd like to eventually commute to and from the train. A nice plus would be to be able to handle a couple of big hills I have leading home, including riding in San Francisco with its steep streets. Given the state of some of the roads, I'm opting for all-terrain wheels, probably pneumatic, and large ones. If that allows me to go off-road on dirt, then that is great too.
I don't want to start a brand war here so, preferably, please state the brand and model that you think is good (for my use), and/or any links to problem issues, and I'll go off and read them all.
Thank you!
I own both a Meepo with over 1000 miles and an Ownboard with 500 miles and I haven't been disappointed.
Tynee and Backfire also are well known as solid brands, haven't heard much about Acedeck
Not Evolve!!!! If you are looking for a budget board that has a great reputation and will last a couple thousand miles, I would go with backfire. If you want a high end board that will last forever LaCroix, flux, and Hoyt street are some really good ones.
To elaborate, you shouldn't go with a Devolve board, as they have a known issue where the brakes lock up, yeeting the rider off of the board. It has caused deaths. Devolve has done nothing about this, not even acknowledged it.
LaCroix & Hoyt are dead. Flux is slowing down.
The new "premium" in the scene are Radium-performance & SKP.
Edit : LaCroix back under new ownership, but based on boards specs, I wouldn't call it premium these days. Electric & tires are kinda dated.
I’ve had two Propel boards I’ve been riding for the past four years or so, and they’ve been solid.
Customer service has been great as well, and their maintenance YouTube channel is a plus
Propel is great. Russell always takes care of you. Love my Endeavor 2. If I wanted another smaller one it’d probably also be a Propel.
Same, although I’m pretty spoiled on my Endeavor!
They're also one of the few makers which take waterproofing seriously.
I second the Onsra recommendation. Could not be happier with my black carve 3. This is my third year on it and haven’t had an issue, just rolled 2000km
Propel and Acedeck are the 2 top dogs in my opinion.
Definitely not Propel, they are terrible for quality and customer service https://www.reddit.com/r/ElectricSkateboarding/s/6DndJzEFEk
My Tynee Mini 2 has been flawless, however.
Radium is not even close with its 12s6p. For that price I would do a custom. My Flux and Lacroix are both 12s10p and better quality.
To those that know more than me (everyone here),
I’m looking for a comprehensive list of quality companies in the e-skate world. I wanted to open this up to discussion as I know many folks on this page know far more than me about this topic.
How would you rank the below companies based on a 3-tier system (top, middle, low)?
More of a general based ranking, nothing specific to any one board. Considering overall quality of the products sold and customer service.
Hoyt
Exway
Tynee
Evolve
Acedeck
Lacroix
Mboard
Onsra
Top spot
Everything else
Lacroix (quality has declined in the past few years especially with the stormcore issues)
Whale poo
Evolve
Stormcore issues? You mean them not being available? As they're one of the most reliable VESCs out(not the most powerful or priced proportionally) but there is less nuances with them compared to other options. M boards too high to. They've made some good changes, but their past is as dicey as evolves. Rest i can agree .
Stormcore had major issues with emitting the magic smoke and bricking for a little while. They weren’t out of stock just because of popularity, I’m pretty certain they also redesigned a few things internally. They’re great again but the issues at one point had people switching to Spintend. IMO all vescs go through periods of bad batches then bounce back (minus the Unity).
The evolve chassis is actually extremely reliable. Still riding on my CGT from 2016-17.. The original esc and battery were junk, but they have improved both of those things quite a bit over the years. I probably have 10s of thousands of miles on this thing. After installing a custom battery and a VESC, I’d say the chassis is extremely reliable, and they’ve kept most of the same parts for it, so it’s easy to fix.
I think they get a lot of heat because they move more volume, but it’s not a bad board at all.
"Its not a bad board" "after installing a custom battery and a VESC"
Ok bro....
Evolve below whale poo? Lol
Never ridden their boards and really don’t know much about most of these companies, but dang
Love my evolve. Perfect for what I want to do. But I will admit that their boards are overpriced and you can get a better board spec wise for your money.
Evolve gets a fair amount of hate for their past in this sub. So don’t be surprised if you see a lot of hate. I’ll probs get downvoted for this but they get more hate than they should as their boards are decent and safe now, but some of it is deserved. Their main issue now is being slightly over priced and that’s really it. I’m more than happy with it anyway as it works perfectly for what I want out of an esk8.
Edit:
Loads of brands have their issues and have badly hurt riders. It’s not just Evolve. Evolve more than some maybe but all these posts about motors locking up or whatever are old. Yes they have a bad past but their more recent boards seem perfectly safe.
And yeah i agree they’re over priced and not amazing value for money. Never denied that. Still doesn’t mean they’re a bad board. Perfectly fine for most riders. But yes you can get a much cheaper board and it will do the same thing.
Backfire boards! love em
You're missing lots, check this list, it's not that out of date:
My Backfire G2 has been through a lot, still going strong at 1500 miles.
Best board
Some of these might depend on where you live. Exways service has been pretty good to me, and Exway Canada even more so.
I’ve bought 8 electric skateboards from various companies and after buying the wowgo AT2 and owning it for a few years I bought an AT2 plus, it’s by far my favourite. I only ride my wowgo’s, they are BY FAR the best, and their customer service is amazing, had a warranty issue and no stress or problems getting help from them. I highly recommend
What boards have you owned?
B-one, Vereal, and a couple other local ones
If you get a Lacroix your wowgo is gonna get real lonely.
Of course but your bank account too
Although they are kinda hard to come by as electric skateboarding is fairly niche.. I got my 2020 Lacroix Nazare for $1600 a few months ago. It is an amazing ride. I love my acedeck ares as well but the Lacroix is the best ride imo. The brand name wowgo just kinda bugs me like many other tacky Chinese brand names do. A boards a board though especially if someone is new to this they are probably gonna have fun on most boards.
Looks like bot to me... these random accounts started showing up here in this subreddit.
Wanted to start off by saying i'm a long time electric skateboarder riding the meepo v3 since 2020. I upgraded to the acedeck ares x3, and it's like going right from high school to the pros. It is so unbelievably fast, and the control / torque is ridiculous. I have LITERALLY 0 bad things to say about this board except maybe the turning radius a little bit and it's a bit heavy at 29 lbs.
I also feel like i'm driving a car. It goes 37 miles. 37 MILES BRO. And it's not like meepo where if you go anything above like 15 miles an hour the battery on these boards degrades so fast. I was going 25 mph for 30 miles straight. It is actually unreal. Was deciding between the Meepo Hurricane vader and this and i'm so glad I did.
I also paid extra and got the lights which I believe are very worth it and feel way safer to ride. Also check out the custom grip tape I designed what do you guys think of that? And thank you to everyone in this chat that helped me pick this board it's incredible.
P.S. Acedeck customer service is so trash lol. They told me to buy the bash guard because it doesn't come with it and when it arrived it had a bash guard on it already, i asked to return it, and they wouldn't let me because "ThEy DoN't dO ReTurNs." Kinda corny, but the board makes up for it.
Acedeck customer service are sum b&tches🤨. Beautiful board otherwise👌🏾
That grip tape looks so good man. The board looks so unique and sick. Congrats!
Thank you man! I customized the grip tape myself!
How could I get a cool design like that?
the charging port is conveniently located, which is my biggest gripe on my evolve
If you get the Mad mwx 125's you can get up to 43mph. Also the turning radius is just part of it, it's a street board meant for speed, you'll get used to it. It's weird that they'd tell you to buy the bash guard cause the board doesn't come with it, all their boards come with one, their customer service has been pretty great for me so far. Also if you're anything like me and ride a ton, you'll prolly end up going through a few motors. I've gone through 4 between my Ares x3 and Nomad N1. The adhesive holding the magnets in the motors eventually come loose from heat and vibrations, it's literally the same issue every time, that's my only complaint on the board. Also sick grip tape!
Would you say it can handle 30mph without speed wobbles?
Absolutely without a doubt. It handles 43mph without speed wobble, I've never wobbled on the x3, I don't think it's even possible tbh. I go down a 2 mile stretch of smooth road at full speed all the time. I take it full speed all the time and I feel 100% in control.
I literally only felt it once because I tried to pick out a leaf while I was going 30 lol. I even hit a sewer drain going 34 mph and didn’t wobble a bit
That’s like 1000 in parts. That doesn’t sound like a good deal? There’s other 3rd party motor options out there, no?
The warranty covered them, so it was free for me. Not any other 3rd party motors that work with the esc as far as I know.
Beautiful👌🏾
Thinking of getting into electric skateboards but I’m completely new to the scene. Just want something fun and relatively safe to cruise around the neighborhood or do short errands. Not trying to race cars or bomb hills. My wishlist: •Beginner-friendly controls •Decent speed but not excessive •Good braking system •Doesn’t die after 10 minutes Looking for something under $500 if possible. Any boards you swear by (or recommend avoiding)?
Tynee has the best reputation. They have a small 34xWh skateboard with belt for 569. Seems like a good beginner. Or you can get a hub version for less, but belts are superior.
Agreed, I would recommend Tynee. I have 2 from them and they offer the best hardware/quality for the price.
Under $500 i wouldn't recommend honestly.
If you're new, just realize that out of all the PEV's, esk8 is definitely the most challenging, aka dangerous. It requires your full attention all the time. Zero tolerance for error. Unlike self balancing devices, you need to coordinate manually your lean, its degree with the acceleration and deceleration. You need to pre-lean prior to launch and prior to hard braking. Not trying to scare you off, but just realize you're picking the literal most challenging PEV. I ride them all and for sure esk8 is the most challenging by a large margin.
As a beginner, you want a long board with all terrain tires. Shortboards are for experts as they'll be too squirrely. You'll need to up your budget though even for something used.
This is my Propel Pivot GT board I was riding yesterday. They have a version with lower specs and the price is also lower and may suit you better, https://www.instagram.com/p/DJVpPHHRE-d/ The S version is out of stock at the moment. That good. Hehe, keep an eye out though for restocking.
Nice advice, what do u think about tynee ultra belt? I just ordered to try as it's cheap and can sell if i don't like it. It has 105cloud wheel ish wheels so it can handle some cracks in the road I hope. If I like the riding I'll probably go for some higher end board maybe with pneumatics and big battery for smoother ride.
I have the Pro variant and it is my favourite to ride of the two boards I own (the other one is an Acedeck N3). Tynee boards are quality. Just make sure you adjust your belt tension correctly. Mine came way too tight from factory.
I’ve never ridden one but I hear great things about the brand. Small company so it’s like one guy who is the owner. If anything happens to him or he’s having a bad day, that may all change.
Can’t go wrong with Tynee
I agree with you over all, but the self balancing thing still applies to self balancing pevs I'm pretty sure. You can't just do whatever on a self balancing and have it save your ass.
I think lol.
Also I think the pivot s is out of stock cause it sold so poorly. The GT is such a massive upgrade for such little money that no one really bought the S. You see a lot more GT talk on this sub than S.
The GT also has a nicer sounding name. I strongly considered the S and wouldn't gotten that b/c the weight savings is so superior but I really needed the hill climbing ability and glad I chose the GT. It requires Pro mode to take on my hills so for sure the S model wouldn't have been able to do it. I live on a hill, so it's needed for me personally.
The physics of it makes it such that for self balancing vehicles, you're always leaning the correct amount and direction. The whole goal of the devices is to move under you when you are out of balance. How effectively it does it may be questionable and how quickly it does it may be of concern, but there's no doubt that the whole intention of it is to "catch" the rider. The esk8 has zero ability to do that and is 100% manual. For that reason alone, the esk8 is definitely more challenging b/c it requires more conscious effort. There's nothing automatic with the device.
It’s definitely above the budget for you, but I would say if you ever do upgrade to something more expensive, stay away from evolve, those things are death traps.
Exway, meepo, backfire, all have cheaper boards available. I’m not too familiar with them but keep in mind the buy once cry once principle. Cheaper boards don’t last super long, so try to find one with a decent warranty.
Backfire USA sells refurbished boards, I just picked up a ranger X5.
But they usually sell fast. So you have to check every day, Beyond that, there's nothing even remotely close to decent at that price point.
Tynee or Backfire for beginner in that budget
what are peoples favorite everyday board. I have own one in my life when I was in collage and was curious what everyone rides. I would also like to see pics of your boards too. Also, where are you riding?
Meepo shuffle S, grest all around board. I've put 200ish miles on mine since October and it's still kicking through the snow lol. Plus the 105mm cloudwheel knockoffs are fantastic imo
Can I ask what the cloudwheel knockoffs are? Not interested in paying $160 for some wheels bruh
They are made by meepo, I think they cost like 90 bucks for a full set. I have a feeling that some people here might not like them but they've been great for me.
a Meepo V4S
even though I have two AT boards, the V4 is still the most fun. it's small, lightweight, surprisingly quick, has nice concave, and is just a neat little board. AT boards are cool and all but its less fun to carve on imo
Looks awesome! But your daily is open gear drive on 3 links, seems kinda sketchy? Hopefully there's nothing but smooth asphalt on your commute lol
I don’t really know how to explain how it works but it’s the smoothest and most stable ride I’ve ever ridden. And I’ve been skating since 2007 and built 8 other boards. I’ve never had speed wobble even at 42mph
Siiiiick….what is it?
Deck: Glass frit custom Landyachtz Evo Trucks: MoeStooge’s SRB 3 link trucks Battery: 12s5p 18650 Gear drive: Stooge’s open gear drive Motors: dual Torqueboard 6380 170kv Remote: DerelictRobot’s Hoyt St. Puck Puck Bruce mod Wheels: widened metro board hubs
Exway flex before I sold it
Im still trying to wear out my WowGo Mini (v1) but no luck so far. Even the battery is still going strong :-(
What is it that grasps me for the best experience for electric vehicles when it comes to riding a Onewheel? It’s the best ride ever. I own an electric skateboard, an ebike, an electric unicycle and a of course a onewheel. My favorite ride is my onewheel!
It was the same for me, sold everything except for my onewheel and kept upgrading to higher-end models
The onewheel never ends when it involves fun and upgrades. The Float Life Crew is amazing!
Me too. And I mean EVERYTHING
I agree. I have a Patton but it really only gets ridden to maintain proficiency. The OneWheel GT & XRC are what scratches the itch to take a ride.
I totally love my Onewheel but my e-bike does feel multitudes safer to be on.
I can ride my e-bike faster than any of my One wheels and it is definitely safer.
Anything with two wheels is going to have the advantage in speed, if only for the sole fact that it can dedicate more power to speed since it doesnt need to self balance.
Well, the GT can out speed my e-bike but the stability is still a bit of a question lol.
best electric skateboard
Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Electric Skateboard:
Range: Look for a skateboard with a range that suits your needs. Most good electric skateboards offer between 10 to 30 miles on a single charge.
Top Speed: Consider the maximum speed. Many electric skateboards can reach speeds of 15 to 30 mph. Choose one that matches your comfort level and local regulations.
Weight and Portability: If you need to carry your skateboard, consider its weight (ideally under 20 lbs) and whether it has a portable design.
Motor Power: Look for boards with dual motors for better acceleration and hill-climbing ability. Motors typically range from 250W to 2000W.
Deck Material: The deck material affects durability and ride quality. Common materials include bamboo (flexible and lightweight) and maple (sturdy and durable).
Wheels and Trucks: Larger wheels (around 80mm or more) provide a smoother ride over rough terrain. Look for quality trucks for stability and control.
Braking System: Ensure the skateboard has a reliable braking system, such as regenerative braking, which helps recharge the battery while slowing down.
Recommendations:
Boosted Stealth: Known for its high-quality build, it offers a top speed of 24 mph and a range of up to 14 miles. It's great for commuting but can be pricey.
Evolve GTR: This board is versatile, with a top speed of 26 mph and a range of up to 31 miles. It’s suitable for off-road and street riding.
Meepo V3: A budget-friendly option, it offers a top speed of 29 mph and a range of around 11 miles. It's a great entry-level board for beginners.
When choosing an electric skateboard, consider your riding style, terrain, and budget to find the best fit for you.
